The city of the followers of Seru on the light side of Luclin.

Sanctus Seru is the home of a segment of the ancient Combine empire, those loyal to Seru. Their ancestors disagreed with the followers of Tsaph Katta, for reasons including letting the dark elves into the Empire, and had a violent split. Seru himself tried to assassinate Tsaph Katta, fracturing the empire. The followers of Katta moved to Luclin, and those of Seru followed in pursuit. They are a very rigid people, living under the watchful Eye in their police state.

The people of Sanctus Seru keep minimal strength in both Dawnshroud Peaks and Marus Seru, although their military strength is very good, and they could quickly respond to any threat from their high walls.

Speechless in Sanctus
# Jun 13 2002 at 6:58 PM Rating: Good
I have a lvl 45 High Elf chanter and could not get anyone in the chanter guild to talk to me. I am agnostic and the only thing I've killed on the moon is hoppers. I tried all "good race" illusions and just get told by the Human merchant that I need to find merchants of my own race?? /boggle

I used all my faction spells as well but to no avail. I guess I wont find out what spells are in there. /sigh

Any ideas??

Go to Mons Letalis. there is a big tower in the middle of the zone. The entrance is in the NorthEast leg of the tower via a tunnel. The shades there give positive faction hits for all of the Sanctus Seru factions. With a 54th SK 50th cleric 50th mage and 50th ranger we kept the top level of the tower cleared. Most mobs were light blue at 54th. loot is soso xp wasn't bad for fighting light blues. Haven't checked to see what 2 hours of killing there did to my factions but since it raises all 5 factions its a good place to hunt for faction.

Been looking into seru bane weapons. Not finding much of anything. Was wondering if someone could gimmi some info on how these are aquired, and if they are needed for anyone else in zone other than Lord Inq. Seru.

Any info you can give would be greatly appriciated.

I would like to see more info under the individual MOB's in this zone. For instance: Class, estimated Hp's, spells cast, abilities, etc and stratagies used to take them down.

Thank you.

What is inside the locked building at the center?
# Apr 07 2002 at 3:28 AM Rating: Decent
I'm pretty sure there are some uber guilds out there that have raided this city already... I was wondering, What lies at the heart of this city? It's locked, people get ganked there by random guards and policemen... what's up? There must be some fat dragon, or a bunch of heavily-loaded with loot guards.... I can only fantasize until someone tells me what is actually in there.

Lord Inquisitor Seru is inside the pyramid. You can find a map of the pyramid at eqmaps.com ... getting in requires a very hard to obtain key. Killing seru requires even harder to obtain weapons, in what I've heard is one of the hardest fights in the game right now.

Yes they were thinkin, this is a very complex set of factions for a very complex zone... Not a lot of people bother with it... Do you ever see alot of folk there?? Rewards are high if you can figure it out most people don't bother with the stories, just want the loots...

Now that's weird. I'm a brell paladin too, and the only faction hits I've ever gotten for anything in seru were negative ones. I've been wandering around the city and haven't seen anyone who conned below dubious (or above indifferent)

I have been spending a lot of time in Sanctus Seru lately, and think it is a beautiful city. There is only one problem... I died in there twice.
Watch out for the prison cells in the lower level, it's full of netherbians whose cell isn't locked and they come out and put serious hurt on you.
The second thing- I am a high elf agnostic enchanter, and I was wandering around in there one day and heard this scream, "Enchanters like you make me sick!" and was promty splattered by a Castorum Vigiletum (sp?). I have NO IDEA what would have made them do that, I haven't done any faction quests whatsoever on Luclin. So be careful where you walk.

Luclin Spells in Sanctus Seru

I've found where Luclin Spells can be purchased in Sanctus Seru. There's a big building toward the middle of the zone. Much of it is consists of a large library. The building has multiple floors and teleports. I found guild trainers for warriors and rogues. There may be more trainers for other classes.

Here are the locations for two npcs that I found that were selling spells:

Luclin Paladin and Cleric spells are located in Sanctus Seru at npc Diendra Berit at pos 132, pos 64, up 88.

Luclin Enchanter spells are located in Sanctus Seru at npc Vrogar Umerus at neg 64, pos 60, up 88. (If I recall correctly, this npc also has spells for one or more other classes, but I didn't make detailed notes on what they are.)

The up portion of the loc is important. If the up part of the loc isn't close, you may be on the wrong floor.

