For static mobs, the undead respawn every 25 minutes, and the live ones respawn every 29 minutes. This is outside the castle anyway.

# Mar 24 2006 at 4:38 AM Rating: Decent
The leprous chokidai is missing from the list which must be a dissapointment to rangers working on their 1.5's so I thought I'd put a little information in here. The leprous chokidai spawns in the first "stable" on the right side of the hallway from the zone in. I managed to pull him solo with a invis/sneak combo and a snare pull. Got him back to the zone for an easy capture, add free. He spawns when a ranger at this point on quest enters zone. If you fail to capture him, he has 2 hour respawn. Hope this helps out fellow rangers!! Oh, and you kill this guy, get ready for a nasty hour long case of "epidermal rot"

Just another note when heading to the chokidai the domesticated see through IVU as they are not undead but rather live found this out as they agroed my as i was near several undead while i had Invis vs undead on.

Second attempt to get to the mob was a lot smoother went in the middle of the coral and got only live agro there, cleared the domesticated ones and took out the leprous on with no problem.

Found in-game map for Chardok, but can't find one for Halls of Betrayal--anyone know a good place to find one? Google turns up links that go to Mapfiend and the fellow who runs it has deleted all "stale" maps.

Thanks Much,

Anyone besides me also notice there is not one map in existance that shows where the zoneline to Chardok B is? or explains how to arrive there? Directions? locations? nada.

if anyone has a chardok map that shows where the zoneline is to Chardok B would really be appreciated!

It's difficult to have a 2 dimensional map of Chardok, due to the multiple layers that overlap each other. I found one on mapfiend, but it's hard to see the actual path. Best thing to do is get non-KOS to Chardok then spend an hour or so wandering around until you get familiar with zone. Basically, keep running down down down. When you see the Sarnak Herb Collectors, you're close. Here's the map I found: http://eq.mapfiend.net/view.php?map=Chardok_1_1488.txt&bg=b&id=132

I still haven't been to Chardok B, though from what I have read it is now on my short list of must-visit zones. I went to Sol C recently for the first time and a group of 3 (me, 65 cleric and 66 necro) were able to get 2 named drops in less than an hour. Interesting zone and I expect I will go back there soon.

first damage
# Dec 05 2004 at 3:53 PM Rating: Decent
first damage needs to be done on the leprous chokadai by the ranger doing their epic and its with a crafted weapon that is also part of the epic quest. they wind up with a blood sample, one of 4 original samples needed and an addition two samples come later in the quest. once the mob is at about 25% health it despawns and the sample is left on the cursor...there is also a chance of failure that the sample will be there...kind a pita since tyhe respawn on the mob is 1-2 hrs. so be nice and leave them for us rangers if ya see it up..:)

overall judging by the ranger epic the quests themselves for the new epics seem pretty cool.

# Sep 29 2004 at 4:25 AM Rating: Decent
Noticed this named spawn in the pen near resurrectionist's camp. Did a minor DoT AoE called Epidermal Rot. Took radiant cure and 5 castings of crusader's touch to cure it, so I guess it is curse-based. Dropped nothing, but it could have a rare drop. It wasn't a particularlly hard fight. Immune to stun cease so it is 55+ in level.

For some reason this zone has the best posts I've ever seen on this board for any mob or zone. Thanks all for the great info.

I came here in search of the mask of the forgotten, and possibly some sarnak spiritmaster war beads.

I noticed that a rabid chokidai also spawns just around the corner to the left of the zone in, and at about 30% health two ghosts spawned right on top of us. One was not mezzable, the other was. I had cleared in the other direction, and also waited to tag the 2 wanderers, so this sounds like something someone else had said, and mobs do appear to spawn while killing a named.

Can someone please post where the sarnak champion spawns? Thank you in advance.

