Befallen was once the site of a wonderful temple, a reclusive home for the monks who maintained it.

Many blame the dark elves for what it has become, but whatever the cause, Befallen is now a home to the undead its inhabitants used to hunt and destroy. Individuals who thrive on these beings have also taken up residence in its halls, necromancers and shadow knights.

Various keys are (were) obtained and required to move to the lower levels of this zone.

No DE faction, only Befallen residents crap, which, you dont need to care.
RE: Faction

The only faction I have seen here is BefallenResidents. So it should not ***** up your faction. If you kill a DE though and you see any faction from Neriak, then don't attack the DE's anymore. One hit should not make much difference, and you can make up your faction with the guards by killing halflings in Nektulos. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Best dungeon xp for lvl

This place is great for a lvl 14 to 17 group. You most have 6 people in your group or this will not work. I also suggest at least one cleric if not 2. You go to the door to the 3rd floor. First you kill the necro and pet this may take a sec because shes or he I forget is strong for thier lvl. After killing the necro get get your tank( ranger or if you have a lvl 17 monk to pull from the 3rd floor. Make sure you wait and kill the necro before this because if you dont you will have to run. Make sure you have the 3rd key to( its droped by the sk on the 2nd floor and 3rd if for some reason you get locked down on the 3rd floor) Ok heres what happens I like the ranger because the monks feign death is only useful in this dungeon for small groups and this spot it kind of wasted the solid xp) the ranger goes in to the first room. There should be a zombie and a ghoul mabey 2. Use your bow and arrow to hit one of the ghouls. No run back to the door also make sure you have the key. Open it and get rdy for about 5 to 7 mobs. They should be all blue or green so dont worry to much just use the stratgy that works best for you( we had me the paladin and my friend the monk tank while our mage druid and 2 clerics blasted the monsters and heal us) Also if you get a mage or necro you get another tank so Id prefer one of them. Now the fight should last about 5 mins if you all have good health and ok mana pull again if not med and wait for the necro then repeat. Its great xp and I got a lot of damask armor and bronze weapons. Just one other note if you pull something a little big DONT RUN.. The reason for this is because if you run you have little chance of making it and you always have the chance to live and kill the mobs. The only time I say run is when you pull your mobs and have the necro and his pet spawn on you. Make sure the people with keys are rdy to open the door because the worst thing to happen is to be trapped behind a door with 7 mobs hitting you because your keyholder cant open the door or he forgot.
Befallen Rundown

I spent a bit of time in the dungeon hunting more or less because it doesn't seem to be as crowded and camped as other zones (with the exception of the caves on 3rd level). But if you are 10-20th level this is an excellent place to hunt, especially classes with anti-undead spells. (As long as you keep your keys handy =)
Generally speaking if you can carve out a niche on the second level (or 3rd lvl for 15-20), either in the rooms or out in the hall leading up to 1st level (and pull out of rooms) a good group can do well. A vast majority of the mobs spawn on 20 min. intervals, (including the key-dropping SK's) so if someone keeps time, and you keep a good frequency of pulls, you can really clean up on xp here.
I suppose this isn't revelatory stuff, but I thought I would encourage anyone who might be thinking on spending some time here. For what it's worth, hope it helps.

P.S. Avoid the pit trap in the 2nd Key SK room by moving left immediately upon entering the door. Keep it in mind when fighting her too! )

Another quick way to find Befallen is to go from the front of the Tunnel that leads to North Ro and staying in the Desert area outside of it go Directly west and then zone. After Zoning into West Commonlands keep heading west in that strip of desert. Eventually you will reach a large dune with a door shaped tunnel going straight into Befallen. Go into the tunnel and follow it and your will enter Befallen. Be sure to have cure disease because the plauge rats can be ery annoying when they bite you and you get diseased. Safe Journeys.

RE: Just what does it take to get a group in here?
# May 01 2001 at 1:56 PM Rating: Decent
All it takes to get a group in any mid-level dungeon is the ability to find a few people with guts. Unfortunately, most people are sheep and end up flocking to Oasis and the Lake of Ill Omen in search of safe hunting, mediocre treasure and so-so exp. Many of them have no idea that a well played group can make more money and get more experience in a dungeon and do it without any more danger (probably less) than in the zones mentioned above. That's why places like Upper Guk, Najena, Befallen, Sol A, etc. are empty.

You should get a group together to come here. Most people can't just hang out in this zone and wait for a group and those that can probably aren't looking for a group, so get up some people in the commons to come to befallen with you.

GIX n Dragoon
# Aug 24 2000 at 4:50 PM Rating: Decent
Had a 30th warrior camping Gynok in befallen, I as a lvl 39 druid killed Gix and Dragoon repeatdly..and the only thing that spawned in Befallen were those mean Ghouls every 16 minutes. I killed them in reverse orders, killed them slow, killed them fast, made rude gestures and that still did not pop Gynok. I believe that rumor has been laid to rest.

