Located in the southeastern corner of Kunark, a massive cliff separates the jungle from the West. The jungle's beautiful sight masks great dangers lurking in the forest.

Wandering gorillas, tigers, raptors, and man-eating plants are threats to those who adventure here. The dragon Severilous, aligned with Kunark's Ring of Scale, roams the northwest and is left alone by the jungle's inhabitants. In the northeast is a small lake, to the north of which are a group of Iksar bandits.

Further to the south is Torsis, also known as the City of Mist, deep within the jungle's twisted thicket.

Any Info on Tainted/Corrupt Gorilla ?
# Apr 06 2001 at 12:51 AM Rating: Default
Anyone have any info on what the Tainted/Corrupt gorilla has as place holders ? I spent an hour killing gorillas last night and never got the tainted to spawn. I know he is supposed to be up on the plateau thing, but I am getting very frustrated >=/ anyone got any info ?
RE: Any Info on Tainted/Corrupt Gorilla ?

There are 3 tottering gorillas up in the north area of the Plateau.

They respawn FAST. Best bet is to be a 49th druid, track all three and snare them. Use Lightning blast to tri-kite them to death. Repeat.

Eventually one (or more) will spawn 'tainted gorilla'. Go peek at it. If it is Undead (all nasty looking), it is NOT the right one for the Druid epic. Kill it anyway, to clear it out.

If, however, it looks alive (like the raging gorillas), BINGO, that is your money creature. Make sure you snare it alone and take it to a wall. Root it. Begin dotting it and medding. You will need it, because the corrupted gorilla is always blue to a 60 Druid (45+), and he can be tough. Take it easy, take your time, because once you waste this Corrupted monkey, you are done with EJ for your Epic.

Good luck.

Spirit Sentinal

A dog/wolf in a old ruin. What is he or is his drop?
RE: Spirit Sentinal
# Mar 26 2001 at 1:33 PM Rating: Excellent
This Sentinel is for the Shaman Epic. He does not drop anything. For shaman, items are turned into hium to receive Black Fur Boots (SoW boots). Killing him will not give these to you as they are ONLY received via the shaman epic quest.

He will likely be indiff to all and green so pls do not kill him if you see him...

Peace

emerald jungle vs overthere
# Dec 04 2000 at 6:23 PM Rating: Default
I have never been to emerald jungle but have a question for someone out there that is familiar with it. In the overthere most peeps know that if they get a good group you can really rock as far as experience until you get a lil above 40. My question is the emerald jungle comparable to the overthere otherthan the slight increase in monster level?? Can you get exp in the emerald jungle for lets say 4 or 5 levels higher than you can in the overthere??
RE: emerald jungle vs overthere
# Mar 19 2001 at 2:23 PM Rating: Decent
The Emerald Jungle is better than the Overthere once you reach your high 30s / low 40s. The reason being that the mobs in the Emerald Jungle tend to be higher level on average than those you would encounter in the Overthere. For example, once I hit 40, not many wandering mobs would con high than blue to me, while in the Emerald Jungle it was more common to encounter mobs of even or higher strength than myself. The reason more people tend to go to the Overthere is because its easier to find others to group with in this zone, as opposed to the Emerald Jungle which is usually devoid of people. However, now that people can bind around the Kaesora area at the Field of Bone (an area which is a stone's throw from the zone to the Emerald Jungle), hopefully more people will start exploring this under-utilized zone.

I have to agree. Also you can fight right at the TT zone line and pull at a fairly decent rate. Nice place for exp but the loot in non-existant.
Do all MOBs here run at SoW speed?
# Oct 20 2000 at 1:32 PM Rating: Default
Having spend countless hours camping damn jboots
to no avail, I hate zones with all sowed mobs,
ala traks teeth. Is this the same?
RE: Do all MOBs here run at SoW speed?
# Jan 25 2001 at 1:56 PM Rating: Default
I have not encountered one mob in this zone that runs at SoW speed. Not even the Iksar and I think they are shaman, at least the one I ran from seemed to be casting shaman type spells.

