The Twilight Sea is probably more land than it is water, consisting of several islands as well as a hidden area in its north accessible only by an underwater tunnel.

Katta Castellum sits in the east, its towering walls and guarded boundaries difficult to miss. Numerous city residents can be found on a nearby island containing two fishing docks and an inn called Jern's Rest. The Twilight Sea also connects to the dry, barren part of Luclin: Past the range of cliffs and mountains in the west is the Scarlet Desert.

Pulling Elementals
# Aug 30 2002 at 3:44 PM Rating: Decent
It appears that the elementals do not wander up to the castle. Is it possible to pull elementals to the castle area to avoid adds? How social are these elementals, and how quick do you get KOS by hunting them? What level group can hunt the base elementals, and what level can you solo them?

The elementals are social, but only to their specific element. If you pull a fire elemental next to an air elemental, only the fire will come. However, if you pull a fire elemental next to another fire elemental, both will aggro.

I am not sure if it changes once you are KOS to them. I've killed probably 60+, and I am still just apprehensive to them.

Great place for mages 24-30+. Pull with Expulse Summoned (or cancel magic for Fire) to the castle. Very few adds and the DD's against summoned are very mana efficient.

To answer my own questions.. Mystyre has been hunting at the castle now for 3 nights as a 27 mage. Died twice (once from stupidity, targeting a red elemental by mistake). These things do not appear to be social.. You can pull one when there is another quite close.. They do not wander up to the castle, so they do not join the fights. The castle is a PAIN to try to run through to zone if yer pet dies and you OOM..

I asked in zone last night if the elementals are social and was told no. I pulled one and immediatly got an add. They might not help different elementals, but they will assist elementals of the same type.

Does anyone know if i can survive the port at lvl 29?

You should be fine. My 27 Wiz ported in and found himself on Elemental island. No problem. The elementals are all indifferent until you start killing them.

Just in case anyone is still wondering this, agnostic DEs are not KoS in the tower, I've never conned the NPCs there with my Necro, but I suspect that all DEs are non-KoS there. The Necro _is_ KoS to the Twilight Armor quest mobs at the docks near the Katta entrance though, and was even before he started killing them for XP; the agnostic DE Mage was dubious to them and the Katta guards.

First: posted this at the Beastry but figure to put here as well ... I am looking for info on Aquilian Deepwater (not sure on spelling) he is listed to be in a cave behind the waterfall in the Hidden area of the zone.. I have found the falls and the cave but no Aquilian Deepwater. Was shown once a set of arms with haste to them that was gotten off this guy but cant find them listed anywhere here on Allakhazam site. Nor info about him and his spawning.. anyone on the other servers sides Bertoxx know more info ? think i have harassed everyone that has walked thru Twilight Sea the past few months while i have been there about him and no luck on info.

If I were you I would find a character with track and have them track for it. I would imagine it is a triggered or timed spawn. Also there is some information at Illia's Bestiary about him and his spawn. Good Luck!

Swirling Mists
# Jul 14 2002 at 3:24 AM Rating: Good
Has anyone killed the air elementals here for the swirling mists they supposedly drop? Are they more common than in Najena? Spent 13 total hours in Najena and have 15 Swirling mists to show for it. Getting smithing higher is going to be next to impossible at that drop rate. Any info much appreciated.

Oh, and can a 51 Ranger solo said elementals. Dragging a group there for smithing components does not sound like something I wish to try and convince people to do. I might get ported and left in CT as payback! Haha.

Swirling mists also drop from steam elementals in Steamfront (near mino caves). Since this is essentially a newbie/lowbie zone, many people sell their loot to the closest vendors, and I often see swirling mists on the windmill vendors (unless some smith has recently been through the area).
RE: Swirling Mists
# Oct 01 2002 at 1:32 AM Rating: Decent

Swirling mist actually drops off of water elementals, essence of wind (or air, can't remember which is the right name) drops off air elementals. In about 3 hours my partner and I had 2 swirling mists, and 3 essences each. If you are high enough that the elemenatals are green to you, you should be able to get a good stack in a few hours. That is about as good as it is going to get in this game.

