Freeport is the gateway into Antonica, acting as a hub of sorts for the continent. The western part of Freeport is home to the Knights of Truth, Ashen Order, City Hall, Freeport Bank, and Academy of Arcane Scientists.

At the western edge of the city is the courtyard leading into the Commonlands. This zone is full of low level rats, orcs, skeletons, and bats which provide excellent hunting experience for people just starting out. Also of note here in West Freeport is the portal to the Plane of Magic, located on the top floor of the Academy's tower.

Turns out she gives a monster mission

spirit of mennelle, green con at 70, female erudite ghost
says (missions) under her name, i hailed her a few times to which eventually she says "who sent you, what do you want from me?"

I proceeded to try a few phrases...

you say, who are you?

Spirit of Mennelle says, you want to know who I am? I.. I'm not sure. I only vaguely recall a few things that happened to someone I know. I believe her name was Mennelle. This story is quite tragic, are you sure you want to hear more?

you say, I want to hear more

Spirit of Mennelle says 'If you insist. Mennelle was witness to a most terrible occurrence - the event that lead to the fall of the Combine Empire. Mennelle was in attendance at a great conference of the Combine Empire between al the races in Norrath, right here in our City Hall! It was a rather important day as the Dark Elves were finally about to join the Combine Empire.

you say, Combine Empire?

Mennelle, a servant girl tasked with serving livations to all of those at the council meetings, did something terrible. The ale she had served to the council was poisoned! She froze that day and did nothing to stop the foul beings that poisoned the ale. It must have been General Seru she told me.

You say General Seru?

this is the key phrase to bring up 3 person Minimum Monster Mission:
"fall of the combine"

Spirit of Menelle says "To this day, she holds herself responsible for the fall of the Empire. Perhaps you will be able to share her memory and sorrow and [take the action] she never could and at least try to prevent Seru from poisoning the Freeport Council and all of its guests.'

she depops during day time

turns out she only spawns and wanders around the city hall area of WFP

lowdown:
3 person minimum group monster mission,
1 person must be Mennelle (50 erudite cleric) everyone else will be a militia guard.
everyone gets 30 points they can spend. don't forget to make intimidation and taunt keys etc

missions goes like
*Enter City Hall (do this by telling her "take the action".. you must shroud first before saying)
*find out why the combine empire has been gathered on such short notice (do this by walking into the center of the room once you are ready)
*hand out 10 drinks
*end seru's treachery

goal here is to protect katta I assume, seru spawns with lots of adds may want to move near to zone out.. you only have so long as he will begin to fight and kill katta. Couldn't pass it with just 3 chars though, assuming full group is needed

npc: Emissary of Druzzil

It's red to 70, indifferent to me (but FP militia were indif too). It stood by the entrance to Arcstone in the acadamy of arcane science. Can't miss it.

------
You say, 'Hail, Emissary of Druzzil.'

Emissary of Druzzil says 'Greetings ______. I was sent by my mistress to search out those Norrathians that would have the power to assist her. You look as though you may be able to with stand some of the forces of my home. Perhaps you would be interested in accepting her [proposition]?'

You say, 'Proposition?'

Emissary of Druzzil says 'Druzzil Ro is seeking the most powerful of this realm to assist her in a rather troubling disturbance. If you are [interested] though, you will need to speak with her yourself. I am unable to say more on the subject.'

You say, 'I am interested.'

Emissary of Druzzil says 'Take this crystal with you when you speak with Druzzil. It will show you have spoken with me and she will tell you more of this disturbance. I must warn you though, only those that have proven capable of enduring the work of Druzzil will be allowed to speak with her. Once you enter the Plane of Magic, seek out Apprentice Mage Sarcrynn. He will be able to direct you further.'

On your cursor you receive Shard of Mana

------------

Shard of Mana

Unstackable. Same icon as Valor Crystals from PoV

This is as far as i've done anything. Apologies, but I have no idea how Alla's names the quests in their database that don't give a task window. If it's player suggested, I guess Emissary of Druzzil would suffice.

