Rivaled only by Permafrost in terms of danger on the continent of Antonica, this treacherous network of caves is located deep within the Lavastorm Mountains. Inside these caves is a variety of residents.

In the northeast is a clan of aggressive kobolds with a series of tents and camps, hunted for their valuable bronze and fine steel. In the central area are a host of sonic bats, which see invisibility, and spiders, which tend to swarm those unlucky enough to become entrapped in their webs. In the west are the fire imps and elementals, as well as the Efreeti Lord Djarn.

In the south, the deepest part of this maze-like network of caves, is the castle of fire giants. These warriors and wizards loyal to Nagafen are led by the shadow knight King Tranix. The giants are the guardians of the fire dragon, Lord Nagafen, whose open lair is situated in the deepest point of the caverns.

usually branded as "Hardcore Heritage", running several weeks in the spring and/or summer), click here.

getting to fire giants
# Nov 22 2005 at 12:05 PM Rating: Default
this will get you to fire giants without having to kill anything: swim past sonic bats thru lava, run across land to solC zone and wait in sol C for yout train to disperse, exit sol C, then swim acros the lava, jumping up the mini water(/lava)fall, and following that round. this gets you to Ragefire with no aggro, yay!

also you can keep swimming thru there lava, where 2 fire giants will then aggro you, kill them and now you are at the big door to naggy.

Was a nice fight.
Kobold King hit MT (70 Bst 243 AA, Time/Elemental gear, 7,5khp) up to 1050 and wacked the whole group a bit. Some minor adds from the kobolds around and kings pet where handled by the 55 Rogue, Bst wasted 2 buffed 68lvl pets out of "healing accident" (suspended minions). He is surely more easy if you don't have to 5-box him. Easy to tash/slow (partially). Cleric had half of mana and Druid was empty cause he expected more dmg and healed with fast emergency heals. Enrage at 10% was no problem, simply stop beating ;-) .. he didn't run. Avoid pushing him into the nearby rooms with his friends, esp if other fabled are up ... lol...would be a happy add ... perhaps Bst can solo with better buffs (Wunshi/Oak instead of Naltron/Nine). Need a bit mana for the heals ;-) and it could be a hard and long fight if you try it solo but it should be possible.

group:
70 bst (243 AA, Time/Elemental)
55 rog (0 AA, pre-VT)
60 clr (0 AA, pre-VT)
65 dru (17 AA, pre-VT, light ornate/OoW)
59 enc (0 AA, pre-VT)

drops:
- Fabled Runed Mithril Bracer (AC13, Str5, Dex5, Wis10, HP50, mana75, svFire8, svCold8, svMagic8, Reagent Conservation IV)
- Mithril Bracer
- some poison making ingredients

Was after him today. He was level 65. Has a max hit for 1100. Rampages often. I tried to solo him, 70 beast with 500+ aa, it killed my pet and I barely made it to the zone with my life. Do not know what he drops except PCs.

Hunting Level?
# Feb 19 2003 at 8:36 AM Rating: Decent
Me and my wife (me a level 39 mag her a level 39 druid) have been hunting Sol A goblins since 30.Its been very fun and profitable there but xp has become almost nothing. We can camp the king's room now and take king and 5 other mobs all at once.We could switch to knomes but don't want to take the faction hits.Could we come to Sol B and hunt just the greater kobolds and survive the encounters? And if so where in the zone has just kobalds and nothing else? Was thinking one of the zone lines from Sol A.We would be greatful for any help or opinions on the matter.

Me (lvl 43 ranger now) just hunted here today with two more rangers, a druid, and a cleric. I've been here before with just a druid, and we did fine, but the problem here is the trains. Adds come very quickly and very often, and the shamans will make you beat your head against the wall. If you're going to hunt here, i suggest bringing friends.

I have been able to Solo the kobolds since lvl 40 FD pulling them to the zone line up at the top of the pool room area (zones to SOL A behind the secret wall in forman room). As for getting to window room... zone in to SOL B from lava take the first left you will come to a room with a ramp that starts on the left head up the ramp and take the first left, just before the ramp turns into a tunnel, the left takes you into a tunnel with a Greater Kobold spawn about 1/2 way up. Be carefulkl when killing him he will path back out to the ramp and up the other tunnel and bring much pain down on your head, so snare or just kill him before he gets too far. continue up this tunnel and you come to a room there will be a tunnel up to the left and just to the right of that a ramp up. if you look to the right of the ramp you will see a wall with a window in it. welcome to the window room, there is a spawn between the tunnel to the left and the ramp and there is a spawn at the top of the ramp, you can almost see him through the window.

