Revamped on August 26, 2003 during Legacy of Ykesha, this is the higher level version of
Cazic-Thule.

The Accursed Temple of Cazic Thule sits in the southern portion of the Feerrott. Dwelling within its boundaries are a whole host of lizardmen worshippers and various aggressive species ranging from spiders, raptors, and giant mosquitoes to bubbling oozes, gorillas, and greenblood piranha, all of which fiercely protect the temple grounds.

Note: For the higher level revamp version of this zone, which is available during the "Hardcore Heritage" event in june, click here.

Soe has changed this zone to lvl 85! A mob will kill you soon as you pop into the zone if you are not prepared. Mob hits for around 1700 points per strike. I was unaware of the change and went in with my 61 beast, I was dead when I got there!

I think this was a special event because I just zoned in, made my way to the tunnels to the Wizard Spire then went to the top of the pyramid and worked my way down inside. All along the way the highest my lvl 72 came across were light blue mobs.

Dear SoE,

Stop *$%*ing with classic, old zones!!!
Leave them be for those of us who wish to visit them and
remember them just the way they were.
If you want to do something new, add a zone into one of your
new cookie cutter expansions and leave classic EQ alone.
By the way, can we have the original commonland, lava storm, nektulos, highpass, desert of ro, oasis, and innothule zones back to the way they were?
Thank you.

Just figured I would let everyone know, don't bother wasting your time with the Avatar of Fear event. The items might be the best for a lvl 51, but the event is buggier than hell. I've attempted it twice now and each time I get to the point when the other avatars start popping after the waves and everything decides to poof on me, despite my killing all the mobs before the AoFear even makes a full circle. I couldn't even engage the avatars or anything either. Hopefully sony fixes this event though.

In the front, everything was grey to my 73 chanter. In the back, where I need to go for do a pickup for my 1.5, see invis mobs are dark green and light blue, at least to the point where I was eaten.
Hot Zone?....Not really
# Apr 09 2007 at 6:54 AM Rating: Default
I can't see how this is a hot zone when I was getting the same amount of exp kiting flies and rats in PoD.

Myself (55 nec), my brother (57 nec & 53 shm), and guildie (63 shd) went here last night killing mobs at zone in and courtyard. All mobs were db to me and I was getting 1 blue tick exp per kill, the same amount I was getting killing lb flies in PoD. There is no way I could solo the lizards in CT, they would eat my pet and then me and still be hungry. This zone is way too hard and the risk is not worth the mediocre reward. So if any of you are wondering why GE is more popular, come to CT and you will see.

Where is a good place to go after you clear the entrance? We went through a random door and ended up down in the slime pits. Any rhyme or reason there? We got the named Mosquito once, but is there some better direction to where you can go? Most mobs were light blue cons to 64. How do you get to the tougher mobs?

repyling almost a year later!

from the entrance, there's lots of places to go. to the right through the maze is the Pyramid, where you can pull the Jungle Hunter PH (its a roaming spider to the left, if you have your back to the zone wall, facing the pyramid with the gnome perched on top), try for single pulls from the ring of lizards to the right, and the temple with the miniature avatar and the five spawn in front of it, to the left.
to the left of the entrance is a door which leads two places. inside and to the right, is the Throne Room. there's 3 wanderers in the yard outside with 4 or 5 static spawns. inside is the throne, and a good camp immediately to the left and in the corner next to the tiny hallway. or you can go through to the door to the right of the throne, which leads to some stairs leading up. go up both flights of stairs and you'll find two static spawns, guarding an empty circle-hallway. both of these are placeholders... and inside and to the left of the doorway, is a long empty hallway which leads to the back of the sewers - the hidden entrance. this is much better for camping the Lifesapper Mosquito, since he can roam in the first pool you come across.
also in the main area outside the entrance is a double-doorway. through that, take a right, follow the hallway to the left and you'll find a room with a jail - this is where the Tae Ew Guard spawns. keep heading down this hall to find the circular grove of raptors. keep going further to find a mud temple with roamers, several static spawns, and an entrance to the below-area - this somehow feeds back into the sewers.
finally, there's 4C. go through the maze to the pyramid, and with your back to the pyramid and facing the zone wall, go left, past two spiders, take a right to find 3 lizards, take another right along a corridor and you'll find a big temple. lots of roamers here. each camp of 3 lizards at the 4C temple has a particular named. inside the 4C is a lot of thul tae ews, some enraged amygdalans (rather tough, these) and at the top, the thulian high ritualist, which drops a quest item, along with a gangplank leading to the sewers.