I have been hunting here the past couple of nights with some friends. The exp is great, our party ranges from 40-47th. A lot of the mobs do run at sow speed. The Tigers and the Trakoraptors easily keep up with me when I pull. The skeletons, soulsippers, and apes do not have sow though. Hope this helps.
Tainted Gorilla ?
# Sep 20 2000 at 6:06 PM Rating: Default
I wanted to see Severilous (he wasnt up...) and my 2 friends 50+ and I were attacked by "tainted gorilla". Blue to them at 53.

When he died immediately spawned a "corrupted gorilla" which was white to me at 46 .... and ready to attack. Fortunately, this one didnt jump us... and we didnt have time nor lust to engage that one ... I couldnt loot the tainted gorilla's corpse cause the other was right on it.

To be continued ...

From what I have read all the 'Tainted' creatures are for the Druid and Ranger Epic Quests.

The 'Tainted' creature will spawn first then a 'Corrupted' creature will spawn right after.

It is actually the 'Corrupted' creatures and their drop that is needed for the Quests.

Information on these Quests can be found at this link:

Ok, I had the same thing -- tainted attacked me -- tainted hit for 105 -- was about 44th -- upon death corrupted aggroed on me.. Ran.. Glad to hear it is not over 50th.

All tainted mobs are for epic quest. There is also a tainted HG in Rathe MTS that spawns a corrupted HG. The corrupted versions drop items for some epic quests. GL

The tainted ape con'd white to my 40th lvl toon. Slowed and doted it ok but the coruppted was red to a lvl 43 player but ive read he is lvl 46 so the red con would support a previous posts. Tainted was dropped fairly easy by us, a lvl 43 warrior, 40 shaman and 38 cleric. But the corrupted was'nt so easy ended up havin to zone. Corrupted stayed up for roughly 20-25 minutes then despawned.
Iksar Tomb Raiders

found a wandering mob called an iksar tomb raider......blue to a 40 but double attacks for 70 - 80 range and took me down to 40 hp before I fled for my life and this was after I mana dumped 700 points of DD careless lightning on it...I am a ranger btw....sucker is tough

Totem Fiendling
# Jul 12 2000 at 8:52 AM Rating: Decent
Ok it killed me the first time due to a lag spike but I got it the 2nd time.
Here is the info
3700hp, Shaman undead Ape, Cast Spirit of frost and hits very hard. Pet is not always with it. it does a big loop off the cliff in the south west corner to the north west corner to the north east corner then Teleports to around the upper ledge near the staircase.

Droped a small bad and 10gp 9sp...but good xp...but took most of my mana to kill and resisted some of the spells
Totem Fiendling?

I've ran into a 'totem fiendling's pet' twice now, it's a shaman-type pet, but I've yet to see the totem fiendling itself. Anyone have any information on it?
Rares in EJ
# Jun 29 2000 at 10:35 AM Rating: Decent
I have spent a week in here hunting and have only seen three rare spawns: Erosili Thornslinger, Engorged Soulsipper and Emerald Tiger. Each of these mobs was unitemized (6-24-00). The loot for this zone is very poor , a lot of the mobs esp. the dinosaurs dont even have coin! BW or Skyfire zone is much better loot-wise for level 48+ players.
Boring Kunark Zone
# May 29 2000 at 9:18 AM Rating: Decent
This is possibly the least exciting Kunark zone I've visited. Lvl 43 shaman, lvl 41 enchanter, lvl 38 tank, lvl 34 wizzie, lvl 41 druid and lvl 34 shaman had no problems killing whatever came our way. There are some good camp spots where you can set up and critters will walk into camp non-stop. No pulling required. Loot is horrible. Spent about 4 hours in this zone piling up on the silver. Great for exp. but you would do better in Dreadlands where the loot and experience both flow rather nicely. I even think Tranaknon's teeth is similar to this Jungle but better. On the positive side, we did have the zone all to ourselves.
Dead Monkeys
# May 24 2000 at 9:34 PM Rating: Decent
Tatterbacks and tottering and moldering are all dead monkeys, they see reg invisi and clerics & necro's can nuke em. The raging is live though.
Warping
# May 21 2000 at 9:51 AM Rating: Decent
As a Necro fear/kiting in this zone I've had a lot of trouble with the mobs "warping". All those big trees don't help either. ROK needs a LOT of work on it's pathing, until then stay safe and be careful.
Dangerous
# May 18 2000 at 12:48 PM Rating: Decent
A party of mid 30s should never try this zone. 40s may do ok, what i found though is that another mob will constantly join the fight. If your not pulling to a safe spot, you can get in trouble very, very fast. One minute your fighting an ape, and 30 seconds later a few more mobs are in there. Loot blows exp is ok, mobs have a ton of hps
RE: Dangerous

