Scorched and choked with acrid smoke, the Plane of Fire reflects the creative and destructive element of fire and is the manifestation of Fennin Ro, the Tyrant of Fire. Everywhere, volcanic mountains spout lava flows that gather in pools. Magma is forced through the surface into geysers of molten rock. Petrified trees burn eternally, creating a magnificent forest of obsidian pillars and crimson flames.

Beyond the obsidian forest, a lava stream cascades like a waterfall from a high cliff, feeding a lake below. Rising out of the searing lake is a large island of volcanic rock and obsidian. A tremendous lake of lava is traversed by the Phoenix Bridge, aptly guarded by planar phoenixes. The guardians are perched on pedestals, their wings hovering above their bodies in readiness to pounce on any intruders. The lake of lava can incinerate anyone foolish enough to try to swim through its burning expanse.

The whereabouts of the Tyrant of Fire is a mystery, and shall likely remain so for some time, as his plane poses a deadly threat to even the gods themselves should they enter.

Level 60 is required to enter the zone without a flag on the live servers.

2016 Guide for levelling in Plane of Fire (Doomfire)

This brief guide is posted to help those returning to EQ and struggling to level through the 60's. I am sure there are better places than PoF to level but I love this zone and post this to share what I have learned.

You must be lvl 60 to enter PoF and when you zone in be sure to locate the tree that is the zone out just in case you need to get out fast. Pulling to the zone in is relatively safe, but in this zone it is easy to get adds out in the fields because the trees hide nearby mobs. Typically I like to stay at the zone in until 62. If you are a kiting class you can go behind the zone in area to a little valley just over the hill behind you that has no spawns and no roamers... perfect for kiting red con mobs. Your merc tank will struggle at first and you may have to take some agro to keep him alive.

At 62 invis up and levitate over to what is known as C1. You will need to run up as high as you can on the hill at the north end of the first wall and run over to the top of the wall. There is a mob there that is static and I typically go down the stairs there and set up behind the stairs in a little nook with a mob there. The agro radius of the fire guys and efreeti's is very very small. You can single pull this wall and the only adds you will get is if a roamer walks right through your fight. Clear the lower level of the East wall of C1, and even the 2 at the south end that are spawned right together will single pull. Continue up the stairs at the south end and clear the top wall back to where you started. You should get a level each time you clear it. One note - you cannot zone out from here. Once you lev over to the wall it will not let you jump off the wall and run to the zone out tree. Gate/Origin/Throne required to get out so the single pulls become more important to melee classes without gate.

Up top is a bridge that can have a raid mob at the center named General Douchebag Flamesong or something like that. If he is not there you can single pull all 6 of the mobs up on the bridge for even more kills and work your way through the west wall of C1. Down on the floor in the center can get a little congested with multiples on pulls. There are a few safe single pulls if you work your way around the floor area. At 66 I was getting 2% per kill with pet and merc which is pretty slow, but keep in mind that xp slows way down by the time you get to 70. The days of racing through levels is over at this point (as intended). Try to use Lesson of the Devoted if you have it, or grab xp pots from the DB store to help with the levels. You can stay here until 68 but at that level you have to clear the wall 4-5 times to get from 67 to 68 even with Lesson.

After leaving here at 68 or so your merc no longer can tank mobs effectively. Unless you plan to play healer to your merc the fighting style of most classes will change around level 70. If you are a melee class that can take a little punishment then a healer merc will be the way to go. I leveled up a rogue to 105 which is good dps, but horrible at taking hits and has no slow. The healer merc kept him alive most of the time and the bonus xp from dailies, DH HA's, quests, etc got him to 105 but it did take a considerable amount of time.

If you are a good kiting class you are better off with no merc because they do absorb xp. Grab a healer merc, unsuspend it so you get the cleric buffs for you (and pet) then suspend it and kite. Where to kite? That is a tough question. Leveling from 68-72 is one of the harder level ranges to level. Once in the 70's more zones open up with daily quests, daily hot zone quests, etc. that are good xp. It is at this point that you have probably learned the class pretty well, and realize that you dont really need 40-50 hours of more practice with the class just to get to 85. Purchasing the heroic upgrade to 85 is not a bad idea here. Spend a day or two adjusting to the new spells, pet, merc, etc. and play the class from 85-105. I like to do this because it really can be fun leveling from 1-70 with any class you want to play. And if you discover that you still really like the class at 70 then getting the upgrade to 85 saves you many hours of grinding/questing on your way to 105. And you get all of the level 85 and below AA's auto granted which makes for a pretty powerful level 85 toon... which is once again fun to play.

Hope this helps folks coming back to the game.

Posting this as the guides to headshot are now unclear since the revamp of headshot.