Praetorian Pius
# Jan 01 2002 at 7:10 PM Rating: Decent
I'm currently working on improving my faction with the NPCs in Sanctus and consider indifferent to kindly with heart, eye, shoulder, hand, seru, hand legionnaire,citizens,etc...

I was killed last night by Praetorian Pius. He bashes for 110, slashes for 250, stuns for 110. I suspect he is a Pally. If you stay away from the Seru temple (the temple with the closed/locked door) you will probably be fine. He does not seem to roam and has a 'normal' aggro range.

If you were killed by him you may not have a Sanctus faction problem, you may simply have been unlucky as I was last night. Has anyone ever conned him and considered anything other than 'scowling'?

Just a FYI

I have killed about 339 guards in katta now and am still scowling with the zone guards inside seru. I dont have a clue if they are on a different faction or what. I am starting to get a little concerned about the matter. Its almost like my faction with them can not be raised, or if it is being raised it is so small that it matters little. For god's sake i just wanted to bind there!

Was in this zone yesterday... wandered around a while, everone was indifferent to me. Until..

I wandered thru the archway on the far side of the fountain, up a pyramid and over to see what corpse was lying on the ground near another building.

*BAM* KOS... something named Preatorium ??? hits me for 415 two times and it was all over.

Apparently there are some buildings you are not supposed to go near. You have been warned.

Getting high
# Dec 27 2001 at 7:48 AM Rating: Decent
I just wanted to post a warning about going up high into the walls of the city. There is an entrance to gate up there, but getting down is a bear. I walked around the entire city before I had to cast levitate and coast down. No way out once you are up and if you don't have levitate, you could be in serious trouble. Nothing but guards up on walls anyway.

Been a LONG time, but if memory servers, you put yourself at autorun (or autoswim in this case), and change camera angle. I do remember it was 3rd person view, and it was either viewed from above behind, or below behind.... after I learned that, i got out in seconds....
hope this helps... if its not too late... lol

No matter where I go in Sanctus, all they ever say when hailed is "Greetings, Liltree."

I've had success in getting some of the NPCs to talk. Below is text describing the location, how the NPC considers to me, and the chat. The chats listed are from NPCs that do not seem to be listed in any other Sanctus quest. All locations are within the Sanctus Seru zone. Later today I will attempt to engage these NPCs in more conversation in hopes of gathering a little more info.

Your Location is -985.65, -525.84, 59.75
Torsten Reidan glowers at you dubiously
You say, 'Hail, Torsten Reidan'
Torsten Reidan says 'Oh, hello there. Sorry I didn't notice you before I was thinking of an old friend. This used to be his room. I guess no one else has been assigned to these quarters.
You say, 'what old friend'
Torsten Reidan says 'His name was Bregun Dorey. What a funny little halfling he was. He had a good heart and worked hard. That is up until one day he just started acting odd, very nervous like he was hiding something. Then all he would talk about was Bixie Treats and then show off some weird heirloom charm bracelet. His time for the question came and due to his odd behavior he was sent to Marus Seru. I sure wish I knew how he was doing.

Your Location is -855.33, -671.87, 157.75
Praesertum Matpa regards you indifferently
You say, 'Hail, Praesertum Matpa'
Praesertum Matpa says 'Busy man, can't chat. Important?

Your Location is -875.18, 211.99, 157.75
Praesertum Vantorus judges you amiably
You say, 'Hail, Praesertum Vantorus'
Praesertum Vantorus says 'You are a brave one, are you not? Few dare to disturb a Praesertum in his chambers, and fewer still dare to disturb me. Ha! I like that. What is it you seek? I promise nothing, but you earned some small portion of my time to listen to you. I also warn you, any treachery will meet a swift and final end. Of this have no doubt.

Your Location is 7.84, 234.20, 157.75
Praesertum Bikun judges you amiably
You say, 'Hail, Praesertum Bikun'
Praesertum Bikun says 'Well hello <PC name>! Welcome to Sanctus Seru! Welcome to my chambers! Always glad to see new faces around here, it is good for business and good for morale.

Your Location is 5.05, -686.12, 157.75
Praesertum Rhugol looks your way apprehensively
You say, 'Hail, Praesertum Rhugol'
Praesertum Rhugol says 'Greetings, <PC name>.
At a con of apprehensively he has little to say. I suspect he will have more to say when faction is improved. I say this because of his room location.

