Mons Letalis stands for "lethal mountain" and is named so for a reason. The harsh climate of Marus Seru extends up to this very high mountain range, where more powerful creatures have come to live.

Below the mountains are deep gouges in the land, thought to have been waterways in years past. These are now teeming with Luclin wildlife.

Also found here are the remains of an ancient teleporter of Combine design, its use lost in history as it is now mostly destroyed.

I have hunted here quite a bit. I have had all manner of classes with me. I have seen them feared, slowed, mezzed, and charmed. The only creature listed above that I do not know about slow and fear is the Spire Lord. I have always been solo when I killed him. Other the spells listed above work on everything else. Cept, it is real easy to get adds, they will come out of the rockwork.

Word of warning. If you kill enough of the shiknar you will become KOS to them. If you do take into account they do not have an aggro message, and because of the terrain thier aggro raius is friggin gigantic. Due to the terrain sometimes it takes a while for the mobs to catch up to you.

I was exploring, looking around, and ran up to the top of a peak to have a birds eye view. I turned to see this HUGE train of shiknar. I didnt think much of it, I mean I didnt see an aggro message. Well, I watched in dismay and horror as they come running straight up the mountain at me. I made it to a semi-flat spot and ran around in circles while my pet killed them one at a time. By the time it was all over there were 17 corpses on the ground. This is not counting the ones that rotted before I could get to them because they didnt have anything on them.

try some indoor zones like guk or echo caverns, one of the better outdoor zones are the nobels in high keep.

I am a Lvl 45 druid and getting desperate to find a decent place to hunt. Before you all start flaming the drood, I DO NOT quad kite and train over everyone in the zone, I prefer to single pull, root/rot. If I use Levitate to keep from killing myself, would this be a decent zone to root/rot in to get past this nasty 45 lvl? Any help would be appreciated. I'm on the Xev server, if anyone wants to hunt anywhere with me, send a tell to Mahrriah, I love hunting with a partner or two in any zone.

As a 47 HiE mage I soloed the zone. The beauty here is the fact that as long as you do not touch anything in the zone, with the exception of the Stonegrabbers, the mobs will pretty much leave you alone. The Stonegrabbers where the only creature that argo'd on me while wandering around the zone, everything else conned indifferent. (This is all from wandering the main area and not the Temple or Caves. Temple has guardians that will argo.) Everything I ran across was DB to me. Stonegrabbers are a dime a dozen but spaced out enough to allow for a single pull with no problem. Biggest problems, special for the "Root and Rot" types will be finding a good place to sit, with the best spot I found being the ravine next to the temple where the Stonegrabbers do not appear to spawn/wander (at least not in the 3 hrs I spent there medding). Stonegrabbers have a crud load of HP's and hit in the 80's. XP off of the stonegrabbers was 2 blue ticks a kill.

The terrain can be a huge challenge with all the ravines and step hills it is hard to see things coming, especially in the middle of a battle. (I never has an add though.) Also watch out for falling damage (lev is highly recommended).

So providing that you can resist the temptation to kill everything you see, this can be a decent zone.
Twilight Armor mobs
# Mar 16 2003 at 2:45 PM Rating: Decent
Thought I would add my info for those who are not sure....99% certain that all magic / lore items with no stats that drop from named mobs are for Twilight Armor quests.

Named mobs (stealthy horror, powerful thought leech and so on) are all random spawns from regular mobs so killing a thought leech might spawn an ancient or fiery thought leech.

From my experience the more valuable the Twilight armor piece you are making the rarer the spawn of the mob that carries the piece.

does anyone know how to get the intoxicating spire spirit to spawn? or what it's place holder is?
RE: intoxicating spire spirit
# Dec 13 2002 at 4:18 PM Rating: Decent
Any "normal" mobs are the placeholders for the "named" versions involved in the Twilight Sea quest series. For the intoxicating spire spirit, wipe our the greater and lesser spire spirits and eventually it will spawn. Considering how many named spire spirits there are, be ready for a somewhat lengthy stay.

Monsters
# Aug 09 2002 at 8:26 AM Rating: Decent
This list is not up to date and has a few errors for monsters. First of all as noticed before Mature Rockhopper is not there. It is actually fairly meaty and will have stonegrabbers assist it or will assist stonegrabbers as well. It is still DB to 49.

Shiknar. Guardians are not that high in lvl as it says. They are around the same as Gatherers for the most part. The heaviest hitting Shiknar in Mons so far has been the hidden trap ones and the warriors. They do not cast and are easily taken down by mages and their pets.

Thought leeches are fairly easy they are about the same as the warrior shiknar but less hps. They do not seem to cast but that could be because they dont live long.

This was the very first creature I saw after zoning in from Marus Seru. He conned indifferent. Being dark blue to my 50 paladin, I decided to have a go with him. He hit pretty hard and maxed out at 110 a couple times, while I barely made a dent in him. After a quick scirmish with him, I had to run.

With a group like this the Hivemistress will die in 40 secondes :)
I solo her as a bard at 54 (chant kit) so i dont know if it hits hard...but i know it gates! so mem a stun spell!
Good luck
RE: Hive MIstress
# Jul 16 2002 at 2:13 AM Rating: Decent
She doesn't actaully Gate.

But if you get to far away from her she'll dissapear and reappear at her spawn point; lots of mobs do this (crocs in Oasis come to mind rather quickly).

if you keep her in sight you'll have no problems with her doing this

Violent Rockhopper
# Jun 30 2002 at 10:08 AM Rating: Decent
New to ML. Been hunting the hatchling swarms. Violent Rockhopper jumped into the middle of a fight. Conned light blue to me at 52, and not too bad in spite of being an add. Dropped a med quality hide and a Mark of Reliance. No idea what the Mark is for, but only did one quick check so far. I found the Violent (or rather he found me!) over by the spire platform thing.

That would probably be the 'aged dark wood shaft' which is for Druid Twilight armor.
It, combined with a moon jewel, mark of the wild, and braided vine bracelet are turned into an NPC in the Twilight Sea for the Blessed Earth Cap.
