Also known as the five towers of Teraaz, not much is known about the history of Kaesora.

Located beneath the Field of Bone, Kaesora was built during the rule of Rile Sathir and used as a citadel by Vampire Lord Chosooth. At some point in time, the inhabitants encountered a force strong enough to destroy them. Kaesora now lies mostly in ruins, haunted by those who fell in its confines.

new mob
# Sep 20 2000 at 2:33 AM Rating: Decent
There is a new mob since the last patch called a frenzied gnawer. Haven't seen him before in Kaesora and I know this zone very well. It drops a Frenzied Gnawer Tail, 6/25 AC 2 PR 5 wt 3 NO DROP. Saw him down by the Runelord room twice within 20 minutes, both times he dropped this weapon. Wasn't there long, but I have camped the Runelord for over 14 hours straight pulling all the mobs around and have never seen this one before. Was green to a 46.

There seems to be way to many confused posts so I redid mine to include what I missed or messed the first time,
Random Drops: Truesliver(All), spinepeircer(undead), tombcarver(?), dusty ransackers pack(undead), ravener tail whip(raveners), straithbone shell shield
(UR on straithbones), shield of spectral essence(specs)?, anti-venom(spiders),
Frenzied Straithbone: Mask of 8 eyes, Cryptrobbers knife-rare
Reaver of xalgoz: Rod of battle-2hb, Deathwatch blade-2hs
Hungered ravener: Icy blade, ...unknown rare
Failed crypt raider: Spear of mortification, Kylong hunting knife-rare
Spectral libro: Spectral shroud...
Tortured libro: Kunzar mantle...spirit tome and sages battle staff rare on both libros
Runelord: Fiery lamentation blade, dagger of frost-rare
Xalgoz: Xalgozian Fang, Xalgoz blade

Note: truesliver can drop in place of a common drop on the names if u are looking for it you may as well camp something. Also the drop rate was nerfed in june its very diffucult to get any rare now and some commons are now uncommon, i.e. spear of mort...
Spawn Rate 20 minutes
Please update any wrong info, and it better be right damnit)

The list is missing the Failed Crypt Robber who spawns near the library and has a shaman piercer with a stun effect and some quest items.

one of the quest items it drops is an ancient coin needed for the bard quest for nostrolo's tamborine, seems to be one of the more difficult coins to get

Where is the Icy blade?

I heard this weap called an icy blade drops here, sounds pretty good 6 21 shock of ice. if anyone knows what drops this that would be great thanks
The Icy Blade Is:
# Sep 13 2000 at 3:13 PM Rating: Excellent
It is to the far right corner of the Library in an abandoned house. The Engorged Ravaner has the blade and is guarded by 4 warder/minion MOBS. The weapon is semi common, but is RANGER only.Best way to hunt it is come in the Library tunnel to the one MOB on right wall.Clear the wall for camp.Have puller snag all MOBS 4 at a time from right of here in front of Library.Watch for warders healing from the Library steps.Pull until clear to the house and camp for a big fight.Good Luck...

also due to risk/reward.

My 51 druid went with some other people 35 -42 or so. Four of us got wiped when we cleared our way to the library and got front spawn that aggroed back on us when they Librarian and some other stuff spawned.

It took an hour and a half for my druid to coordinate getting a cleric from our guild (then he only was high enough to use the 39 res = /) ported to dreadlands then succored from karnor to emerald jungle then around and up stairs to field of bone.

If you go, you should really be high enough level that most stuff will be green at least up to librarian. Have at least one 49 cleric, maybe more. Bind just outside, almost zoning in (you want to be near the zone in in case that Targashin skell guy which could beat on you pretty good naked is around) I've never been farther from the library but would like to try with a couple good groups. People do sell that book from the librarian a lot that is 6 wis or something, either hand.

Heh, that is a bit exagerated. This dungeon is not out of the way at all, run from FV to FoB thru the swamp and you are right at Kaesora, making it about a 10 min run from FV.

Me (lvl 44 Pally), a lvl 43 enchanter, and lvl 40 druid frequently do the whole dungeon. We have been doing it since about lvl 38-40 and have only ever had one death I believe. A very good dungeon to "do" with a small group. Great loot here and the exp boggles the mind, you can literally go thru an entire level in one night if you know how to play (which most ppl don't).
RE: Undercamped due to Location, very out of the way
# Jan 05 2001 at 7:56 PM Rating: Default
I agree, but you hit the key. Enchanter. My friends and I have been camping the bard coin (still doing it) and we don't die. Most pulls are going to get you 2 or 3 mobs if you go at it from the right direction. With and enchanter it's easy to pick them off one at a time.

We've been going with a warrior, bard, and druid in the mid-upper 30's and an enchanter who's in the low 40's. A bubble an hour is not uncommon, we even do better depending on what spawns. The big nasty guardians are great XP. We do nothing more than camp and hold the library area. Taking all the spawns around it.

One hint on this place is how you approach it. We take the drop down the long pit (400+ dmg) and work our way to the back of the library going past the reaver room(we'd need a full group to hold that too but i think we could manage it). This direction is easy to break and you never get more than 3 mobs if you're careful. Very easy to clear. We tried to get to the front of the library, through the spiders, and found it impossbile. The dungeon was designed to have a "back door" i guess. Much easier that way. Heh, we found it by accident. I (the warrior) fell down the damned thing and my stupid friends followed me.

