This massive seven-floor tower is located on the second island of Iceclad. It is clear that something terrible once happened to the inhabitants of the tower.

Littered with undead scholars, priests, travelers and shades, one must make their way up floor by floor with a different key necessary for each floor up. On the top floor is Tserrina, inciting terror on the rest of Frozen Shadow. Contrary to rumors, there is no eighth floor.

Various keys grant you access to each floor of the tower:

I have been fighting in ToFS for many levels. I love this zone and have discovered that it is pretty much the best exp i have ever found. My Warrior (lvl 51 on the nameless) has all of the keys including Tserinna's. By going to the right on 1st floor instead of to the left you come to the mirror that Tserrina's key works on. click on it and you are taken to the mirror room. By clicking on the other mirrors with your key, (not really needed now with keyrings) you are taken to the corresponding zone in point on the other floors. After getting a full set of keys, navigation is easy in the tower. What I would LOVE to have answered is, has anyone figured out how to remove the curse on the Magnetic Dirk of Distraction????? Its a decent weapon but I am tired of fighting always on the south side!

Just a little thing. You will know the student you pulled will pop the angry librarian because said student will be casting wizard spells. The normal students are necros. Thanks to Jarrex for pointing that out to me.

went in here last night, with a party of 5.
we were under the assumption 1 key would take us all up, but didn't work. does every party member require a key?
if this is a group key please explain how it takes everyone up, we couldn't get it to work.

To take a group up you need to be holding the key for that particular area.

Has anyone else found this item? My party and I fought a Shadowbeast Necromancer on 6b and this dropped off it. I can't find a SB Necro listed anywhere as being a mob in the tower. So can't find any info on what this item might be for. Any info on this would be appreciated. Email me at xdelilax@hotmail.com or post here. Thanks!

I assume you guys have figured this out by now (or have lost interest) but this is for the quest leading to the Orb of Draconic Energy.

This is an almost unknown quest because it's hard and the final reward, well, isn't that hot. It's slightly better now that it has the focus effect Mana Preservation II on it, but it's still not worth the effort unless you just really like questing for fun rather than profit.

Here's the writeup on the quest:

Don't forget Sup.Camo. It can be used on 2,3,4,&5.
Floor1: IVU
Floor2: IVU or Sup.Camo. Ok there are a few mobs that can see through Sup.Camo. but for the most part they can't.(only one student that I know for a fact that can) Don't be a moron and run over the mobs. Go to the left and stay about middle of walk way when heading to the mirror.
Floor3: Sup.Camo. Works like a charm every time
Floor4: Sup.Camo. Works on all mobs have yet to have something see me.
Floor5: Sup.Camo. Works for the most part I think one or two of the ushers might see but running through the center works.(could only be head usher never spent much time there after we got our keys
Floor6a: IVU and only IVU Walls are thin so don't go running into walls. Massive trains if not cleared and you peek through and get hit
From 6b to 7th I dont think anything works but never really tried anything on 7th.
So I hope this helps. It has helped me run up to meet groups and to get my groups to 6b and up.

Ummm Camo/Sup. Camo do NOT work on undead. They are just like a normal invis. You need an Invis vs Undead to be invisble to undead.

As for them not aggroing because they were green, the icy spectre things on floor one still aggro me and they are gray cons and the ghosts in the library still aggro me and they are mostly gray and green con to me. I don't know why the guy above got no aggro but I suspect he may be fibbing a little.

sup. camo does not work on undead on level 1 2 3 5. the reason mobs did not aggro you was that they were green to you. undead on these levels do not aggro unless they are light blue (soemtimes not even then) and up if you don't hang around them very long. when mobs are green, if you do not sit close to them or you just run by them fast they will rarely aggro. this is why most but not all undead on these levels did not aggro you with sup camo and why on 6 you need ivu. mobs on 6 are higher level. i bet if you tried running through wihtout casting sup camo on the floors you say it work, you would also not aggro anything. i would bet you're around level 55 which is when most mobs would not aggro by just running past below 6.

sup camo works 99% of the time on level 4 though, the odd mummy will see through it, but its rare regardless of level.

Heyas all,

Additional info on how to move thru the Tower. First floor requires you to to ITU( or just run like hell) so does the second (Library). 3rd floor (kitchens) is invis ( invis at the mirror on the second floor ) then run to the mirror. 4th (pyramid)floor is kinda tricky. If you take the door to your immediate right there is a ancient mummy that can see thru invis ( probably the only one in the whole darn floor ) so Id go thru the side passages to get to cara omica. 5th floor (wedding)you can get thru by invis. Hope this helps you soloists out there. Be safe all

MAGE! MAGE! M..A.. G.. E! IM A MAGE! I dont cast clarity and I dont TL! READ THE DA*N BOOK! You think Jebontik is here for his health?!?!

