nightfire drake
# Jan 29 2002 at 10:46 AM Rating: Excellent
that nightfire took 30 minutes for a 51 sk(Mantua Dashwind) and my 55 mage to kill, only dropped the scroll of night which i have no idea what its for. anyone know? the mob cant be slowed, snared or feared. was a fun fight. went through at least 10 pets to kill the SOB while the sk ran it around in circles with the pets backstabbing and bashing from behind

He CAN be Slowed - I landed a Turgur's Insects on him rather easily (Only way I survived my first encounter with him when I found out he can't be rooted.)

His movement can't be slowed or altered though... Root, Snare, or Fear didn't land (according to my Necro buddy).

The duece you say!

i pulled this guy to our group the other day.. he was blue, and pretty.. therefore needed to die. I pulled him with a tash, which was THE only thing i could land on him. Tried slow and fear repeatedly, no avail.

Now, we need to find out what the scroll is for.

I saw the blue "a nightfire drake" in SF also, tried to cast dooming darkness on it, only to find it was immune to movement adjust spells. So I just kited it (jboots outran it)by running a big figure-8, while my spectre worked on it and Defluxing it every chance I got. Never summoned me and was aggro on me the entire time. Fight took maybe 5-10mins, but in the end it died. Lots of HP, conned blue at 60, dropped scroll of night.

FYI...

Seen him a few times (Looks like a colbalt drake, really stands out in Skyfire when compared to the other drakes). I (58 shaman)teamed up with a necro to kill him a few times. Necro pulled aggro and ran him in circles around me while we used our pets and my JBB to wear him down. Has quite a bit of HP - I'd say in the area of 12-15k HP. His movement can't be altered. Root, Snare, Fear all were resisted multiple times, even when his resistances were debuffed. Seems specifically designed to irritate kiters. Always dropped the same scroll and nothing else.

He has a HUGE aggro range but, but loses interest once you get out it, very similar to the "Bottomless __". Once he's aggro'd though, he'll run at full speed randomly around the zone causing all kinds of havoc. Warning to all who don't have SoW or J-Boots - if he finds you, you'll have to kill him, or make it to the zone line, or gate out - you won't be able to get away from him as you can't root him. Not sure if he can keep up with level 3 innate running, but he seemed to move pretty fast.

This guy is also immune to FEAR!
RE: another named

Was level 52. Is also immune to spells that alter running speed, drops scroll of night or something to that effect
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 24 2002 at 8:42 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yep. I hazard a guess that is related to the Beast Lord Epic quest.
Book of Immortals
# Jan 20 2002 at 4:53 PM Rating: Good
Today I was looking for the Book of Immortals for my monkey. My friend (lvl 60 SK) and me (lvl 52 RNG) sat near the BW zone and I was pulling named.

1.) Faerie of Dismay - nothing
2.) Black Scar - nothing
3.) Guardian of Felia - nothing
4.) Black Scar - Book :)

so, book seems to be uncommon. We had no problems killing those epiced and ToV gear.. fear kited/meleed.
Summoning
# Dec 11 2001 at 11:10 AM Rating: Default
I am probably the one person spending more time in this zone than anyone else. I have never been summoned by anyone except for these mobs that summon: Ancient Wyvern, Eldrig the Old Guardian wurm. Only these 3 mobs have summoned me and i found that out the hard way, as for ALL the other mobs in the zone (excluding Talendor and Jannus Lykobar) none of them summon or see invis.

# Jan 23 2002 at 8:58 AM Rating: Default
I'd say its possible, but you'll probably have to 55+ to get full dmg from ur nukes.
Like it says above, the problem is finding the mobs without being agroed by others.
RE: Quading
# Dec 17 2001 at 6:23 PM Rating: Decent
I doubt they are quadable too many hp, but the major problem would be finding 4 then grouping them together w/o any aggro. I being a 54 druid didn't have mana enough to do it(I just tried 2 to see) I am not stacked with mana items either but it wasnt real close.

SkyFire Soloing as Necro
# Oct 03 2001 at 9:45 AM Rating: Decent
25 posts
If you are a necro wanting a safe place to solo and get max experience for your time spent, I recommend Burning Woods over SkyFire, at least until level 56. At level 56, anyplace soloing is not as good experience as a tight dungeon group. And up to level 56, a tight dungeon group is better experience.

In Burning Woods you want to focus on the moldering/tatterback gorillas (not apes), ancient giants, sarnak zealots, scoriae hornets, wurms, and any blue skeletons. These all drop spells.

At level 56 I soloed everything except the red stuff...including the level 52 varieties of stuff. At level 51 I was soloing the lower level stuff in SkyFire, but did not move there until 54. I went back to burning woods to PL some peeps there and found that I made more experience in BW per hour than in SkyFire.

# Aug 28 2001 at 10:23 AM Rating: Decent
'a wandering wurm' is NOT an Animal.

It is just a Monster.

