Miragul's Menagerie expeditions are initiated by talking to NPCs in the Wayfarer camp in Everfrost Peaks (just north of the fork in the ice river).

Deep within the frozen tundra, magic has taken on a form of its own. As Miragul's cursed form walks on the frigid ground above, his menagerie of artifacts and arcane knowledge secretly awaits his return. Created through the use of magic, this lair now seeks power of its own. Do you have strength to harness power that waits beneath the ice... or will you become another specimen in Miragul's collection?

Level 85 LDoN

If you're trying to do some LDoNs as a level 85 (I'm doing it for the Dodge aug), here are some things you should know:

The average level in the group should be level 83 or lower. Merc's count when computing the average.
Hard doesn't seem to be available. I suspect it is because normal at our level is already the max LDoN was programmed for, with all green and grey mobs.
You will get 105 points per mission.
I prefer the Single Boss type. You have to kill 20 mobs before the boss will spawn. This is obviously faster than the Mob Count type missions, which require 50 kills. I assume it is also faster than collection.
I did a rescue mission. All the mobs were level 25-30 and it gave 6 points.

Just grouped to request this LDoN. 80 druid, 80 merc, 87 mage. No dice. Wouldn't let me request an adventure. Maybe 83 isn't the average? I'd guess 80 is max, but dunno. I used to be able to get in as a 79 druid with 81 mage and merc.
LDON Raid, The Spider Den

WASTE of time
Drop it and pick a different LDON raid to do

This does NOT drop any AUGs of any type
and It takes about 40 mins to do

Tons of ADDS to clear to get to crap loot
None of it worth listing
Cause we are only after the AUGS
Spider Den (raid)
# Jul 28 2006 at 8:26 PM Rating: Decent
NDA on AB did this one on 28 July 2006.

I think that it was on normal setting. The ZI is in the tower on the hill to the south of the EF camp. The map is the mirc map called The Spider Den, and I believe that the final 3 mobs were in the southern most part of the map.

Usual DB trash consisting of frostfoot, ice brute, swirling magic vortex and icespinners. Ice brute appears to cast AE Ice Smash.

Yu have to default a Swirling Magical Guardian (even con to lvl 70) and on death Lost Minions of Miragul got worse. SMG procs Color Vortex and also AE debuff. Hits for about 1.7k.

More trash until zone emote ... Three guttural voices are heard conversing in the nearby area. The Frostfoot goblin masters are very close.

3 red con to lvl 70 pop:
- Warlord Petrad (pic)
- Sage Venos (pic)
- Oracle Brofam (pic) : casts Darkened Decay.

Each can be pulled separately and have a fair amount of HP. Cornering is a pain dur to the odd angle of the ice walls, so we just kept turning them to hold position.

A chest pops on last kill called Petrad's Frozen Chest. We opened by smashing to, not pickable by Rogue. Only LDoN caster unlock spells used were cleric and they didn't do the trick.

Chest Loot: Ancient Ice Shard of Life (pic), Padded Frostfoot Sandals (pic), 2 x Glob of Slush Water

* Items & mob with (pic) after the name are links to the relevant screenshots that are not in Allakhazam.

LDON raiding
# Oct 19 2004 at 8:00 PM Rating: Decent
I am hoping somebody here can shed some light on this topic for me. Is there a minimum level to be able to do LDON raids? Does the spread in levels matter like they do in normal LDON adventures? What can you tell me about setting up a raid for this? Not looking for group set-ups or anything like that. Just anything dealing with levels of chars and such. I know some of the "Hard" levels are similar to EP and Time. what about normal? or is all of this based on average level of raid? The LDON book (shipped with the CD's) says any levels can raid and the dungeon is based on average level of raid party. Is this still true?

Thanks for the help everyone!!

Average level of the group has to be 20. There can be members of the group under level 20, but the average level of everyone needs to be at least 20. This has been the case since LDoN went live, so there has been no change.

I have heard there is a way to return an unused aug to the ldon npc's to get credit back.

Anyone have any earthly clue how to do this?

Or does anyone have a link I can click to find out?

