Home to Lord Yelinak and his Claws of Veeshan minions. This is a massive tower which can be entered through the Wakening Land or a portal in Cobalt Scar. With winding stairs, twisting caves, and a maze among numerous wurms, wyverns, and drakes, navigation can be tricky. Unless you are an ally of the Claws of Veeshan, you are best off avoiding the city of Skyshrine.

Level 46 is required to enter the zone.

What races start KOS in Skyshrine ? Specifically are High Elves KOS to start with if they have not done anything to ruin their faction with the dragons ?

(Edit: Withdrew entire comment. Yes, I was wrong. While I had talked to people who followed a number of deities, I don't know anyone who follows Rallos Zek.
That's the whole reason I said "As far as I can tell..." in the first place though, because I _wasn't_ sure. I wish people would realize that's an invitation for them to correct me in a friendly manner.)

That said, I still haven't met anyone who started off non-KOS to ClawsofVeeshan.

I hope with "everyones seems to have the same starting factions everywhere in Velious" you are just reffering to Claws of Veeshan, cause else you are WRONG. Many ppl start off KOS with Giants, xept those, like me, that worship Rallos Zek. So NOT everyone starts off the same.

Does anyone know what quest Yelinak give's ? I know he's a member of the claw's of Veeshan, as well as everything in the Temple of Veeshan. I'm sure verant has many quests envolved with these two dragon city's provided you aren't killing for kael giants.
For those of you whom are slaying coldain dwarves for kael faction's, the skyshrine armor and kael armors are close to if not the same status in armor with the reletively same effect on brestplate, bracers, and legplates.
Im just asking if anyone knows what Yelinak has for quests thanks.

so, to get the key to Cobalt Scar you have to kill that named mob that drops it? you just have to tighten your faction belt and kill him?
RE: CS key
# Apr 17 2001 at 6:51 AM Rating: Default
The key is dropped by Ziglark Whiseperwing. If you walk past Sentry enots at the gate and take a right, there will be steps in front of you. Up the flight of stairs are 2 sentries and Ziggy.

Ok, it's not that simple. I don't have all the details, but I'll post what I know.

Fist of all, there are at least 2 factions per side. A regular faction, and a nobility faction.

Giants have at least 4 factions, although 1 of those I believe is either beta neutral or something equivalent.

To raise normal coldain faction, you kill giants and do dorf type quests. To raise the royal faction (which is needed for some of the better quests) you have to kill the higher end giants in Kael.

Kael has 2 groups of giants. Kromriff and Kromzek. They have seperate factions. You gain faction with one by killing dorfs, with the other by killing dragons (and dragon alligned things). The easiest way to do that is to spend on night hunting in sky shrine. You must be non-kos to both groups of giants in order to safely pass from eastern wastes to wakening lands. And even then, if you stray too far off the path, you may run into KOS giants from the royal faction.

There is also a royal faction in Kael. I'm not sure how to raise that one. There may be an additional faction needed to get into the Rallos Zek are. Wenglawks seems to be on beta neutral faction or the equivalent, as do the gladiators that fight in the arena.

Dragons also have at least two factions, working the same way. Kill giants for common dragon faction, kill they royal giants for royal dragon faction.
RE: Faction

You pretty much take sides in SoV.
To get better fraction with the Coldian (ice dwarf) you kill gaints and dire wolfs.
To get better fraction with the Kael (ice gaints) you kill the Coldian, coldian wolves, or Dragons(CoV)
To get better fraction with the SS (dragon city) if so probably the fraction is then (CoV) then you do the same to rise your coldian fraction.

If you want to do the Quest for all 3 then you need to do a lot of fraction fixing. I would do the quest your not KoS in then get KoS tring to fix the fraction with the other.

This is the pool room. If you're running from wakening zone:

Run through the gate, take a left, go up the stairs, take a right, go up thos stairs, take a left, then follow the path (invis) and you will see the statue he speaks of. Jump in the water, then climb up on the statue and click it with your key in hand

The words you say to the herald are "I wish to prove myself worthy" or there abouts. Play a little with that phrase, the key is hidden in what he says to you.
As for your toes and helms, just hand them into Kcor, you don't need any words to do it. I run and hand mine to him whenever I get some.