Invis or Camo against Minnows
# Jul 10 2002 at 12:03 PM Rating: Decent
Tunnel swim is very far, get endure breath and camo or invis; this will help being eaten while you swim for your life. With a 43 Ranger, I corpsed at the 3/4 mark in the tunnel. Trained 3 blue minnows to my (corpse) site. Oh, yea, they stayed above my corpse in the tunnel till zone reset or somebody trains them out. Running naked from Shar Vahl thro Moors thro Grimlings thro Tens Mt thro Katta thro Twilight all the time Camo, I think I did quit well. Arriving at the island, both naked female woodelfs me and a druid friend sat at the waters edge. The minnows were agro, as my camo had dropped. I quickly Camo myself again and swam the tunnel. Finding the druid corpse first about 1/4 in, I noticed half air left. Grab the consent (druid) corpse and surface back on the island. Luckly I gave the druid friend half a stack of scales. Druid looted and cast endure breath, I then swam the tunnel and pulled my corpse to the other side that has Turtleknot ring, endure breath when worn. Just a difficult zone to venture in. Use con all ways and invis camo if you got it otherwise long cr.

How to spawn named elements.
# May 29 2002 at 8:23 PM Rating: Default
Want loot from named elementals but don't want to loose factions and spend your precious time slaughtering them to spawn a named? Here is how I did it.

The key to achieving this is with a druid and monk team. It seems the twightlight turtles are, oddly enough, kos to the elementals on island. The druid sow the monk, the monk goes into water and agro a turtle, the druid snare the turtle, the monk pull the turtle next to an elemental then FD. Now just sit back and watch the two mobs duke it out. Feel free to buff the turtle as you see fit, repeat this method until a named spawn.

I don't believe that you can buff an NPC so casting on the turtle would have no effect...now if you made it a pet, that's a different story.

POT KILLS
# May 13 2002 at 7:44 PM Rating: Excellent
Not many will go there, but for those that do, there is a hidden valley in this zone, with a shrine/kitchen in the valley, whi8le battling these alien mobs to get specific npc to spawn for quest piece, I was slammed backwards and landed in a large pot of which I could not get out of.
The down side is the mobs could swing right through the sides and apparently enter and exit it at will, while I remained trapped, evidently for Dwarf stew that must have been on the menu.

My partner and I did finally finish the mobs and I dueled him and had him drag my corpse out of said pot.

The moral of this story is Pot does indeed kill

Underbulks can be found through the underwater tunnel (secret area).

Tunnel entrance is located up by the minnows in the NE corner of the zone, EB is a must as it's quite a long tunnel.
Scavenger Minnows

Does anyone know how to get the scavengers minnows that drop TS armor quest pieces to spawn? I've killed the Grimgang and wettooth minnows numerous times as well as regular TS minnows but have never seen a scavenger.

I'm also in the market for TS quest pieces for bard on the Tribunal server if anyone is selling/trading.

Nope, you cannot zone from Dawnshroud to The Grey.

In answer to your second question Nexus to Shadowhaven to Echo Caverns to Fungus Grove to Twilight Sea.

BTW if you can't cast invis there is a potion vendor just outside The Bazaar in Shadowhaven, you can get a couple invis potions to get through Fungus Grove for about 11pp each.

Zone is tough to find though if you're not sure what to look for. I died horribly when invis wore off. Only after I got an alt to drag my corpse did I realize I walked right past the zone.

I think the zone is up a ramp you should see after going through the tunnel. The tunnel (not under water) is to your left as you travel FG.

Kiting Shadows
# Feb 09 2002 at 3:23 PM Rating: Good
I don't know a whole lot about kiting being a cleric. But at level 44 with banish undead, and a friend who is 41 ranger I have no problem getting the named shadows. The biggest pain is the shadows go under the water line which is unusual to me.
It can make pulls go really bad if you do not check under the water line first before you pull.

