Lake Rathetear separates the Mountains of Rathe from the Southern Plains of Karana.
Around the lake are several areas of interest: Some vendor outposts, a fishing village,
as well as established camps of orcs, gnolls, aviaks, and ogres.

In the depths of Lake Rathetear you will find some of the more dangerous inhabitants.
Among them, the dark elf, Deep, and Lord Bergurgle of the aqua goblins.

Monster myths...

...are just that. According to my guide contact, the Kraken flatly DOES NOT EXIST. Quote, "We just laugh when people petition to ask about it". HOWEVER, my guide friend had no comment about the Megalodon...said he had never heard about it, so it MIGHT still be swimming around out there someplace...but personally, I doubt it. I know the rumor of a giant shark in Lake Rathe is at least as old as the retail release, but I also know that people have tended to talk out their butts about what went on during beta, and all sorts of trash gets talked all the time by brats who just want attention. Rumors are just that, rumors. When valid proof shows up, then I'll believe it. Nuff said.

I have no idea?

the Kraken

Many, many months ago (at least 6) I saw a gathering of level 50's in Greater Faydark that were getting ready for a trip to the planes. On one of the level 50 ogre warriors there, he had 2 interesting items on him. One was a shield that looked like the Shield of the Stalwart Seas (for those of you who've never seen it, it looks like a giant ribcage strapped to the character's arm), and a whip. When I looked at the ogre, I checked the name of the whip and it was something to the effect of "A tentacle of a Kraken" or something like that. I'll have to look at the screenshot I have of it and see if I can tell the ogre's name. Perhaps this ogre can lead us to the key we are looking for as to what this kraken looks like and what he drops. More to come in the future...

The kraken DOES stil exist. they say he was taken out in beta but a few weeks ago he was spotted in lake rathe. I hang out there because no one seems to know it, but if you group at gnolls its GREAT exp at 10. thats because it has a huge spawn rate, nearby bindable area (get back faster when die) al con black/blue, some one is always there camping the hard ones. so im there quite a bit and have heard a shout "what is a kraken? i tracked it" then several people shouted where? and then a bunch of people wanted to kill it some said there guild was coming. i dot knowq what happened to it, maybe it killed everyone who faught it cause no one said "i killed the kraken!". pretty interesting even though i didnt see the beast.
kraken and what not

I swear i saw him today, or else a huge fish. I was in the view between above water and underwater where you can see clearly very far and i believe i saw him swimming next to the middle island with the big tower on it.

I have heard a lot about Krakken. I am on a hunt in Rathetear to get a screenshot at any cost
What about the Krakkin....?
# Mar 20 2000 at 1:04 AM Rating: Decent
I've heard legend of there being some sort of GIGANTIC creature that lives in the water in Lake Rathetear... called the Krakkin. Now, if this krakkin is anything like the krakkin in Clash of the TItans.... I REALLY dont' want to swim in Lake Rathetear anymore!!

Royal Fish
# Mar 09 2000 at 8:27 AM Rating: Decent
She IS infact Princess Lenya. This is the newly changed quest from one that use to take place in Highhold Keep. It envolves you getting a special fish food and giving it to the fish to reveal it's true form and freeing her from the curse of being turned into a fish. Being that she is the High Elf Princess, killing her is very very bad mojo, unless you're of a evil affiliation.

The other night I was swimming in Rathetear when I stared tracking
a "royal fish". I swam up to it, it was the size of a regular trout but
was blue to me at 25th. I assume it must be for some quest or
something.

Murkwave casts wizard spells, so if he's a shaman then he's duel classed. He loves to cast some Force Shock type spell. Saw him take down one guy in 2 of those spells.

Royal Fish
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
The "Royal Fish" in the above posts is none other than Lenya Thex, princess of the High Elf city of Felwithe. She usually starts out in the form of a large fish, I believe, but if attacked will display her true form. There is a bug where she will flood the zone with shouts of being free at last, etc. Usually best to find an evil character without faction restrictions to put and end to it )
murkwave webclaw
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
murkwave webclaw is a goblin shaman (maybe a leftover from aqua goblin era) that spawns at base of ramp on island called bird 3... if not killd there he eventually starts roaming .... usually is around lvl 25... when killed drops the water crystal staff
