| The western plains are by far the largest section of the Karana Plains. For Qeynos and Surefall citizens, this is the gateway into the eastern part of Antonica. Surrounded by rivers and mountains, this vast area plays host to several groups, factions and camps.
First there are the Millers, a family of farmers who occupy the scarecrow fields in the southcentral area. Second, there are the two cyclopses, Froon and Choon, who spend their time in the northeast unless drawn away by bandits or adventurers passing by. Third, there are the Rallos Zek-worshipping ogres led by the highly aggro Chief Goonda, a shaman native to Oggok. Fourth, there are the hordes of ghouls, skeletons, and zombies which are slowly spreading themselves throughout the land. Then there are the bandits who are trying to drive absolutely everyone out of the Karanas. Halas is represented here as well, with a barbarian fishermen village stationed in the southwest on the river's bank. Also to no surprise, the city of Qeynos has established its presence here with a few guard towers stationed along the pathway. In addition to these factions and groups there are plenty of wandering wildlife as well as solo renegades, such as Oobnopterbevny Biddilets of Ak'Anon's Dark Reflection. |

Warning to all the low lvls out there
I have found a group of bandits in WK that have an insane amount of Hp's....I am level 55 hitting an average of 30 per hit and it still took 3-5 mins per mob....I would estimate 5k+ hp....maybe closer to 10k hp

You guys have it right. The Half-Elf bandits have been given Uber Hitpoints right after the patch. I too petitioned it and they are awaren of it. With my 31 rogue it took me about 10+ min to kill one. Another thing I noticed. when they cast they are slow and I was able to walk around then and backstab them in the middle of the fight. Since their mana has not been tweeked I can only guess that this was a mistake but seeing how they nerfed the AQs in BB, I'm willing to bet they may be trying to keep higher levels from camping the sashes. You can make about 100pp in an hour at level 25 if your patient.

I was camping bandits a few days ago with my lvl 10 bard and some buddies and discovered the same thing. So I petitioned and had a GM come observe our next battle with the male caster bandit. He was quite amused, and reported it as a bug.
The next day I took my 40 paladin out to see if the bug had been fixed. It hadn't. According to the battle report, I hit the caster for 11169 dmg before he finally succumbed to superior firepower. :-)
Until this bug is fixed, watch yourselves out there!

Ah yes, I've met the UBER bandit and some of his friends this week after the patches. I have only seen it with the male Half-Elf caster bandits, and they have been verified by many high-level chars to have from 6K-10K or more HP.
I've given up camping bandits in the Karanas for now with my lvl 15 Enchanter. I've managed to get away a few times with a memblur and had to gate a couple of other times. It's good times watching him surprise a high-level player expecting to pound on him twice and be done with it only to have their hits not even do enough to register on the bandit's health meter.

I was in Western Karana near the Pyramid (26 on EQ Atlas map), and was killing the Skeleton Warriors in the nearby camp. After I wiped the skellies, I was attacked by a "Ghoul Yeoman". I'm a 17th. Lvl Palladin and he conned Dark Blue to me. I killed him and looted a rusty spear and some minor coins. Two more spawned and attacked me, I killed one but was too low on HP to get the other. I'm going back in to get my corpse but I can't find a listing on these guys. Are they brand new?
saw "a Splitpaw Assassin" on track today hadn't ever seen him before so I tracked him down, but he kept shadowstepping on me when I got close. Finally I got winged death off before he managed to shadow step and he came after me which was no biggy being lvl 53 winged death finished him off np so not exactly sure on lvl but can't be very high. He dropped "a hollowed skull" 2 slot tiny only container. Anybody have any clues on whats its for?

the hollowed skull I once read was for a mag quest. you need one large ruby that can be worn on your head and the other gem im not sure of but you put them in the slots and not sure if you combine them or not but its for a mage thing..... read it here on alli a while back

He's an SK and HT's for 400 to 650 ....
Just ran into a named griffon that conned yellow to me at 39. Called "The Silver Griffon". Highly resistant to all snares and roots. Double attacks for between 90 and 120 and bashes. He also is a caster, of unknown type.
You sure you don't have this in the wrong page. Silver haunts around the guard tower in NORTH Karanas
A little added info, u can snare this guy if your really lucky but dont bother with trying to root him, he's just like the titans in Stonebrunt, roots cannot be cast on him.

