This zone is the revamped version that was released on July 10, 2003 during Legacy of Ykesha.

The Temple of Droga is found in the northwest corner of the Frontier Mountains. It is home to a large and diverse tribe of goblins, the Cleaving Tooth Clan. To hunt in this dungeon you must drop off a ledge, and commit to a rather long trek to get back out.

Veltar (An Iksar Slave) for the monk shackles now spawns in the mines in the SW corner of the zone. no cells to shrink through any more, but lots of Gobs to kill to get to him. Run in and the tunnel to the right has the slaves and 4-5 Gobs. Hope this helps my fellow monks out there.

All the old Droga quest mobs have been moved into those tunnels. Goblin Traitor, Angry Goblin, Chief RukGus, a maddened Burynai, a goblin interrogator, etc, etc.

Beware the Goblin Traitor if you're not on Chardok faction. He's level 40ish and tends to be a pain. There's 3 different "rooms" in the tunnel. The first has the Traitor, angry goblin. Second has RukGus, the burynai, interrogator. Third has the prisoners.

The biggest pain of these mobs, honestly, is the variety of their classes. If you're fighting in a fully popped area, expect all of them to be mage, shaman and cleric buffed. Meaning damage shields, haste, HP buffs, heals, dots, nukes, harmtouches, lifetaps, slows.

You ought to just get rid of the old MoBs from the list. The only MoB with the same name I think are the "a goblin whipcracker" but they are in the 50s now. Some of the old MoBs are in Frontier Mountains now.

This is a nice dungeon now.

Does anyone recall whether the various keys are nodrop? Just curious, since at level 51, and twinked up, I still get my **** handed to me by all the damn casters in this zone. Be easier to take my wizzy in and blow the green buggers up :P

The bone key and bone necklace are nodrop but the stone key is not.

Carefull taking your wizzy down there. they hit just hard enough to interrupt a LOT and still aggro at that lvl. Granted you can wipe the floor with a few of them once you get going, clearing you an area to deal that ae damage is needed.

Heh, not doubting it would be cake, but a wizzy friend of mine tends to die a lot when he tries stuff like that. and boy does he gripe then... lol.

I tried killing the stuff solo with my 54 monk, and as you say... can solo it but the casting and damage skins hurt after a kill or 2. not to mention the healers and running greenys.

I brought my friend who plays a rog and shm down and he helped me. Penkeeper outside of cells drdopped bone key and neck in 2 kills. I had the stone key from killing the penkeeper inside cell a few times solo.

Now have my tome. woot.

Well, I must admit I am seriously iritated at this and many other zones, (Kaesora, CoM to name a couple). The reason for my iritation is that I am curretnly 48 level SK, with reasonable equipment. I was helping a 43 monk frined of mine on a quest in here, and we have had our butts handed to us several times. It is very disconcerting that a mob better than 15 levels below me can defeat me, chain casting wraith and the like. Anyone have any suggestions other than twinking my toon out with Bazaar equipment.

I would have thought that mobs 15 to 20 levels lower than myself would be relatively easy...

I did the PoP quest and lost invs first time I whent there with a group, the wiz died then had to fight like 4-6 mobs all 1 by 1 as soon as one was almost dead "think I was lvl 46 at the time" all mobs wher light blue to me. then rezezed the wiz for 35%. Well the update removed all the lowbie mobs out I guess cause when I when there today all the mobs we ran in to (lvl 51 now) where red to mee I seen 1 bom that was dark blue!

Being my original role is Paladin I’d say the simplest solution to a chain caster (or any casting mob for that matter) is an Enchanter, Cleric, or Paladin. If you can’t find an enchanter to chain-stun, the Paladins serve a VERY good role vs. casters because of their varied lines of stuns (and the very low cast time). It saddens me to see many Paladins out there thinking their stuns are worthless.

When done properly you can basically render a caster mob useless. I used to solo casters simply because as soon as they began casting I cast my 1 second stun then a longer stun and so on. Also, make sure to have shield, and if one of your stuns are resisted then bash. Alternatively if stun isn’t available for a few seconds – again, bash.

And in a group were we had the enchanter busy with mezzing mobs I would be able to handle the tough casters – virtually no damage from the caster to the group when timed right. And unlike an enchanter the mob was usually beating on me anyway, so works out very well as a taunt.

Alternatively if you are really in a pinch and don’t have a stun capable class available you could bring a Druid along for their direct damage/stun line of spells. There are a few problems with this solution however:

  • Constantly casting these spells will take a fair amount of mana
  • Most of these spells are highly resisted unless a debuff class can malo
  • Because of the direct damage component of these spells it will most likely draw aggro to the Druid
  • These spells are really a direct damage with the bonus of a stun and may sometimes have a “kickback” component which is a big no-no in the dungeons

  • Bottom line: Droga casters can indeed be done – get yourself one of those useless Paladins and have him stun (and even cancel those blasted damage shields).