You would be best off joining the Chat Channel dedicated to LDON, as opposed to visiting the various camps. On Karana, for example, if you /join ldon, you can often find a group within a few minutes as there are usually close to 150+ people on the channel at any given time. On Karana it's skewed towards the high level range, but even there you can usually get a group in a short period of time regardless of level.

Could anyone help me out with a place to find organized, detailed information on the known augments? Allakhazam doesnt seem to have a section for augments just yet...

OK several questions. I will use the 100 AP Aug Icicle Strike as my example.

Assuming you attach this Proc aug to a weapon which already has a proc ( lets say Venomous Axe of the Velium Brood).

    1. Can you make a weapon with 2 procs, or will one cancel or erase the other? ( attaching Icicle Strike to Venomous Axe)

    2. Will both effects proc at the same time, or will the proc chances be calculated individually?

    3. Do the procs have to be of the same type ( say both Cold based) or different to have both exist side by side or doesn't it matter?

In response to your questions (I currently have the Icicle Strike Augment on my Sword of the Crypt Keeper, which has its own proc of Blood Talon, a 50 hp lifetap):

1: Yes, as long as the Procs are not identical (no Ic)icle Strike Augment on a weapon that already has Icicle Strike. This is currently up for debate, however, as no one I am aware of has actually tried to do so for fear of nullifying their augment.

2: They are calculated seperate, but can go off at the same time. I've had 4 procs, 2 from each, go off with 4 swings in one situation. It can get even more fun when you have Boon or NDT on, as you can get triple procs (one from weapon, one from augment, one from your illusion form).

3: Nope. I'm using Icicle Strike and Lifetap at the moment, for example.

    # Nov 17 2003 at 12:25 PM Rating: Decent
Just wondering if anyone else has had problems with this dungeon while doing assasinate or rescue missions? It just seems to be WAY too large and linear for a rescue or assinate mission since the target mobs are at the very end of the dungeon requiring you to kill almost every mob in the dungeon just to get to the target. I've failed this dungeon twice now with decent groups and can usually do fairly well otherwise but this dungeon just seems like its designed to cause failure.

If this is one of the dungeons they toned down the spawn rates on, it looks like they need to do it some more. This is just ridiculously difficult.

    # Feb 17 2004 at 3:15 PM Rating: Decent
We too have problems with assassinate missions. We have no problems in any of the other themes. I am wondering if it would be easier to bypass as many mobs as you can, and clear starting from the areas from where the boss is supposed to spawn. This would mean that he/she doesnt have any buddies in the area, and you wont have to fight your way to them after they spawn. After you kill the sob, then you can fight your way out till kicked out or port out. Problems I see with this are that mobs are a mix of undead that see thru regular invis and regular mobs that might also see thru invis. Maybe Pacy could work. What do you think. BTW, I am not claiming that this would work or that its even a smart thing to do, just putting something out there for discussion.

    Last Night on an adventure

    group
    57 necro
    55 pally
    57 mage
    57 Bst
    56 Ranger
    56 shammy

At about 10 kills in on a slaughter mission of 52 the Pally (Mt) dies the bst dies and the Ranger goes LD.

Kinda looks like the mission is going to fail but the 3 of us left continue on.

I got the illustrious roll of playin main tank. I had a virtue of course and am by no means a twink. The Mage pulled I would send pet hit the mob with Vexing Mordina and then step in and melee. Of course who would get the aggro??

Me. Was fine though with the mordina tapping 122hp off the mob I seldom dropped below 50% health before mob died and was normally in the 80's or mid 90's by the time the mordina wore off.

The three of us worked like this for about 20 minutes and the beast caught up to us 10 minutes later the pally shows up and says he got a buff and is good to go now and that wont happen again. I laughed my **** off on the very next fight the pally was down to about 8% health when fight was over. Then he sat in a trap and was the end of him again.

LD ranger now joins us again so I am tanking away again. We have 15 minutes left in the adventure when Pally joins us again with only 6 mobs to go to complete the mission. Pally starts barkin about him being MT and being the one to pull etc etc .