How to get to Window/Pool from Lavastorm ZI:

Follow the first hallway until it opens up into three tunnels, one goes left, one goes straight up the stairs, one goes right.

You want to go left.

After exiting this hallway you will find yourself in the Circle Room. IIRC there is one Kobold in the way, kill him.

Head up the stairs in front of you and take your *IMMEDIATE* left. If you continue forward and right you will reach the KPC area, which at your level I would avoid.

There will be one Kobold when you make the left, so don't be surprised by him. Kill him, continue down the tunnel and it will you see an open room with a window. Set up camp and pull to this area.

If you pull too far, you might hit a ZI into SolA, don't panic, just zone back into SolB the way you came.

As far as whether you can solo or not in here, I don't know. I can tell you that fighting in here without a reliable form of root or snare can lead to very bad things.

Here is the Official history behind Nagafen as chronicled by Verant in EverQuest Atlas: The Maps of Myrist (page 293): "Cast out of the Ring of Scale for reasons that still remain unclear, the red dragon Lord Nagafen has resided for centuries in the fiery depths beneath the LavaStorm Mountains.

As Chronicled within the annals of the devout followers of Erollisi Marr known as The Maidens of the Rose, Nagafen, true to his dragon nature exacted a toll in maidens from the people of Qeynos, forcing them to transport one maiden a year across the continent and leave her in his cavern dwelling. This went on for many years, until a pious and beautiful maiden named Erollette - a novice in the temple of Erollisi Marr, the Goddess of Love - was selected. When Erollette sank to the ground before Nagafen, she uttered a final prayer to her goddess, asking only that her sacrifice be the last the maidens of Qeynos must endure.

Her bravery and selflessness touched the goddess, who took pity on her. As Nagafen prepared to dine, Erollisi used a golden thread to sew Nagafen's heart to his stomach, twisting his pangs of hunger into pangs of love for Erollette. Under the enchantment, he could not bear to eat her, or anything else - he was lovelorn after all. So he grew hungrier, but the more he starved the more his heart swelled in his chest and the bigger his body became, until he was so huge he could not leave the confines of his cave. He begged her to stay with him, but seeing the dragon was helpless, Erollette rejoiced and returned home to report the good news and dedicate her life to worship."

it was the start of a long, but sad relationship, plagued with prejudice and deceit.
Naggy Raid on Xev
# Nov 21 2002 at 8:14 PM Rating: Good
Here is a briefing of what happened on our servers recent Naggy raid...

First 1/2 hr.- We all got organized, headed to right outside castle.

15min later- We get wiped out by King & Pet, Warlord, and 6 other FG's. A pull gone bad.... everyone had to die or FD.

1 hour since start- GM arrived, despawned everything, we got back on our bearings.

1 & 1/2 hr from start- King dead, dropped crown, Warlord dead, dropped crap. All was clear to enter castle and I got burned in magma! (Not for long, I climbed out)

1 & 5/6 hr from start- We had a slight stop at TR for an all-out-war against a squad of FG's, now in Prep room.

2 & 1/2 hr from start- All are buffed (I was a buffer out of 15 buffers) and we get real exited. Some of us get scared though.

Naggy Brawl- The main tank said for all casters to stay down, but I was mischevious. I watched the 3 min brawl and avoided 2 fears. I managed to get a peek at the final blow b4 I ran down to the bottom.

2 & 40 min from start- Loot was Treasure Bag, Gold Plated Koshnigatana (MINE!), Bladestopper, Ruby, Ruby crown, and I thinkthat was it. No scales or CoF (Some1 musta ninjed them)

I was killing FG's for fun waiting for ragefire for my turnin, and decided to fight all the way up to the lair with just me (56 cleric) a 55 monk, and a 60 bard. all was great and we had the place cleared until this named guy. after medding to full and buffed with what we had, we went to pull him and like 50 things followed. it was great fun, we had to banish out...
