Castle Mistmoore is home base for the vampire followers of Mayong Mistmoore. With only one zone-in/out, it's not uncommon to see some massive trains here.

Interestingly enough, it is possible to make yourself non-KOS to the castle's residents through faction work, (in doing so, however, you'll make enemies out of the League of Antonican Bards and Ring of Scale).

Note: For the higher level revamp version of this zone (available only in special events - usually branded as "Hardcore Heritage", running several weeks in the spring and/or summer), click here.

Camped her for the WF/Greenmist scrolls - she can spawn anywhere in the room marked as "library" on the eqatlas map. She seems to be like the other mobs for the whistling fist quest - completely random spawn.

It is actually a great place for a lower level guild to practice their raid techniques.. trains can be amazing in the castle, there are lots of twists and turns, but hte gear is rather.. pathetic. Wouldn't be much of a challenge, really, but great practice zone.

Well, if you are a twink bent on getting fast exp, I doubt MM would be your best option. Seeing that it is a dungeon-esque zone, soloing can be a pain in the *** often.

Also, on most servers MM is pretty much dead as far as exp grouping goes, simply because better exp can be found elsewhere. With c3 and twink gear, I'd go with choice B if you just need levels.

actually this is a very nice zone for guild raids and even some group hunting, there is nice loot that drops here. for slow cash and good faction you can kill gargoyles for their eyes, they sell for about 9-10pp a piece with 92 cha and kindly faction. =)

would a 41 bard do good in this zone? if so , should i bring a group, or solo? need info , ty for any one who answers :-)
RE: 41 bard
# Apr 09 2003 at 10:50 AM Rating: Decent
Last nite a group of low 40s high 30s (avg level 40) camped the entry hallway or foyer for about 3 hours with minimal problems. Although we had a couple fites where we had to fite 8 or 9 at a time, or group had little problems here.

The only word of warning is that managing pulls with a soothe or having a chanter definately helps since it seems the agro ranges of these monsters is unusually large.

If you plan on soloing as a bard, keep your lull and snare songs up and ready to go. Otherwise you should be fine.

At 41 there's a lot you could do here, grouped and solo. The mobs range from 20-40ish, throughout the zone.

As a bard, you could most likely melee solo the area from the entryway to the castle, including the graveyard. Outside the castle its easy to escape from too many adds just by slapping on selo's and hauling *** to the zone. Not much drops down in that area, short of the MM shield from Ghoul and dagger off the imp though.

You might be able to invis around and kill the weaker named spawns, such as the Caitiff, and possibly maid/butler depending on what your gear is like. With little adds it should be relativly easy. Always remember to snare; wandering mobs can cause problems real quick. Inside the castle itself, fighting can be a problem as there is not much of a chance of escaping if you have to flee, with all the mobs blocking the way to the exit.

With a solid tank and healer around 30-45 you could do pretty much any camp in the zone, the fountain being one of your best bets for the hooded black cloak off the dhampyre. With some more support classes, taking the entry hall and pulling several spawns for better loot and exp would be a viable option.

Soloing for exp on the other hand would be difficult as a bard, seeing that seemingly easy battles can turn disasterous pretty quick with just and add or two in such close quarters. Beware of the casters as well, as they tend to be undercons in comparison with their warrior counterparts. The wizard types can nuke in excess of 350 and wont hesitate to snare and root. Necros often lay on dots, as well as nuke for around 170 as well.

All in all, Mistmoore is a great place to bring a group or to mess around in solo for some decent loot and exp around lvl 30-45. It makes a good raid zone too for low end guilds, if you wanted to bring a few friends along also.

Eirod Haerod
# Feb 27 2003 at 2:31 AM Rating: Decent
Our tank attacked Eirod thinking she was just another mob from the yard. She was dark blue to me, 43 enchanter. He stepped back, realizing that party wasn't with him, but I had followed and took her full fury. Resisted everthing I tried to cast and hit in the 140's FAST. I was dead in seconds. She cons indifferent if you don't attack her. My advice to you would be DON'T.

Eirod Haerod is part of the charm of brotherhood quest. You don't have to do her part of it though so most people just skip to the end and hand the 4 medallions to the guy in Neriak.

