Soloing Dalnir (Monk)
# Oct 30 2006 at 12:16 PM Rating: Decent
After visiting Dalnir several times before reaching level 45, I prepared for a long journey through the crypt. The first level was a good indicator of how the rest of the dungeon cycles. You always have to watch for roaming mobs and new pops. If there was one thing I learned while soloing here, it is to be patient yet vigilant. Pick your targets carefully and know when to FD or run for the exit.

First level: with the new color system in place, most mobs were grey with a few greens here and there.

Second level: still mostly grey with more greens appearing and light blues now and then.

Third level: still greys and more greens with more light blues appearing. The highest level I encountered was the Kly Overseer on my way out.

If your skills are up to par, I recommend making a quick grab of the Sarnak hide (ground drop - part of the Shackle of Tynnonium quest) before exiting. I had time to think and research this as I camped the Crusader Room for the coerced penkeeper (total of 9 hours over two days). Each level has a relatively safe spot in which to camp if the need arises. If you are seeking the Crescent gear, you must prepare for a looooong wait, especially at level 45. Greys won't drop this (no XP) and greens very rarely do.

Multiple looks of Dalnir
# Jan 02 2006 at 2:43 AM Rating: Decent
Well after a little more of a journey into Dalnir, it should be noted that the different coerced races come in male and female versions, so they look different but are the same with the exception of class. And all the coerced at 38th level were conning dark blue, and at 39th most con light blue, with a couple of darks thrown in.

Any idea on Undead Blacksmith's spawn table? My friends and I camped his room for 4 hours and no *****. We cleaned the Church continually while waiting on him and the imprecator popped then dropped after about 2 hours (Shard was in his fancy britches so we stuffed em with dollar bills till we got our show..)yet no Smith...(

Will go back soon to finish this part of the Greenmist Quest...that Katana will be very satisfying to wield in honor of the Knights of Greenmist and Rile, our Father.
enchanters?
# Mar 09 2003 at 2:09 PM Rating: Default
Hi,had a quick question if anyone can help would be greatful. Are there any enchanter mobs here.I don't mind casters but I try to stay away from mobs that enchante. And also would this be a good zone for a team of a 40 mag and a 40 druid. We work well together and have never grouped outside of each other so we can guess what the other is thinking pretty well which is helpful in a fight. And one more more quicky Are the mobs seperated in to rooms with a couple of spawns in each or is it open house kinda thing.thanks
RE: enchanters?
# Apr 20 2003 at 5:47 PM Rating: Decent
The only enchanter mob that i know of that's here is The Kly himself. Where'd you think all those coerced minions came from? He is nasty, charms, dispells and has a proc that's much like ice comet, but a bit weaker.

the mobs are separated into rooms with wanderers weaving in and out. I went in as a 50 chanter looking for the lost scroll and everything was green to me except a light blue on the 3rd floor. the druid would come in handy to evac if you get adds or port out (or you could gate) cause the only way out once you go down a floor is either gate, or fight to the portal.

I didnt see the kly in my visit (thank innoruuk), so im really not sure how he is, but thats what ive gathered about him from reading the posts on his thread. All in alll it seems like a nice zone, good luck in it and have fun!

Single group?
# Jan 23 2003 at 12:20 PM Rating: Default
I'm currently a 45 chanter on the Inny server, and I'm trying to finish the test of enlightenment (got spoon, and the key), and I need the Lost Scroll, which I think spawns in a bedroom on a third floor. My guild (The Sacred Legion of Tunare) is mostly 50+ and I wondered if a group of us could fight to the exit on the third floor and get the scroll for the chanters in our guild. I read about this place and it sounds dangerous, with adds and casters and all.

