Najena, a dungeon located in the southeast part of the Lavastorm Mountains, is named after one of the more notable magicians of Antonica.

You'll need to pick up various keys to get around this place:

- Guard's Keyring (dropped by ogre guards and Moosh) opens prison cells.
- Shiny Metal Key (dropped by the Guard Captain) opens the first cell leading to Rathyl.
- Dull Bone Key (dropped by BoneCracker) opens Rathyl's cell.
- Bloodstained Key (dropped by Rathyl & Drelzna) opens Drelzna's room
- Golden Crescent Key (dropped by Drelzna and Najena) opens Najena's room.

Went here with my level 24 cleric and keeled some things near the entrance fer a level or two, then came back ar about level 32 and camped Najena with a bud for a few hours. Got decent experience for what I was doing, but if you want a better place for experience (my opinion) upper guk is nice. My bro went from 30-40 back in the AC room. Hope this helps a tad.

FBR Drops off Najena, the "boss" mob of the zone. She is pretty much the meanest mob in the zone about level 30? or maybe a little higher. You have to go through the network of keys to get to her, including Bonecracker, Rathyl, Drelzna, and one other which I can't recall. The "higher" keys are no rent.

The only harder mob in the zone is the Widowmistress, but Najena shouldn't be to bad to a decent group of appropriate level.

Kinda...
... Najena is pullable through the door..

I've done it so I know. The way I did it is strink 2 times (as a barbie), then run to the door and sit and stand to see through it (mip mapping i think its called is messed slightly) then /targ Najena ... I cast poison storm on her and that seemed to not worry about the wall in the way...

/shrug, maybe that helps you.

can't cast through doors.. not anymore, BUT if a lvl 55 RNG can pull her through the door just by walking up to it, then anyone can by sitting near the door (so long as your faction sucks with her). This IMO is the EZest way to get they key to the room.

A Skeleton - Part Of The Ghoulbane Quest

I noticed that the creature named simply, "a skeleton", is not at the time of this writing included in the bestiary. These skeletons are MOBs well known to paladins doing the Ghoulbane quest, as they drop the Noblemans Hilt, a needed component. I have yet to determine the level of these skeletons; they hit for up to 60 HPs and are blue to me at level 29, so I judged them to be around 27 or 28, but they are actually closer to 23 to 25. In additional to the less frequent noblemans hilt, they drop small ringmail and a few platinum on the nicer drops or cloth sandals and a few gold on the chincy drops. They seem to be warriors and cast no spells, but they may have a damage shield cast upon them by one of the nearby magicians. Upon slaying them, the only faction adjustment is the lowering of Najena faction.

It should be noted that there are 2 (possibly 3) spawn points for "a skeleton". The skeletons are on a 10 minute spawn cycle. They are also quite aggressive so, if you are in the room with them, be ready for the attack. With that said I camped the skeleton normally referred to as skelly #1 for 4 hours a day, 7 days straight. It never dropped the Hilt of the Nobleman. Frustrated, I moved on the skelly #2. To find him follow the path through the tentacle terror room (where you see an entrance marked Najena). From here the path briefly turns south, east, north, then east into a wider room. Go through this room. As soon as you do there will be a corridor to the north. Take this. Usually there will be an ogre guard here, standing at the top of a short stairway along the right - hand wall. Normally as soon as you enter here the skelly will charge up the stairs at you. He spawns on the opposite side of the room. This is skelly #2, who dropped the Hilt for me on the 2nd pull.

These ****'s are tough for their level - which is usually 25. As a soloing paladin at level 25 I could barely kill them -- and I had a sporali defender's blade and continually used ward undead (a must). If I got an add from a wandering magician, ogre guard, or spider I was dead meat (and its a long run from Freeport).

Best spot to pull three of the four "a skeleton" mobs is right next to the pool after you go down the stairs - only had one death here from the one wandering mob that showed up (a spider). If you pull right under the stairs I found I was getting more adds (and deaths).

The root and ward undead tactic is difficult to do here. The skeletons have a large aggro range so when you see them they see you and move to the attack. Even when I could root them I usually got off only three ward undead's max before root broke.

The exp is excellent -- went through level 25 just killing these things and also collected about 120 pp in loot and coin -- and the fights are fierce. Every fight I wasn't sure if I would die or not.

My advice to you - if doing this quest bring a friend or two or get some buffs from the high levels that sometimes frequent this zone.

I agree, I would be pretty upset if I tried to do a transfer like that and someone picked it up... but, on the few occasions when I actually have done that, I knew the risk involved, and didnt drop any really valuable items. Seems to me, if someone drops stuff on the ground and then logs out, its pretty much fair game for anyone who finds it.
If you want to transfer safely, give the stuff to a friend to hold.

A new type of skeleton is found in Najena now. It's about LVL 30 and is just labeled "a skeleton". It rarely drops the hilt of the nobleman for the Ghoulbane quest. They're deceivingly hard hitters and have quite a few hp. Watch out, they have a large aggro range too. Good luck, This is one fun zone.

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Najena
# Oct 30 2001 at 4:36 PM Rating: Excellent
Ok people, listen up: here's the lowdown on this zone. All this information is correct as of 10-30-01. Don't whine if something I say conflicts a post your best friend's brother's cousin saw on some unmoderated EQ board somewhere. Enjoy.

The zone in general:
Nice little zone with some decent little drops.
The architecture is fairly interesting, and it's one of the few zones that I think really seems like a dungeon. The norent keys are kind of a pain, but hey, you've got to live with it. On older servers this place will be empty with the exception of the occassional mage searching for quest items, paladins looking for the Ghoulbane hilt, the occasional lowbie actually fighting for exp, and then people like me camping the entire zone all at once just for the heck of it.