Your Location is 1204.64, 347.20, 59.75
Legionnaire Palati judges you amiably
You say, 'Hail, Legionnaire Palati'
Legionnaire Palati says 'I have too much on my mind to make chit chat <PC name>.
You say, 'what is on your mind'
Legionnaire Palati says 'If you really must know, I am worried about my brother.
You say, 'who is your brother'
Legionnaire Palati says 'My older brother Yill. He's a Praetorian, a fine fine soldier who was promoted from the Legion to Seru's personal guard. He has been doing that for years now. But he just had his Question a few weeks back, and since then, he has not been the same. This was his tenth Question. I have been through eight myself, they are rough at times, but it is for the good of the city. You can fail and are cast out, die in the process, or you pass and go on with your life. But what happened to Yill is different.

I also have made one of the npc's talk, in the middle of zone in one of the trainer buildings is the ranger guild leader, he will talk to you about something to do with katta and then he says something about his jewelled quiver of the hand and only the faithful or something get it 8)

BEWARE OF THE SWIMMING POOLS

I was checking out Sanctus Seru the other day, and decided to take a dip in one of the pools (My armour was all dusty). Anyway, only after I jumped in did I realise that there was in fact no way out, the sides of the pool were too high to climb out. Being a warrior I had no way to get myself out, and there was no-one else in the zone to help.

Well anyway 2 hours later, after petitioning, a GM came and summoned me out.

BEWARE THE POOLS!

it seems to be a common problem. My halfling has no problems getting out, but my half elf did have to work for about five minutes to get out.

I waited one day as a human tried to get out for five minutes until he asked if I would pull his body out and rez him if he just drowned himself.

My wife can't get her halfling out, but has no problems with her wood elf. I couldnt move her halfling around to get her out either.

We paged a GM with her halfling, and they had no problems getting out, but did after a few minutes finally pull her out of the water.

I think there is a definite problem with the way its set up, but they just don't know how to fix it yet.

Same problem here... I am on the Zeb server and after being stuck in the pool for a good time waiting for a GM a Lone Druid Happened upon the zone. I begged for an evac out but to no avail. I was literally at her feet and she Evac without me. Still waiting I decided to try all I could to get out.. (Ranger) I swam to a corner Pointed straight up and ran while ducking repeatedly. That finally released me from the Seru Pool of Hell! Keep this trick in mind while waiting for those SLOW GM's to show up.

This happened to me tonight, and luckily I have a second machine that I used to look up this info. Thanks, it worked fine.

However, before I found this, I petitioned. Just after I got out, a GM showed and asked how I got out. I told her, and she was shocked to hear that there was a way (I guess this must be a known problem). I told her about the ducking trick, and so she went an tried it out a few times. She was impressed. So, congradulations, you've out-trivia'ed a GM ;-)

If the swimming tricks don't work, try raising swimming skill to build up speed. I was stuck for 2 hours with a wood elf ranger until I got bored and started swimming around to raise skill. After getting a skill above 60, popped right after swimming at side of pool looking up at about 45 degree angle and approach angle of about 33 degrees or a bit less. Best bet though is to not be tempted by the evil swimming pools in this evil city.
RE: Beware the Swimming Pools!
# Feb 26 2004 at 5:46 AM Rating: Decent
Yes beware of the swimming pools, i got stuck in one with my Wood Elf Ranger on tallon, and as anyone from the zeks can vouch for this; there are like no gm's on the pvp servers, they just wont touch em so i had to find my own way out. First as mentioned above, run and duck repeatedly while looking up, or swim around till your swimming goes up to the point where you have enough speed to escape. I think there is a bug in that particulare aspect of the zone as the ground isnt all that high above the water, now the 3rd and last ditch strategy is to drown yourself right next to the wall and drag yer corpse out, now be carefull as that does not allways work, and have necro backup for corpse summoning.

I've not seen any there, but given the fact that they were against Katta for the fact that DE's were let into Norrath... I'd say ya, DE's are KOS there.

Besides, if your Dark Elf, you'd wanna go to Katta. Very dark, morbid, gothic place... you'd love it!

And, for whatever reason, alot more quests have been found in Katta than Seru. I'm milking Katta for all I can get before getting my faction up with Seru. Faction will be easy to get in the Seru arena... I think. ;)