If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. ^_^
RE: Single group?
# Jan 29 2003 at 6:05 PM Rating: Default
Your enchanter should be able to walk in by himself with invis up. That is how I got the scroll with my enchanter.
RE: Single group?
# Feb 03 2003 at 10:37 PM Rating: Default
You tellin me there isn't a single mob here that sees invis? or are there some I should avoid? This is my last piece til I have my second piece (well actually my first piece but its called the second piece) of staff, 3 more to go! :P
RE: Single group?
# Apr 20 2003 at 5:53 PM Rating: Decent
Well, the isn't any on the way to the scroll that see invis. But the kly wasnt up so im not sure if he does, I'd imagine so since he is the boss of the zone. To get the scroll, have a map of each floor on hand (EQAtlas, the maps of myrist worked well for me) and do NOT stray off the path, go straight to it and get the heck outta there, I see from the beastiary that there is undead here and from my past experiences with undead, theyll attack you even if they're green (dumb decaying skeletons). This is the easiest part of the epic, i can't wait to start camping verina and Vessel Drozlin, good time to practice tradeskills lol. Wish me luck!
XP Bonus
# Dec 29 2002 at 4:45 PM Rating: Decent
Just a little FYI,

After getting the EQ Atlas for christmas (very nice reading material), there was an interesting passage concerning Dalnirs Crypt.

"Due to the meek so-called "warriors" that Bathezid relieved into Kly's possession, Kly placed an enchantment upon the whole of the crypt in hopes to speed up the training and strength of his guardians. The enchantment did not end its grasp upon the Sarnak warriors and arcane pupils, however, and all creatures that lurk within Dalnir have been subject to its effects."

A.K.A. Nice XP Bonus

Only thinking of the entrance and not going deeper
# Aug 06 2002 at 1:32 PM Rating: Decent
As a 27 mage with a 26 SK we are thinking, and so far only thinking, of spending some time inside the entrance to this place (and not going any further into the top part). I have all of my focus items and she is very experiened and we team well together. Any suggestions would be very welcome.
RE: Only thinking of the entrance and not going deeper
# Aug 09 2002 at 6:42 PM Rating: Decent
I posted this in the strategy site but thought it would help .
They have changed this zone. Spent many days here with multiple characters pre velious/luclin. At that time you could set up safe areas with non aggro nibblers spawns, and once the floor was broken it was easy. I have noticed the past few attempts here that my 35 monk cannot sneak past any mob on first level. I also witnessed the coerced wanderers attacking and killing the wandering or any multi pulled nibbler/goo mobs!!!
I pulled a coerced dwarf and goo to zone and hit FD, after that worked the dwarf and goo turned on each other, I of course stood up and killed the half dead winner )). I also saw a battle between a tier'dal and nibbler from down a hall. So it's quite a change from what I was used to.
So I think it would be tough for you two without some kind of healer/chanter. Any kind of multi pull would mean zone time more then likely. But you can only try, and yes if you do try ONLY THE ENT )) hehe

You would probably do ok at the zone with single pulls. I have grouped in there a couple levels lower and more than 1 mob was very difficult. The nice thing about fighting at the zone is that the mobs run right to the zone and stand in the corner when they flee. There are a lot of casters with pets in this zone and they wander the tunnel near the zone, so there can be several adds at times.

Remarkable change to my favorite dungeon(grrr):

Nibblers and goos getting agroed now by the humanoid NPCs, result: almost only caster mobs up on the first floor now, lumpy goo for example getting killed frequently by NPCs!, etc...

This change make the dungeon far more dangerous than ever.

Whatfor Verant? This dungeon was perfect.

Im planning on getting my monk though his Shakle quest, so i need to go up to the 3rd floor and camp the pennkeeper guy. At lvl 54 could i walk arould with out fear of being jumped by an entire floor? this is going to be my first time entering this zone and not sure what to expect. Also do the earring of station drop off the Kly too? Any advice would be great im not planning on going for a few days.

You'll get jumped, but I camped penkeeper in crusader room fairly easy. Just sneak in the corner with the water puddle and use that to sit and regen in. the door spawn that wanders in and out won't see you.

