The City of Mist, also known as Torsis, was built under the guidance of Lord Rak'Ashiir shortly after the fall of the Shissars.

Problems arose when Rak'Ashiir's wife, Queen Neh`Ashiir, grew weary of life in Torsis, had a secret romance with High Scale Kirn, and fled the city with her lover. Rak'Ashiir gradually lost faith in his god, and one night, Cazic Thule sent one of his minions to take Rak'Ashiir's daughter away. This event prompted Rak'Ashiir to lay out the groundwork for the city's demise.

The once-great City of Mist is now home to a host of undead and golem reavers. Some of its temples and towers have withstood the test of time, and the spirits of the King and Queen remain. Bring a rogue friend to pick locks, there are many doors that don't have a key.

I've seen a lot of confusion/questions about this zone from people on TLPs trying to complete epics/other quests or people on live doing the same.

Generally for your epic drops and other stuff, everything in this zone is past the first locked door. You enter CoM from the east, and using this map and common sense you can just move West through the open areas of the zone, heading to the castle/Mansion in the far west. Once you get to the bridges that lead to the locked door, that's where many people get confused. There used to be a lot of easy ways to use illusions to get past locked doors, those techniques largely no longer work. That being said there *is* a key for this locked door, if you kill the "Captain of the Guard" (when entering CoM, cross the bridge, go through the gatehouse and take the first right turn off to that northern section and he's there) he has a chance of dropping the "Stone Key" which opens the front door of the mansion.

The next place people get confused is understanding where the named mobs Lord Ghiosk, Lord Rak'ashiir and Neh'ashiir come from. None of them will ever just be "up", instead each is spawned by killing a Black Reaver. The Black Reavers live inside the locked mansion. When you first open the mansion door you'll see a room with a Black Reaver right in the middle, with 3 spawns of golems on each side of him in a line. You can typically split these golems 2 at a time away and kill them, then fight the Black Reaver alone.

Black Reavers are highly resistant to magic and have decent AC/HP, on a live server even lowbies can kill them with a merc, but on a TLP you need to be pretty well geared/know what you're doing to do the reavers with less than a full group. Inside the mansion you'll see a couple potential pather black reavers, or possibly a "Mist Reaver", he will look just like an Iksar Golem, but can spawn a black reaver when he dies. All black reaver spawns except two work in the exact same way: when you kill the black reaver there is a % chance another black reaver can instantly spawn OR Lord Ghiosk. If Lord Ghiosk spawns, then nothing else will spawn from that reaver pull. You can potentially get 4, 5, 6 or even 7 black reavers in a row. The reavers can STOP after any death, even if Lord Ghiosk hasn't spawned (so getting Lord Ghiosk isn't guaranteed on any individual reaver, but he has a chance to spawn from them and when he does they stop their spawn cycle until the reaver fully respawns.)

Once you get past the entry room to the mansion you'll be in a long narrow hallway, you should see a lift. If you try to click it, it will say it's locked and you aren't holding the key. There *is no key* to this lift. You need a rogue or bard with high lockpicking skill to use their picks on the lift and it will take you up. There are a few tricks to getting by this but to my knowledge they all rely on things unavailable on a TLP, so you'll really need a rogue/bard for this on a TLP.

This lift takes you to a small interior area of the mansion that should have some more black reavers, a stair case and then a black reaver in a room at the top. The black reaver in the top room is one of the two special reavers I mentioned--he will not spawn into a Lord Ghiosk ever, instead when you kill that reaver, he will spawn into "Lord Rak'ashiir", generally the toughest mob in the zone.

To get higher into City of Mist, the long narrow hallway with the lift in it is your ticket even higher up, instead of taking the lift, go north down that hallway until you get to the corner, then go east/right. You'll note the hallway is now a ramp, and you're slowly ascending the city. If you follow this ramp/hallway you eventually come into a large open room that will usually have a few undead in it and maybe a golem. This is too far, go back west just outside of the room's door, and then if you go south you go through an invisible wall. At this point you'll see the translucent ramps/walkways and it's basically linear from here on out. Just keep going up and further in, you will run into two locked doors that again, require a bard/rogue to open. Neither has a key. You make your way through three "Halls" (small buildings) and when you get to the third one you'll see that the walkway is broken completely, if you just walk forward you will fall down into the water in front of the mansion. To get to the last building you either need to jump (you can mess up and fall), have very high runspeed and you can just auto run over the chasm, or just have lev (best/reliable option.) When you get into the last building you'll be in a small room with a ramp on either side leading to a black reaver up above. The MIDDLE of this room, basically any part of the floor not on the edge, is a false floor and will drop you all the way to the bottom of the city again. Go up the ramp and the black reaver up on the platform above is the reaver that spawns into Neh'ashiir. Neh'ashiir can actually drop a "Key of Torsis", a temporary key that unlocks the elevator down below (so I did lie when I said there was no key to that platform, but if you're after Rak you have to clear all the way to the top of CoM then drop down w/the temporary key to use it.)

