The forest of Misty Thicket acts as a gateway to the rest of Norrath for Rivervale's Halfling population. It is a fair-sized chunk of land which is divided into two areas by a great wall.
While the eastern side of the wall is well-guarded by the Guardians of the Vale, the western side is dominated by Deathfist Orcs and Runnyeye Goblins.

newbie quest
# Feb 06 2006 at 7:26 AM Rating: Decent
I was doing one of those newbie quests you hear about in PoK, the ones where you gotta hail some dude, then go to the other zone and hail some other dude to get the real quest. Anyways, i was doing one of those and i have to come to Misty Thicket. i Kill 8 Goblins like it says, then Explore both orc camps and kill ten orcs. Now i'm on a part where it says "Uncover the hidden threat 0/1" anyone have any ideas what this "hidden threat" might be?

I discovered the "hidden threat"! Along the south wall, east of the goblin camps, there is a tree with a ring of dark elves around it... they are the "hidden threat"! You have to get near enough to the tree to trigger the "task complete". Hope this helps!

New NPC
# Dec 21 2004 at 1:53 PM Rating: Decent
Swish Appletop. Located on the east side of the zone, sort of near the Rivervale tunnel. When hailed, she says "I'm afraid I can't speak right now, Pulvani. I'm waiting for someone very important to arrive." May be part of the task system, I dunno.

North of the tunnel to Runnyeye, Ferrigon Hepplebottom. Cons dark blue and indifferent to a 58 warrior and didn't respond to hails.

Orc Lumberjacks spawn on the West side of the wall. As far as I know they just spawn. The only spawnable critter in Misty is Slaythe.

Saw this guy today in Misty Thicket, near the wall, on the higher level side. Appx p900, p90. He said he was harvesting grapes, and would I help him, but quest could be broken or something because I said I would help and nothing happened.
RE: Epicurean Halfling

It is part for a quest. The part you need to get done before it seems rough so far. Last I knew someone had it up on the EQDruids site. You can get the grapes from him by handing him a Sands of Ro.

RE: old gourdhead
# Feb 09 2003 at 10:20 AM Rating: Default
He is part of a druid quest. It appears the land used to be fertile but is haunted by some unknown force.

The scarecrow is there to warn people to stay away.

I've seen old gourdhead too i just used him to keeper the rats away from me while i nuked them. It worked! I have no other information otherwise
RE: old gourdhead
# Jan 16 2003 at 7:48 PM Rating: Decent
I was in MT the other night, fighting the rats and skeles, when Old Gourdhead said," Beware, Beware!!! This place is cursed, Listen, Listen to Gourdhead. This place is cursed!"
I dont know if this has any meaning or not, just thought i'd let you know he does more than stand there and agro all the creatures in his range.
Also a few months ago you could target him for a split second, now you cant even do that.
He doesn't appear on tracking at all. After killing everything around him, a halfling zombie spawns, which is quite rare for that half of MT.

Acutally he does show up on tracking. My level 4 Halfling Ranger first noticed him while looking at the tracking list then ran to investigate. He's got a swarm of diseased rats stationed nearby that chased be back to the guards.

Orc lumberjacks drop Axes and Machetes. You need two of each to finish the Ranger Quest (I think) in Rivervale.

Cozy and Rufus?
# Oct 02 2002 at 2:18 AM Rating: Decent
I saw a couple of wolves the other day pacing in tight formation near the Honeybuggers' hut. At first I thought they were a couple of PCs, but they're a couple of named wolves; Cozy and (I think...) Rufus. Can anyone tell me what they're there for?

Once we have a link up took a [-]screenshot to share.

It sure drew a crowd for a scarecrow.

A dozen misty critters all snipping at it's straw feet.

Mooto
# Jul 01 2002 at 12:37 AM Rating: Default
Mooto spawn at the 2nd goblin camp going left when you are heading from RV to the wall. He spawn there goes to the camp at the RE entrance then walk to the other goblin camp right of that camp then he feel the pain of my "Dathor Great Hammer" for 267 damage fall down and die and I loot a doll which is Crap and gave it to a Young Halfling. The End.

RE: Mooto's spawn

Mooto spawns at one of the goblin camps (along the south wall I think) and runs back and forth between the camps buffing the other gobbies. But I've never had to look for him, he always seems to find me.

I saw A zombie around the haunted obolisk the other day. I have never heard anyone talk about them, and they aren't listed to be in the Misty Thicket. I didn't get the chance to see what they dropped because Deputy Keld killed it before I could finish it.

The zombies show up in misty every so often. Can't really tell you just what triggers them. Same with the Dread Corpse. They are they on occasion. When I was lower lvl....like 8-10 they handed me my butt more than once. Now at 17, I go after them just to show them whose boss!! lolol

His head is used in a druid quest, turn it in and you get a scimatar that with the act of sharping and having a giant Fruit Bat wing can give you a 5/30 +2 Wis scimatar for only halfling druids. Hope that helped.