Description:

Located off the southern end of The Feerrott, Cazic-Thule was home to low-to-midlevel lizardmen. In early 2002, it became cursed as an army of high level lizardmen, gorillas, raptors, and spiders took over. Everything is immune to charm, and very few creatures see invisibility. One of the more popular draws to Cazic-Thule would be the Ring of Slime.

Back in 2002 some of this stuff would have been pretty decent. Don't think they've touched this zone since revamp other than to make it a hotzone with a couple new mobs.

People used to invis while zoning in, only so the tentacles wouldnt agro and domino everything to the raid while they ran to the wall.

61 Pally
62 Cleric (Box)

Well, I just left this zone tonight and I'll tell you, OUCH!!

For starters, I zoom my camera out to see who's coming up behind me and the mobs at the entrance do something to it quite often. The angle of the camera change all over the place.

Second, they change the image of all the toons in the area. I was fighting myself much of the time...LOL

Third, I beat on one mob (LB) for a good 20 minutes and only took 5% off him. He took 80% off me. I know I need to work on my AA's, so that's part of my problem.

Forth, when I did finaly get him down to 50%, 3 of his buddies jumped my cleric when I was only using HoT

The constant view changes, very little impact on there HP, and the constant aggro of my cleric made this zone a little harder than I thought for my level.

Oh, and my group killed five mobs and I only got 2 blue ticks of XP.

butt kicked...

Ok this zone has been ramped up a bit since it was first created...I'm not entirely sure the highest thing in there is 60 either....maybe 65. There are some dark blues in there that appear awfully dark blue to me. My paci would hit them so they could be 65 or lower...but I think they are over 60.

Since someone asked, I don't think an untwinked person in his low 50's could solo here. Been a while since I played a true soloing class so I could be on crack. It's mana intensive on my canned caster though....

Everything I've found so far can be pacified, stunned, mezzed (took a chanter for backup once), and slowed. However, the stuff in there hits very hard and very fast and they have a LOT of hp (even the casters have more than you'd think). They can *all* summon, and most of the casters will gate if given half a chance. At least half the casters are healer types as well and there's often 2 or 3 in a knot which makes taking them out before one heals the other and vice versa a pain. Towards the back you got necro types and they will happily fear you and send you to your death in a pile of adds if you let them. LOTS of stuff in there sees invis so don't think you can just bop along to anywhere specific.

They hit very fast and seem to hit hard enough to stun you a LOT which is more dangerous than the actual damage they do, especially if the bulk of your dps comes from spells and you don't have a pet *pout*. They also hit easily for an average of 120 or so on my 70 cleric with 1400 or so ac and some avoidance aa's. That adds up fast if they are unslowed because they quad and double like crazy. I suspect some of the dark blue ones can enrage though I never saw a message for it and I *know* at least a couple in there flurry...not sure if anything rampages as I was soloing when I got pwned by adds :)

The zone is an absolute maze and it repops rather quickly. For all that though, it can be a fun zone. There are a couple of interesting quests in here and it *is* an outdoor zone so you can use all those snazzy outdoor only spells. You can even be on a horse if you are shrunken enough to be able to move afterwards. There are some valuable tradeskill drops in here and some rare higher end research drops as well. The weapons and such that drop are for the most part vendor/tribute fodder.

Since the revamp, it would be tough.
However, if your AC is good, you can sit around the mobs at zone-in / courtyard. I wouldn't try going much deeper.

Can wizzys solo here?

I have a lev 65 wizzy and was thinking of obtaining a manastone. Because a manastone only works in the old world, this zone seems to be ideal.