That pally sure was not happy that we as a group decided to continue on with what was workin for us.

Anyhow we completed the mission and even took down the named 2nd to last mob.

I was very surprised that we were able to survive let alone complete the mission having had 2 members gone for over half of the mission.

I had a couple of close calls as MT but i would just go fd and let the others finish the mob while I lay dead.

One of the best and funnest missions I have been on to date and have done at least 2 dozen.

Amazing how circumstance can teach you what your class is really capable of.

    # Oct 05 2003 at 11:39 PM Rating: Decent
    Just a word of warning....
Too much was happening in our last adventure encounter in EF to recall all details. But during it, a chest was opened (?) or distrubed somehow and everyone in the party had "Rune of Warding" cast on them. It lasted a good 30-45 minutes (didn't actually wear off until we were done and were waiting for split!). It dramatically slowed down our casting time (almost 2-3 seconds) so the cleric, as others, had difficulty casting heals, nukes, slows etc. It also lowered our armour class significantly.

Nothing helped us get rid it...cure poison, cure disease, remove curse...didn't want to try cancel magic as we all had various and numorous buffs and KEI etc. and were mid-adventure.

If anything helps to remove this, please let me know. Also...just be warned..this one is nasty!

    It also lowers ATK.

I was messing around in an MM dungeon with my baby BST and came across a pile of bones on a table. When I targetted it, the target window displayed "bone pile" or something like that. When I used the new Inspect button, a line showed up in the chat window, with yellow letters, saying something like, "a pile of bones". I hailed it, but it didn't respond. When you tried to con it, all that showed up was the yellow text in the chat window. I had never seen anything like this before in LDoN, and haven't seen anything like it since.

It so happened that the previous adventure I was on failed at the very end because some dipsh^t opened up a chest while we were escorting a rescue NPC back to the zone. The wipe caused us to lose time, and subsequently lose the adventure. I was very leary of even glancing at a chest after this, and this adventure was going good so I didn't want to Fk it up by toying with this thing.

I never went back to check on this pile of bones, but if anyone has come accross something similar, please let us all know about it.

Me and my low 40s group did like 5 missions in a row on high difficulty we were all twinked with fungi tunic gear and PoP drop weapons I.E. my 40 cleric had 54ac tunic with 9 to all stats and the delightful orb of forgoten magic that proced alot for 200s with bards atk songs etc... We were clearing the zone with 30 minutes left, basically owning and getting almost 1/2 a level a run and we all leveled like 1-2 times that day when we got a new adventure after all of us leveled up from last adventure. There was an enormous increase in the level of mobs. We were rulers of all we survey and then pawns to be trampled under foot. with no change to the group using the same strategy, we ran out of time before getting even 3/4 of the way there and wiped twice cause it was like we zoned into a Planes of Power zone at level 40. Each mob took 2 complete heals where before the inky monk could solo 2 mobs at the same time and not go under 70% life. I only say this to warn you that sometimes the jump in level od dungeon can be quite significant if your group levels alot from 1 adventure to the next.

Another thing to consider is the TYPE of mission. Was doing mid 30s dungeons with an alt, and was one of the lower in the group at 35 (highest was 39). Got two collection type adventures, and most mobs conned blue to me, and we cleared the entire dungeon (nothing left on track) with 30-45 minutes left over (yes, very twinked group). We then took a slaughter, and the mobs conned WHITE to YELLOW to me). Well, we managed to finish the adventure, wsince it just involved dropping 52 of the bad boys. Our next adventure was another collection, and the mobs conned blue, and we cleared the whole zone again. Kinda liked the slaughter, cause I got almost 4 yellows of exp.
Anyone else noticed this? Or is it just me???

Our group has been doing adventures in MM since LDoN opened. Everything was going great, getting 10-13% exp at lvl 53 and usually finnishing with a few minutes to spare.