Does any one know what the barbarians head is for?
I got jumped by him on WK and he slaughtered my pet and i only just finished him off hand to hand after using all my mana.

Langseax quest.
Someone spawns those barbarians, so if you see them someone is doing the quest.
The new Mobs are named, Lukas Hergo (Drops a 2h Axe and a head) and Larkin Tolman (Wizard, that drops a dagger and a head). The heads must be for a quest of some sort and both are around level 12. Only been there since the may 8th 2002 patch.

ran into him at the QH zone line, running east. Conned light blue to a level 11. Well armored.
I've seen a couple on npcs around the 'village' where Chrislin Baker is along with others. I'll look up their names and post them later. All I can remember atm is two of the names started with L, and they were a caster(probably a wizard) and a Paladin and they each dropped a head. Also one of them was a green Guard who's name started with a B, and he dropped a note in Thieves Cant.

acutally the only place that I know of that you can get EE bags is Lguk off the 30ish evil eyes not the n00b ones in the karanas they jus drop a 5 hp+ ring and evil eye stalk used in war crafted quest < bracers i think > and the EE's in runnyeye drop the 3 runes you need for crafted shoulders

So far i have camped the ogres here a while more commonly drop batfang headband 2ac 3int 3wis and gaint snakespine belt 3ac 5agil 5sv posion uncommon drops are sheer bone mask and bone plate armors rare drop is bat skull earring and ultra rare drop is chipped bone braclett which is dropped from the preistess they are located at neg780 neg9360 which is the safe spot to med guarded by sk guards with harmtouch be careful suggest a 44wiz maybe other casters at this spell lvl or group of mid 30's could take whole camp i hope this helps you all.

This must be something new since the advent of Luclin! This is my first time in West Karana so I'm unaware of what should be there but I see no mention of it in the posts before me. Griffawns are all over the area near the guard tower (point #7 on eqatlas map). they con blue to yellow to my 16th lvl Druid. Griffene's also travel the area and con red to me. One particularly nasty mob is the named griffin, Grimfeather. I had just entered the game to get a loc on where I camped the previous night and noticed the guards were gone. I thought it strange and decided I would not rest in that guard tower any more if the guards leave it unattended. They hadn't left, they were dead. Didn't get the chance to investigate further as I was attacked through the wall of the guard tower. I could read who was hitting me but never did see him/her/it. Never got a chance to fight or run. 2 hits and 'loading, please wait'.

Greamfeather is native to North Karana, and has been hanging around there for over a year at least (probably since the game came out).
If you don't believe me, check your EQAtlas map again. #7 on the North Karana map is the Guard Tower you speak of. #7 on the West Karana map is the Miller Farm.

I think the 'newer' griffon of which he speaks is 'Silver griffon' or whatever - id wager to say maybe even worse then grimmy.... but then I dont hunt either and have no idea but both are very nasty and red to me.

Anyone know who she is? Saw her in the back of guard tower conned even and scowling to me lvl 40 Necro so she's a goodie goodie didn't try to take her for fear of Guards also attacking and was only at 40m with no sow

She gives a quest where you run a foot race. She gives you a torch to take to Fajio Knejo in Misty Thicket then he gives you another to take to Andad Filla in So Ro who gives you another to take to Misty Chikita in Lake Rathetear who gives you a Ring (non wearable) called proof of speed. If you bring that back to her she gives you 1/2 of a music sheet called Maestro's something and says shes keeping the other half. I imagine you might get the other 1/2 if you kill her and she drops it but my character is only level 22 and would probably die.

WOAH!!! I thought that I would take a shortcut and just cut directly west through the zone. BAD MOVE. So far I have died 4 times tring to get my corpse back (once as I was trying to camp!!!). Does Maligar only show at night (I am hoping!!) or is there a better way to get around him and his thugs?

Killed this thing tonight and got a hollow skull. Don't know what quest its for tho. It's a bit hard to attack because its invis most of the time. even with see invis it was hard to attack. after the first hit, then no prob.

I wandered along the path, checking what was on Track and decided the mobs were too far apart (and too near where the nastys were living) to be worth it. I turned back down the path and was about to enter the mountain path back to QH when the Werewolf appeared. He attacked me and I ran for the zone. He was hitting for 30-50pts per hit and finally killed me about 10 seconds from the zone.
Advice I got later was that, particuarly at night, stay close to the Guard Tower to be safe from this thing.
