This massive seven-floor tower is located on the second island of Iceclad. It is clear that something terrible once happened to the inhabitants of the tower.

Littered with undead scholars, priests, travelers and shades, one must make their way up floor by floor with a different key necessary for each floor up. On the top floor is Tserrina, inciting terror on the rest of Frozen Shadow. Contrary to rumors, there is no eighth floor.

Various keys grant you access to each floor of the tower:

Might just be me, but notice how Verant loves anagrams? I mean we all know the qeynos/sonyEQ and tunare/nature thing, and the yeogreff's animation and kintaz animation (geoffrey zatnik) They seem to be doing something here too - otdd/todd, nosja/jason, daman might be 'manda' priest majes medery/priest james something? Someone help me out here...

Angry Librarian

Since no Angry Librarin is in the bestiary, here is my experience with her.

I port to Iceclad for the first time to be with two guildies, 30 cleric and 36 warrior (31 chanter here att). We enter and go straight to the library. Down the left side, hang a left and camp at the mirror exit for evac. The cleric and warrior had been here about 3 hours previously.

So we camp students for about 30 minutes. During one 4 student mob, after the first kill, the angry librarian pops from a dead student. Oh, btw, did i mention it is hard to mez these guys cause they all stand in same spot? Anyway, we make it thru (woot for crowd control!) and the angry librarian drops the students homework.

Unfortunately, the warrior rolls a 100 on it :(. But I'll be back for my own HW thats for sure.

And i HIGHLY recommend for anyone doing library to dispel, i used Strip Enchantment. All mobs i saw had rune shields on. Once rune is down, they drop like flies (just like us pure casters ;P)

You are lucky, my guild is averaging at least two hours per Angry Librarian spawn. It's not fun at all.

Also, where's Ahmenotep (sp?), the named mummy that makes Cara Omica to spawns? And the Large Undead Gnoll that the lvl 2 key drop from?
Mobs and levels
# Aug 10 2001 at 7:01 AM Rating: Default
Most of the levels for the mobs listed here are indeed wrong. At level 52 some of the zombies on 4th floor wtill give exp. There are also mobs not listed here. Today we had a group in the tower 49-54 level and were wiped out by something called "a Statue" on the 6th floor. It was casting 500 and 250 point area effects thru the wall at us and killed us all before we ever saw it (wasn't that fun guys?). We were expecting nothing like this since most of the minor mobs had been green adn low blue. Have yet to find any info on this mob...anyone have anything? ps-the armored shadows are by no means in the 20's levels, not sure who gave that info but the are wrong for sure.

THe statue is not a mob. There is a Giant Dragon statue and a throne in one of the rooms on 6th.. if you go between the throne and the statue you trigger a trap <hence the 500 AE>
Anyone else think this is creepy?

Anyone else think an undead wedding is exceedinly creepy? Cant wait till im high enough to come here lol.

Now that i think of it, its actually kinda sad. An enraged relative to come ruin the wedding, everyone is dead, and the saddest part, the people that are getting married dont seem to be there =\

My guild recently ventured into the 4th level of ToFS and I believe the level descriptions of the creatures are incorrect. In the fourth level just standing at the entrance we were attacked by oozing flesh and An Ancient Mummy. Above they say these mobs are around lvl 30. They con'd red to me at lvl 34. They have high mr however my cold based dd spells usually hit for the full amount. If you venture into the 4th level, be very cautious. There is a trap in the floor that will put you in a pit with about a dozen shadow's. Most important, don't go unless you have 2 full groups and some sort of evac caster.

Good Luck

What's with this place?
# Jul 30 2001 at 4:30 PM Rating: Default
What's the story on ToFS? Far as I can tell it's a school, a library, and a wedding, all at once. Mind you, an undead school, undead library, and undead wedding. So could someone explain this?

# Aug 03 2001 at 1:01 AM Rating: Decent
not quit sure but i think it has something to do with Tserrina (might be the wrong spelling) the women on the 7th floor. when you pass the slippery floor on the 1st floor you hear a voice sasy soemthing like "you must turn back, they no longer recognise they no longer know" then when you go to the 2nd floor if you are invis to undead and you run straight through the library takign no turns when you hit the other wall there is a corrider when your running it says something else really long about "her" taking them for her own use or soemthing like that as far as ive seen there are no messages like this on the 3rd 4th 5th or 6th floor's but i havnt been to every place on those floors just the paths to get to the next floor lol hope that answers some fo your question

If you talk to this one kejekan in Stonebrunt he says this place was where soem eruidites where during the civil war on Odus. However a creature named Tserrina (boss of the zone) turned them undead and turned there souls into black ice (what the tower is made of)

Dear Mr. Paladin,
While I am a dark elf and I do enjoy watching paladins die, I am disgusted by the number of good-two shoes corpses that mess up my manual targeting. So if you want to make good money try Rathe Mountains, the zone is big enough no one's is going to care if you have 10 corpses lying around(ooc: get into a giant slaying group and make some friggin money in 4 hours I have netted 600 plat and 1500 gold and untold amounts of silver and copper destroyed)

WTF are all those mirrors for?
# Jul 09 2001 at 12:21 PM Rating: Default
I now have all keys to all floors including Tserrina's Key. So I use her key to port from 1 to 7 into a room with 7 mirrors and a locked door. The key to 7 unlocks the door, but what do I do with all these mirrors? If I am looking into the room of mirrors, the one farthest to the right tells me I am not wielding the key (and I tried all keys on it), and all the other mirrors port me outside. That just doesnt seem right. I would have thought that it would port me to a certain floor based on which mirror I click.
What am I doing wrong?