Hunting party...
# May 17 2000 at 5:15 AM Rating: Decent
I "lvl 40 warrior and 2 clerics lvl 52 and 46 went in for some easy killing. We attacked the first raptar we saw...then a gorilla attacked us..we killed the raptar and started on the gorila...a leech came out of no where....we killed the gorila attacked the leech...thank god for lvl 52 spells. By this time we were allmost dead and almost OOM. The lvl 52 cast some spell that makes the mob forget everything and walk off happy. After getting hp and mana up we went over to the stairs. Some undead ape started atting us through the stairs from the ground, the lvl 52 went LD me and the 46 cleric fought to save him cuase he was LD. we ended up getting slaughtered by the undead gorilla and a raptar that walked up the stairs. lukely the lvl 52 cleric came back and ressed us. That is when our trip ended.,

Great Zone
# May 15 2000 at 10:23 AM Rating: Decent
I've hunted in this zone for a while now... got through 48 and almost through 49 in here... a druid soloing.

You can charm the dinos, the raging tigers and the leeches, but I wouldnt suggest it. Best method is to place your bind at the entrance to CoM and just go walking. See something, Root, DOT and med.

Loot blows though... I got 1 arrow and 1 small box in almost 2 levels of hunting and I've never seen a rare.

There are some Iskar that can cast root on you... the casters also gate when they get low on health... not worth the effort if you ask me.

If you get mobbed, simply gate, med and get back out there. When I gate, I am usually a ways away from CoM and the aggro is generally cleared up, so when I gate I dont even bother to zone... med up and continue the slaughter.

What see's invis and what does not
# May 13 2000 at 3:18 PM Rating: Decent
I've noticed on my trip through Emeral J that when invis every single mob I con'ed showed it was ready to attack. Signaling to me that they could see through my invis. That I found out is not true. I walked up to the Frenzied series of mobs and they pass me by as well as all the mosquito mobs and the walking plants. But the skel's and the tottering series could see me. Ouch. =) So it's my opinion that there is a small con bug in this area.

Hunted there last night. Was hard to find spawns near City of Mist as a Solo 49 necro easily killed Raging Tigers Trakterotops(Little Dino) Raging Gorillas, Soul Sippers(Giant Mosquito Killer type things). On my way to COM I stayed near the zone wall an was able to kill about three spawns...I did not use the direct approach and kept invis handy for when I needed to med. Had no problems on this trip.Just use a little caution an you should be ok.
Scary
# May 01 2000 at 3:23 PM Rating: Decent
This location is likely very scary hunting for anyone under level 50 anywhere but right next to zones. The problem is not the necessarily the mob difficulty so much as the numbers of them.

Was going to City of the Mist and my group was jumped by skeleton type mob so we proceeded to start working on it.

Before we ran we two gorillas two tigers , one crazy plant plus more joining in. Was quite fun but nuts and the druid died. Its perfectly safe to run across but if you stop and fight everyone and there cousin will jump in to help hehe.