Saw her hanging out near zone. Indiff and green at 56. Had a wizzie cast an Ice comet on her, the spell landed with full dmg (1210 or so), she was still 80% life or a bit more.

Green and hitting for 140 fast and that many HP, i would say she is another perfect example of "undercon" mobs.

51 Monk here, I heard this place gives faction with bards- which is pretty much the main thing thats been keeping me from advancing any further into many of the cities ive worked so hard to get into. Im at scowls, and I dont think wolf is going to help any, so faction slaying is the only way i know of to do it right now. Would it be possible to do this at my level without being partnered? Ill probably try it today, but any help/hints would be very much appreciated, as Im not even sure I can do it at this level.

I assume you've figured it out by now, but you could definitely work this zone at lvl 51 for faction solo. I'm not sure how far into the castle you could go, but there's lots of lower lvl hunting in the courtyard which if a lvl 35 bard can solo (me), you can solo :-)
I do know soloing at lvl 51 inside can be tricky as large trains come out frequently. (more often than not without announcement.)

Would the world be nice if people announced their trains? (hint hint)

my friend daize, a 62 druid, ran into this one while getting stuff for her pally... nuked 3 tiems for 1k + and still at like 97%... anyone have any info on this mob?
RE: dark huntress
# Jan 16 2003 at 12:38 PM Rating: Decent
She is a royal pain. Myself (42 pally), 45 pally, 45 ranger, and 57 cleric aggroed her by accident. Basically kept cleric stunned enough so that 45 pally died and we had to zone.

She is HIGHLY magic resistant, but she is undead. So pally undead nukes will hit when she doesn't resist.

BTW, we healed up, zoned back in and kicked her butt.
RE: dark huntress
# Dec 27 2002 at 2:17 PM Rating: Default
She used to be a mere curiosity, would pop and stand there for a few seconds and then would de-pop. Now, she pops and stays up to agro. First encounter with the new Huntress was me (56 Shaman) and friend (57 Paladin) farming Mistmoore.

Alone, she is no problem. Add in a room full of greens and things begin to become problematic. She isn't particularly difficult, especially once slowed, but she has *alot* of HP. It also wasn't five minutes after killing her that we heard her casting spells again.

No faction hits, no loot.

I don't really understand the changes made, Mistmoore was never an easy place to clear for level appropriate players and now with the addition of an agro-ing Dark Huntress the zone is pretty much pointless for anyone not farming.

Unfortunately, as far as we could tell she doesn't pop in the same place everytime and she also roams. A pity really, with that short pop time she would be great to exp on.
Trains
# Dec 21 2002 at 9:52 AM Rating: Decent
My guild decided to raid mistmoore. We had 2 full groups and a group of 4 (all btw lvl 35 and 45). We did really well and made it about halfway into castle. Had a monk pulling and accidentally started a train. Wiped out almost our whole raid, one group got evac off in time. So beware of trains even if you have a couple groups. Did get the hilt though so worth the trip and one of the funnest raids i have been on.

Once you clear the entrance have a monk pull the ballroom starting from the left entrance (as you face the ballroom). The ballroom pathing goes from the right entrance, around the back of the ballroom (passing the hate list to everything on the ballroom floor in the process) and then out the left entrance. Once the left entrance is clear then you can pull the main floor and work your way around to the right entrance. To be safe, clear the ambassdor's room left of the ballroom first. This tactic has worked for me several times. You still get big pulls but more manageable. Have a chanter or bard handy.
Soloable Scrolls?

hello, I am a lvl 46 fairly well equipped monk, no fungi, but RotLC, 26% haste, nice weaps, and the Shackle of Tynnonium. I am currently working on the Whistling Fists and I need to finish the stupendous tome quest. Supposedly 2-3 of the scrolls I need for it are dropped off of the Assistant dark librarian (or something lke that) for anyone that knows what the heck i am talkig about. Would it be possible to solo my way to the liibrarians and solo the camp until I get the scrolls i need?

Thank you in advance.

Sorry, but no. Just a few hours ago I was in Mistmoore with a full group, me (39 druid), a 41 ranger, 37 chanter, 38 necro, 40 cleric, and 40 shaman. We killed the 'a dark ***'t librarian' (exact spelling) and i looted the scroll. She is about the same level as everything around her, problem is just that, everything is around her. Thanks for clearing up what it is for though, I was wondering.

