Home to the ice dragon herself, Lady Vox, Permafrost Keep is one of the most dangerous dungeons on Antonica. With hidden traps, a maze of caverns, giants and goblins at every turn... there are countless ways you could meet an icy grave here in Permafrost.

The Archo is easy to kill its just having to put up with trains. To solve that all you have to do is invis untill you reach that room off to the right of the archo room with the well. Just pull all the Gobs from the archo room there when archo room is cleared the rest is easy just wait for spawns and kill. Timed the spawn on arch and its like a 25 min wait for him plus he has a PH heh. But other then that its easy to get the bag and he drops it everytime.

You should be able to, with care, solo the Archeologists and Preachers spawns without a problem. I had a tough time trying to get to the Alchemist at 32, mind you I'm a Ranger heh. But you might have more luck than me ;)

At 32 there are a few places where you could solo, most notably the goblin alchemist. His common drop is an ok set of leggings, rare drop is a very nice 4wis cloak ) If you're on Quellious, forget all this - you can't solo there. > P

Mammoth hide legging/clock. Lowest level to solo?
# Mar 17 2001 at 1:31 AM Rating: Decent
Hello. I'm a 28lv druid wanting a nice set of mammoth hide leggings and cloak. Would it be too tuff to camp the Goblin Alchemist by myself? If not, what is the level you recommend I come back?
RE: Mammoth hide legging/clock. Lowest level to solo?
# Apr 29 2001 at 5:37 AM Rating: Default
Speaking as a 30 druid who's done it for some time now, I'd advise you to wait until level 29. Better yet, 30 - for your specializations. Most likely could be done at 29 fairly easily though. The main reason is that a few of the alchemist's ph's can heal themselves - this is very frustrating with combust. Imagine using all of your mana on a low green! With careless lightning you'd have to be extremely lucky to get one of these healers down without going oom and without him healing himself. Need I mention that whirling wind and dizzying wind (the two stun effect spells that we druids have) don't work indoors? :) at 29 you'll have a much easier time of it, and will most likely avoid that annoying dungeon cr.

Hello everyone, I am a lvl 37 Troll Warrior, and I was wondering if I could solo the Arch, Preach, Alch, or Scry. Or would the green mobs all jump me... Anyinfo you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

I am a level 37 monk and I soloed the Arch no problem. The other gobs will only agro you about one out of every six or so. I would stay out of the king room though--unless someone has broken the spawn there can be any number of /con blue at the back wall.

Expect the greenies to agro you along the way. I have been able to solo Permafrost from the entrance to the king room at level 41 and im a ranger =) Even solo'd the King himself, but it was a close battle, but I was getting agro'd here and there, but they don't take long to kill.
Frost Charms

These drop off the Goblin Patriarchs, yes? And they're for the Crafted Boots warrior quest. I'm going to Permafrost to go get these, and I was wondering if myself (23 warrior) and three friends (22 warrior, 25 mage, 27 rogue) could manage to kill the Patriarch.
RE: Frost Charms
# Nov 14 2000 at 2:08 PM Rating: Default
Most likely not. Though you MIGHT get lucky and be able to take him, the chances that you'd be able to fight the Patriarch alone are pretty slim. You'll end up getting swarmed by far too many others (including several casters) and that would be the end. A good high 20's group should be able to do it, though.

Even high 20's they will get agro'd. Mid 30's *should* be able to grab singles providing the Patriarch, Honor Guard, and King arent up at the same time.
A missing Spawn?
# Sep 27 2000 at 12:04 AM Rating: Default
I have been lurking in Permafrost for quite sometime. I am only lvl 26 and have been fighting in it since lvl 20. I'm still solo'ing the hallway and finally the flag room! But I have been reading every post on Permafrost as to one day with the hopes to fight Lady Vox herself. But I have been to several other sites and have seen mention of an "injured polar bear" being another spawn in Permafrost. I have never seen it on my tracker yet (Ive seen Vox on it) and was just curious if any has actually seen this bear.

I have, its way back in permafrost. If I remember right he is under Vox's lair where the high level spiders and such are at.

Probably too far for someone your level to track him with all the other goblins.