Anyone know if there is bind point in tower. i try close to the entrance of first floor, nothing. close to the first second mirror and same nothing.
i ask in ooc to other players, but not answers.

please could you help me ?
RE: bind point
# Aug 07 2001 at 1:43 PM Rating: Default
There is no bind point within the tower. Even pure casters can't bind within the tower. Not sure where the closest bind point would be but I am guessing Thurgadin.
RE: bind point
# Oct 26 2001 at 12:35 PM Rating: Decent
The closest bind point would actually be Kael. Thurgadin is Iceclad -> Eastern Wastes -> Great Divide -> Thurgadin

Answers to questions..

Alot of the levels listed here are indeed quite wrong. 4th floor is great xp up o about 44th level but after that you should head up to 6th floor which can take you from 44 to 51 relatively fast. The xp at 51 is consistent, although it's not great. I have yet to see what 6th floor offers at 52 but my thoughts are that it is mostly a sea of green at 52.

Vhal'sera is a tough fight. He's a 50th level necro that charms, fears, darkness's, and grav fluxes. My suggestion to any groups that wish to fight him.. be at least a mid - upper 40 group. the tanks should scrap their AC gear for MR, PR, and FR gear. (normally when I fight Vhal'sera I bring my gear that puts me at around 80-100 on each of those resists, while sacking 100pts in AC). Since Vhal is highly magic resistant, just have your druid/shaman play back up healer to the cleric (or continue as main healer). Buff up with symbols (pinzarn works fine.. you don't *need* naltron).

He will most likely not get snared so he will gate away. Don't worry though because he has not really ever trained anything onto my groups. (and we have fought him with 34th level folks) Wait for Vhal to find his way back to you then commence the butt kicking. If he goes into the water do NOT follow him... wait for him to exit the water. Make sure you have your highest level tank pull him from the room above the bridge. You *might* (never hapened to me in all my levels in the tower) get some assists from the bats on that floor, which may end up being a bad thing if you can't get them rooted out of the way/mezzed.

Vhal will fall easily using that. The other day I took him out with a group consisting of a 51 pallie, 51 sk, 45 cleric, 39 enchanter, 45 ranger, 51 wizard. It was no sweat. With my resists buffed as high as they were he never landed a spell on me.
RE: Answers to questions..
# Jul 15 2001 at 9:15 AM Rating: Default
Vhal'Sera is only level 45 for one thing, and we owned him with a 51 pally, 52 monk, and a 52 druid. He is rather easy, you just need the right people for the job. The key to this tower is magic resist gear. 1 tank with 100 save magic unbuffed is much more valuable then 5 tanks with 25 save magic unbuffed, unless the 5 tanks are upper 50's. Charm is the biggest threat in here.
Key
# Jun 26 2001 at 10:40 AM Rating: Default
Ok on cook area KEY is dropped by Enraged BEast. you can spawn it by killing skeleton sleepers. It is a rare pop and he will be up moment u kill skeleton. So be cearful not to train cos he is hardest to kill on that lvl.
Keys
# Jun 24 2001 at 9:56 PM Rating: Default
Ok, heres some well needed info. The keys that drop usually pop after a random PH is killed, Large Undead gnolls drops the frist key, it takes about15-30 min to get this key. Next key drops of THE angry librian, she is a rare spawn, it took me 3 or 4 hours to get this one of consistant camping, when my group killed her she only dropped the key.Next is the Enraged Shadow Beast, he is a uncommon to rare spawn which my group has not been able to locate yet,you should go to the bedroom where the zone out mirror is, which is safe if I pull to many, watch out for armored shadows, they have TONS of HP,Gnome skin drops often, seen 2 bracers, 1 glove, and 1 mask so far, gloves are good, ill post more about the 4th floor

# Jun 04 2001 at 7:01 PM Rating: Default
Some of this conns posted for MOBs here is wrong. I've spent numerous hours in the Tower now and for one, I know that the Ghostly school teacher is lvl 36 or 37. She always conns yellow to me. Zorglim the Dead has several conns, sometimes yellow, sometimes blue.
So far I have made it to lvl 4, but have not gone past the entrance. Our 2 groups were having a tough time fighting evething off and staying alive in the process. Groups ranged from lvl 34 - 42. It not really difficult to go through to lvl 4...just need 2 well oiled groups....hehe

Could a Lvl 54 Enchanter, 45 druid, 45 cleric, 35 sk, and a 35 rouge could take the diamond wedding band camp? Or would we get smacked down back to the first floor? Any help would be appreciated.
RE: How many ppl?
# May 27 2001 at 9:48 PM Rating: Decent
Most likely, you'd be able to do it. Might get a little risky against the Enraged Relatives (You will end up fighting the golem ushers, regardless). Have the enchanter pull, to minimized the amount of agrro. If you can get past the previous floor with no near-death experiences, you should be able to do the wedding party.

