Rile Sathir ordered the construction of this tower during his rule of the Sebilisian Empire. It is named after the warlord Kurn Machta, and was used by Rile's son, Atrebe Sathir, to breed the Sarnaks. Ghosts can still be found haunting the tower.

After fighting some more in there, I think that any of the mobs can become "an unmasked changleing" I've had a greater skeleton do it, a lesser icebone skeleton, and a Burynai Excavator.

Hollow Bone Quest Solved
# Aug 09 2006 at 4:02 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, after reading a great deal about it, I believe I have the quest solved so listen up adventurers!

We all know about the Skeletal Cook and how he gives you the Skull of Tortue in return for a glowing skull.

LORE ITEM
Weight: 0.0 Size: TINY
Slot: NECK
AC: +2 Int: +5 HP: +10 Mana: +10 End: +10
Classes: All Classes
Races: Iksar Ogre Troll Gnome Dark Elf Barbarian Erudite Half Elf Human

Not a bad item, but hey! there's more.

We all know the cook also drops a Hollow Skull which leads us to believe there is another item known as the Glowing Bone Helm. Don't try to find it because Allakhazam's doesn't list it why? who knows.

Here is what you need to do. Some of you might already know some of this but there are a few peices I have seen that others have put together.

1. Get the Hollow Skull which drops off of the Skeletal Cook AND also drops from An Undead Jester.

2. Seek out the Burnyai Forager who runs around in the Basement. He has three items you will need:

A dried Tongue
A Dusty Sealed Canopic x 2. (Yes there are two they are Lore so you will know you have both when you can carry both of them).

3. Take both of the Canopics to the Overthere Outpost and seek out Galdon Vok Nir who can be found at loc p3150,p2040 and ask him "What about the dusty sealed canopic jars?" He will take your Jar open it and return to you "A Preserved Eye." You will need to do this twice to get 2 eyes.

4. Now then what might you ask is the fourth item to combine? Well what you need is "A Glowing Mask" which from what I gather is a rare drop from the Skeletal Cook.

If you combine all of those items in the hollow skull you will get the following item:

A Glowing Bone Helm:

AC18, WIS/INT +7, MR +10.

It is interesting to note that there is a drop in Kurn's known as "A Preserved Eye (Left Eye of Torture)" that drop from A Burnyai Flesh Reaper and "A Preserved Eye (Right Eye of Torture)" that drops from Crackling Bones. I believe these are used for the Skull of Torture Quest and NOT for the Glowing Bone Helm. It might be interesting to see if these do in fact work instead of going to OT with the jars.

I hope this helps everyone out. I definately intend to seek out this prized item.

The undead tower guard is NOT level 20. He is dark blue to me at 19. He is probably 17-18. I was actually killing him when he was still yellow.

me and a couple friends have started new characters on a new server and i decided to be a necro. which is new to me since all i've ever really played is a paladin. (aronnov 60 karana) went to kurns and wow.. just wow. the mob pathing is nice. No adds. You can pull one and not worry about aggro. Makes it real easy. Only level 10 but I can't help but think that the mobs are underconned. Taking red skells out without a prob. untwinked necro too. either way i get more exp from a yellow then a red. not sure if this is because SOE nerfed or what. all necros should come here though. unlmited bonechips and exp. just my 2cp.

PC to 10, here to 17, PC to 25, the rest you can find on your own ;). anyway, this place is good for most of the teens, my druid is getting 5% solo here at level 13. watch out for the bears, some HT.

Actually, once you hit about level 5 or 6 (depending on whether you hunt with a friend) you can head into Paludal.

You can start by killing beetles near the entrance, graduate to shrooms, then fiends.

Come from Shadeweaver's Thicket, take the tunnel surrounded by lesser shades/skeletal hunters. Take your first left, then 2 rights.

Ive found a skele that spawns in the cooks spot and drops a preserverd eye, called crackling bones... has anyone seen him before?
Looks pretty easy to me..
# Sep 24 2003 at 3:03 PM Rating: Decent
Wandered in with my 18th level Necro and had a cake walk of the upper floors. Looks like a great hunting ground for lower level characters though. Kill a few things, hide and rest in the secret room, rinse, repeat...

Did find some better upper level hunting right outside the tower. Plus it is a nice quick zone into the tower if I ***** up and slap something I shouldn't.

Up is easier in Kurns. Down is harder. Go down one level and you will find a mix of skellies and furbies, mostly around level 15. That the furbies are social can make this level challenging at level 18.

Drop down another level into the tunnels, and most of the mobs will be yellow to red at 18. I'm not sure the tunnels are any harder than the basement: the mobs are a little higher level, but there are fewer wanderers and, except for a static spawn or two, it isn't too hard to find singles to kill. Be aware that the tunnels are one-way. Once you drop down (blindly, taking some damage), you'll have to fight your way to the zone out or gate to leave.
New Skellies
# Sep 16 2003 at 12:22 AM Rating: Default
On top of Cackling bones, I noticed that there's An Undead Tower Guard. it Drops a Dried Tongue (maybe they're getting rid of Burynai Forager???) It's obviously bugged... as it's an undead creature, yet when I con it with invis Vs. Undead, I get "scowls at you, ready to attack". Its Placeholder has been anything from thick boned, to Burynai Sapper/excavator/Excavator/burrower, to lesser icebone. don't have a /loc, but it's in a room on entry level, to the right on the right set of stairs up.

I also noticed Skellie cook spawns up in dining room. I'm determined to help find out the mysteries of Kurn's Tower, I'll keep ppl posted