C1 is all level 65 mobs. They cannot be headshot at level 77 using rank 10 headshot. You actually need rank 11 and level 79 before you can do this. C2 will need a higher level still. Hope that helps!

If you go to C1 to headshot, be aware of the Captain of fire and Vicar of fire named mobs. They like to summon.

Yup, confirmed Lv81 and head shot rank 12. IMO the best place to AA as a Ranger, so stay here a while. If you dont you will regret it.

If you are using headshot in this zone (or most others) as your primary way of killing mobs and you honestly think this is the best place to AA for a ranger at level 81.. well, you're just like every other idiot ranger I see who knows F-ALL about playing a ranger. You want experience..try killing something that isn't a green or light blue con to you moron. I can guarantee you while you are spanking your monkey in PoFire thinking you are getting a ton of aa's, I'm laughing at you while I'm getting REAL experience tanking or DPS mobs in a group at 85 in HoT/ Feerrott. In 6 hours I'll farm 4 times the aa's you will see in a week in Pofire bozo..so you just keep on HS'ing away. I have been a ranger since the Prexus server launched..Ive always been a ranger..and I will always be a ranger. So keep on spreading the myth.. leaves me plenty of room to pick and choose whichever zone I want to rake in the aa's (at almost 4k now) w/o having to deal with idiots like you. /rant off lol.

lol you obviously have no idea what your talking about, at 81 you will not do better then c2 headshotting for aa's my best guess is you have no idea what your doing or are trying to direct people away from it. ive grouped in HoT and grounds as well as being power leveled in 90-95 zones and i can tell you none of them come even close to c2 for aa's. with lesson up and pulling all of c2 plus tables i get 40 aa's in 15 minutes and still have time to grab crap out of field for even more and simply melee it down. sorry but no level correct zone provides even half that in the same time. just the other day i played for 3 hours and pulled 250 aa's and a good hour of that time i was randomly afk waiting for respawns.

For the solo ranger who for whatever reason doesnt have or want a group, at 81 this is probablly the best AA spot.
Your comments provide no useful information to anyone, I'd ask you just keep them to yourself but i'm sure it would just instigate a tirade of some sort.
In addition, I seriously doubt you are tanking HoT at 84, but wht do I know? :-)

Spaz? Who are you calling a spaz, newb? lol I'm perfectly calm..I'm guessing you were insulted by my comment. Rangers give rangers a bad name. On my server people ***** all the time about rangers killing everything via HS in Feerrott, and quite honestly, I wish everyone would stfu about HS..hence my post. Being able to HS is just a way of your character saying.."Hey dumbass!! Go Kill Something that's a challenge!! Go cry to your momma if u feel insulted here. I'll take no quarter.

Does seem pretty hostile for literally no reason. Its the type of wording your using, for example you said your calm yet you used an insult of newb in your sentence. The way you are speaking is talking down to people as if they are below instead of equal to you. Try to say your opinion without insults and you will find people will be more likely to at least test out your advice instead of be more prone to argue with you because when you tell people they are stupid for any reason, it's just rude and can and should be taken as hostility, because it is!

It's actually 60 to enter without flagging for all EP planes, and used to be 62 for Time (may still be for TimeB). Since SoD and getting to the void via Time, it's now access-able at any level.

This place can offer you insane amounts of aa xp at levels 60 and 65 if you have the right powerleveler. Using an 80 necro, I would dot a mob up at tables, root it, then run to the pulpit where there is something like 10 mobs and FD. I would then hit the mob once on the char I am PLing and allow the dots to kill it. Using this method, you get about 2 yellow aa per kill (1 aa per 2 or 3 kills), which I was able to pull 225 in one day, and more during the double xp weekends. Needless to say, I quickly maxed out my chars aas at 65. It starts to slow when you go to 70 though.

Yes, from PoT, there's a building northeast of the building that you zone into from PoK, click on the fireball inside.

C1 and C2 are castle 1 and castle 2 - C2 has higher level mobs (66-68) C1 has more standard mobs (65)

Had this problem when PoP came out, all of my buddys were clearing wall and I could not. Tried SoW and max height but I always fell short.

I had to turn off the particles from the trees/environment and cleared it EASY.

Any frame rate lag and you sink fast.
RE: Clearing Wall
# Oct 06 2005 at 3:09 PM Rating: Decent
Easy, there are 2 ways:

1) get somebody on the other side to summon you (CoH)

2) keep running and jumping for another 30 mins ...hehe

If you get a running start, then look up until the sun is in the lower right quadrant of your screen while running forward, and don't stop till you are sure that you are either over the wall or on the parapit under the roof ... it can be done. Once you learn the trick, it will only take a few tries.

at the entrance to the zone, make sure you have atleast 5k hp's (although most should by note, just a note) just in case, all you have to do, is tag one, and kite it around the hills behind the zone in, hitting it with leopard claw/dragon fang, and if you get it low enough and feel like killing it quicker, you can always just hit whirlwind and kill it, providing you have the endurance.

