Home to the ice dragon herself, Lady Vox, Permafrost Keep is one of the most dangerous dungeons on Antonica. With hidden traps, a maze of caverns, giants and goblins at every turn... there are countless ways you could meet an icy grave here in Permafrost.

Did they go and kill the old spawn time? I can remember they seemed to pop on about the same timer as teh ones outside, but now they seem to pop only when people are logged for the night <grin> The only giant that pops with any regularity seems to be the diplomat, and near as I can tell he doesnt have teh diamond dust I am after for the gemcutter=(

I have been doing some serious soloing down in the pits. I have aggroed the Ice witch a few times. 1st time I tried to fight her. She had some rune spell on her cause after like 30 swings I had yet to hit her. She was hitting me in the 90's so I figured WTF your **** is mine. Managed to bash her out of a half a dozen casting then she got one off. 1120 dmg. Yeah my **** was hers. I casted harm shield and ran the fook to the zone and never looked back. Her aggro range is not that large though just stay away from her side lol. Now if I could find a way to single pull the giants in Vox's cave i;ll be all set. After about 3 at once it get a little crazy.

Drop Into Bear Lair??
# May 02 2004 at 8:16 PM Rating: Decent
From what I can gather, the drop into the Bear and Spider Lair is somewhere past the Ice Giant and Diplomat rooms. I have looked at the maps at Atlas and checked the forums, to find the location of the "drop" into Bear/Spider liar and can't find any mention of the spot. Can someone please help and list the positive/negative numerical loctaion please.

He is slowable too,
undercons heavily so bring a good group.

A friend who killed him a few days ago told me he he has a PH (which was a spider at that time but I assume it may be other mobs as well).

He spawns nearby, in LoS (yet outside aggro range it seemed) when you drop down in the west-most trap into the pit.

No clue on the respawn time yet. We killed the mob once (he didn't drop the piece so it is not a guaranteed drop) and waited a while for the respawn but didn't see anything turn up at that spot for some time and decided to go away and come back another time.

I hate this zone
# May 26 2003 at 11:51 PM Rating: Decent
I was on a raid here and i decided i would follow the puller to see what it was like where he pulled from. The puller stopped, I kept running and I fell into a pit full of 50+ KoS Bears,Spiders, and Icy Terrors. Thank God I had invis. Well anyway it took like 3 hours until a druid came down and ported me out.
RE: I hate this zone
# May 29 2003 at 9:27 AM Rating: Decent
Next time I would suggest that you ask if you can follow to see what it's like. Next time when going in to unknown territory and following someone make sure you stay behind them, when they stop, you stop, follow their instructions and their actions. Most pullers prefer not to do this as this activity is a distraction and can cause some major problems, if the puller agrees than learn to follow their actions and instructions and it can be a good learning experience.

I hate it when people follow the puller. Those are the people that get the group killed. Total morons, all of em.

Indeed, people should not follow the puller. In LDoN I am often the puller and have to be careful where to walk when pacifying rooms. Aside from that, if they come into the door opening to look inside, they are standing in the way when the puller returns with his pull.

In case of monks FD pulling it can even cancel out the whole mechanics of the method, as mobs see the monk go down and... 'hey! there's another person standing nearby that I don't like'. ;)

This guy is involved in the new Jaggedpine Druid Armor quests.

From EQTraders.com:
----------
You say, 'what is a jade studded rawhide tunic?'
Jhaya Wyndrunner gives a gentle, almost musical chuckle of delight, 'Nolan Greenwood must be quite excited to have his great talents be of interest and use once again. I will be more than willing to aid you in fulfilling my former mentor and dearest friend's task of you. Unfortunately, I am at a loss for the supplies that are necessary to aid you properly and my duties keep me safe in the Glade. I will need you to bring me two specific [items] and I will be happy to sew them into the tunic.'

You say, 'what items?'
Jhaya Wyndrunner says 'The items I require for this tunic will not be easy to acquire, my friend and I do apologize for the turmoil that you will likely plunge yourself into to fulfill this task -- but as is the way of those whom defend the natural world. The two items I need of you are the [Pouch of Polished Jade Stones] and a [Black Rawhide Tunic].''

You say, 'what is a pouch of polished jade stones?'
Jhaya Wyndrunner says 'Our artisans of the Jaggedpine pride themselves on the beauty and quality of their products. The jade stone has become a sort of a symbol to those of us in the Jaggedpine and it is used almost exclusively to decorate all of our powerful tools. Unfortunately, many others have found the potential of these stones and have begun to reave them from us and our craftsman have been too occupied with the recent events to make any great supply of these items. You must [find] one of the [stolen pouches].''

You say, 'where can I find the stolen pouches?'
Jhaya Wyndrunner says 'With the creation of the passageway in Blackburrow to the Jaggedpine Forest, many of the poachers that are native to Qeynos soil have secretly made their way into our woodlands. They maliciously destroy our beautiful and sacred beasts solely for the purpose of monetary profit. We were not prepared to encounter such individuals and these thieves raided many of our establishments at Fort Jaggedpine. The artisans were not spared these barbarous acts and many of our precious stones were stolen. I know the name of the one who may have these stones -- [Greshvoule].''