Kcor will also take the Mercenary Assignments that you get off the various raced Mercs that roam Wakening Land.

Good luck.

A guide to getting armor in skyshrine

If you are looking for armor, there are 5 types of mobs you will encounter in your quest. Of these, only two drop armor. Here's the scoop on them, where they can be found and how to hunt them.

Named guardians: Look like opaque gargoyles, con about right, drop guardian armor.
Named sentries: Look like opaque muddites, con about right, drop sentry armor.
Named drakes: look like ummmm drakes... most con about right, they're casters, some have pets, drop nothing of interest.
Crystal spiders: Lower lvl mobs, easy to kill, drop legs for a quest in skyshrine.
Gargoyle guards: Look like opaque gargoyles, have a gazillion hp's for their lvl. Drop nothing of interest.

How to hunt your armor:

First, when you zone in there are two named sentries near the zone line. They are quest mobs and have SERIOUSLY buffed up hp's. Don't even bother trying to kill them. They don't see invis, so just invis up and bypass them.

Pass through the gate. You're in a T-intersection. To the right is a room with one sentry in it. If you pull it, a guardian will also come along with a drake. The drake drops the key for cobalt scars. In the room past the sentry is another room w/ 2 more sentries. If you're looking for sentry armor, this is an easy area to camp and hold down, but the spawn rate is on the slow side.

If you turn left instead of right, you will head up a flight of stairs. Make 2 quick lefts. Go down the hall. First room on the right is the bakery.

In the bakery are 2 merchants (cook and baker). They won't aggro you. I suggest you pay them the same respect. Also in this room are 3 sentries, and 2 guardians. A gargoyle guard wanders in and out. This is a GREAT place to camp IF you can break the room. Monks can single pull it down the stairs, other than that, you pretty much need a good enchanter and a lot of fire power to break the room. Take note of Sentry Kale: He's a larger sized sentry, and a cleric mob. He's also a quest mob, so he's got higher than normal HP's. He will also CH, so be ready to stun. First thing he does when he spawns is cast valor on himself, so dispelling him makes fights go a lot faster.

Once broken, you can pull the next room down the hall (one sentry, one guard, one drake, I think) as well as the 3 mobs I mentioned above (sentry, guardian, keyholding drake). The biggest advantage of camping here is that you have a nice mix of sentry and guardian armor drops.

The last easy camp is the fountain/courtyard area. To get there, go past the quest sentries near the entrance and through the gate. Turn left, go up the stairs. Make first left turn and immediate right turn. Go up more stairs and make first left turn. This hall takes you to a room w/ two garg guards. Pain in the *** to kill, but take 'em down.

Go through the gate. You'll see a LOT of mobs, but not to worry, most can be single or double pulled.

Start by pulling the garg guard to the left. This will also aggro one of the 2 drakes to the right. Kill both mobs. Now pull the remaining drake to the right.

At this point, there are 2 guardians to both the left and the right. Have a ranger or druid harmonize one (Yes, harmony DOES work here) and pull the other.

Do this to both sides.

To the left there is a cluster of 3 drakes left. Leave them alone. One of them (Suez) is a buffed up SOB and they'll leave you be if you stay clear.

In the back, to the right, is a garg guard. Pull it and kill it.

Now way in the back are two sentries. Harmo one, pull the other. Go back and get the last one.

If the the guards at the front haven't respawned yet, go out the tunnel in the back. Bypass the room to the right -- there are 4 mobs there red to a lvl 40. At the end of the tunnel is one more guardian. Pull it and kill it.

