Sambata Advisor Drops
# Jun 03 2002 at 9:01 AM Rating: Default
We had a 50+ full group yesterday in DS including a 60 Warrior and 60 Cleric. The uber warrior pretty much tanked the Advisor. He was an Erudite caster type, conned even to the 60's. We dropped him no problem.

He dropped a Veen's Short Sword. Crappy stats, no drop, lore, magic item. It has to be a quest sword. Anyone have anymore information on this sword/quest ?

A group of us found the Sambata Tribal Advisor up, was even con to the 60's in our group. Appeared to be an euridite necro, dropped Intel's Hammer https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=8718 ... looks really cool too :)

Shcammy is that you?

I was there today as well. he was real mean and nasty. Had some kind of fear or mez. I got the message you have lost control of your self but I never moved. Just stood there like a dolt while they killed me.

Seems like a necro but he has no pet of any sort so I really have no idea what class he is.

And he did indeed appear as an erude.

A Sambata Tribal Advisor spawned in the sambata cave. He was red to me so must be lvl 57 or above. He had a white hammer with a dwarf face in the side.

I don't know what's wrong with Luclin. I mean the aggro range is unbelievable (in nearly every zone) but what's really bugging me is faction. I don't mean Katta vs SS but I've encounter a lot of deaths being in wolf form. First of all, in DSP, if you're jumped by a wolf (trap) and happen to run through a camp of npc's (either by rockhopper cave or twins who give out hunter's pike quest) they will all mob you and wipe you out.
Some green con guard by the water near SS will also attack you if you happen to be in wolf form but you only lose SS faction so no biggie.
But I found out that cats and dogs don't mix as I was in Hollowshade Moor and was near the little outpost in front of Shar Vahl. I had turned into wolf form again, getting ready to farm for owlbear pelts, when the kitty guards bum rushed me. I couldn't even run; stunned immediately than dead (hit for about 164 on average). Of course I con indiff in normal form but I issue this warning to any other druid/ranger. Be wary of using your wolf form around Luclin, it could get ya killed.

Another pointer, the zelniaks (I call 'em "horsies") will become very aggro if you happen to turn into wolf form as well as Stonegrabbers in Mars Seru. Imporant stuff to know if you haven't already figured this out the hard way.

Lots of people like to enter the zone from Netherbian Lair, but in my experience those MOBs tend to be higher there. One of the best places in the zone to begin hunting in the low 30s is near the zone wall just north of Sanctus Seru. There are many non-aggressive small zelniaks and zelniaks here, as well as a trio of aggressive but stationary (until you pull them) mushrooms. You also have easy access to the zone if you get in trouble. You are also less likely to be trained in my opinion, although the occasional lightcrawler may get dumped on you.

Saw a sambata tribal advisor pop in the back cave today. He is level 60 and is on the same faction as the other mobs. I was amiable he didn't speak to me when hailed. Pops in the same spot as the Elder Rockhopper guy when the cave is the Sambata's. Carries a pretty cool looking weapon. He is not listed here so I'm curious if anyone knows what he is for or what he drops?

RE: Ancient Rockhopper

Ancient Rockhopper is level 52 and spawns in Mons Letalis. Can't tell you exactly where as we had him dropped on us by a level 60 necro while already fighting 3 stonegrabbers near the entrance to The Grey zone. I ended up gating on a bub of health and my partner (55 monk) managed to feign death. If you're on the Bristlebane Server I could give you the name of a level 60 necro who knows where he spawns ;)

Strange that this zone is considered a lvl 45 tops zone by Allakhazam, when a good number of mob can spawn above lvl45. I would've thought lvl 50 to be the top end of this zone? Great exp here for my warrior lvl 38 with a healer partner exp is pretty nice.)
RE: level 45?
# May 06 2002 at 12:20 PM Rating: Decent
If u read the fine print it says that zone lvl rating is based on you hunting with a group; solo it is higher. so 45 is highest if u have a group of 6 45 characters. And I didnt mean that to sound snippy or mean; just informative. :) ok happy hunting

Im a lvl 39 monk on Innoruuk server and this place is pretty tight, i can solo here pretty nicely. every once and a while an un expected wolf adds but it's not too hard to fein them off. BTW for any monk fighting here, right next to this zone is maidens eye, go inside and shout that if a goranga spiked club drops, you wish to have it, its no drop so people let them rot all the time. the stats are 1hb 12/23 3str 5ac main hand only, now before i had two trance sticks so i sold them, then with the 1k in my bank, im trying to get a very nice stave of shielding, so fighting here will really benefit

Fire watcher is one of the named mobs that drop the items for class specific armor.

