NOTE: This is the low level Feerrott. For the version of the Feerrott introduced with the House of Thule expansion, click here.

The Feerrott is a thick forest which blankets the southern region of Antonica. It is home to a tribe of lizardmen (whose temple is located in the south), spiders, marsh bears, and other creatures you'd find in a typical forest.

With the city of Oggok sitting along its northern boundary, this forest also serves as the ogres' gateway into Norrath.Travellers should also be aware of what lies in the southwest - a spectre-ridden network of caves leading to a portal into the Plane of Fear.

Lol, I saw the message that a big spider poped up in the world, and everyone thought it was a GM event. Haha so someone told the world that he was at the entrence to innothule so I walked on the left wall comming from Oggok and then when i just bearly saw the path going to innothule, but no spider. He aggroed on me when he was so far back by the zone line I couldn't see his huge body. He summoned me right below him and killed me. Lol he hits for 200+ to a twinky ogre warrior, summons, slows, and poisons (and probably more but I died in 7 hits :P)

Then my friend in a different continent at the time, told me it was for the BL epic and it wasnt controled by a person. Lol kind of a nasty monster to put in a newbie zone, dont you think?

A few nights ago I was lucky enough to be amongst several members from our guild (Jesters of Fate on The Rathe) that helped out a Beastlord with the "Spirit of Decay" aka the mother of all spiders. From what I was told he is encountered early on in the Beastlord epic quest. The "Spirit of Decay" doesn't wander around Feerrott, but is spawned by handing in an epic item to a Var Shir Scout, who I believe is on a 4 day spawn cycle. You are not likely to find this spider unless someone has intentially spawned it and has ben wiped out.

It has a few nasty AoE spells - snare and poison, and maybe some form of root. It usually hits for around 225-255 points of damage.

We were able to take it down in a few minutes, but as we didn't have a Cleric we lost a Bard and one of our Warriors. Other classes there were 51 Beastlord (his epic), 53 Shaman, 60 Druid, 58 Warrior, 57 Paladin and 52 Druid.

Just a point to note, the "Spirit of Decay" spawns a fair distance from the Var Shir Scout that you hand the item into. It won't aggro on you as soon as you hand the item in. I recommend having a character who can track it for you.

I took a few screenshots and am planning to submit them so we can start compling some detailed information to help out other Beastlords who are planning to undertake their epic. Oh and by the way, it's huge. Just check out the size of those fangs.
