Strategy Notes:
The Inner Sanctum of the Ice Dwarves. This zone is both City and Dungeon.

The basement of the keep is home to a number of nasty creatures who carry no faction making excellent hunting for ground level 55+.

The Top of the keep is home to the Elite Dwarves, with good armour drops, and the court of the Dain himself. Both quests and epic combat can be found here.

Two groups 45+ should be fine.

Bring an FD puller, and a crack lackey. The dorfs have high MR so mezzes don't fly unless your enchanter has a death wish.

Pick-up groups usually lead to deaths unless you're 50+.

Single sentries are the only ones that single groups sub-50 can handle.

Gems don't usually drop from anything < Sentinel.

Gems don't drop on dorfs. They drop in the basement.

Dain
# Dec 30 2000 at 4:04 AM Rating: Default
The easiest way to kill the Dain is to lev down into the Pit and clear it. Then pull Dain down into Pit, so you don't get all of the guards adding. It's a long fight, heh...
RE: Dain
# Mar 07 2001 at 6:42 AM Rating: Default
Dain wont come down the pit his pathing wont alow it.... tried for three hrs .. maybe problem with the patch the day before not sure but ... never the less he wouldnt come down the pit .... Any advise on pulling dain would be helpfull ... I can see why the pit would work but cant get him there :-P thanks

do not acciently zone in here!
# Dec 25 2000 at 9:56 AM Rating: Default
After i fell from bridge in Thurgain I couldnt find a way back up so I just zoned into Icewall having no idea what it was i carefully moved in and first thin i saw was a frosticube conned red to me a 35 necro so i proceded to leave turned around and an avalanche Golem is comin right for me must have spawned right at the zone. it chewed threw my steelskin and hit me once for 165 dmg before i got feign death off and sat there a bit and the cube past over me and to zone then when i saw cube pass back over me i thought it would be safe NOPE another friggin Golem spawned and i couldnt get off feign death i was one corner away from zone and died. Thats what i get for not having harmshield mem'd i guess

My brother fell in there too, gotta gate out or have someone with gate duel you, kill you on a platform in the corner, and then gate out. You wont lose exp that way, and wont have to run thru a lev 60 dungeon. Oh, yeah, and /corpse your corpse out from the bridge.

i have rescued several people from in there. i have a druid which makes it simple... lev down into the hole, invite person and port out. iceclad circle is a convenient place to land if you are sowed before leaving.

"iceclad circle is a convenient place to land if you are sowed before leaving"

Of course, the Great Divide circle is about a million times more convenient (it's about a 1 minute run from Thurgadin) and it's generally MUCH safer too.

# Aug 23 2001 at 5:26 PM Rating: Default
Great divide is only convenient when the sap has got his own GD tooth to port there , and if he was dumb enough to fall down there then he's probally new to GD zone and doesnt have 1

wouldn't lesser succor be the most convenient way out? dont need a tooth or sow, and stay in the same zone.
Rampage

Thats one of the new disciplines high end monsters in velious get. Just thank your lucky stars he wasn't "flurrying" on you... now THAT sucks.

Grizznot
# Dec 18 2000 at 8:54 AM Rating: Default
Beware the giant Bear Grizznot!

We cleared path, had to evac at one point, few died. Back under the moat clearing the 3 mobs that spawn there Cramm says "wtf is that?" Standing at other end of hall was this huge shape. Upon targetting I get "Grizznot" this huge bear, con'd red to me at 57.

So we buffed up and with 2 groups tried to take him on. Hit for 298, entire time you see message "Grizznot goes on a rampage." Anyways got him to 50% health or so with two groups, bring lots of tanks if you plan on fighting him, resisted most of the nukers. I'm assuming he drops a weapon that will proc rampage.

Rampage has been around for a while. It's when the mob attacks everything directly in front of them. Cripple helps to stop them from rampaging as much.

lol mobs in air go on rampage, its been around for a while
RE: Grizznot
# Jan 15 2001 at 8:13 AM Rating: Default
Most epic mobs go on a rampage when they are going melee, like the sleeping ogre (that turns into something else when attacked) does it. Could be a warrior thing, though. Since even the ogre was for the monk epic, he wasn't a monk. (He wasn't hitting in quads)

are all critters?
# Dec 13 2000 at 4:36 PM Rating: Default
I'm just curious if all the (small list) of critters up above are all monsters. The sentry & watcher appear to be Coldain. Are every single thing in here KoS, I've heard the Coldain King is down here somewhere too?

In the lower part of Icewell, we took 3 50ish groups in, and over a few hours collected a slew of gems (plus a rare drop dagger and some spells). This area is ave mob lvl 51-55, and just judging from the zone mobs, this place makes OS look like a kindergarden. Every mob in the zone is summon capable and the week ones start out about 188 double hitting=) Now don't get the top confused with the bottom of the zone, because the dwarfs won't take kindly to you hunting in the kings castle=) Enter Icewell from the tunnel below the entry bridge, but have CotH of some portage for tanks, once they fall from the bridge, thy can't get back up.

Once inside the tunnel runs in a straight course with 2 statics and a roamer, then you hit the larger "camp" room with the ice river. We did not go beyond that this trip, as the mob spawn at that point was enough for us (almost to much at times) in the river room there is 2 spawns and 2 wanderers, all very nasty. Mobs here DO run, and since landing snare is very hard, be read to kill with whatever you have, or once they head down river, your going to have 2-3 more mobs, ontop of whatever else you have. Sound easy? Did I mention our lvl 54 chanter wasn't able to mezz anything but cubes(sometimes)? and our 58 necro BARLY mezzed a skelly? You get 3 ice spikes or a pair of golemns and your in a world of hurt.