Just an observation on the Rabid, Ive seen it pop in so many different places that I dare say its a random spawn anywhere outside the castle. Some have suggested that its loot depends on where it pops, and that may be possible. THe only time we got the FT neck piece was just outside the castle entrance (on that triggered spawn in the doorway to the next chamber just past the pens)

Gems and Hilts
# Aug 06 2003 at 3:02 PM Rating: Good
As you may have seen, the right hilt and gem 1 were fixed with todays patch. and here they are.

Combine the gems and you get Baelins Gem or something *chuckle*, turn it back in to him and you are given

Black Enchanted Amulet
MAGIC LORE NO-DROP
Slot: Range
AC: 10
DEX:+10 STA:+5 WIS:+10 INT:+10 HP:+50 MANA:+50
+10 vs Disease/Cold +20 vs Poison
Weight: 2.5
All/All

As for the hilt, turn in all of the Shai'Din pieces and you are given the complete no-drop ceremonial sword back + Shai'Din Medicine Bag, and he asks for you to combine the blood of the 8 councilmen into the medicine bag to make a tanning agent, which you must return along with the blade for him to 'Judge You'

I'm too lazy to post the exact text, but the Councilmen are obviously the new mobs that appear near the Chardok Royals now, I've gotten 1 No-Drop blood on my main before it was known what it was for. I don't intend on finishing this, so let us all know what it yields, hope this helps all of you =)

The Betrayers are dark blue at 61. Seemed to be tougher than the other mobs I was fighting, so I'd guess it's around 58-60... for some reason their corpses last 30 minutes, but only dropped 4-5 plat on each kill so far.
Faction
# Jul 30 2003 at 12:33 PM Rating: Default
It looks like fighting here will net you + Di'Zok faction, which you need to do Spirit Wracked Cords. My question is that does the faction seem to move up faster fighting here rather than Goblins? You have to kill around 3500 goblins to get faction high enough. Plus, they are green to me at 58. If I could get exp and good faction at the same time, that would be great.

Are the faction hits larger by killing the "betraying" sarnak that are here?

I've been fighting there every other day for over two weeks now and I'm still KOS. However the loot here is probably much better than what you'd get in Nurga/Droga and the exp is pretty decent. A warrior in my guild who's been there more often than I have (and hasn't killed the king and queen) has managed to become non KOS there and can walk down. As opposed to my invis and run technique (thank Marr for CA3).

So considering the hundreds upon hundreds of faction hits I've taken and the number of named guys I've killed there, I'd have to say the faction hits are either as small as the Nurga/Droga hits or I'm permanently KOS from the royal raids I've done in the distant past.

Royals aren't really all that big of a faction hit. When we first killed Royals I was at Amiable. Killed the Prince and Queen once, and then King 7 times before my faction even dropped to indif. But if you had bad faction before they put the -2k faction cap, people say that you can have up to -20k faction (which was the faction cap before).

As for this being a viable way to raise faction...I think that it's a 1:1 faction hit, so it's faster to kill goblins in FM. But the experience isn't terrible there and if you hunt their long enough you'll get it up. (Our rogue levelled in LOIO on sarnaks, and hunted in chardok for a long time before the revamp along with going with us on all the royal raids and more...and he just hit amiable). But we've also been hunting there quite some time.

Killing korucusts guards is actually the best way to raise faction here, besides killing korucust himself anyway :)

The named HoB critters cannot be mezzed according to the level 65 enchanter that was with us, pretty sure she was using the PoP mez spells. The Champion, Armorer, Weaponsmith, Rabid, Brodisek, Krizzknot, & Valinion cannot be mezed so if they pop and add you gotta mez what you were fighting and switch to them.

Also I was playing my 65 cleric the other day and the Armorer and Weaponsmith had spawned next to it each other. I tried casting Pacification (supposed to work on anything under level 65, both were blue to me at 65) and got 'your target is unaffected' error messages right off the bat, the spell wouldn't even count down.