Bring a group
# Apr 22 2002 at 5:13 PM Rating: Good
just want to ditto several comments about bringing a group. i have been very very eager to raid this dungeon because of the great monk loot, but the several times i have stuck my head in there, it's been empty (and i was lucky to get out alive every time after getting charmed, nuked, poisoned, diseased, slammed, jammed, and scammed in the first five seconds).

not like High Keep where you have to wait in line for the pickup groups.

also, the entrance is really weird -- it looks like you're going under water, but you're not. it's easy to get fooled into running like crazy, thinking you're swimming and that you don't want to drown. however, you will run right into the arms of several casters and be in a big heap a trouble.

lovely place, but very difficult. not feasible to solo in my 30's -- noting that all my resists are 25 or under. with good SVM, SVP, SVD i might be able to solo, but as-is i can barely get in a kick or two before having to run or FD. This dungeon drops many of the best resist items for monks, so CATCH-22!!! Bring a group.

Soloing In Dalnir
# Apr 12 2002 at 1:33 PM Rating: Good
Everyone seems to be asking about soloing here so I thought I would give you some insight on my experiences as a melee in Dalnir. First off I was not really even able to solo the entry mobs as a lvl33 monk. The major problem is that most(90%) of the mobs here in Dalnir are casters, which means you will start a battle by being smitten, or the like, for 50-150 twice in the first 15 seconds of the fight. Then the mobs hit pretty hard so you will lose around 400hp in about 30-45 seconds, depending on your AC and magic resistance. If you have very fast weapons, such as 18dly, or you can stun the mob you will have a much better chance of succeeding against the casters because you will occasionally interrupt them. At lvl35 you should be able to take the entrance mobs, not easily though, as long as you can pull singles but even then you will have long down times unless you have some sort of regen item such as a fungi. What you really want to succeed in Dalnir is a well balanced group or be of a level where you wont get exp, such as lvl45 or higher. Dalnir is a fun place to hunt but with a group not solo. The constant respawns and caster based trains make this place a soloing nightmare for anyone who cant FD. I would suggest that unless you can bring a group of 3 or more stick to the giant fort in Warsliks Woods.

As an Iksar SK this is sort of like my vacation home......

I started here at 28, soloed a lot in mid-high 30's (though I prefer groups). Resists are key, and some techniques are important.

-- mobs do NOT see invis, so scouting is easy
-- lots of SK in the 29 range. Expect one or two HT for 290 when you pull -- sending a pet for a pull iss effective
-- since the caster patch these mobs are smart. They will NOT let you pull then farther than they have to go if they are Necros
-- on 3rd level there are spots where even a level 51 gets exp
-- Yah they do heal each other, but don't gate or get as crazy as that
-- BIG BIG note - 3rd Floor drop area toward undead blacksmith is a LD hell area. Don't know why, but we usually have at l per visit. I'd recommend moving to that area one at a time so you can watch ver the LD toon if it happens

Fun place....but do NOT underestimate it.

As a level 36 sk, I found soloing in Dalnir very rewarding. The exp comes at a fast pace, and the cash is decent as well. High resists are important, but if you go down to the second floor invis, I found more goos and nibblers, as opposed to casters. Sk's are well suited to this dungeon, because they can self invis, snare, and feign death. Good luck.

Not an aversion, but this is a dungeon zone. If you didn't bring a group with you, best just plan on soloing since you're likely going to be the only one in the zone.

could a lv 25 aplly in full bronze with ghoulbane and SBS solo here in room 1 on EQatlas map? I am getting tired of unrest(spent 15 levels in the blasted place, fun but gets boring after months of hunting) and want somewhere as fastpaced yet as good exp and just as seldomly camped, this sounds like a good place assuming i can actually kill stuff, can I?

You wouldn't last very long... it's not that these mobs are that tough but they'll all be yellow or higher and many are casters. Your lvl would be just barely adequate for a group here.