RE: forgot to add...
# Nov 27 2002 at 11:55 AM Rating: Decent
Hail, Kevinea.

At 35 you should be able to get pieces you need for Ivy Etched Armor with a full group of comparable levels, or up to around 40. Make sure you have at least one solid healer and a couple of taunting melees to manage adds that get out of control. You'll get great experience, make some decent loot, and have a lot of fun along the way. Learn the zone, though, because you might also have to flee like mad when things turn ugly.

On Tholuxe Paells (one of the younger, least populated servers) this is a B.Y.O.G. (Bring Your Own Group) zone. Except during infrequent raids, there's usually no more than one other group at work at a given time, and perhaps a higher level farmer working solo deep inside the castle.

Here's the easiest way I found to get the Ivy Etched pieces at around your level. Make sure that everyone prints out a map of the zoen before you start! Have your group fight up to the graveyard one mob at a time, work inside and clear the yard. Med up, then head through the secret door into the jail. Use the false door trigger to open the three cell doors with mobs inside, and pull them out one at a time to fight, starting with the casters. Now set up camp in the jail.

Have a puller go through the secret door to the north and pull from the stairs. From the top of stairs, they should go left, and pull from the series of rooms beyond there, one at a time. It's a bit of a long pull, but effective. Pull as many rooms as you can before the jail respawns (as health and mana allow), then start the process again. You'll get the mobs you need in the mix.

Various gargoyles drop Mistmoore Granite used to make Ronium
Deathly Ushers drop the Rune of Ivy

Alternately your whole group can hop from room to room, which is effective if you're a good group, but more dangerous if things go wrong because you've got a long run to the zoneline.

Yeah, I had the same question as you, had to go digging and do some experimenting for the answers.

The two NPCs you want are named "a dark ***`t librarian" and "a dark librarian". They are both female dark elves (living) and neither of them cast spells. I believe they are both in the level 30-32 range, though I haven't had a chance to get a solid con on the dark librarian. The assistant is light blue at level 44.

They both always drop their respective Illegible Scrolls for the Lord of Pain's Khukri/Greenmist.

Neither of them are particularly rare as far as I can tell, I saw them both spawn twice in the span of an hour clearing their respective rooms. Maybe I was just lucky, I have heard of people camping them for hours on end (then again, maybe they were camping the wrong room.)

They spawn in seperate rooms.

The ***`t spawns at approximately -90, -95, -150, in a small bedroom. Two other spawns occupy this room that I'm aware of... a gargoyle and another NPC. To get there, you go up the stairs and through the double door and keep making lefts at every turn. If you reference EQAtlas's map (http://eqatlas.com/mistmooremap.html), it is eastmost room above the -100 line in the bottom inset.

The dark librarian spawns at approximately +90, -90, -150, in the "library" marked as 19 on EQAtlas's map. If you go through the double doors and turn right, looking down the hall, it is the first door in front of you.

A warning, I believe they both will despawn if you let the castle go through the day/night cycle without killing them.

I've submitted this info along with a screenshot of the assistant to Illia, hopefully they will be listed here soon.

Good luck.

I experienced my first guild raid here and I had a blast. We spent 7 hours here, went through the graveyard and upstairs and it got to the point that I just followed orders and blasted when I could. Yes I died 3 times, we had a cleric with us and the teamwork was great and the officers and guild leadership made it a memorable experience. After it was all over I still came out of it with more xp than when I went in. Thanks to the Slayers of Fate management and leadership I look forward to the next raid.

Killing Xic
# Aug 07 2002 at 8:52 AM Rating: Decent
Was grouped with 42 level pal, 38 wiz, 51 pal, and me 40 pal, last night. We took the Gargoyle room leading up to the Bath and held it for a little over two hours. The 51 pal pulled, typically one at a time. We killed about 8 placeholders before Xicotl showed up... he ran at the end and caused us to create a huge parade going down to the Graveyard.
His Harm Touch did 461 to the 51 and he really beat the guy down. All of the paladins rushed to follow and wack Xic. The wizard was left alone in the room and when the garg's respawned she got wiped.... even with a late LOH from me ans I ran back into room. Point - we should have had a better plan.
Regardless, another hilt received for the good guys.

13-24 --- 6 levels
25-40ish - approx 10 levels