To clear up some things bout this post of mine, in lieu of reading the post by Sudager who so tactfully pointed out the faults in my post above, the differences between ITU and what he calls IVU. On my server, we refer to IVU as Invis to Undead, just as we call druid grp gates GG's and not TP's. Each individual server has its own little nuances, so bear with me. Also posted above in the closing section is that I am a MAGE. When I said a " soloists run " I meant as a mage of my like lvl.

Without the use of ITU, you can bring the 2 spectre like mobs to the second floor with you, if you havent cleared them first. If not, you can run them thru to the mirror, and have a 50/50 chance of them NOT following you. I have personally soloed most of this tower prior to 49, and have had every other time, the 2 spectres keeping me company on the second floor. ITU on the second floor, allows you to be able to walk thru to the mirror without being attacked, unless you step on the "trap" fallen bookcase in the left lower corner near the wall. I believe it strips your ITU, I havent tested this theory ( why should I? )

Now the 3rd floor, kitchens, I have conned most of the mobs along the way to the mirror and havent been aggro'd using invis. If your grp or you personally have, its news to me. My guild has done this many times using this method, and I havent heard any complaints. I dont go peeking in doors, or anything like that since most of the mobs on this floor arent worth the xp or the drops at my lvl. I zone in and head to the mirror.

4th floor, now here Ive always used invis, and run down the corridor to the fake wall, running thru that passage to cara omica's room. There using the mirror again to get to where I want to be. The wedding floor.

5th floor, Ive always used invis when im medding/scouting. I havent had it fail me, but then I dont go peeking my head into every room and cranny. I know what mobs I want as a target. So no real point in wandering around, especially solo.

Now I think you misread, what I was trying to post up, but I feel that the way you replied to my post was a little bit rude. What I posted was an OPTION not the ONLY way to do ToFS. As a mage of near my lvl, you will find it hard to find a grp that wants a mage in betwen 44 and 49 (which you can camp seafuries at 49 for GREAT xp) and DL gets hella boring. You mentioned a war and cleric holding keys, which refers to you having more then one person with you on your run. This post was for the soloing mage, who by other classes views ( and verants divine forsight ) is overlooked until 55, which is when we get CotH. Then, were put on the overlook list till the raid is over =(. A druid can use this post, a Necro, chanter, as well. Other classes im not sure, but im always willing to hear if it worked for you. Until then, Im a Mage, for the Mages, we watch our OWN backs (pets usually off starting a train somewhere)

Sorry if this sounds like a flame, it isnt meant to be.

Denial can be a strong thing. There is no 8th floor. Tserina is on the top floor of this zone. The floors are 1,2,3,4,5,6a,6b,7. There are several ways to verify this fact: 1. Port to loc 0,0,0 - in each zone at this location there is a small room with writing on the walls detailing the xyz coords for all significant places in the zone. The xyz coords are listed for floors 1-7. 2. Use the emulator. 3. Import the zone file into autocad. As much as people would like to think that there is some mystery to be solved they are wrong. The technical proof that such a mystery does not exists is overwhelming

sorry, but 0,0,0 in every zone is NOT a room with writing on the wall. ToV, Neriak Third Gate, are the only two zones I know of that are like this. How do I know this? cuz I used an emulator to explore some zones. most of the time, 0,0,0 is either the entrance (like ssra) or the safe point of the zone.

remember, in EthernalQuest, #zone <zonename> takes you to 0,0,0 by default.

All the method you listed are vaild. When brought up in showeq it showed 1,2,3,4,5,6a,6b,7 but there is two possable flaws in your theroy. One as already mentioned that it coud be its own zone, thus making it unseen unless your in that zone. Or two, It might not be implmented yet. The Lost elven city can't been seen by any of your methods, but we know it will be found some day, but more then likely it will happy on stomehammer first.

No, there really aren't any flaws in the previous poster's theory at all.

There may be an eighth floor someday (if ToFS is ever "revamped" like some zones have been) but there isn't now. All the geography of the entire game is in the zone files on your computer now (well, all of them for the original EQ and any expansions you have, at least).

ToFS eighth floor isn't in any of them. If you'd like to prove me wrong, please feel free to use an offline zone viewer to find it - but it's not there, trust me. ;)
RE: taken from safehouse
# May 25 2002 at 11:02 PM Rating: Decent
This would hold true if the 8th floor was part of ToFs, however you zone into the 8th floor you would have to goto 0,0,0 on the 8th floor to verify, can't be done without zoning in

taken from safehouse...

