At the base of the Direwind Cliffs are deep valleys infested with death and disease. Of the griffons, bears, and wolves that are still alive, most are infected with some sort of illness, perhaps brought on by the Darkroot sporali which are now rampant in the area and feeding off the corpses of the deceased.

Direwind is also home to a clan of gnolls. And as evidenced by the ratkin and ratcallers among their ranks, they too have not escaped the diseases at work here.

The forces of Dyn`leth are abundant in the area, as they man the watch towers along the mountain cliffs. The Gray Legion occupies a valley in the southeast while the Black Legion resides in several camps just outside the passage to Ashengate. They all have one thing in mind: Protect the Reliquary of the Scale.

The cliffs themselves make for a steep trek. One must be careful while ascending the mountains, as one false step will lead to certain death in the canyons below. The dark and gloomy Direwind Cliffs are a far cry from the Sunderock Springs which lie to their south.

Ghostfeather is a named griffon that can be found in the nests atop the hill right next to the druid ring, past the raoming griffons on the ground there. You can see him up there while standing at the teleport spot at the ring.

Was red to 71, had a few hits in the upper 3000s on a warrior with 3000+ AC. Small radius AE rampage it seemed. Quite a few hp but not outrageous for a group to kill.

Not sure what he is for, but only drops were 3 Ghostfeather Talons each of the two times we killed him. He was up again after abotu 2 hours from the first kill, but can't recall if one of the zone crash/resets was between there or not.

Another named in Direwind Cliffs.

Koda, red to lvl 73, bear east of the ruined druid ring
dropped 3 koda paws, so the two mobs could be quest related.