You can gain access to the Plane of Fire if you get gimped in to kill the boss then you just hail a projection after the boss is dead. You would still need to go back and do all flags for planar progress but can get fire access this way.

Do you have to be flagged for for all the first and second teirs still? They gave them a level limit but does that mean you still have to get flagge for Fire?
PoFire Vs Elemental
# Feb 14 2004 at 3:02 AM Rating: Default
You can be PoFire flagged and NOT be flagged for the other three Elemental planes. I absolutely know this for fact, as my enchanter has access to all elementals, but my cleric who has not done agnarr yet has access to PoFire, but not any of the others. I have a friend who has access to the three Elemental planes, but not PoFire as he has yet to do Sol Ro.

assuming all preflagz are done it boils down to:

Agnarr + Rallos Zek = EP
Sol Ro + Rallos Zek = PoFire.

First off the post are out dated you can easly get into PoFire by doing the sol ro alternitive quest . Then proced to kill the 5 mini bosses in Sol ro to get to Sol Ro him self then defeat him. And you have your pofire access.

this statment is dead wrong ,, i have killed all the mini's and sol ro himself ( in on a gimp ) and no fire access after the initial zone in to complete the flag ,, so i though i would kill the reckless effriti to give me access to sol ro ,, well i got into sol ro but not into the PoFire ,, sorry to burst the preverbial bubble=/

Not quite. If you have alternate access to the TOwer and NOT normal access, killing the 5 bosses will not get you flagged for SolRos chamber. There is another alt quest inside the tower to get access to the chamber that you have to do instead.

Once you have regular access to the tower, then you can get access to the big guy by killing the 5 minis.

wrong you can be flagged for earth, air and water and not be flagged for fire or flagged for fire and not the other 3 ele palnes not gunna explain would take to much time

Uhm... no... not possible. Rallos Zek + all flags BESIDES Sol Ro is for the Three EP's, and Rallos +all other flags including Sol Ro is Fire.

Incorrect. Agnarr is not required for PoFire. Therefore it is possible to have normal access to fire and not the other EPs.
RE: PoFire Vs Elemental
# Jul 25 2005 at 7:57 AM Rating: Default
Are you sure that works? and why wouldnt you just get all your flags so that way you dont have to worry about it.

*edit*
I just realized that you need agnarr for solusek ro tower acess which means you do have to kill him to get to plane of fire. I think the only flag you can "skip" is HoHB because you can use the 85/15 rule. Doing the alternative quest will not give you the real flag it just gives you access so it is not even part of PoP progression unless you never intend on going any further.

I got the flag awhile back and eventually my curiousity brought me to try out the portal myself even though Miak warned me that I'd die horribly. Surprisingly enough it wouldn't let me zone in. Typical "You don't have the will" message meaning the plane is still locked. Grrr....I really want this to be figured out...
    RE: Character Flag
    # Mar 03 2003 at 12:55 PM Rating: Excellent
To gain entrance to the Plane of Fire you have quite a few trials ahead of you. You must first gain access to Plane of Valor, Plane of Storms, Crypt of Decay and Plane of Tactics/Drunder.Working your way thru these allow (in order) access to Halls of Honor, Bastion Of Thunder, and Plane of Torment. This allows you to get to the Planes of Earth Air and Water.
There is a detour to get to the Plane of Fire. You must Enter Sol Ro's tower and kill her to get to PoF. To get to Sol Ro you must conquer Saryn in Plane of Torment and Vallon/Tallon Zek in Plane of Tactics. Once you've beaten Sol Ro and have access to Earth, Air, and Water, you can enter the Plane of Fire. I hear entering to the plane of time will require you defeat the planar gods and collect pieces similar to the Vex Thal key quest (but many more pieces) and/or a quest about "powering an engine". I can't give you much information about the Plane of Time as we have recently entered Fire. I can say Flagging is a pain and has to be done may times to ensure a guild and recruits can progress together.
I did not mention that the advances require killing boss mobs, but you all know that. I have had a blast with PoP. I have been graced with being in a powerful guild that is oriented in tactics as opposed to numbers. I hope many of you eventually get the opportunity to see the game at this level. The drops are awesome, but I play for the game.

Talking to the dragon is the "preflag" for fire. you then need to kill SolRo god and hail the pp for access to fire.

I did the same thing lastnight. I also got the Character Flag notification. He speaks about the portal teleporting into the plane being broken and unsafe. He said that the random spot it sends you will be your doom. He then mentions something about the right person or info would allow him to teleport you safely into the plane. I didn't want to try to enter after I got the flag, but it might be a good mission for a naked twink to be sent in as a sacrifice!