Lythgar
Wild Hunt

The Rathe

btw, can someone (who's witnessed it) tell me if the failed raider spawns IN the library, or outside of it? We've been there for atleast 15 hours total and it's never popped. I've heard of horribly long placeholder spawns and also conflicting reports on where he actually spawns. Any help would be appreciated.
RE: Undercamped due to Location, very out of the way
# Jan 28 2001 at 5:24 PM Rating: Default
The failed crypt raider spawns in the place of the librarian. We've seen him spawn once in about 15 or so spawns. This place is great XP for 33+ especially after the latest patch which gives you 20% full group XP bonus AND 20% Kaesora bonus. (thats 40% better XP folks) We easily made 1 bub per hour XP by just camping the library front and backyards. Also this dungeoun is very very easy if you study the maps and know the way out.

Warder of Xalgoz is not listed. Found him on the way down to the church to camp Xalgoz. He dropped a SK only piercing weapon. I assume he is a level or 2 above the skeletal warders. The failed cryptrobber spawns in the upstairs of the library. He often carries a FS morning star instead of other drops (still drops the coin/scrolls).
Be careful when fighting at the library, if you try to walk outside of the library to the other side, about 5-6 mobs will aggro you through the walls.
Also the spear of mortification has the effect of stun as well.
I have never seen anything special spawn in the path the leads away from the library as it dead ends. There is a building there, but i've never seen anything else but the common things.
Also, found off spectral guardians was a tombcarver 5/17 rog only piercer.. +3dex +3agi. I've killed many many of these and have only found one, so must be pretty rare on loot table.

I agree with the above reply. This zone is amazing. You can chain pull all night long for experience, and easily hold the library reaver area. A good group of 35-40 can reach a state of Nirvana in here. It is better than OT in regard to the amount of experience in here, and rivals guk in the amount of loot which can be obtained. I wish more peeps would come to this dungeon, as it is difficult to find a group. I always convinve peeps to come with me and bring my group.

Well its not. Unfortunately spawn times and locations are just so darn inconvenient that you pretty much have to have a group of level 40s to get anything done here. Bristleweb spiders, all types of raveners, and a lot of undead areas make this zone nearly impossible to solo in. Exception of maybe a couple rooms, and requiring a level 44+ to clear the intended room and hold it. After that its like city of the mist; to get anything good you have to kill about 2000 of one type of monster. IE if you want a strathbone shell shield expect to camp the frenzy / healer area for a week, real life. Frenzied and runelord have about a 1 / 100 chance of dropping the shield, and only other strathbone spiders even have a sliver of a chance of dropping it. Bristleweb and briarweb spiders will not drop the shield. So lets say you did nothing but kill frenzied and runelord for a week straight, you still might not even get a shield.

This, and the fact that there are healer mobs every, makes it a group only type dungeon. Plus the spawn time is 15 minutes here. Cant really go in to a camp spot invis and kill the named mob or placeholder because of all the mobs that see thru invisibility. Maybe a necro or sk could do it, but too darn inconvenient for any other people.

Until they do something with this dungeon, it will pretty much be just an inconvenient place to get part of the key for the howling stones quest. I've camped frenzied strathbone area for 4 days and havent seen a shield. In all that time I've only even seen the frenzied strathbone about 15 times. Two of the times it dropped a piece of truesilver, but every other time it was same ol lousy mask of the eight eyes.

My advice is just stay away from this dungeon till they vamp it somehow, or make it more appealing in some way. As it is, this is a lousy dungeon.
RE: UNDERCAMPED
# Aug 28 2000 at 11:46 PM Rating: Default
ROFL, this is the best dungeon in Norrath!! Why in the name of all that is holy would anyone want to solo in a dungeon anyway is far beyond me. We have been doing this dungeon since about lvl 38, a group of good players in this dungeon will have a ball, rake in the loot like crazy, and get about a level every night or 2. It's also a one way dungeon so you don't have trains. There is more than one way to get to almost anywhere so a little know how can let you get anywhere in the dungeon with invis/ITU. Nothing sees invis except undead and the frenzied strathbone, and the undead and live stuff don't mix so it is an easy place to move around in if you know what you are doing.

Thanks for the laugh Mandicus!
Spear of Mortification
# Aug 15 2000 at 2:50 PM Rating: Decent
That spear is NOT a ranger weapon. The Spear of Mortification is a 6/22 shaman only spear.

There are two ranger weapons in here. THe first is the Icy Blade 6/22, effect Shock of Ice, and it can drop from the Hungered Ravener in the burned out house.

The second is the Kylong Hunting Knife. The knife drops from the Failed Crypt Raider but so does the Spear on Mortification. Both seem to be pretty rare drops.

Where can I find the Failed Crypt Raider? I've been told the library, but I went near there and couldn't get anything on track. I really need the coin he drops to finish the quest, as its the last one I need. If you're on Bristlebane and have the coin from here, please give me a tell, I'm on most days. I'll pay upwards of 100pp for it, I'm that frustrated.
RE: Failed Raider
# Oct 14 2000 at 2:02 AM Rating: Default
Honestly I wouldn't go out of my way for 100pp. But anyway, the Failed Crypt Raider spawns outside the library on the left side facing towards the library. He was a skeleton and I guess he's pretty much a rare spawn. I think he drops a tomb carver (7/19 rogue only) and something else, yeah that coin thingy. We didn't know that it did so destroyed it, oh and I think it is no drop. GL
