Shadow Haven is made up of a network of massive caverns dug out of the moon. The Defenders of the Haven provide security for the city's surrounding areas, including The Bazaar, The Nexus, and parts of Netherbian Lair and Echo Caverns.

Three factions run the guild halls found in the southwestern part of the city, while vendors have set up shops in all areas. Shandling's Roost, the Luclin casino, is one of the city's more popular attractions.

I have a question, does the door to the right of the Soulbinder (the one two doors down from her) actually lead to a room? Or is it like the Netherbian Doors and just there for looks, although I cannot decern the reason for why it would be so.

I have answered my own question. I took EQ Zone Viewer to Shadow Haven, put on Fly/Ghost mode, and took myself to the two locked doors in this zone. The one by the soulbinder is a door to nothing, there is no room or hall or anything behind it. Just decoration to cover a large part of unused space. The huge locked doors in the caster area of Shadow Haven have a rocky passageway going back a way until it just ends. Future zone addition perhaps? Or a leftover that just didn't get taken out in SoL design?

I just visited there recently. The Teleport is at the back of Bld. 23. There's a crest on the floor (similar to the Nexus gates). To get back, touch the tree.

Not sure I understand your question, but to get out of the druid/ranger/etc. guild area in Shadow Haven, click on the big tree in the center of the area. Gate/Port/etc. also works.

Those doors are just for looks, there is nothing actually beyond them, at least not to current knowledge, if you hail the npc in front of it, he tells you what it is for:

[Sat Feb 02 14:34:50 2002] You say, 'Hail, Disciple Taloerlen'
[Sat Feb 02 14:34:51 2002] Disciple Taloerlen says 'Its a pleasure to meet you Psyo, I welcome you to the Midst. If you are interested in the origination of our great quarter please visit one of our many librarians. You may also be asking yourself what lies behind the door here that I guard. Well not too long ago there was a great evil that was trying to enter from the Netherbian lair into Shadowhaven. I cannot say for sure that we defeated it and that it will never return, but for now this door keeps us safe from it until the time comes again to unseal it. '
are Iksars KOS in Shadowhaven or Nexus?

Just got my Iksar monk to 18 and am thinking of relocating to Luclin. Are Iksars KOS in Luclin cities? I know that I'll have to do the faction quests to be able to trade and train, but would I be able to walk around and initiate the quests? Is Luclin friendlier to lizards than the 'old' world?

Come on up, the moon's great!

I am an Iksar Necro, and they love us up here. Well, most places. ShadowHaven is mostly Dubious, you'll have to run some quests to be able to sell and stuff, see the Trade Commissioner. Just use sneak to train at any non-KoS monk place.

Shar-Vahl and the Feline Population there are indifferent. Buy, Sell, Quest like crazy there.

Cities to avoid: Katta Castellum and Marus Seru. Even if the guards outside don't jump you, watch out inside. Those softskins are so self-righteous, I start shedding a layer of skin everytime I think about going there.

There are two different quests in shadowhaven that you may do to improve factionwith all the houses of SH.One is Trade Commishioner Henry, who is in building nextto the exit to to Paludal ZOne, the other is with Steaon Alarenier who is the door before the one you taketo get to Echo Caverns / FG. If you coincide these two quests, you keep getting faction hits for the good for all SH related factions, since the hits happen in SH and bazaar, plus one from FG, if you ahve any further questions look up those npc names if youre a 'gating' PC, bind at TC Henry so you can save maximum time. Also helps to have sow, makes everything quicker ( do it while in Bazaar part of quests)

P.s. Look up quest traders of the Haven and Steaons deliveries
Faction improvements for Vah Shir
# Apr 16 2002 at 12:56 PM Rating: Decent
I am SOOO frustrated! My Vah Shir Beastlord just got to Shadow Haven recently, and I was excited because of all the shops and such I could take advantage of there. Imagine my disappointment when I could not get any vendors or trainers to do anything for me but tell me to take a hike. I guess I should be glad they don't attack me... But, is there a way to get my faction up so I can do business with them? If so, please pass it along. Thanks.

Havent seen any info on this yet- In the library (casters guild) upstairs theres an inn. In one of the rooms is an artist-
You say, 'Hail, Pietro Guiccini'
Pietro Guiccini says 'Greetings! Have you ever seen my portraits? I am an artisan and collector of portraitures. If you are looking for a portrait, have one to sell, or wish to commission a piece of art I will be happy to take a look. '
You say, 'I am looking for a portrait
Pietro Guiccini says 'I recently purchased a splendid antique portrait of a gorgeous lady that you may be interested in. It is a tad bit faded but a hauntingly beautiful and captivating piece none the less. I would be willing to part with it for 1000 gold pieces. '
saying i have a portrait to sell' will get same response-

Now I didn't have 100pp, so thats as far as I have gone... info?

Well it's funny since I just popped on here to see if anyone knew about that, i gave in and gave him the 1000 gold and recieved a no-drop lore item "A faded portrait of a lady", no stats or anything and now I'm desperatly trying to find where this item goes to. Likely part of a Katta quest or something due to the price of the portrait. Anyone run into another "artist" npc on the moon who talks about portraits or a faded lady?

