At the base of the Direwind Cliffs are deep valleys infested with death and disease. Of the griffons, bears, and wolves that are still alive, most are infected with some sort of illness, perhaps brought on by the Darkroot sporali which are now rampant in the area and feeding off the corpses of the deceased.

Direwind is also home to a clan of gnolls. And as evidenced by the ratkin and ratcallers among their ranks, they too have not escaped the diseases at work here.

The forces of Dyn`leth are abundant in the area, as they man the watch towers along the mountain cliffs. The Gray Legion occupies a valley in the southeast while the Black Legion resides in several camps just outside the passage to Ashengate. They all have one thing in mind: Protect the Reliquary of the Scale.

The cliffs themselves make for a steep trek. One must be careful while ascending the mountains, as one false step will lead to certain death in the canyons below. The dark and gloomy Direwind Cliffs are a far cry from the Sunderock Springs which lie to their south.

There is an entire group of NPCs, associated with Red Legion (Red Legion Warrior, Berserker, etc.) that is missing completely from the NPC database. Level 70-76 mobs. They are usually grouped with the Black Legion mobs.

Were you solo in this zone or did you have a merc or were you getting help from higher level characters?

Any word on which mobs are good head-shot victims?
Kiting

There's a good spot for kiters outside the ashengate entrance area (outside the wall the guardians of the gate are guarding) that you can get easy solo pulls of the ratkins with a wide open space to kite them around at. Yellow cons at 76.
Good xp

This zones XP rate in comparison to Sunderrock/Stepps (All current hotzones) is amazing. I was only getting 2 notches of blue per kill in Sunderrock/Stepps, but here I was getting a full blue, maybe a little more per kill. Got 2 levels in about 2 hours grinding here.

Came here with my shammy at 68 /w 70 AA... Nothing special at all =D

Both.

Drops off Deathshed in this zone, and Sulfurog in Sunderock. IIRC Deathshed drops mold/pattern everytime, Sulfurog is random.