# Sep 13 2000 at 11:38 AM Rating: Default
I'm a 40th level warrior about ready to head to Permafrost... why you may ask? cause I need the damned totem for my crafted boots, tired of wearing these charred pieces of junk and everyone always wants to so much for the boots that I rather spend the time and do the quest myself. Anyway, I have been talking to a friend that has been able to succesfully solo many of the rooms from 40th to 42nd so I am hoping I am able to do the same (although he is a wizard). All I want to be able to do is get to the king room without all the green trash agroing on me all the way there so I can clear out the room and start collecting the goodies while waiting for a totem to drop. Hopefully I will be able to let you all know how it goes after tonight.

I came across several of these and had to leave them (non-stackable, looked heavy).

I'd recommend (based on my findings) a total slaughter of the zone. I didn't find them on any one creature - just the creature here, creature there type thing.

So get a couple high level necros and just slag the zone. You should get some that way - but it would still take some heavy time.

# Nov 14 2000 at 11:53 PM Rating: Default
The High Quality Ore is used for various blacksmithing stuff.
There are a ton of new and updated things you can make.
There are all the class specific armor, and all the new
weapons and all you can make. I am not sure which ones
it will make, but I am sure there are several things.

Just like the Ice Goblin Blood is used for something in the
new armor.

Perma is boring
# Jul 26 2000 at 11:44 AM Rating: Default
Perma is really boring. Figures one of the two wisdom increasing cloaks known about in game right now and its a rare drop off a rare spawn with like an 18 minute respawn. I was successfully killing the king room and alchemist room at the same time. And I was STILL bored off my *** trying for the cloak. They need a naked goblin streaking by with horns and stuff, maybe in a clown outfit because this atmosphere is really boring.

The mobs dont even friggin move cept the 43 to 47 ones down by vox. Cmon verant create some excitement here... no wonder the only reasons people come here are to kill vox, camp cloak, or farm items for a twink. Very rarely will you see people here for exp. Exceptions being lvl 16 to 20 people at entrance killin the crap gobs or a group around lvl 30 doin the king room.

Oh well, I got a white wolfhide cloak doin that... got me some decent cash for it... think items were worth 1.5k or so. I woulda been happy to trade for mammoth cloak, but no one trades those. Its so often camped by lvl 30 to 50 people who need the cloak that noone farms them. In my opinion if yer able to kill the alchmist very easy the cloak should at least be a one in four drop.

Oh well, lookin forward to seeing a streaking goblin soon, back to everlevel and try to get 44 for my new pet and blast spell woot!

It seems to me that if you think a zone is boring than you are to high a level to be in it. Try doing those spawns with a lower level char or group and test your abilities rather than just camping it to get an easy item or cash for you high level character.
RE: Perma is boring
# Mar 23 2001 at 10:35 PM Rating: Default
Agreed! Perma is damn boring! but hey I go there to eat dinner, chill out and hopefully get a spawn. So unless u have a plan like that I would never go in there for loot sake. Of course both of us are way over the lvl for the spawns we are camping. I think a group of 20ishs would enjoy this if they could get to the spawns..to many greens in the way IMHO. Anyway I agree with your statement above.

Perma isnt really boring..and people do camp the cloak as far as farming purposes. I usually hunt in perma in the early morning. I usually have the zone all to myself and i can solo all the camps in one mana pool. I have found it to be alot of fun and very profitable. If you do all the camps..you have about 5 min of downtime while you med to full and wait for the Alchemist. I usually bind in the Alchemist room. Gate in...kill him or his ph, then head off to the scryer room, then king room. Both of these goblins can be dotted and then off i gate back to the alchemist room to avoid any nasty healing jobs on the intended mob. After these two are done...i jet to preacher/archeo area and finish off those two. I figure in about a week of doing this in the morning for about 4 or 5 hours....i have accumulated about 15k worth of stuff. Very profitable indeed.

I think if you sit in one spot and farm it, it is pretty boring.
I've been scoping the place out for a little bit, and it you like
to sit in one spot, it is pretty crappy. I, though, am interested
in "doing" the dungeon. I want to run down the halls and
fight whatever I come across. At least I dont' have to worry
about respawns behind me. It seems like a great dungeon
to explore with just 6 of you.