Not sure, but I think most of the named mobs in the zone have a chance of dropping high level kunark spells (ones from the king/queen/prince loot table for example)
Two Additional Zoneouts

In addition to the zone out at the zone in point (the grey flower thingy) there are two additional zone outs. The castle zone out and the back zone out.

To get to the castle zone out you work your way straight thru the castle until you reach the room where you have to turn left or right. Turn left, enter Baelin's room (after killing the critters of course). Turn right and clear a straight path again, two rooms down is a ramp that leads down and to the left, at the end is a boarded up passage, click on the boards to zone out and end up just outside the HoB zone in lever (just like clicking on the flower).

To get to the back zone out you take the first right past Baelin's room and work your way to the ramparts. There is a cave past the ramparts go down the lefthand branch and you'll see a rusty looking door, click on it to zone out and end up right where the other two zone outs take you.

Note: Rabid Chodakais spawn in this back zone out area and drop a very nice ring (and it's not lore) and a very nice priest cloak with Improved Healing IV.

I to have spent a great deal of time in the zone since it 1st came out, and have not seen the 1st gem or right hilt drop in any part of the zone. Although I have not hunted much in the torture/tactical area of the zone, which is WAY past korucust and all quest NPC's,(you'll know you're in this area by the emotes) I will be focusing on this area for a while. I have also heard that these quests are broken, but I'm willing to bet there is some sort of trick to getting these last pieces ;) GL!

To get to Chardok Halls of Betrayal you head like you were heading to to the royals (or the herbalist) but you drop down before the second bridge on the Right side. Use lev and invis and go thru the waterfall, on the left edge, just past the waterfall is a nitche with a lever, click the lever to zone into HoB.

My guild went back to Hall of Betrayal again last night for some more exploring. We had a partial wipeout after fighting our way to the first quest NPC we found, Baelin Xir'Rixoan. However when we fought our way back several named critters had respawned along the path to our bodies and we got a good haul of items. I also spotted some new critters that I didn't see the day before so I'm listing them here along with the loot. I suspect there are more quest NPCs but there could be more triggers to Baelin that we haven't found for the gem and weapon quests. We did determine he's the NPC for the 4 pieces of the staff of suffering quest.

We had a 60 ranger and 64 SK to help with the conning and all of the named critters were even to red to the Ranger but all were dark blue to the 64 SK. The sarnak armorer actually spawned twice for us and dropped two different items (once on the way to the bodies and once more after we rezzed the two bodies there). The ranger mentioned that some of the dogs were even to RED to him so the chodakai are apparently level 60 to 63 since all of them were dark blue to the SK.

What was especially odd was that while killing an overseer in the room directly west of quest npc Baelin, we had the first of two named ghost adds come from a hallway to the west that's always been empty in our previous explorations. Then as soon as we killed Brodisek, Valinion attacked us from the other side (Baelin's room), as far as we know were weren't trained but it was really odd.

Note: in addition to the new loot drops some stuff from chardok drops here as well, we got a sarnak shield of battle and several kunark spell drops. Also we got two Staves of Shielding from random royal guards.

Everything we killed gave us the following faction hits:

Your faction standing with Followers of Korucust got worse.
Your faction standing with Brood of Di`Zok got better.
Your faction standing with Betrayers of Di`Zok got worse.

I have spent all my time here since zone opened. I have done the page quest and have ring. I have saw gems 2, 3 and 4 drop many many times. (right tunnel without an exit on other side of castle), but never a Number 1 gem. Left hilt drops in entrance tunnels, rune and dull blade drop at balcony tunnel, however, nowhere in the whole zone have I saw a right hilt drop. I have cleared many times through the entire zone. Only mobs in tunnels seems to drop any quest items at all. So there is either a bug and the two items are not dropping, or there is some trick to get the first jewel and the right hilt. Any of you have same problem? Or any news on the subject?