Oh yes, one more thing. Sorry, but I want to make this as comprehensive as possible in one post.

If you pulled a healer and a nuker and don’t have an enchanter, chances are you are concentrating on the nuker who can burn your tanks to a crisp. Simple solution - Paladin targets nuker calls out assist - builds aggro/chain stuns. Paladin changes for a few seconds to healer flashes/taunts and builds aggro. Changes back to nuker and once nuker gets to the point of the healer starting to cast, Paladin changes to healer and deals with him. Meanwhile the secondary tanks/rest of group finish off the nuker.

If you have a secondary tank just make sure he keeps aggro high enough that once Paladin pulls off the nuker and engages the healer the secondary will get aggro in a matter of hits. By this level tanks should know how to balance aggro between each other, so that shouldn’t be a problem (especially with a ShadowKnight).

If you find that aggro is too great on the Paladin then just have the Paladin root/park the healer some distance away. This way then the Paladin moves to the healer, the nuker should change over to the secondary tank. Alternatively, if you have nukers yourself, then just have them concentrate on the rooted healer and have the Paladin or secondary tank “distance” taunt (ShadowKnight is best for this).

This is just one of the many possibilities that are open to you. The above has been done and it works very well once the group learns each others’ taunt methods and strategies. In case you can’t tell - I love tanking! Smiley: grin

    Jail key drops

I've camped the jail area for several hours now so I think I have a pretty good idea of who drops what keys, so here it all is in one place:

goblin penmaster: bone key, bone necklace (necklace is a key)
goblin penkeeper: iron key, bronze key, copper key, stone key
    goblin interrogater: copper key

All of these NPCs always drop one key.

The penmaster spawns in the "outer" jail area, near a fire. He's got placeholders but isn't terribly uncommon. He seems to drop the bone necklace and the bone key about equally often.

The interrogater spawns in the inner jail area, in the cell with the broken down door. He doesn't have a placeholder so you'll see him a lot. He drops the copper key every time.

The penkeeper spawns in a cell that's joined to the interrogater's cell... it can be accessed by passing through a couple illusionary walls. Also, if you fall down the pit trap elsewhere in the zone, the penkeeper's cell is where you end up. It's the cell closet to the one where the iksar slaves spawn. The penkeeper has a lot of key drops, and his rarest seems to be the stone key (which is the one I'm still camping). He seems somewhat less common than the penmaster.

The bone necklace opens the outermost cell door that leads to the inner jail area.

The bone key opens the second door that leads to the inner jail area.

The bronze key opens the iksar slave cell door.

The stone key (I believe) opens the door to the cell with the "Always Works" machine that looks like a pottery wheel.

The other keys I haven't bothered to test.

If you're sufficiently shrunken, you can squeeze through the holes in the cell doors without a key. Also, rogues can lockpick the cell doors. However, if you plan on doing the Lord of Pain Khukri/Greenmist quest (and also I believe the monk shackle quest) you will need the bone key, bone necklace, and stone key to hand to Argest (one of the Iksar slaves in the jail).

Penkeeper also drops the steel key which unlocks the door to his cell. I would say the steel key is the next-most-common key drop after the copper key.

Nither the Penmaster or the Penkeeper in here drops keys needed for the Shackle of Steel.

You need two Keys. One is in Dalnir, that's off a Penkeeper, if I recall. The other on is off the interrogater, the gold key, here in Droga.

The Penkeeper and master do drop keys for the new Whistling Fists quests. You need three keys from them ( stone, bone, bone necklace ).
RE: Clearing up a couple things
    # Jan 03 2003 at 1:36 AM Rating: Default
The bone key, bone necklace, and the Stone key are all needed to get the stupendous tome, along with the scolls. The tome IS needed for the Whistling Fists later on. So, yeah if you are a monk and are working on the Whistling fists, you too need the three keys.

    Quick ammendom:

Penkeeper drops all the others. I've gotten the Bronze, Iron and Steel keys before I finally got the Stone key. He might drop others, not sure.
    Drogan Warlord's insignia?

Got this drogna warlord's insignia off a goblin. Can't remember which one. It is a no drop item and looks like a quest piece. Anyone knows what it is for?
    RE: Drogan Warlord's insignia?
    # Feb 24 2002 at 4:54 PM Rating: Default
The Warlord's Insignia is for the 2nd quest.

The first ring requires you to merely hail Herald Telcha at the enterence in Chardok, and say the words "I serve the sarnak", and you then recieve the first ring, assuming your faction is at least a very high warmly.

    The first ring is 2ac 1int 1wis 1charisma 65hps 40mana.

The 2nd ring is what needs the Insignia, as well as a couple other quest items, one from a goblin in swamp of no hope, and the head of the goblin warlord himself, who's roughly a level 57 SK.