This was written on our guild email today...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tonight Omaji, Kolder and myself...along with a full group of people
uninvolved with our comings and goings were completely and utterly WIPED OUT
on floor six of TOFS by one mob. The beast is apparently called "a statue".
This I know because its name appeared in the chat window as it cast spells.

It could not be seen nor targeted, and therefore cold not be conned. It also
did not appear on track. I do not know if the name "a statue" was floating
above where it should have been...I didn't get a very good look. By my chat
window it nukes with an area-effect spell as the three of us were all hit at
the same time. The spell damage was 500 per hit and I'm not sure if there
was any melee damage from the mob as I was promptly nuked to death.

Two GM's rezzed everyone who died and apparently put the bad boy back in his
cage. I spoke to the GM who rezzed me in tells, and found out the following
information:

1. He said it was a bug. --- I take this to mean that this mob was somewhere
where it should not have been.

2. I asked him if it was a major bug or if it was merely something that has
yet to be discovered. --- He told me it was something yet to be discovered.
--- I take this to mean one of two things. Either "a statue" is SUPPOSED to
be there killing people...only not under those conditions (i.e. only spawns
after a yet-unfinished quest is completed); or "a statue" is not supposed to
be there but rather is meant to dwell at a different area of TOFS. This
leads me to believe he may be part of the 8th (or 9th if you prefer) floor
of the tower. I just found it VERY strange that on every web site I have
checked, there is NO mention of "a statue" in TOFS, and as the GM agreed it
is, "yet to be discovered".

Floor 8? An entry to a plane of PoP coming later this year? Could be
anything past the locked mirror on 7th floor. Never forget, the boss of this
tower is strongly connected to Mayone Mistmoore who is constantly involved
in lore dealing with The Sleeper. It makes you wonder.

If anyone finds any relevant info on this please let me know. I find it
quite odd, and even more interesting. Anyone know if "a statue" who AE nukes
for 500 exists anywhere else in game?
RE: taken from safehouse...
# Jun 02 2002 at 11:10 AM Rating: Decent
The statue is a rogue disarmable trap, not a bug, as far as I know. Went to TOFS yesterday for the first time and cleared to 7th, then again today with a few friends for another master key. The rogue with us the first time repeatedly said he was disarming the trap, and I have no reason to imagine he lied. Just take a rogue - I'm pretty sure its the statue of a dragon you see just over the stairs, assuming it hit you by the mirror to 6b like it did us.

Fun zone. Library is good AOE for level 30-40'ish, got a few levels with my lil' druid there... but yeah, I'm curious if anyone understands the mirror layout on 7... there appears to be one locked mirror which everyone is debating which none of the floor keys work on, but also another set of mirrors which would *seem* like they should take you to the appropriate floors... but dont ;)

Has anyone worked anything more sophisticated out for this one? Can you get back to the lower levels?

I been there enough times to know about yer statue... its wiped out the groups I have been in as well... If it wasnt for him pretty much the zones aint tough at all with about 2 groups (in case group one gets wiped...

We came to tofs. war43 monk45 wiz44 chanter39 dru42 dru38. Killed a couple of mobs and got the undead gnoll. Second floor. Killed about 10 things before she popped and got homework and key. Third floor went to the room where the drolvarg types are. Cleared room and after a while the key mob popped. Not out of another spawn. He spawned freely. Had no PH or something was wierd. Then 4th floor didn't got so far before some Pks came and killed us.

Concerning the spawn of enraged relative, in my own experience this mob has spawned more off other random mobs than off the undead golem. In about 6 spawns, I've only seen the spawn off the undead golem once. Most of these have spawned after killing a bridesmaid iirc.

Have seen the undead golem a few more times now, so it seems to even out. Today, right after I had already killed 1 enraged relative I killed an undead dancer which looked suspicious (male instead of female like usual) and indeed it spawned another enraged relative. Same pattern might apply to all mobs I guess (having 2 possible versions of themselves). Right afterwards I got my THIRD enraged relative off the undead musician (that was now female instead of male like normal).

A lot of good info here. I have spent the last two weeks in the tower and would like to add what I have found to work real well for us.

2nd floor - Kill librarian and her assistant. Kill all mobs down the left side on the way to hidden exit. This should spawn the angry librarian when you kill the last couple near the exit.

3rd floor - Usually a wandering armor or two right after entering. Go to right and then pull from kitchen, dining room, pool room, and finally bedroom. This is where we camped seeing that the exit mirror is in this room. Start pulling to this room until the maids respawn. The KH has spawned immediately after killing these maids, for us. As for having to kill the whole level... I know we have gotten the KH to spawn without killing the skeletons.