The Weeding room will be a peace off cake....
If you can avoid the Enraged Relatives.
Will be really better with a higher lvl tank because the Enraged hit hard and got High Magic resist.
Tower Guide
# May 18 2001 at 11:00 AM Rating: Excellent
Here are my observations after spending the last couple of days hunting the Tower. I am a lv 45 Iksar Shaman on the TZ server.

General: Most of the mobs here have a ton of hit points, and hit for a bit more than their level, but hey, that's Velious :)

First Floor: The key to 2nd level drops off the Large Undead Gnoll. Like most of the keyholders, he pops immediately after you kill his placeholder, which can be any mob on this level. Invis vs undead works on this whole floor. Watch for the very slippery floor in the middle room.

Second Floor: The Angry Libarian (note spelling) spawns after killing any mob on the second floor. I have had him pop from various mobs here, so best bet is just to pull em all. Almost all the mobs here are casters; wizards and necros mostly. The Libarian, a necro, drops the Student's Homework and the Teachers Syllabus, both desired items. Invis vs undead works on this whole floor. Zorglim the Dead also sometimes spawns in any random spot. He dropped Crystallized legs. The exit back to Iceclad is behind a sliding bookcase in the far left corner as you zone in.

Third Floor: This floor has a mix of gnolls, skels, animated armors, and regular undead. The armors are not affected by invis undead, so before zoning into the 3rd have everyone put on regular invis, as there should be a roaming armor quite close to the zone in point. Best bet is to head the whole party to the undead maid's room, right by the zone out, and clear that area and pull into there. The Enraged Shadowbeast drops the next key, and I have had him pop out of every mob on the floor. Killed him 4 times and he dropped the Velium ring each time (as well as they key, of course). Another mob of note here was the Angry Chef, a really hideous looking hag caster (only caster on this level). She spawned in place of one of the armors, and dropped Crystallized legs. The gnolls on this level drop no plat, all other mobs are generous. The armors have more hit points than the other (already upped) mobs here.

Fourth Floor: This place is a maze with pits that drop you into a dungeon. Clicking on a firepot in the central dungeon room will teleport you to the zone-in point on this floor. In spite of the mummies and the shadows, regular invis works on all the mobs on this floor, and the aggro range is pretty high, so make sure all are invised before heading there. In order to exit this floor back to Iceclad, you must open a door with the same key that you used to get to this floor. This means that unless you or someone with you has the key, your only way out is gate. This is troublesome if your party gets wiped somewhat and the survivors have no keys. The key to the next floor is dropped by Cara Omica, a lv 42 wizard with really nice resistances (another real ugly hag, by the way). I couldn't land anything on her worth squat. She can be tanked down no problem as long as healing is available. She always spawns in the coffin room, the last big room before the zone to fifth floor. She is a triggered spawn; you must kill Amonphetra (a named mummy) and then Cara pops immediately. Amonphetra is a cleric, and can be made to spawn by killing any mummies on this level. Amonphetra can exist at the same time as Cara Omica; they are not exclusive. Someone told me they had a couple of Amonphetra's up at the same time. Each time Amonphetra dropped the Sparkling Soul Necklace. In order to reach Cara's room, follow the right wall from the moment you zone in, and walk past shadows through the illusory wall. Another mob of note is Nermak Berreka, a SK armor that pops in place of one of the shadows that hang out by the illusory wall. He drops a book and a nifty shield.

Hope this was useful somewhat. Going to 5th soon.
anyone know...

Named mummy, yellow to me at 44, hits hard, but like most undead not very fire resistant.

Spawns on the same floor as Cara, prolly triggered random spawn, as I have seen multiple Amons up when the floor is busy and trash MOBs are being cleared regularly.

RE: how to spawn
# May 03 2001 at 9:13 PM Rating: Default
Angry librarian spawns after the librarian is killed so many times. Number of times may be random. Angry librarian dropps the students homework and the teachers syllabus.
Undead Usher
# Apr 18 2001 at 1:59 PM Rating: Decent
There is a static spawn on level 5 that spawns the enraged relative every time. It is an UNDEAD USHER and spawns at random with the golem ushers. Now be careful as you can have more than one enraged relative at a time, our group was just barely lucky enuff to kill the first and loot it as a second spawned and we evaced. It has a powerful attack and is definitely the most dangerous on that level.

That would also explain how invis would not work sometimes when running by the golems, as if it is undead you need invis vs undead to get by, which in turn is negated by ones you need regular invis for.

just wondering can a group containing 2 pallies, 2 druis, 1 cleric, and 1 enchanter, levels 42 to 47 take down the key holder for the 7th floor Vhal the efreeti?
How does this guy compare to Tserrina? is she very magic resistant?
