The Trolls of Grobb once lived in harmony. That all changed in February of 2003 when the Frogloks took over the city, renaming it "Gukta, Outpost of Marr."

Following a long, drawn out war, the Trolls regained control of Grobb in August 2005, forcing the Frogloks into the Mountains of Rathe.

I'll assume the mosquitos have been back in Grobb for awhile...

They /con yellow to my level 14 troll. I have killed 12 of them (using a merc), have only found 4 spawn locations near the entrance to the city. They are indifferent unless provoked. They are social and will assist each other. The troll npc all ignore you killing them (including walking right through them). Zero loot on the 12 kills.

Edit: as a level 15 they have conned to me as even. I have seen 5 defiant world drops off them, and a hero's forge drop --no other loot (not even the global silks and such). There is also a 5th static spawn up high in the hills in the middle of the city.

Did anyone get the wizard guild master to accept or tell you someone else to give your starting paper to?

Hiya,
Hubby and I have been hunting in the swamp by the froglok tower up near SRO zone. There's a necro there that cons yellow to us at levels 10 and 11. He's surrounded by a bunch of skellies and a couple ghoulish frogloks.

We killed him when his henchmen were taken out by a passing scout, but he didn't drop anything. Does anyone know what this guy is here for?

The item Zok Moic is looking for is named "Spore Fungus". It has the following properties:

MAGIC ITEM
WT: 0.1 Size: Tiny
Class: None
Race: None

I bought one from Zok Glak for 1s5c and then turned it in successfully just by hailing Zok Moic.

Liquid Fungus doesn't appear to be the item which needs to be turned in to Zok Moic. I bought Liquid Fungus from Moic himself for less than 2 sp, yet he was not interested in the item (neither by hailing him or giving him the item directly).

The quest continues.

Hiya...
This and MANY other things asked about here can be bought fairly cheaply off the merchants in Gukta.

The liquid fungus does drop off the Fungusman Trackers as previously mentioned.

Pretty sure my Froglok Cleric got this off one of those goofy-tripping mushroom-men -- Fungusman Tracker. I can't remember if any dropped from the little toadstool spores-types.

Hope that helps you. Good luck.

when you turn in the troll raider helm does the brootch activate because it is only taking up space in the bank!
RE: beginning brootch
# May 30 2003 at 9:10 AM Rating: Decent
No, you have to do a bunch of quests before your charm becomes a worthwhile item. Just bank it if you're going to do the newbie quests. You may want to bank it in case its needed for a Froggie only quest later on.

Don't get rid of your brooch. A number of the classes can use it to obtain the Gukta Initiate Soulstone...the quest is listed here on this site.

Good luck.

I was doing one of the newb quests, where you wander around and learn the area of gukta, and eventually you have to get a troll raider's head and give it to Gaz Lieutenant somethinorother. He told me to ditch the head and go talk to the elders deep in the city. The elders don't give me a follow on quest. Did I miss something, and what exactly will I get for finishing this?

I haven't tried visiting Grobb since the change yet. However, after killing the Fungus Mutant trying to do the Paw of Opolla quest, I became KOS to the frogloks in Upper Guk. The frogloks are supposed to be friendly to most races, but will they already be against my druid? Any ideas before I go in there?

The Gukta frogloks in Gukta (formerly Grobb) and Innothule are on the Frogloks of Gukta faction, not Frogloks of Guk. Past, present, or future actions against Frogloks of Guk apparently mean nothing to the Gukta frogloks. By default, any followers of good deities, plus any non-evil races that are agnostic or follow neutral deities, are indifferent (followers of Mithaniel or Erolissi Marr are amiable). Any evil race or followers of evil deities are KOS. Not sure what can be done to raise this; killing any of these frogloks obviously lowers it. There are no faction hits for killing the troll prisoners or dometicated spiders and mosquitoes in Gukta, just the frogloks. Note that the prisoners will help each other, and the domesticated animals seem to sympathize with prisoners, so take this into account if bashing the imprisoned bashers.

Most of the former residents of Grobb that survived the takeover and didn't get imprisoned, now reside in the Neriak Foreign Quarter. Presumably, they're all on the same faction that they were in Grobb. If you're a troll in need of training, spells, or quests, check in Neriak.

More than likely it will have guards out front like most starting cities. Just con one of those before heading in as I will. Have the same problem killing thousands of minotaurs while waiting for Raster.... I'll post back here again on whether they hated me or not when I get a chance to visit. (I have bottomed out my frogloks of guk faction).
RE: Faction
# Feb 12 2003 at 10:02 PM Rating: Good
The frogloks in Gukta have their own seperate faction, so I think you'll do alright. I'm a paladin of Mithaniel Marr, and I am dubious to the Frogloks of Guk, but am amiable to the frogloks in Gukta by default. You can also just con the guards by the entrance, just to be sure.

When I visited Gukta after the take over I went around hailing the npcs trying to get some of the new quests made with the invasion. I found one particular quest from Dar Forager Lumun. Copy of what he said:

[Sat Feb 08 23:54:34 2003] Dar Forager Lumun says 'Nice to meet you, Psyo! Please have a look at my wares, I have taken great pains to brings only the best that the swamps have to offer. Or perhaps you are here to make an [exchange]?'
[Sat Feb 08 23:54:35 2003] You think you are heading NorthWest.
[Sat Feb 08 23:54:40 2003] You say, 'What exchange?'
[Sat Feb 08 23:54:41 2003] Dar Forager Lumun says 'I am always in need of more skins, so I will swap three identical unruined pelts for one of my higher quality versions.'

Of course the quests in Gukta didn't work at the time, so I wasn't able to see if he was true to his word. Anyway, it seems that players will have less trouble mastering tailoring (since hq skins are somewhat rare).

Actually the quets was working just fine on the night of the GM event. I went to the bank pulled out my medium and low quality pelts and VOILA!!!

A reminder though. This does not work for ruined pelts! The NPC says so but people on another board have already missed that part hailing ruined pelts as GOOD AS GOLD! Not so. :)

Before everyone gets their codpieces in a wad...wait for the expansion to come out before you decide to get upset. You never know if Trolls will be getting a better place than that hole in the wall that looks like it was one of the first designed zones in the game.
RE: Grobb
# Feb 09 2003 at 12:23 PM Rating: Decent
True, there will be new zones added to the game with the expansion so a new city would make perfect sence. I don't think Verant would really ***** a race out of a homeland completely. It's just to ad to the story line.

We Trolls have been banished from our homes for the new expansion, Legacy of Ykesha.

Trolls bound in Grobb have had their bindpoints moved to Neriak and the Swamp Port clickers for Troll and Ogre Shaman now send you to Nektulos Forest.

Since this is a strategy forum, I'm going to keep all my personal opinions (and profanities) concerning this new expansion to myself.

Started a Troll fighter, thought it would be fun to play something big and evil. Started him and his is fun as a fighter, but I looked around then looked on this sight and there seems to be hardly ANY quest for low level trolls. I understand you get beanies for being a troll and they want to maintain game balance. But jezz, throw us a bone so we are not simply running around killing grud willy nilly. Don't get me wrong I've found this charcter fun, but it would be great if he was working towards something significant ... like the Newbie armor quest that most races have now, I'm am sure they could add something that wouldn't hurt game balance so us young trolls could have that sense of accomplishment. My thoughts welcome replys.