We decided to check out chardok B last night, after zoning in we started killing mobs around the zone in and soon our ranger reported a named on track. Alas another group at the zone in pulled Krizznot Bonewalker to the zone in before we could find him, but they had to flee when it gated. It came back full health after us and we killed it. It dropped a Rock-Moulded Wristguard AC 30 +10 STR +25 HP/Mana +10 DR (magic lore wrist 2.0# small war/clr/pal/shd/brd All) it came from to the left of the zone in.

BTW the zone out looks like a huge grey flower with chains on it. Also the yellowish water/fluid doesn't cause any damage (or at least it didn't to me in water elemental form) it just looks dangerous.

A bit later we got a Sarnak Bracer of Victory (magic lore wrist AC 6 +10 STA +20 CHA + 30 30 rec level 55 2.5# small All/All) it was dropped by a sarnak weaponsmith in the 'castle'. We took the right path from the zone in and turned right again at the first intersection. We then went into a building with some stairs leading up to it to reach the weaponsmith and the rabid chodakai we killed.

After that we killed off a Rabid chodakai and got a very nice necklace, Spiritmaster War Beads. (magic lore neck AC 6 +25 HP/Mana +8 CR/MR Rec level 55 3.2# medium All/All EFFECT: FT II) We found it at the base of some stairs past a stone suspension bridge (for lack of a better way to describe it), later an iksar skeleton spawned in it's place.

Everything we killed gave the same faction hits, initially I thought there were 4 factions but it turned out that some of the mobs give the faction hits in a different order so at first glance it looks like different faction messages:

Your faction standing with Betrayers of Di`Zok got worse.
Your faction standing with Brood of Di`Zok got better.
Your faction standing with Followers of Korucust got worse.

Lots of new mobs all of the ones I considered were dark blue to me at 65, some mobs left 30 min corpses and some were even, yellow & red to a level 60 ranger:

a Shai`Din royal guard - live
a Shai`Din scythemaster - live
a sarnak weaponsmith - live
A Shai`Din overseer - live

A sarnak haunt - undead
A sarnak ghost - undead
A ghostly servant - undead
A reanimated sarnak - undead

a rabid chokidai - undead - grey stegosauruslike
a ferocious chokidai - as above - lvl 57 to 60

A massive construct - big grey golem - Live

A domesticated chokidai - live - oddly both the live and undead chokidais drop chokidai hides

Krizznot Bonewalker - ghost sarnak - undead

Baelin Xir'Rixoan - Quest NPC - sarnak Skelly - conned indiff to everyone in group regardless of race, religion or faction with brood of di'zok.

Hope this helps, I'll try to post the text given by Baelin when he's given an entry, I didn't get all of it due to pulls and moving around to explore some more. We never got more than 3 at a time and even w/o a slower or crowd control it wasn't too bad, nothing seemed to hit harder than 300 except for named or some 60+ critters. The live stuff seemed easier to kill than the undead stuff except for the live named critters which are fairly tough.

There are 4 pages, Stone, Decay, Dust and Clay.
I had 3 and was able to MQ the 4th page. I didn't get the name of the guy but he was one of the named Sarnak skellies, and he was deep in. If you hail him and follow the text you will be able to figure it out. When you hand in the pages a mob appears and starts whacking for quite a bit of damage. He hit mu 63 SK for 880 a few times. 2 Groups were able to take him down and he dropped a Heart of the Golem. I looted that and turned it in to the Snark Skelly that spawned him, and he gave me a very nice ring.

Golem Heart Ring
AC 12, +20 STR, +15 STA, +10 WIS, +70 HP, +50 Mana
No saves, all/all, no drop.

I don't have any other info about the other quests excpet that they may be broken, but those are rumors I am hearing from other players.

Okay i am really confused. I been soloing zone in and the undead behind bridge near zone in and all i get is Staff of Suffering 1 and 3. Where does staff 2 and 4 drops? and where do the gems drop. I have been all over the zone and have yet to see any.