This is, by far, my favorite zone in the game. Spent all my play time over a 4 day period camping the Alchemist for a Mammoth Hide Cloak for my main character (much easier to do this, and any other zone, with a Magician than it is a Cleric) and in between the excrutiatingly long spawns me and Jobeker, Jobekn, Varn, Kabeker or whatever he was named at the time would wander off and explore this place as much as I could. It's like a giant maze with with Goblins and some good loot =D. In the end, I walked out with a WolfHide Cloak, Symbol of Loyalty to Vox, Silvery 2 Handed Axe, Cold Iron Morningstar, 3 Runed Circlets, 5 pairs of Mammoth Hide leggings and a Mammoth Hide Cloak. Im going to be going back soon and farm it a bit more, the newbies really appreciate the gifts =)

P.S: Had to take a few days off from this place. Was there for so long that by the time I was done, whenever I would close my eyes all I would see are hundreds, and hundreds of Goblin Butt cracks floating around, calling my name ..... <shivers>
Why the swarm
# Jul 02 2000 at 8:24 AM Rating: Decent
How is it that lvl 20's can go to perma and solo even? I step a few feet in and I am swarmed by con greens. I am lvl 39. This just doesn't seem right.
Faction change
# Jul 02 2000 at 2:33 AM Rating: Decent
My guild raided perma earlier tonight, and i noticed that the monsters here no longer give positive faction for the Ring of Scale. RoS is the dragon rulers of Veeshan's Peak in Kunark, easily the hardest zone in the game (1 entance, 1 exit, approx 5 dragons between the two, as well as 100+ level 50+ frogloks)
Permafrost at 35
# Jun 20 2000 at 1:45 PM Rating: Decent
I am a lvl 35 ranger atm. I decided to go to Perma to check it out. (Mostly looking for a Dented Brass Mask and Etched Ivory Charm.) This is what I've found I can do solo: Camp the Alchemist, the Archeologist, and the Preacher. The Preacher still gives a little bit of exp even though he's green =). When running between the Preacher/Archeologist area and the Alchemist cave, the only Gobs that aggro on me are the ones at the big gate, and some Ice Goblin Evokers. The Archeologist is easy if you sit behind the "hill" where he spawns in the little cave type thing. He will pull single with a ranged attack. The Jailkeeper (Etched Ivory Charm) is too tough for me to solo. He spawns in a room with 6 goblins in it. Too many greens for me. I could probably camp the Scryer too, but haven't due to the location of his room and the items he drops. With a full group of about the same level the King area is a great place to hunt. Anyway, I now have an Archeologist Pack, a Dented Brass Mask, 6 Runed Circlets (the Preacher seems to be the most common rare spawn) a Cold Iron Morningstar, and Mammoth Hide Leggings (Alchemist does not like to give up his cloak =(.) I hope at lvl 40 or so to come back and camp the Jailkeeper (though I still have yet to even track him) Oh well, back to leveling for me =) It's a fun zone and has some nice drops for such low level mobs. btw I play on Tarew Marr and the most ppl I have ever seen in the zone (Prime Time on Sunday) was around 13. So on off peak hours it's very easy to pick a camp and get some stuff. Hope this helps someone out there.
Faction
# Jun 05 2000 at 2:48 PM Rating: Decent
MoBs in this dungeon no longer give increased faction with the ring of scale - after the expansion was released, the ring of scale was assigned to various creatures (such as some dragons) in kunark, and everybody's faction was reset, so even if you increased it a lot pre-expansion, you will still be kos. I don't know if there is any way to raise it now, but I know you cannot raise it in perma.

I'm guessing you would camp the ice giants. Did you overlook the fact that loot absolutely sucks. Unless u want to kill vox in a huge raid, 50s never step foot in here.
nec icy goblin book
# May 19 2000 at 1:34 PM Rating: Decent
the icy goblin spawns in the center room of what i believe is considered "the jailers hall" , find the 1st large iron gate, open it and follow straight, when the hall opens up youll have a few choices of directions, go to your right, youll see a door with usually 2 gobs standing beside it, open it go through and hug right hand wall, youll come to a fairly large room, go up the elevation youll see a hall with a wolf's head on the wall, your fairly safe to sit infront of doors to med uninvised, he spawns in the center room, its a tough spawn to break and he doesnt spawn every time, Nor does he drop the book every time. had quite a few deaths breaking his spawn, never got the book either. =( Good Luck, if your on bristlebane look me up.