So that's the full skinny on how to get into the reaver mansion, how to get Lord Ghiosk, Lord Rak'ashiir and Neh'ashiir to spawn.

This is a great place to come for levels 35-42ish. At 35 I showed up and the mobs conned dark blue to yellow for the majority of mobs near the entrance, with 2 reds that respawned in same place but aren't an issue. Couple notes:
-Almost every pull brings 2 mobs, especially the first 3 or 4 pulls in the zone.
-Undead/golem mobs so they don't run, drop coin and decent loot.
-If you stand too close to certain inner walls you can easily aggro more mobs from other rooms, this was only an issue for the first 30 min or so i was in there, happened like 2 or 3 times but zone line is close and safe so no real problem.
City Of Mist

Been In City of Mist farming stuff for a while now. 60 Rogue
4 Mighty Golems - 3X MoSS, 1X Mask
6 a raging golem - 6 Golem Essence Spaulders (Good Vendor Trash 215plat)
12 Warbone Overlord - 11X Gauntlets, 1X Shield
6 Plaguebone Warlord - 1 Cape of the Seer, 2 War Bracelets, 3 Mysterious Sleeves
4 Gyrating Green Slime - 4X Slimy Green Ring
1 Dead Wraith - 1 Ornate Rune Blade
1 A Terror Wraith - 1 Terror Marked Mask

Mighty Golems can randomly spawn pretty much anywhere on the bottom floor it seems, so kill everything in the zone in area and nearby. Raging Golems appear out of no where to assist other golems (they will call for help), so if a raging golem is up, he should assist the first golem you attack. Seems to be on a 2-3 hour spawn. Warbone Overlord is about 30minutes to an hour random spawn time it seems and no placeholder, he rarely has the shield and you will see the graphic for it if he does. Plaguebone Warlord, easy enough to make this guy spawn, just kill anywhere you see a skeleton and he can spawn, I have encountered him mostly where Captain of the Gaurd and Warbone Overlord spawn, zone in cross the bridge, go left, there are two rooms. Also encountered the Dead Wraith there. Gyrating Green Slime, seen three of these spawn on the bottom floor in the second part after the zone in. There are 4 slimes there and he can spawn in any place, kill them to get him to spawn (note this mob can spawn up top to but usually on the bottom). Kill captain of the gaurd to get this key if you cannot pick lock in the back of the reaver room. I have encounter one terror wraith in the first building on the top floor.

NehA'Shirr
# Feb 06 2007 at 6:17 AM Rating: Decent
To get to Neh'AShirr, and I think this might be on other boards, you can fly/levitate from the platform at the first locked door, after the reavers, to the next platform and then use eye of Zomm (Mage spell/clicky), to target Neh'AShirr, inside the next locked room. Send pet to attack, once targeted with eye, then recall pet, when it has agroed. This pulls Neh'AShirr through the locked door.

One copy of the key to the elevator drops off the Queen, and you must click or have rogue picklock into the notch in the elevator floor.
Keys for the doors
# Oct 30 2006 at 12:13 PM Rating: Decent
That is the only way to open those doors, you need to bring a rogue with you! The other doors do not have keys, just the first one off of, like you said, Captain of the Guards.
elevator not work!
# Oct 28 2006 at 6:56 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, we're at the very last platform. and we can't get the elevator to work. we got 2! of those darn key of tarris (elevator key). and we're clicking the ground of the elevator, but nothing is happening... rog clicking wont work eather! anyone know what we're doing wrong or if it might be broken?

ok so the big question is!

everyone knows about
"Captain of the Guard now drops 'A Stone Key' (NO DROP)" it hopens the first door in back of zone.

then there is "key of tarris droped buy the guy who's name starts with an N, behind door number 3 before the elevator" and that (supos to) make the elevator work.

there are 2 doors in between that don't seem to have keys. i've killed in this zone sooooo much and i not seen it, so if someone know i've sure alot of people would like to know. other than that i think it's bring a rogue with ya or do the gimp levitate trick.
solo
# Aug 12 2006 at 5:12 AM Rating: Decent
City of Mist is VERY easy to solo as a druid. My 44 druid solos there all the time, you just need to find a good camp spot in the zone(I usually choose the entrance in case something goes wrong) and keep track of the spawn timers.