You say, 'who is greshvoule?'
Jhaya Wyndrunner glares at the mention of the name, 'Greshvoule was one of many poachers to invade our forest after the construction of the subterranean passageway. He is a very cunning thief and a warrior not to be trifled with. He. . . killed one of our artisans and a dear friend of mine, Callisa, who specialized in the art of carving and polishing these jade stones. One of the rangers native to the glade graced me with his favor and found that the barbarian known as Greshvoule is hiding in Permafrost, trying to escape proper justice for his crimes against the glade. If you could find him and avenge the wrongs committed against my dear friend and the glade, I would be eternally grateful.'

You say, 'what is a black rawhide tunic?'
Jhaya Wyndrunner says 'That is an item that you must forge with your own skills, my friend. We of the Jaggedpine use the resources that nature allows us to the fullest extent and it is our law that when we embrace nature's gifts, that the one whom has gained those gifts must use their own hands and work to earn that gift -- for she has granted it to you, and you alone. I can tell you [how to make the Black Rawhide Tunic] and perhaps make this task a bit easier for one as new to our ways as yourself, my friend.''

Saw her this evening, Conned red to 47, blue to me at 54. Hit our monk with an ice based damage nuke for 1085, so she has some pretty nasty firepower. I did not get a good look at her, but she looked like she was either human or Erudite. I did not want to get any closer than I had to. =P

She spawns in a niche in the lower part of the zone where all the polar bears and wolves are. Be careful if you are in this area as she has a large aggro range and is kinda hidden.

It is a German word, correctly spelled Ueber or über (hopefully that HTML entity for a u with umlaut comes through). As above it means above, over or super... its usage in English probably comes from F. Nietzsche's Thus Spake Zarathustra and his philosophy of the uuml;bermensch or superman.

The idea and word were later coopted and perverted by the ***** who were, ironically, everything that the so-called superman was not (by Nietzsche's ideas).

In everquest it means, in genreal 60th or thereabouts level, with "ueber" gear, which is extremely hard to get, even at that level.

Often it seems to be synonymous with "crazy," and in some case "asinine."

I believe it is a German word or synonym that stands for the equivalent of the word "above," "stands out" or "super."

New Mob in Permafrost
# Jul 25 2002 at 3:20 AM Rating: Decent
New mob in bear pit called The Ice Witch. She dropped a no drop scroll for wiz mag enc. Hits pretty hard. Was hitting in high 90s and low 100s and was casting spells that were hitting between 400 and 800. I am 60 ranger on Terris Thule and took her with help of 55 druid. Both of us were oom when she died and half health. I used weaponshield to get an extra bit of time without melee damage. Will post the name of scroll I looted after I check it....gotta be a new quest of some sort. Be careful going down pit now. She does not see invis/camo but if icy terrors saw you coming down and uninvised you ...you might be in trouble.

The scroll is called "Scroll of Tempest Eye" it has class:WIZ MAG ENC race:ALL Diety:Karana but no other stats or slot association. It also cannot be read. Anyone know what this is for?

Also the Ice Witch was KoS to both a Human Cleric and an Iksar SK. When killed she gave negative Vox and Nagafen faction.

I was in Perma hunting Ice Goblin Blood to make some tempers for a friend and got jumped by this guy too -- he didn't last long and dropped NO DROP bag -- Bag of Polished Jade or something like that.

Pirates of Pines is from Jagged Pine zone so I now know where the quest this is used for is from. Now to just go there and find the quest ;)

# May 25 2002 at 2:00 PM Rating: Default
This place is awesome. Most rooms can be easily broke if you are searching for any item. For me i am a warrior lvl 32 i have close to a full suit of crusty a centi warhammer, centi ss and i have a couger claw earing, and orc fang earing. I have a bracer of the scaveging to jagged bands ummm and an antlered mask and spider fur collar i am not twinked this is my main and as far as i see it this place is easy to walk around and solo. Most con green. The only room that i have had trouble breaking is the scryers room. That place is so damn unsafe it puts the perma back in Permanent CR lol. You die there you will need an invis and a caster at least to nuke some of the maggi using gobs. Other than that most rooms are very easy to break because the spawn time is a long one. So far i spent 3 hours in here and only got 1 pair of Mammoth Hide Leggings, was going for cloak but i am going back tonight and hopefully can get it. Along with the preacher i had the preacher room camped for 2 hours room respawned 3 times and no preacher pop if anyone knows the pop time on her lemme know please PST to

what IG drops this item and what is spawn rate on the IG's
RE: block of perma frost
# Jul 30 2002 at 7:55 AM Rating: Decent
Drops from random IG's just passed the giant doors near where the Sage, Elites and King spawn.

You'll need some healing backup to help but it can be done with a small group.

3 58th levels hit here -- 1 warrior, 2 druids -- took about 15 IG's -- some of them casters -- to get one to drop.

WARNING: The caster IG's are almost 100% MR so be prepared for a fun fight followed by a small chase and you will aggro the green goblins as you chase the giants down.

Again, it's not that hard to do. Just setup outside the door and pull to group there. Keep area around you clear and just keep dropping the giants as quickly as they spawn / you can.