Ench,Mage, wiz, (and monk) are on Midst faction which can be brought up doing the pulsating rock quest.
There are also a few trainers in echo caverns for necro and if i recall correctly mage and mabey wiz, take care if you use the echo caverns trainers and your not an evil race or aligned, my druid got nosey and got killed in there (not sure what faction they are on but they didn't like her one bit)

Water in ShadowHaven
# Jan 14 2002 at 9:12 AM Rating: Default
There is a way out of the water, but it requires a ton of patience and a levitation spell. Unfortunately, most spells will not land on an individual in the water - they have to be partially on land so it takes some coordination. After the spell has landed, we still couldn't get the gnome out on the edges - he got out in the middle by going into a corner where the two walks meet.

The secret entrance is through a wall in a room that is beside the soulbinder that stands next to the "in" portal for Shadow Haven. It is in the same area as the Rogue Trainer at #17 on EQAtlas map.

Portal Pools: Solution
# Dec 30 2001 at 3:51 PM Rating: Decent
I got stuck in the Portal pools the other day. I swam for a half an hour holding onto the ledge. I tried swimming around the entire edge, looking up, jumping etc... people tried to levitate me, to port me, to give me a stamina buff. None of it worked, even if they were grouped with me.
Then miraculously as I swam straight towards one of the outer walls of the pool (the highest wall around the pool) and suddenly i was OUT. \
This happened to me again, I went LD today as I was running near the portal and logged back up in the water. I tried to same thing, swimming from the MIDDLE of the pool to the outer edge facing upwards (pageUp) and Pop I was out again.
I think this should work for any size char, I am a half elf.
So the next time you are in the water, instead of swimming up against the edge, approach the situation as if you were climbing a ladder, head-on.
I beleive that is the solution. good luck!

I took my little Dwarven Warrior up there and fell in the water. Couldn't get out no matter what I did. Same thing - people trying to levitate me, nothing worked. My friend was with me (had his Human Druid there) and he could get outta the water easily. Finally, he went and got his 50 Cleric and had me commit suicide. Dragged me up onto the platform and rezzed me. Lots of people watching me swim around for a half hour.
I don't know why - but the Soulbinder was in the water with me too - staying in one spot and appeared to swimming but not going anywhere.
Beware short races - this was not fun!
RE: Portal Pools: Solution
# Jul 23 2004 at 3:20 PM Rating: Decent
Was just stuck there myself -- as a wood elf, i was too short to jump over the side wall, but using the corner of a side wall and the central walkway, i was able to jump up on the side wall and land on the lower walkway using the technique above -- hope that makes sense! Good luck all ye little people!

Small races cant get up from the portal pool (far west room of Shadow Haven)
As a barbarian I can swim up to where the edge is the HIGHEST, as I can't get up from the water on the lower edges. A small race player is stuck for ever, and has to be ported/levitated out. On my server Firiona Vie, players with those levels is hard to come by, and my friend, who is a dwarf, had to die to get out (which happened automagically anyway since he got stuck on an edge down in the pool) and have the corpse dragged up. We petitioned, and only got the response that "there is a way up, have a good day" I guess Verant didnt care to try anything else than medium and large races. Bad class. Oh, and yes, we did try to duel to get killed without XP loss, but the guards attacked me, and almost killed me before I could finish off the dwarf.

Guys, why commit suicide and such things? If your friend is a druid, just have him port you out someplace and come back. But I got my dwarf out by swimming up to the back wall, so these reports are false.

While exploring Shadowhaven I chanced upon a defender by the name of Raldson and struck up a conversation. He asked me to deliver a list of potions to Daksins who was off in the Tenebrow Mountains searching for a cure for his sister.

I do not want to make such a daunting journey on my own. If any one is on Luclin and would like to help me with this quest, please send me a tell. Or if you have done the quest and have any advice, please post it here.

Lewena's secret?
# Dec 19 2001 at 9:07 PM Rating: Decent
In the Tavern up the stairs in the area of Shadow Haven near the zone to Paludal there is a elf named Lewena. If you hail her she tells you if you buy her her favorite drink she will tell you a secret.

If you talk to the bartender before you can get any information from him he refers you to Mistala and Daloran Glimmerblade to improve your faction.
Once you do those quests you can start asking the bartender about what he's selling. He will tell you about each drink on the menu but I haven't been able to get him to mention Lewena or what her favorite is. I've gone as far as buying one of each and giving it to Lewena but haven't gotten any further response. Anyone else working on this?

The reason I ask is the fact that you register in Shar Val why not in this zone. Maybe it will help your faction and cons????

So much fun swimming in the Portal Pools, just remember about the Iksar pools, just keep heading up and youll get out of the pool.
Watched this poor fool swim and swim and swim. I dove next to him, surfaced and leaped upon the deck soaking wet and clean. Just to turn and see this poor fellow try to swim his way out. Just make an Iksar and swim 'they are good swimmers' anyway. F9 F9 F9 view in first person, just keep heading up out of the pool.

Stay out of the water
# Dec 12 2001 at 4:09 AM Rating: Decent
Only worthwhile contribution I can make at this point is to be careful not to fall in the water surrounding the spires inside Shadow Haven.

There is NO WAY OUT of the water once you fall in, unless possibly someone ports you out (and even then I'm not sure about that). I had to petition and have a GM summon me out of this seemingly harmless pond, simply because the walls are too high to climb out.

Oh yeah, and if you are stuck in the druid, rogue, ranger guild....click on the tree.