There are many others like raging zelniak etc..
Some named npcs just killed my party - not on the list
# Apr 15 2002 at 1:08 PM Rating: Default
I just got attacked and almost wasted by some crazy NPCs that are not on the above list. I was near the Neth Lair Dome and fighting some wolves when all of a sudden I was being hit frlorm behind for 250-275 points. When I turned around, 2 of those in my group were already down and I was in serious trouble. I don't know the name of the mob but I do know it looked like a merchant frorm around the zone. No idea why they would be attacking our group - allwe were doing was fighting wolves and zels.
Some NPCs (maybe all) love the wolves in this

The camp of NPCs with Dennis Rootenpaw con amiably to indifferent for a barbarian shaman, some dubious to RZ Ogre Warrior, unless you are fighting the wolves in the zone. There is no faction adjustment for killing the wolves, but if you stray too close while fighting them, the NPCs will attack.

BTW, they are red to a 54. Watched one take out a 55 cleric in about 10 seconds, and they will chase you to the zone.

That means someone trained them to the zone and they found you fighting the wolves and decided to defend their furry friends. Another reason not to fight or sit in the NL dome. I always go outside and to right, coming out of the dome at zoneline, and go up the hill above the dome to avoid aggro from any trains.

Another note on faction here is that wolf form makes you KOS to the zelniaks. Obviously these will most likely be annoying adds while fighting other things like rockhoppers, but could add up to a sizable train if you are not lucky.

Yes, careful when you are at the merchants searching for crawler pieces like me little dorf self trying to get some lightcrawler armor. I suddenly was attacked by a wolf and then 2 of the npcs were all over me. I was lucky to be a warrior and have hps, not to mention sow. I ran around for a bit trying to find a zone not to train folks.....managed to live thank Brell.

Samata Faction
# Apr 14 2002 at 10:11 AM Rating: Decent
Someone had asked about reversing faction with the Sambata (the faction hit you take is Samata, probably a typo - go Verant!) The Sambata are the tribal gatherers and such throughout the zone.

I can't find the thread he started, but he hadn't a response from anyone when I saw his post.

Reverse the Samata faction by killing rockhoppers. Hope this helps.
Watch out for the north side of the ME zone tunnel
# Apr 08 2002 at 10:49 AM Rating: Decent
If you've tried hunting in DS near the ME zone at all, you've probably figured this out already. Higher level warriors (usually warriors, sometimes other classes) will very frequently train through this zone on the way to Maiden's Eye. So if you're near the ME zone tunnel, make sure to stay on the south side, closer to the rocks with the Sambata gang. Otherwise, be prepared to handle lots of blue-to-60 adds.

This place is cool...I've found that I can solo with my 39 cleric fairly reliably. Dark blue zelniaks and large zelniaks, sometimes shrooms (if you can find em separately) and wolves do it for me. I can take a few hits of 60dmg easily. Chain-stun/root/nuke works well. Sometimes I'll get up to 1/3 blue for each kill, though the downtime is long.
Yeah I know clerics should be in Oasis killing Spectres but I've got the heart of a ranger (my original character) and like to run around Luclin. Speaking of rangers my friend has been here soloing a whole lot lately, she's up to 43 probably from the rockhopper caves.
Oh btw I know it's convenient for specific areas but Griegs End is not a good place to run to whenyou're in trouble...because someone inside is probably training out at the same time! Maidens Eye is rather safe though.

I was in Dawnshroud today and i was wandering near the wall by the maiden's eye zone, right at that patch of shrooms. All of a sudden i was hit for 401 and another 401 by a fungi shroom spell(you writhe in a grip of agony). I didn't even know what was going on until i was already dead. I didnt see a high level fungi shroom listed here so i was wondering what it was. Are there high level fungi shrooms in dawnshroud?

This Fungi Shroom also casts Root and Fear on you as my pardner a lvl 44 BL ( Groular ) had it cast on him after being trained near the Neth. zone. Needless my Dot's and SS did not taunt it off my pardner, nor my pet could get the arrgo. Bummer friend died and I made Neth zone with 10% health and both pets died rather quickly.

There is a patch of mushrooms between ME and the carverns that has landscape mushrooms (not alive) and these ones. There is about 4 there, and they are SK and cast Harm Touch right off the bat for 400'ish each.
TRIBAL HUNTER
# Mar 26 2002 at 1:52 PM Rating: Default
You can make a tribal hunter spawn, and some times the advisor, without killing the hoppers. In the stone circle in front of ME is a bunch of tribals. One is called a tribal worker. I beleive he is the PH. The hunter doesn't spawn too often. When he does pop he has always popped three times in a row (at least he did this both times he decided to pop the other day). I have only seen the advisor spawn once there and was told he had some monk staff 8/18