This past Tuesday however, all that changed. We have always had 4 key people me a 53 shad, 53 cleric, 54 wizzy, and a 53 necro. The last 2 slots have either been a chanty, paly, bard, or monk. This past tuesday we went into the same type adventures as always and noticed that the mob names were different. Didnt think much about it until the first fight started. They used to hit for 40-60 a swing, now hitting for 120-170 a swing and maxing at 240! They also seem to have 3x the hps as normal. Our wizzy hits them with the same spell that used to take them down 20% (800 pt ice commet i believe) now it only takes them down 7% while still doing 800 pts dmg.

Didnt think much about it at first.. thought its just this mob. WRONG! Next 4 were same way. Then got 3 adds (and yes we did pacy but they still aggroed) and the party got wiped! I have never been hit so hard for a DB.

So, we figured that adventure was bugged and we got another one... same thing... got pi$$ed off and camped out for the night. Came back on next day thinking everything would be back to normal. Guess what, same thing. So we tried going in unbuffed to get the adventure... same thing... tried switching out the monk for a 2nd cleric... same thing.. tried switching the 2nd cleric for a warrior.. same thing... I dont get it!?!?!

We have made sure the setting is on Normal and not hard .. things still hit for near 200 a swing and aggro even when pacyed... tried pulling with a bow and not spells... same thing... I can think of anything else to try. But 90 minutes to kill 50-60 mobs with 12-15K hps hitting for average 150 a swing .... our group of 53's cant do it... there is just too much med time.

Please advise if you all have any ideas or have ran across this before.. I am stumped!!!!

There are discrete "difficulties" of adventures. For example, one adventure our average level was 63.0 (65,64,64,63,61,61) and the mobs hit for low 200s and weren't very resistant. On another adventure the average was 63.5 (65,65,64,63,62,62) and the mobs hit for low 300s and were highly resistant.

My guess is that your average level edged over a "magic" cut-off and you went from being at the upper end of one difficulty range to the lower end of the next. My L54 SK has done one adventure with a group that averaged around 54-55. The mobs hit for around 170, and it sounds a lot like what you are describing.

The good news is that the points go up for harder adventures, and the drops are better.

I noticed soemothning strange last night, had a grp of 55-60, well balanced with 60 war, 59 cleric, 58 enchnater 59 ranger 56 wiz and 55 rogue. Things got real tough in 2nd room in and tank and enchanter died. We eventual made it four rooms in after rezes and enchanter bailed due to RL and we called it quits. I went to do the one chest we found in dungeon. I inspected it and trap went off, which never happened before, have inspectd dozens w/o that happening, have very good skills. Trap was posion 660 per tick which only effect the room I was in, but knuckle head ranger had followed me to watch me. I ran back to zoneline to cleric with ranger, but cleric decided to go afk 10 secs and we were dead by then.
Overall mobs and traps were much tougher, and I am used to grouping with lvl 60 and higher, so its not the lvl 60+ in group increase we all have noticed.
Someone has increased the toughest I belive, which is fine as long as they increased the experince and loot too, which I did notice any increase in.

I think you may have recorded your levels off by 1 somewhere. There are very specific 'difficulty steps' which occur. One of the steps happens when your average level reaches 58. You will notice significant difference between an adventure with group average of 57.9 and 58. You went from being king of the hills at 57.9 to low end at 58.

Thought it would be better to add this info in a reply, this might be the cause of the sudden increased toughness in the LDoN zones:

"This has been posted on the EQ Live site:

What Lost Treasures Will You Find?

Rediscover Lost Treasures of Norrath all this week! From now until Sunday, September 28, we will be dropping items that are no longer available in game. What lost treasures will you find? "

I thought about that and even asked a Guide about it. Guide said "as far as I know there have been no changes made to LDoN areas."

Key phrase might be ..as far as I know... but we all know that Sony would never dream about changing something and not let us/Guides/GM's know about it ... LMAO

Maybe this is just another way for them to have fun watching the corpses pile up outside the port.. hehe

This was a GM event run through several different zones throughout the week. New named dragons wandering through zones, and other various creatures. Loot included manastones, and other gear that verant/sony decided to remove.

And yes, I put the slash in there because some of the items were removed when Verant was still in charge.