4th floor - You need to kill Amonpheta to get Cara to spawn. Not sure for precise way to find Amonpheta yet though. That is why I was reading here. : ) Going to try your suggestion on killing all the mummies.

5th floor - When we have been able to get access to this floor the KH has spawned after killing the wedding party. Make sure you pull out of the room or they will heal each other making for a real problem. Watch yourselves because this floor has a real fast respawn rate also. Would not be fun to get caught between the ushers and the wedding party. :0

Still have not been hunting above 5th yet. Always been camped when we were there.

Have fun and thanks for the information you started here. This is the kind of posting that should be on these boards.

Best post so far ;)

My experience to that:

1st floor:We totally wiped it 3 times and got 3 spawns of the keyholder. Repops on corpse of PH. 2 times on skeletons, 1 time on undead gnoll like thingies. Alsoe note that, I don't know for what this is, there is a skeleton that instantly respawns 3 skeletons upon death. We had the luck to have this skeleton in its own respawn so we had a lot to fight once ;)

2nd Floor
We have been there 2 to 3 hours killing everything. We were about to get out and call it a day but then we got the angry librarian at the last shelf where secret door to exit is located. Spawned on the remains of a student.

3rd Floor
3 rounds killing everything. First round Keyholder pops on remains of gnoll like servant or butler, can't remember (the only alone in the room). Second round poped on skeleton and 3rd round on gnoll like cook.

So far the 2nd floor is the most tedious camp.

Just my 2cp

Have Fun

This was a very informative post and thank you. But, I do want to clarify that you are NOT perfectly safe on 4th floor with regular invisibility. There are some of the undead mummies that can see through regular invis. I am not aware whether it is the onese that are slightly higher level or if it is the one that is PH for the named from this level, however, I can promise that multiple times I have encountered regular mummies able to see through regular invisibility, be careful.

the locked mirror on the 7th floor must be UNLOCKED. lets use this forum to try and find out how. in the booklet that came out with the trilogy eq set, verant mentions identifying tserrina's items and possibly solving the mystery of the locked mirror.

tserrina's robe: magically threaded with shadows
tserrina's symbol: omica the symbol of knowledge
tserrina's staff: tserrina's staff.

most of the stuff in the tower identifies. some of it pretty funny.

my belief is that the locked mirror is a quest that has yet to be discovered, and i believe it relates to the quest in stonebrunt mtns, spiritaid quest. tserrina always dropps the harnassed soul gem, PERHAPS, this can release a "soul" like the crytallized shadow armor or weapons.

not sure anyone has maxed their kejek village and peacekeeper faction yet.

who knows. lets figure this out.

I remember exploring Paineel for the first time with my shadowknight. As I haven't played in 6 months or so, I decided to purchase the local news from a vendor. The newspaper there mentioned something about evil dealings in the tower, something regarding one evil guy recruiting the aid from another, and something to do with the tower. This is vague, but somebody may make use of this information. Being an ogre, I have no desire to go into tiny Paineel with my shadowknight again to find the newspaper. Not unless I manage to get to the 7th floor.
Mirror Room...

I seem to recall partying one day in ToFS and going to floor 5 from floor 7. A Monk had all the keys and he took the process to do so. It was a long time ago though.

Now I have all the keys up to the key off Tserinna. I thought I could use the mirror room to go to any floor under the Tserinna's floor. But none of the keys or clicks I try in the mirror room do anything but zone me out of the tower.

Does anyone know if you actually can go to lower room from the mirror room? And if you can, how do you make it work?

Please post a reply if you know.

Took the Librarians on the 2nd floor with a 40 SK and a 51 DRU. Had group tp ready just in case.

Stood at the zone-in to 2nd floor and pulled with spells.

In an error of judgement, we rooted the assistant librarian and pulled the librarian. Unfortunately this almost got us killed because the assistant sat back and nuked us both down to 20 percent health. Thank god she ran out of mana when she did. Hindsight says we should have just let them run to us. (Never root a nuker... :)

Tanking them was cake though for the 40 SK. Just debuffed them, threw on DRU damage shield, snared them, and used the porcupine approach to dealing with multiple mobs.

After those were dead (both blue to 40 SK) we just picked students off one at a time. Killed teacher too. After about the 7th or 8th light-blue student kill the Angry Librarian popped. Easy kill again, dropped Students Homework and key to the 3rd floor.

Level?

What is a good level for a bard to start grouping in this zone?