On a good note he also seems to drop a 55+ spell 1 time in 6.

Everyone makes a big deal outta these. so i just wanted to brag more skills of a necro. was wondering around here looking for splurt , since i just got level 51. was told by everyone i know to avoid me, they summon, yatta yatta. It attacks me. i send pet, cascading it, fear it. it hugs the outside wall thank god. then i just stack asytole (best fergin melee spell there is, to all you necros who dont believe in it) EB, and BoD on it. cast lich, sit a sec. restack fear, then cascading. keep it feared. fight lasted about 5 minutes. was hit maybe twice. dropped form of the howler. pet was at 100% hp. i went home happy. all in all. not too tough, low mr. just gotta not let it do anything. prolly around 17kish hp.

I have seen him 3 times today and he was always blue to my 48 chanter. Also a very easy kill.

I have been working on the Foraged Crystal question
# Mar 29 2001 at 9:41 AM Rating: Default
I have been working on finding if and what quest the crystals I have foraged up in Skyfire are for.
I have noticed that the dragon statues in the zone also hold globes representing the same thing the foraged globes do.

I have tried to click the globes that are foraged on the globes the dragons are holding and all over the dragons but no luck. I am not sure if they are related to each other in some form but I am still working on it.

I have noticed if you click on the globe the dragons are holding without anything in hand the spinning globe stops for a moment.

Hmm maybe you have to have someone at each globe clicking on it with a globe in hand will trigger something or maybe they have nothing to do with each other.

The foraged items are magic, lore and no drop.

Anyone have any clues or suggestions?

And is it only druids that can forage them?

Can other races forage them up like Iskars?

This information would be helpful in trying to determine what kind of quest it is if it is quest related.

51 is fine
# May 13 2001 at 1:44 PM Rating: Default
I play as half of a 51 Mage/Necro combo so I have Maloise, but a 51 Nec could solo easy here. The Devourers and such have about the same HP as the Sea Furies but are at least 5 levels higher. Most of the Wurms only have maybe 4-5K, and the Chromadracs probably only have 3-3.5K. I didn't like OOT because with Fear Kiting the pathing there isn't all that great. If you hit SF from OT, hang a left. I don't think anything here under L60 sees invis either, I've never been attacked by anything other then an Ancient Wyvern. Loot is a little better in OOT though.

In any case you'll go past some kind of TP point with a globe, just stay on the wall. You'll come to a spot where you can sit on the hill, and there's a ridge in front of you. There will also be a Lava river to your left. Park the pet there and pull away. 90% of the times in any zone feared MOB's go around hills, not over them. So you pull it back to your pet, dark/Fear/EB/Splurt and it will just run along the base of the hill where no roamers spawn. The only time I got multiples was when I was out pulling, never got one from fearing.

I'd say 51 is the best minimum level, mostly because of Splurt/EB. Everything else we have takes too long, and most stuff here is very FR.
RE: 51 is fine
# Jun 06 2001 at 3:50 AM Rating: Default
Correction, Chromadrakes dont have 3-5k hp but 7700.

At last the one i soloed last night. They dont do aoe-dispel if you kite them.
RE: soloable?
# Feb 14 2001 at 2:14 PM Rating: Default
If you want to solo at your level you will have much more success in OOT soloing Seafuries. They have a lot less hps and the money is much better. If you want spells you can feel free to solo here at your level now. Any necros who want strategies for soloing here or in OOT with Seafuries feel free to email me at ematis@epoch.net I will gladly send you what I know.

Yesterday while running around lookin for my corpse I found a box on the ground.. Being a curious Gnome I clicked it and it moved with the sound of a door opening. Any clue what it is for? I have the loc at home , at work right now and didnt think about bringing it ;p

RE: another named
# Jul 23 2001 at 11:51 PM Rating: Default
Killed one of these today. Dropped cleric spells Fortitude and Reckoning. Not sure if these spells are common or rare. I'm a necro so I don't need them and gave them to a cleric in the zone. A friend of mine also killed soul devourer the other day and got some other spell, not sure what though.
RE: another named
# Aug 28 2001 at 10:18 AM Rating: Decent
I also killed 'a soul devourer' many times, last time I killed him he dropped Pillar of Lightning and Blizzard (which I needed).

Course I then mem Blizzard and use it on a drake...and find it resisted all 3 waves. They are still treating this as fire based for resists and not cold. This needs to be fixed.
Shadowdrake
# Dec 25 2000 at 9:36 AM Rating: Default
missing a mob called a shadow drake...this one actually drops spells on rare occasions along with immortals
RE: Shadowdrake
# Aug 28 2001 at 10:21 AM Rating: Decent
You need to be careful with 'a shadow drake' because they CAN go up to level 51, and thus Summon you.

On a good note he drops a 55+ spell about 1 time in 5.