I was on my level 3 monk on Rodcet Nife. I popped into WFP to use the loom and hunt for more newbie armor drops when I got a yellow text message saying "Phineas Taylor says: 'Hey, Saert, I have something I think you might be interested in. Come and find me in my tent in the sands and lets talk.'

Well, I found him (he's in the far north tent, the ones that were uninhabited) and he sells fireworks. Hail him, and he gives you a weird quest. The reward is apparently a Staff of Endless Adventures. He gives you a ten-slot, 10 pound container to put things in, and a "cheat sheet" which has clues to each of the items. I was wondering if anyone knew what the quest was, entailed, etc.

here is my advice...stay in WFP until you get to level 5. then venture elsewhere. once you hit lev 15-20, get a group together and go hunt the drowned citizens. these drop some nice items that either you can sell, or one of your buddies could use...just follow the left wall until you reach the PoK book inside the secret entrance. from here, keep following the path until you reach the pool with the drowned citizens...(You probably shouldn't try this solo) <(^_^)>

I dont have the name atm (I didn't have logging on) but she is located near the PoK book. When you hail her she talks about Orcs and Goblins and Wayfarer Brotherhood but other than the reply after the first hail, I cant get anything else from her. I'll post more after my next visit (when I'll have switched logging on  ) For the LDoN quests no doubt but not worked out what part she plays. There is also a LDoN NPC in North Freeport (see bestiary thread for that zone for details)

Four NPCs found in the sewers under Freeport at 1236, -385, -26:

Yovik Splegle
Ulia Yovar
Tarsa Yovar
Raenna Griff

Talking to these gives the impression that they are of Good Alignment and they warn of The Dismal Rage taking over the City and they are even leery of Opal Darkbriar.

Perhaps they will be a part of a Quest in future, but they seem nice people.

Guard Alaya spawns occasionally under the porch in the Warrior guild. This guard is a spy for the Hall of Truth in NFP. This guard is part of the Messenger Quest needed to get Zimel's Blades Price List to start the Zimel's Blades quest which results in the paladin holy sword Soulfire.

Whenever my lowbie characters are in town, they stop by the bakery in West Freeport to see how Joshua is doing... then they kill him.

He is about level 6 or 7, gives experience through level 8. Has quite a few hitpoints and cannot dish out much damage himself (he hits like a froglock). As such, he is a good kill for working on weapon skills. There are no faction changes for killing him -- heck, his dad just stands there and watches him die everytime! On occasion, when he is down to his last breath, he will wander out the store, but the guards will not help him. Beware if he goes to seek solace from the peasnt woman working in the stream, cause she is his friend, and will smack you down quickly.

He doesn't have any loot, but sometimes other players must give him stuff, because I have received goods from him (albeit rarely). So next time you are in town, pay a visit to Joshua.

If you ever die in a broad zone, ask a Level 4+ Bard if they know Lyssa's Locating Lyric. It is a basic spell that they should have no trouble casting for you, unless the zone it is in is too dangerous for them. I am a Bard myself and whenever I see a message for a lost corpse, I gladly accept.

Easy Quest
# Mar 17 2002 at 2:07 AM Rating: Default
An easy quest for newbies is to give two muffins to the Dwarf in the upstairs of the West Freeport Inn (The one with the Brew Barrrel by the door). Muffins are 7 copper (to my charachter) at the bakery in the Theater of the Tranquil (ask someone nearby) It gives you a little experience, and -oddly- raises your faction as if you killed a crushbone orc. Go figure. And ignore what he says about milk, it doesn't do anything for me.

The Dark Elf Shadowknight and Freeport Factions
# Feb 20 2002 at 7:28 AM Rating: Excellent

My first (and only) evil character is a dark elf shadowknight, and I knew there would be a many issues with faction when I created her. Here are some of my experiences with the various factions in Freeport. As a note, I now have access to nearly the entire city. Noteable exceptions include the clerics' guild (NFP) and the casters' guild (WFP).