Thanks

Ok, all you kiddies settle down, here's the sh*t on Gynok Moltor:
1. He is level 24ish. He's a mummy. Rabies. Gives us some crap on disturbing his rest when aggroed.
2. He spawns RIGHT AT the entrance to Befallen. Not on third floor. Not on second floor. Nowhere else on first BUT the entrance. After spawning he will wander. Through all the doors all the way to third floor, then back.
3. He has PH's. I've seen Giant Rats, Plague Rats, Ice Bone Skels, Greater Skels, Normal Skels, Putrid Skels, & I dont know if there's more. You can spot the PH since it'll shout to the zone about disturbing its rest when aggroed..the PHs also wander. Same path. Best to just build a fire & camp at the entrance, its the best spot.
4. He drops the Platinum Ring. It's got some +1 stat and a -1 CHA stat. This is for the Paw of Opolla. You put it into the Paw of Opolla quest box, with the Copper, Silver, and Gold rings. Give this to..someone. =) Sorry
5. Gynok does not drop the Gold Ring. He will drop a Gold Ring, but its the same gold ring that shin knights, mistmoore castle trash, and kedge keep fishies drop. Its just for the selling.
6. There is no method to get him to spawn other than killing the PH. I dont give a damn what happened to you, PH is the only way.
7. I definitely need a vacation from this game.
Any other questions, comments, or flames may be directed to my adress, ArchMahgi@aol.com, where they will be summarily ignored. Thank you.

Gynok spawns on the 3rd floor when you give the note from Kizdean Gix (WC) to the skeleton Lrodd (1st flr).

No, that's Cmdr. Windstream that spawns when you give Lrodd the note. Gynok Moltor is part of a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT quest, why would he spawn when you turn in a component of the Thex Mallet quest?!?! Geez...freakin' newbies...

actually the Thex Mallet is an excellent quest, for a Shadowknight......it yields a very nice weapon, Reaper of the Dead.
Also, Elf Skeleton lvls are way wrong.....they are high green to blue to my 26 druid. that would make them 21-22.

Look before you leap
# Mar 24 2001 at 8:10 PM Rating: Default
It's virtually impossible to accidentally fall into that well - I think it was meant as a shortcut for high levels who don't want to camp the SK and as a form of natural selection to keep the idiot/twink population down in Befallen. ;)

spawn points
# Jun 08 2000 at 10:17 AM Rating: Decent
when you fall down the well to the third floor, there are 2 rooms on either side. on the left side spawns the troll SK with the BBC and on the right side spawns the priest amiaz and the thaumaturgist. and all the SK harm touch. it just depends how much dmg you to them first. i have been HT by all the SK when i didnt do alot of dmg the first time. and the DE female SK spawns in the hallway leading from the room where that gnome necro bobbin something or rather spawns to another room.

I'm not entirely sure I follow your content regarding shadowknights. I'll just go over the basics again in case you're missing it.

1)Harm Touch is a class based skill which all shd start with (gained at level 1.)

2)All shd mobs have the ability to HT.

3)It is completely random as to when a shd mob will use HT (if at all) although most old world mobs will immediately use it off the pull.

4)HT deals current level * 10 + 1 damage.

5)HT is resisted by armor class and level, unlike most spells.

About the timing of the use... a friend of mine pointed out to me that in OS they will wait to use it when they are in trouble, when they build up a lot of hate for one enemy, or when one of their opponents is low on health - very, very nasty. He lost an ench that way before he even realized the aoe mez wore off, once... synchronized HTing, anyone? No? How about roast erudite? X.x;;

Gynok spawns next to zone,a timed spawn, and when you here teh "disturbing its rest" thing that means one of his placeholders was attacked.
Gynok's gold ring
# May 22 2000 at 3:17 PM Rating: Decent
I got a gold ring off Gynok on 5/21/2000. In fact, I walked into the zone, and there he was. I killed him, and there was a gold ring.

I don't know if this has changed since the Paw quest has changed, or if I was just extremely lucky (aside from being lucky not having to wait for Gynok).
Amiaz and SKs
# May 19 2000 at 11:30 AM Rating: Decent
Amiaz spawns down the well near the Thaumaturgist spawn point. He is quite rare, and drops a Blackened Wand. Something wierd: None of the SK's harm touch, unless they are over around lvl 15. The HTing SKs are hard. The other SK's are lazy excuses for warriors. A way to find their level if they are green: look at their armor. The naked SKs are wimps. The leather-clad SK's are also easy, but hit harder. The ones in chain are pretty tough. The troll sk in plate, well, he is pretty hard. He drops the BBC. (Isnt that a british tv station? =) SK loot is rusty weapons and those find corpse wands. They drop keys, too.
Priest Amiaz
# May 17 2000 at 12:56 PM Rating: Decent
Does anyone know anything about this guy? Myself and a large group of upper teens-42 went into Befallen the other night for a Blackened wand from the priest. We must have cleared everything on the third floor twice and saw nothing. Is his spawn rate slow? Any tips would be appreciated! Thanks!

priest spawns in the same room as The Theurmotalogist ( one that drops the marnak dagger) When facing the room he spawns at the left spawn point in the room.
RE: Priest Amiaz
# Dec 14 2000 at 7:43 PM Rating: Default
Correct. I thought I had to clear everything, but gave up after 4 hours of being in the 3rd level. Finally just killed all three spawns in the little cave room, where the Thaumaturgist (marnak dagger) spawns. Right before he popped, a barbarian came by to chat, when the barbie left, Priest Amiaz popped. Killed the priest for the wand I needed and left. Talked to the barbie as I was going back to Freeport and he said the Priest popped again after I left. Go figure.
RE: Priest Amiaz
# Apr 18 2001 at 12:54 PM Rating: Default
That happens a lot in the dungon...they can pop from a few min. to 6-8 hours. People camp Gynok (I think his name is) for his 1k ring...but he usually comes around every six hours. A guy I know camps there a lot...killed the mummy after waiting all day...and another popped after he left...
