Rivaled only by Permafrost in terms of danger on the continent of Antonica, this treacherous network of caves is located deep within the Lavastorm Mountains. Inside these caves is a variety of residents.

In the northeast is a clan of aggressive kobolds with a series of tents and camps, hunted for their valuable bronze and fine steel. In the central area are a host of sonic bats, which see invisibility, and spiders, which tend to swarm those unlucky enough to become entrapped in their webs. In the west are the fire imps and elementals, as well as the Efreeti Lord Djarn.

In the south, the deepest part of this maze-like network of caves, is the castle of fire giants. These warriors and wizards loyal to Nagafen are led by the shadow knight King Tranix. The giants are the guardians of the fire dragon, Lord Nagafen, whose open lair is situated in the deepest point of the caverns.

usually branded as "Hardcore Heritage", running several weeks in the spring and/or summer), click here.

Many, many people say you are dead with lower than 100 unbuffed fire resist but i went in with 25 FR unbuffed and didn't die, in fact we kicked his ***. I resisted the roar a few times and took full damage once, major FR in here is over rated and i know several other peopl who were there who also had sucky FR. i am not saying its useless i am just saying its not the life or death issue most make it out to be.

anyone have suggestions on how to get to ragefire when in early 30's? he sells a 29th lvl wiz spell yet seems impossible to get to at that lvl. was hoping to be there when nag was killed so i could buy from him but seems too dangerous to get to...any help will be appreciated, thankyou

Since ragefire is camped 24-7 for the cleric epic I would suggest asking if you can go along with a naggy raid and then stick around waiting for ragefire to pop it can take 0 to 72 hours from when naggy dies

RE: Tboots?
# Mar 22 2002 at 12:31 PM Rating: Decent
Bought Tboots with my rogue. Original price he quoted was 6800pp and same price for tink bag. With hide and sneak and 5 CHA items on he then conned indif. CHA up to 89 and the price on the boots dropped to 5650pp. Funny thing is everytime i clicked "done" and then right clicked him to check price again the price went up. I had to zone out, log, relog to get back to price of 5650pp.

rats are bad for your health

Recent studies have shown that rats are not good to fight. They can give you a bad case of rabies and a headache.
RATS OH YEAH

OH yeah there are high lvl rats. Go to hole and see by yourself there are lvl 40+ rats and they are very hard mobs too.

Not at all true
# Nov 27 2000 at 3:31 PM Rating: Good
To say that magical resistances here are high is not at all right. Most creatures here have normal resistances to magic.

Creatures in this dungeon are almost totally immune to fire. The only ones I'm not sure about resisting fire are the Sonic Bats, but using fire based spells on anything else is a waste of time and mana.

In order or resistances are:
[li] Greater Kobolds - normalmagic resist
[li] Solusek Kobolds - normal magic resist for lvl 40 creatures
[li] Lava Beetles - low magical resistances
[li] Sonic Bats - no worse than drolvarg sentries
[li] LDC - Seems like higher resist if you're fighting these at low levels, but normal resistance if you're lvl 45+
[li] Lava Guardians - Normal resistances
[li] Imp Protectors - High Resistance. the only creatures besiides Naggy and the Giants to have it in here.

Now, Casters may want to ignore the place because with the exception of the Golden Efreeti Boots and a couple items off the Fire Giants, there's not alot of great loot for casters here; but the XP is excellent even into the high 50s.

Great place for caster, the monsters have relatively Low HP, they don't hit for alot and trains are few and far between.

Mage followers use your blade series here! Don't waste your time with Evocation spells.

Isn't it ironic that we spend all our newbie levels fighting these things in the yard in front of Freeport, only to have to fight bats and beetles and little spiders all over again in Sol B? We need fire rats to make it complete!

On Naggy
# Jun 08 2000 at 10:59 AM Rating: Decent
Do not stand below him then !
No really, you never heard of fire resistance gear ? Do not even THINK to be a tank or caster in the fight if your fire res is not at 100 unbuffed.
YES, that means getting inferior items as full set for the fight ... but in the end it will be worth the lesser AC ... all those AC wont save you if you burn to a crisp in his breath you know. Go to Allakzams and sort through the lists to find the gear you need.
Lord Nagafen
# Jun 06 2000 at 10:37 AM Rating: Decent
I was hoping to see more post on Lord naggy <sigh> Well after a patch last week me, and about 50 folks all 50+ went to see what they did to Lord Naggy. Only thing I recall from this slaughter was I lost 4 bubs of exp and wasted about 10 hours. Iv slain naggy in groups of 30 and was hoping to find anyone that any info on what happen. His AoE has to be nerfed. I stood under him for 20 seconds and was killed by it. So if anyone has anything please post it.
#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 09 2000 at 10:45 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Shut the hell up. If you and 50 other 50+ lvl people couldn't kill Naggy then you ALL are horrible at EQ and should cancel your accounts now. Last night a group of 25 lvl 43 - 52's (mostly 47s or 48s) took out Naggy with only 4 deaths. Those deaths were mainly because they were casters and got hit by Nag's AoE (which does b/n 400 - 800 depending on your heat resist).
#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 31 2000 at 8:47 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) no it sounds like they had too big a party and lagged out.

Exactly. Fifty people are insane. What also hurts is when everyone is taking screenshots. That really increases packet-loss when done on a big scale.

More on guano
# Mar 20 2000 at 12:23 AM Rating: Decent
I have found that at least on my server (prexus) whenever the guano is visible he drops the cloak of shadows. One time while killing bats he spawned twice in a row, both times being visible. Those two times he had the cloak. Me and a brother shaman ended up winning the cloaks in the random. =)
P.S. the above statement was based on my personal observations. as such it may or may not be correct
RE: More on guano
# Mar 29 2001 at 10:11 AM Rating: Default
Guano spawns uninvis and cast invis after about 3 sec or so. You probably caught him before he could cast invis on himself. Either way, you guys you VERY LUCKY to kill him twice and looting the cloak twice!