My druid will cast Harmony of Nature on a nearby mob(well, if there is one) and then snare-pull the mob next to it. When I bring it to the entrance, I cast Enveloping Roots on it to hold it in place, then Stinging Swarm and Drones of Doom(having both of those together does 102 dmg every six seconds) and I only cast Drifting Death when I have a TON of mana. Using the root 'n rot technique is very effective and they lose about 10% health every six seconds with SS and DoD. Just be sure to have plenty of mana before you pull and be ready to run away in case something goes wrong. Having clarity is extremely helpful as well, but my horse was just as good. At 44 I got 3% yellow exp every kill.

City of Mist is an awesome place to solo as a druid because:

1 - Mobs are not very resistant at ALL!
2 - Outdoor zone, so all spells work.
3 - The mobs here hit from 15-110 dmg, so with Temp or Virt, we can even tank in case root breaks.

This zone is not good for kiting because it's fairly small spaces you fight in, btw. But, if you have a mount or clarity pots, temp, root and DoTs, you can fight here on your own as a druid. As for the rest of the classes, I'm not sure. My beastlord was 55 when I took her there and she could poke a mob and it'd die.

I need to get at the human skellie to finish the concussion quest and need a concise summary please.

1) What mob drops the key for the locked door to get to him?

2) What level lockpick is needed to open the door without the key?

3) Can a bard open the door or does it need to be a rogue?

This is probably all somewhere on the web but I can't find it and it doesn't seem to be here. Graffe has a good description but the map links are broken.

Graffe's links were working yesterday.

As you enter the zone, move forward to the water. Look right. Across the water on a ledge are 2 skellies, kill them. From the location where the skellies were, cast Sense Undead. The Human Skellie is right up above you. I used an SK, /assist to attain my target, went to the other side of the wall into the water and all the way into the corner and taunted. The skellie came down and attacked. Moved to dry land and rooted the human skellie. FD. Cleric cast Atone twice. The skellie obviously lost aggro. Handed the bottle. Have my spell.

This place absolutely sucks. I went with my 65 chanter who doesnt have dire charm yet to work on epic... Nearly every mob i tried to charm would break in under a minute, root would never stick and the adds were to much for my tin can to clear agro radius is funky for the different areas... All and all I spent 6 hours in that place for nothing and dread having to go back... Proly best idea is to bring some bored friends and smash the whole blasted place.

If you are a 65 enchanter and are using charm then you suck not the zone. Our highest level animation with haste, NDT and pet weapons totally owns this zone except for a very few of the named mobs so long as you keep shiny bob properly uproared and slow the mob he is fighting. There is really no need for a 65 enchanter to charm here at all.

Hey come on!! I'm a 52 ranger and I suck real bad, but I can handle this zone. Root works for me about half the time, snare always. If I solo melee a dark blue con Golem it will take me down to 50% health. And remember, rangers cannot tank... A slight change in tactics and I'm sure a 65 enchanter could almost clear the zone.

Maybe for a solo Chanter, but I think it's a pretty interesting zone with some decent drops for the relatively untwinked. Question: How do you get to NehA'shirr without a rogue as the room before hers is locked, and I haven't heard any mention of a Key to this room.

I really want to get to NehA'shirr for the mage epic :)

Never mind I have done NehA'shirr and I now have torch.

It can be done without a rogue, and solo as a 65 mage. I advise skipping the text below, and figuring it out yourself. Come back if you get stuck. =) Back already? Use the stone key from the Captain of the Guard to get through the throne room. Take passage to right up onto skyway. 2nd platorm is locked - on a fast drogmar I could run/lev to the walkway beyond the second platform. Back door to the 2nd is -not- locked. 3rd platform is locked - again sitting on drogmar, now with nose poked through door. Cast Eye of Zomm, which appears INSIDE the 3rd platform. Target the Black Reaver from the eye, sic pet, spam "back" to get pet back through the door. Watch out! When Neh'Ashiir spawns, she has a tendency to fall off the skyway, which takes the pet out of range for any further heals...

I don't see a way that a 35 could do this dungeon. It takes a well rounded group of 45+ to survive here. Even then, its still a very unsafe dungeon.

Imho, this is one of the most fun zones in the game, partly because of the danger.

The mobs tend to hit harder and have fewer hit points. This makes this a great place to grind. The kills come fast and frequent. There are many static spawn points, so pulling is very easy. Its an outdoor zone, so no XP modifier. That hardly matters when you can make 2 kills a minute.
At 49, I'm getting 1 level every 2 hours with a good group. XP is very good until 53 - IF you are killing fast.

They may have nerfed the named spawns at some point in the last two months. We used to pull here and get 2 or 3 named an hour (on Stromm); everyone would leave with choice rares. Now, the rate seems to be down to about 1 named every 2 hours.