This room gives you lots to kill. However, it's 5 guardians and only 2 sentries, so you'll get a lot more guardian gear than sentry gear. In addition, you have 2 kill 4 of the annoying high HP guards and 2 drakes.
RE: A guide to getting armor in skyshrine
# Feb 17 2001 at 8:18 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, I have been camping in SS for some time and have been pulling the whole time. I have nearly a full set of guardain armor here. In the pool room all can be single pulled without mes or harmony. Leave the drakes alone, hehe, you will be hurting if all of them attack you. You dont have to kill the Guards in the room before the fountain room but you must snare or darken the mobs you fight in the fountain room so they wont reach that room as they run. Even if one gets away and goes thru the hall, the guards wont aggro unless you run by them. You can invis up and pass them and kill the mob running further down the hall.
For clearing the room, I pulled one drake first and killed in front of the gate, then pulled the guard then next drake. I alternated sides which will give you more time inbetween spawns in case you run behind on time with spawns popping.
If you go passed the fountain room, be warned after you go thru the next room into a room with sentrys one or all of them see invis and will aggro you. This is not good as there are 6-8 in there. If you run back the way you came to try and zone you will pull the other room with drakes and all. They will prob kill you if not you wont have many hp left as the casters blast you as you run to zone. If you have a fd puller it may be possible to have them aggro the senrty room and pull them thru the small guardian room to the next hallway and fd. Hope and pray you dont get stunned. As all are pulled into next room have others in group slip passed them to the left into the hall. there is a nice long hall there that would be a good pull spot to clear the guardian room and the senrty room.
I havent tryed this yet but I believe this would work. Make sure others in group are invis so they dont aggro the room with the drakes and if the guardian in the back of the hallway is killed that hall would make a good staging point for this manuver. I will be attempting this soon, when i have a nice sized group with me. There are other rooms that can be pulled also and you can easily kill as you explore from here for some distance. I have not ventured very much further than this but went up a ramp in a room to where there were some cubes. I dont know what they drop but would like to kill some to see.

I made the mistake of joining a group of friends that were off to skyshrine when Velious came out. I didn't realize that the faction hits were going to prevent me from using the teleport circles due to dragons camping the spot, so now I've been killing countless numbers of giants to try to fix the faction. So far I'm still KOS to dragons.

Is there a recovery of dragon faction?

OK the drake is whipser something. As you zone in from waking you go straight though the first gate you will come to a T intersection, go right up stairs he spawns in the room to the left after you come up the stairs, if you kill him you will take hits agiast SS faction IE claws of viesions<sp>, the dragon faction you can either one of 2 things one do a quest which is basicaly paying 200pp for the key or have someone kill him and you loot the key.

no-drop armor now... but has anyone looked into the faction you need to complete the quests here, or is it just "kill 'em all let the Gods sort them out?"

This is more important to me.. seeing as how you can bank and such in this city... and the quested armor is more important to me as an Enchanterss...

Or do you think all is evil here? I know that there is a quest that is from here to Thurgadin... so any thoughts?????

Yes ther are quest armor from here, the quest mobs the ones who give you the quest armor are beyond the maze... yes there is a bank and merchants in here also.. this is a city that can be hunted in, just like you can hunt in Thurgian if you want also.. and Kael these cities are made to be hunted in IMHO. my shaman is Kos in SS and also in Kael, but my warrior when he gets high enough will not be KOS in SS just in Kael.

To complet the quest you have to have ambial faction with the dragons to do the quests..

Skyshrine uses "Claws of Veeshan" faction. Therefore you need to kill giants in Velious to raise it. I'm not sure if the Sentries or Guardians raise or lower any faction. Several web sites have them posted as "no faction" pluses or minuses. Does anyone know if you take a faction hit?

I'm camped there now but have not hunted yet, so I should be finding out soon.

I was very surprised last night when I thought to myself, Hey, these level 25's drop some excellent shoulders and belts for a warrior like me. So i went and decided to solo some guardians. I figured I could kill 5 or 6 before I had to Cobalt BP heal myself back up. After all, cougars are 30+ and I manage to kill a dozen of them before needing to heal.

First guardian I attacked was very green, it was blue to a level 30 at the zoneline, but that badboy had a lot of hp's and was a cleric so it healed. Also seemed like it had an insane regen. Either that or it did in fact have several thousand hits.

Seriously underconed, no 30ish person could dare try to kill solo of these. A group is needed.

I left after the first one because I realised it would take days to get a drop at that rate.

They may be level 25, but they hit like level 40's