The two worst parts about this zone:
-The Widowmistress

-The amazing ability level 12 mobs have to nuke a person 40 levels above them for full damage. Ever fought in Mistmoore? Good. Now you know how annoying this really is.

The Keys:
Key #1 is the Guard's Keyring. Any ogre you see has a good chance of dropping one. You fall into the jail cell with the injured halfling and Linara Parlone, this is how you get out. You fall in without this key, well, there's a big hole in the cell. :p Moosh also drops this. It looks like a large white key.

Key #2 is the Shiny Metal Key. You get this by rampaging about downstairs until you kill the guard captain. Looks like a dull colored grey key. It opens the first door to Rathyl's room, also known as the door across from the jail cell from key #1's description.

Key #3 is off Bonecracker. It's shaped like a skull key. It's also useless. Why? All it does is open Rathyl's second door, and any idiot can pull him through the bars without needing to enter his room. Well, I suppose it's not quite so useless if you manage to get trapped in Rathyl's room. Rather convenient that he drops it and key #4 too, huh?

Key #4 is...ah heck I forget the name. Use key #2, murder Rathyl and his Incarnate, and get this one. It's the first NORENT key of the dungeon. It's a light blue key. This lets you in to visit with Drelzna.

Key #5 is the magic key. It's called the Golden Crescent key, and should you need to ask why, it's big and golden. Drelzna drops this along with Key #3, the one that gets you in to her room. This one is NORENT as well. Najena drops this key as well if you happen to get stuck in her room.

When you've collected all the keys, camped the zone to your heart's content, you're getting ready to leave, and realize that you're the only person in the zone, do other people a favor. Hand all the keys to some greenie mob. They'll keep the NORENT keys all safe and sound and help out the next guy who comes in searching for them. You'll be doing yourself a favor too: chances are that if you're on an older server like I am, and you log on the next day and think "Gee, I think I want to go camp Najena some more," the keys will still be there waiting on you.

Named Mobs:
Once you kill them all for the keys and get their spawn cycles going, you'll be seeing lots of all of them, except Najena. She doesn't like to visit her dungeon much. I told her some japanese lanterns would make the place more bright and cheerful, but she didn't want to listen to me. Go figure.

Illia's has most of the drops and mob info correct. Here are my additions:

The magicians drop focus items rarely and the torn pages rarely. Any magicians in the zone, including goblin magicians, can drop them. The goblins also randomly drop nice-looking (but fairly useless) Stone armor pieces. Fun for giving yourself a new look on the inventory screen...

The skeletons for the Ghoulbane quest are typically found in the area around the water pool, spider rooms, and goblin areas. They seem like they'd be a real pain for a lowbie group, and seem to be there only as yet another deterrent (in addition to the Widowmistress and the amazing *****-your-resists-i'll-nuke-you-anyway casters) to lowbie groups. They're called simply "a skeleton," they're always standing up, they have a large aggro range, and will aggro on anyone no matter what level they are. They typically drop small ringmail and bronze or fine steel weapons, though, so they're not a total loss. The hilt drops about 50% of the time in my experience.

Drelzna drops the Stiletto as well, it's just really rare. The ashenwood spear is extremely rare. And YES, she can be a pain in the butt and Harm Touch MORE THAN ONCE during a battle. Her opening HT is usually 251, and she has HT'd me after that for really weird amounts such as 101 and 151. Don't scream your lungs off and cite the fact that PC Shadowknights can't do that. She's an NPC, lots of caster NPCs have somewhat...funky...code, and they can do weird things that PC's can't. Live with it, and prepare to probably take more than one Harm Touch while fighting her.

The guard captain drops the Ogre War Maul rarely.

Rathyl and Rathyl's Incarnate have the same loot tables. Either one can drop the Traveller's Pouch, Traveller's Pack (which has recently become NODROP, boo), or Hollowed Bone Bracers. Only Rathyl drops the keys, though.

Ekeros can drop the mage focus items. (Presumably because he spawns in place of one of the magicians sometimes.)

The Widowmistress drops...whoever she's fighting, usually. I saw the Widow straight outmelee a 53 monk, who would have died had I not been there to heal her and get in a (very) few well-timed stuns. This lady is mean and fairly magic resistant. I can't tell you about poison, cold, disease, or fire resistant, because hey, I'm a paladin and I don't get those spells (and I didn't have Flame of Light last time I saw her). She's the only thing I'm afraid of in this entire dungeon. Give her a wide berth should you see her.

Najena...well she's a rather xenophobic person. She's a random rare spawn. I say that because she can always pop 5 times in a row, or never show up for a couple days. Her drops are correct, but she really doesn't like to part with the Black Tome with Silver Runes. Chances are you'll get plenty of robes before you see the book.

The wrap up:
I've told you everything you need to know. Watch out around Drelzna's room, Moosh and the Tentacle Terror downstairs have a tendancy to aggro through the floor sometimes.

What else is there to tell you about this place? Not much. I'm a 52 paladin and I can solo all the mages and all the named spawn spots in a circuit and still have time to med and heal up to a respectable point before doing it all again. If you're trying to solo the place like I am, be smart about pulling the casters. Three level 16 mages can actually be a threat to someone if they're all nuking you for 90 apiece every 4 seconds, or hitting you with that blasted Shock of whatever spell (you have been lacerated) that bounces you around and interrupts your casting.

Just a few things i noticed after reading these posts, Rathyl does still drop the key to drelzna's room, the elementals are just place holders. The visiting priestess has faction with my god innoruk, I found to my dismay. She aggor'd me as I fought the ogre captain. She wasnt holding anything. I was killing najena to get the tome with silver runes, after 3 days Najena popped maybe 20 times and always the fbr. gave up and brought a spirit tome. I also killed the widow mistress for fun, had to run the first time, she caught me by surprize, she is nasty.