Is it possible to solo exp in this zone with a wizzy? and how much hp do most of the mobs have?

most every mob in CT will summon, a well geared 65 wizzy might kill quick enough, but without a slower it would be a risk...
Question

29 posts
I've simply got a question about whether or not this would be possible. I'd like to go to this zone and camp some barbed rubicite pauldrons. Can this be done by a 3-man group consisting of 63 druid, 65 beastlord, and 58 cleric? My basic plan is to zone in at the port area using the lizard blood potions, make our way through the northeast section of the maze to the pyramid, use harmony of nature on the possible adds, and pull the spiritcaller/PH with a no damage aggro spell (such as a resist debuff). Beastlord can slow quite well, and all 3 of us have good resist gear plus we'd have the ability to boost our resists with buffs. If anybody thinks this couldn't be possible, would the addition of a 65 Bard to the group change that, in your opinion? Also, does anybody know an approximate respawn time on the mobs at the pyramid? Thank you very much for any input you can offer.
RE: Question
# Jun 01 2004 at 5:47 AM Rating: Good
Ok, first off, lizard blood potions are hard to get hold of, so just take the Oggok book and run to the zone. There are two spots between the zone and 4c entrance where there can be see invis mobs: just inside the first door, above, behind, and to the right, the lizard at the top of the ladder can be a tae ew aggressor...crappy loot, not worth killing, but if you have to, you can hug the left wall as you come in, go up the left ladder and back through the door till you come around behind the aggressor, where you can pull him single easily. Then as you enter maze and head to 4c there's a little room with stone columns and two spiders: the southernmost one can be a large hunter or a named spider, both of which see invis...all spiders are gimp, so you could take both of them if you had to. As you enter 4c, the bottom two mobs never see invis, and the mobs who roam the floor never see invis (except Terrorclaw on the north side), but all other spots could be see invis.

Here's how I break into 4c...adjust tactics as necessary for your group. I have somebody pac/lull one of the bottom guards, split em and kill em. Then I get invis, look up the stairs and click where the mob is at the top, and con it to see if it sees invis. If neither top door guard sees invis, I have someone pac them both, then I get invis, go up, and pull something down. Perhaps 6ish total mobs roam past there - I've never counted - plus the bottom two guards, plus the top two guards. Once it's clear or clear enough, I have everyone move up. We use wake of tranquility on the corners when possible- it's faster and easier than single pac. I have someone wake the first corner on the left, then I hug the inside wall around the corner till I'm on the west side. Kill the roaming raptor. Kill at least the middle mob in the first corner, ph for the adept. Wake the next corner (no named spawn there), pull the north side raptor past them to west side (can respawn as Terrorclaw). Carefully get around the corner and try to pull the first thul inside the pyramid (ph for spirtcaller, aka Two Pauldrons McGee).

At this point you can move up inside the pyramid, first floor, west side, and camp there. If you are smart and watch where mobs roam you can hold the camp easily with 3 people. As a special bonus, the west side thul on the second level is ph for the torturer, aka Two Earrings McGillicuddy, and the middle thul in the 3rd or NE corner on the floor is ph for a thul tae ew ritualist (Not a tae ew ritualist! Not a thulian high ritualist!). If you feel like life on the edge you could go up to the top and camp the enraged amygdalan for his mask...the westernmost amygdalan protector is his ph...enraged and maybe normal amygdalans are immune to magic and have hella ac, and come in pairs unless you pac. Anywhere in 4c is a nasty CR, so be careful. Respawn on all non-event mobs in CT is 19.5 minutes. Somebody needs a strong cure disease spell for the aoe slow (Bane of Thule) - pure blood or counteract disease cure it in one cast. Many mobs in 4c enrage. I like swords.

One tactic I've heard of but not tried is getting lev and running up the sides of walls into the pyramid. You could hold the camp for sure if you got up in the pyramid, but getting there safely would be tough. It might be possible with those three if you all knew what you were doing, but adding the bard would probably be necessary, as there are hordes of hostile lizards running around hasted at sow speed doing aoe slow, aoe poison, snare, lifetap, cheal, and telling you what they plan to do with your soul after they rip your heart out.

I've been here so many times I can tell you almost anything about any mob in 4c. If I listed it all here it would be a book, so send me a tell sometime.

Where is the best place to farm for Flawless Tae Ew hides and what mobs should I look for? I have a 65 Monk and Druid that I would like to farm hides with to make the monk some light WR bags.

I am assuming the hides drop off some type of Tae Ew guys, but there are several different types of "Tae Ew" mobs in different locations, and Im still not sure which I need or where would be the best place to farm.

I might take a few more with me sometimes, but would like to be able to farm duo as well. Any suggestions?

They are supposed to drop off of any of the lizards. Also, they're called Hardened Lizard Hides. Not sure if it was just a typo originally, but I've seen them and those are the hides you're looking for.

I've been told the best drop rate is in the throne room but they've been seen to drop all the way at the entrance (Unconfirmed on that last part).