Presently, I /con apprehensive to the bard guild and Freeport Militia; indifferent to the monk guild; amiable to the fighter, rogue, necromancer and shadowknight guild; and, ironically, _fondly_ to the paladin guild.

Ain't Freeport a wacky city?

When you first enter Freeport, carefully approach the gates. When you can see the guards, /con them. I found them dubious to me initially, but don't let that fool you. The merchants (including Boomba) may still attack you.

What do you do, then? Well, as people online and offline will tell you: go to EC and kill orcs. Kill every passing orc pawn. Go to Orc 1 and Orc 2 and kill orcs until your eyes bleed. Then, when you've gotten them fixed again, kill some more. Kill until you know the family tree of every member of the Deathfist clan.

Just to be safe, kill some more orcs. Also, get as many DF belts you can. Save them, buy them, beat them out of your fellow group members... OK, maybe not that last one, but do get them and keep them. The more, the better.

Every once in a while, head back to Freeport to check your status with merchants. Ping Fuzzle-something in the tent outside the city gates is a good check. If he's dubious, you can probably head into town safely. Well, into East and West Freeport.

NOTE: Killing Orcs does NOT raise your Freeport Militia faction, at least that I've noticed. It raises Commons Residents (merchants in Commonlands), Ashen Order (monk guild in Freeport), Guardians of the Vale (halfing warrior guild) and the Knights of Truth (NFP guards/paladin guild).

If you've killed enough Orcs, you should be able to get into the Fighter guild to turn in the DF belts you've been collecting. Turn in a few at at time, then head out to /con the guards. You see, handing them into the fighter guild instead of the Militia, lowers your Militia faction. But hopefully not enough for them to drop you below dubious. Turning them into the fighter guild also raises your faction with the North Freeport guards (Knights of Truth).

So, after all this, you should be dubious or apprehensive with the Freeport Militia, apprehensive with the Fighter guild and, with enough belts, at least dubious with the Knights of Truth. Also, if you've killed enough orcs, you should be able to bank in NFP. (Yes!) I've noticed that although the banker /con's dubious, he'll still do buisness with me. Go figure.

I've been hunting orcs and doing the belts-to-fighter-guild thing long enough to get 'fondly' with the Knights of Truth, and have the main merchants (the first merchant inside the door) of inns in the Commonlands sell to me.

Now, how did I get the other factions up, you ask? Glad you asked! There are a pair of rogue guild quests from EFP that is very easy to run. AND, to top it off, they raise your faction with the rogue guild (which starts at apprehensive, I believe -- I am a darkie, after all), city merchants and the Freeport Militia. AND(!) there are no faction hits.

What are these quests? Well, Allakhazam is the place to find it, of course! But to save you the trouble, here are the two quests. They both start and end up in the same location in both EFP and WFP, so it makes sense to run them together.

Quest: Note for Janam: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=612
Quest: Note for Rebby: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=613

I won't go into more detail, since the site does that. Run the quest numerous times. I'm at 'aimable' with the merchants in Freeport now, which makes it SO much easier to shop, do tradeskills (especially blacksmithing!) and get around.

I hope that helps those of you looking for some extra info. I don't make any guarantees about anything, since your circumstances will likely be different. This is just what I experienced as a dark elf shadowknight on The Nameless server.

This is a little funny thing i found out. it doesn't really matter how you con to the banker, you can still bank. Yes this mean you can be "ready to attack" and still bank, the thing is getting attacked. If you want to try it out for your self go down to runny eye. There is a goblem named "the banker", this is your guy, i found out you could bank with him when i was in a group, we were killing him and for fun i clicked on him... "welcome to my bank, Valclod, how are you today?." Holy jebas! hehe so you can bank being kos, just kos makes it extremly hard to bank unless you got some kind of trick up your sleeve