I hit this zone like a mad fool starting at lvl 30. I only did the first floor though, and only did it for exp. At 30 though, you should be able to do the group thing up to the third floor or so, but bewarned about aggro. The second floor has a ton of casters that just love to nuke us bards. If you are interested in what I did to lvl from 30-35, check out my post at: http://www.eqdiva.com/guides/hunting.asp?cboHuntingLevel=30

Don't want to repost it here and waste other folks' time reading it.

excellent dungeon

This is rapidly becoming one of my very favorite dungeons. excellent layout, super exp and a whole lot of fun.

A note on Cara and the 4th floor. My guild and i spent a good week trying to get her to spawn. When the mummy who triggers her finally popped we killed her, looted her key and prepared to move to the 5th floor.

She popped again almost right away. Killed her again and prepared too move again. SHE POPS AGAIN.

Point being once you get her to spawn there is a good chance she will continue to do so rapidly.

I have Tserrina's key and have used it to get directly to the 7th floor. problem is, I can't open the locked door inside the mirror room. The only key that we have found that unlocks that one is the key that drops to give you NORMAL access to 7 (Large metal key that drops off Vhal`Sera).

Just wanted to let people know so they don't think that Tser's key is an automatic return visit. Still need to bring the other key(s).
Warning

Just a warning to any fear classes that are using the odd pathing on the first floor to fear things into the mirror and then kill it easy. The GMs look at this as exploiting, a bard friend of mine got warned about it just for being in the same zone (and floor) as another bard that was running around, aggroing 5 or 6 things and then twisting fear/dd songs while beating on their backs.

For those of you who don't know what the "fear" pathing ia about on the first floor, here's the rundown: Cast Fear, Spook the dead or Bard fear song and the mobs will run to the mirror where you zone in from. They will stay there and not move or fight back until the fear wears off or they are dead. Very easy to kill them that way. )

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with this setup. Is it exploiting? I say no. First of all, what can Verant do? Change the pathing? Not hardly. If you do that, then the mobs will just run somewhere else since the first floor is so small. Nerf fear in the dungeon? Why would a 33ish lvl skelly resist a Spook the dead or whatever? Doesn't make sense. Put higher lvl mobs down there? Again, why? This is a mid lvl dungeon at best and all the really good stuff is farther up.

I gained 6 lvls solo here with my Pally and had a great time. The loot is not bad, and the exp is terriffic. The only thing you really have to worry about is the 2 shades and the 3 skellies in the room with the slippery floor. What I did was root one of the shades and the other just came running. I Spooked him usually before he got in range to hit me and away we go to the door. When he was dead, all I had to do was get back in aggro range of the other and he was a goner just like the first one. After that, you can pull either from the left or right, the first two rooms. Shadowbones to the left and gnolls to the right.

As for the poster who said to kill everything on the floor to get the Large Undead Gnoll to spawn, this is incorrect. If you are just looking for the key, just kill Shadowbeasts. I have NEVER seen the keyholder spawn from anything else.

Again, other that completely changing the dungeon or posting a GM here full time (not hardly), There isn't a whole lot Verant can do about this.

BTW, you can fear kite on the second floor the same way. They just run to the mirror that leads up to the next lvl.

Have fun and don't miss this place.

I've gotten spawns off the skeletons, so either work - the skellies are easier if your group is a little underpowered
A great place for experience

I went through the tower last night. I am in 35 hell, so I was not expecting much. OMG! I got great experience here! I forgot exactly what time we started, but I figure our average was somewhere around a yellow an hour. In a full group.

As far as strategy, I would have to say, mobs here can be very dangerous. Adds can be nasty, especially when you get LOM. I actually got very good experience just in the library. The wedding room was also very nice. Unfortunately, I did not get any of the nice drops, but getting that much experience that quickly, I was still happy.

Now, as for the party composition:
51 Mage
44 Warrior
41 Shadowknight
40 Wizard
35 Cleric (actually he dinged 35 in the library)
35 Druid (me)

We were all grouped. Granted the Mage did not get xp in the lower levels, so we were getting PLed down there, but...

No one died (hooray!), and the mage was able to single pull for us. Several mobs there gave the mage experience, so it can be hard. Keep in mind though, we are all fairly twinked.

All in all, a great zone that was a lot of fun. I highly recommend this place. Just be very careful if you go. Have someone with an evac up.

Oh, BTW, we did go to level 6 (actually, could have been 7 - i lost track). There was an enraged vampire in the first room that hit me for 90 points of damage with every hit, and seemed like it was double attacking. We managed to kill it, but it had a LOT of hit points.

Luck to all!