Normally what I do is get sow from my ranger friend and levitate, cause even with 180 swimming they beat the crap out of you in the water. I run over to the camp from the elemental island with ITU (invis vs. undead) and wait for the named shadows to walk away from other crowds, which usually only takes a minute or two. Then I pull them across water, have my ranger friend land a snare on them, if that does not land its still ok because they seem to be pretty slow. Then from there on out it's clear sailing. Run around the island with my SOW on , stop every bit for a banish undead which so far has landed every shot for full damage (585 hp), usually 4 shots and they are down, and I get whatever good drop they have:).

The underwater tunnel connects the northern part of this zone to the southern part. The route to/from Fungus Grove is via the teleporter in the castle near the southernmost point of the big island ("Elemental Island" on the EQAtlas.com map).

RE: Faction

Assuming that the NPCs are on Katta faction, you can kill vampires in any zone or kill Sactus Seru guards. If they are not on that faction I would check this site to see what faction raises you get from killing mobs in the zone and see if that is a faction within the zone.
my personal thoughts
# Jan 24 2002 at 11:55 AM Rating: Excellent
My thoughts of these quest armors.. for the ac and the time/effort.. They really don't look worth it to waste the time getting them.. They already make Luclin hard enough to get around with constant worry of dieing and then zoning back to bind point back who knows where.. I don't even attempt to travel alone in Luclin. The world is too intimidating to me.. fears of death at every corner.. Old world I was fine cause there were safety towns near by with tons of players. I guess it'll be atleast a year before Luclin is widely traveled and used. They really need to make a better way getting around Luclin. Maybe make some druid ports atleast or make it abit easier to travel around.. These armors don't make me even wants to goto Luclin to even attempt.. old world quest mid lvl quest armor is soo much easier to get.
RE: my personal thoughts
# Nov 22 2002 at 10:30 AM Rating: Decent
The items certainly aren't the best. But I imagine you get good experience killing the mobs you need for the items. You get to travel and see new places, and I would hope have a good time. That is what this game is about. If you don't enjoy traveling and seeing new places / killing new mobs, there are plenty of other things to do.

Here's a link to the drop locations of nearly all the quest pieces:

http://www.taylir.com/ts_item.shtml

Just to throw in my 2 Bone Chips, I feel the rewards garnered from these quests pale compared to the time you must invest. There are over 500 quest bits, so no one's going to hold every Mark or Jewel they run across. I'm a compulsive dumpster-diver, and have seen no more than 5 items on various vendors.

Of course, I'm still holding my Sun Wraith Eye in the hopes of getting a new robe :) Good luck to those who set out to earn their new armors!

The tunnel to the hidden area IS quite long..

My swimming is 162 right now and I would not dare that swim with out EB casted! Maybe if your swimming is higher you could try it.

Which makes fighting in that remote area a problem if you die. Make sure you have a back up supply of fish scales in bank.!!

Next time I am in that area I will do a test and see just how far I can get and also do a timed swim...but let me warn you now..its a Long tunnel..longer than the ones you take to get to the hidden valley out in OT

My level 41 ranger was able to cross to Jern's Island, directly west of the Katta zone, without problem. My tracking picked up LOTS of blue minnows to the north. When crossing from Jerns to the north island the minnows managed to get me to half health. Sure wish I'd have remembered some batwings....
Be careful out there!
Lvl Range
# Dec 16 2001 at 3:50 PM Rating: Decent
I would really like to know the level range of this zone, and how far underwater do you have to swim? Is enduring breath needed? This would seem a quick way to get to Katta if I can make it through.
I see no reason for lvl 50+ chars to tell me that all things in the zone are green and easy kills, that leaves out 80% of the players in the game. There are plenty of under 50 people on the moon that would like to explore and do the quests there.

The minnows in the water are dark blue to me at level 41 - and they did "nibble" me for 26 damage per bite. The land based mobs were green to dark blue. About 33% each actually, and usually not "interspersed", the dark blues were together, etc. The Vas Ren Shamen conned light blue to me. But with their greater healing I finally ran out of stamina and had to run.
The regular soldiers, also light blue, I could take with little difficulty.
These are islands, normally you dont go through tunnels from area to area but you do swim.
