The Great Divide is a mountain range home to many types of creatures - kodiaks, a nest of crystalline wurms, and the Tizmak Clan to name a few. Also here are a large Kromrif outpost, the city of Thurgadin, the tunnel entrance to Velketor's Labyrinth, and a tiny portal to Bristlebane's Plane of Mischief.

Another mob: Coldain War Wolf
# Jan 04 2001 at 10:24 AM Rating: Default
While hunting coldain heads for faction, I met and killed this creature today. The Coldain War Wolf was green at 56, but hit pretty hard (70+ quite a few times) and was pretty tenacious. It looked like a very large dire wolf. It dropped a War Wolf Choker, a decent neck piece for most tank classes, AC 5 w/ +4 STR, wt. 2.0. I didn't take any ss's or loot shots, I didn't think it was that rare, until I talked to a few people and no one had ever seen one. Could have a more rare drop, who knows. It was roaming around near the river outside the Thurgadin waterfall where I was hunting.

Anyone know where to find the tooth for the great divide. This is needed to get a tp to the Great Divide.
RE: Great Divide Tooth
# Jan 19 2001 at 6:07 AM Rating: Default
It is right in front of the portal laying on the ground. Looks like a small grey spec. If you leave Thurgadin, instead of turning left and passing the black & red obelisk, turn right and head down the pass right beside the shardwurm caves and you will run into a portal ring with a dragon statue on it. Go inside and right in front of the portal itself the key lays on the ground. Looks like a tooth when you pick it up. Hope this helps friends.
RE: Great Divide Tooth
# Dec 21 2000 at 7:25 PM Rating: Decent
It is found in the center of the dragon ring in the west side of the zone. Laying on the ground. Another spawns a few seconds after it is picked up.
Blizzent
# Dec 21 2000 at 3:27 PM Rating: Default
I met a wurm today in Great Devide whos name was Blizzent and it conned very red to me at lvl 42. It seemed like it was haveing some problems moveing properly. It was walking into a maountain side by the edge of the zone then disapeared there and spawned in front of it a few secs later and sid the same again..
RE: Blizzent
# Dec 31 2000 at 7:19 PM Rating: Default
I've read that Blizzent is for a quest in Kael Drakel. need to have good faction with the giants.
RE: Blizzent
# Dec 22 2000 at 9:34 PM Rating: Decent
I saw it at the same place doing the same thing. I am a lvl 47 druid, and it conned blue to me. I would guess it is 45 or 46. Anyhow, I fought it and it dropped Blizzent's Fang which is a 2 hand peircing weapon the mundain stats. For the trouble, I would say it must be for a quest undiscovered as of yet. This guy was strictly a warrior with tons of HPs. I would have to estimate he had around 20k hp (might be more though). On a side note, when I fought him, his name was misspelled Bllizent, but the fang was spelled Blizzent (or was it the other way around?)

the npc u turn on the frost giant toes is the one u have to turn on heads but firsth u have to get a box from him after u have gave him the toes, the box will hold 10 heads that need to be convined to create a item gibe the itema and the item u get from toes to him in order to the item upgrade.

Drakkel Blood Wolf
# Dec 16 2000 at 9:01 PM Rating: Default
So far I've only seen one of these things and it conned yellow to me at lvl 35.

It hit for around 90 max and bashed for around 25, with bashes stunning me almost every time...nasty critter indeed.

Of course I couldn't kill it as I was soloing so I ran to the guards to kill it so I'm not sure what kind of loot it drops or where it spawns. Found it near the Spires..

RE: Drakkel Blood Wolf
# Feb 03 2001 at 5:54 AM Rating: Default
This wolf has about 3k hp. Takes 2 e-bolts plus pet and myself tanking it to kill it. Much tougher than the lvl 36-37 mob that it is. Root 'nuked' another, and it required 3 e-bolts, albeit a bit of overkill.

spawns in one of the caves with 2 crystaline shardwurms on either side...blue to a 51..think it is a cleric..has a LOT of HP..loves to complete heal itself. drops a really horrible no drop bracer (very forgettable stats, obviously) dont know if it has a rare drop, did not respawn in the 4 hours we were there. if this is its only drop not worth the trouble killing unless you are camping the room for exp. then you should kill it just so it will not cause trouble for you while killing crystalines
RE: shardwurm matriarch
# Feb 28 2001 at 3:37 PM Rating: Default
Was camping the Crystaline wurms lastnight, when the Matriarch spawned. She dropped a couple of level 44 spells, a Mithril Amulet (no stats) and Boots of Scale. Boots are abit like Lambent in color, but a much more deep rich blue color. They also have a design at top and across the front of the boots. Stats are AC 9, strength +5, +20 hit points. Wgt 3 lbs. Class: All pure melee but monks. Race: All but Dwarves, Gnomes and Halflings. Magic item, Lore.

This is a level 38 mob (Was always red to me at 35 and is now always yellow at 38) and he is located in the Kodiak cave under Velketor's Labrynth.

Drops are:

Icetooth's claw 11dmg 29dly (mainhand only)
Icetooths pelt ac5 str4 hp15 Large races only (back slot)

hes a fairly frequest spawn thats about once every 1-2hours and the Kodiak cave is ideal experiance for full groups of level 30-39. I hope this post was helpfull and everyone have fun in Norrath =)

Cons Blue to a 40 and a 48. Dropped the pelt first time and Claw the second time. has roughly 1400 to 1600 took 2 nukes of 600 and a little melee to kill. with an AC of 800 he hits in the high 90's

Saw a large group of 50th+ attempt to take her on. Took about 12 or so to do it. Melees were constantly on her then pulling back to be healed. Switching off. Took at least 30min to kill it. After all the time and effort they looted rabbit meat and some water. ;(
Unbelievable
RE: broodmothers
# Feb 28 2001 at 9:34 PM Rating: Decent
These things are just about impossible to kill. As mistrornge said, they have a very very high magic resistance, and are a total pain in the **** to kill. I watched a single group take one down, took a while. All that happened was warrior tanked, monk and rogue did their thing and casters sat back and buffed fighters and healed. Necro did land one or two dots, but thats about it. DO NOT TRY TO ATTACK ONE, not a smart thing to do
RE: broodmothers
# Dec 14 2000 at 9:30 PM Rating: Default
Last night, we took her out, 2 full groups 35-52 with a 28 ranger in to boot. Resisted all spells. Took 20 minutes to melee her to death, 3 of us died. She dropped NOTHING. She cons indifferent to all and does not move from her one spot in the back of a side cave. The Guardian shardwurms, if not camped by another group, will join in and they are casters. Broodmother appears to be level 50.

I've never gotten any faction message killing wurms. You can however raise your claw of veeshan faction by killing the various frost giants in Great Divide and Eastern Wastes. Of course you sacrafice your giant faction, useful perhaps for passing through Kael Drakkel...

Wurms

Another Warning to lower levels. These Wurms are out and roaming, and higher levels can and HAVE pulled them to the waterfall to kill them even though there is a larger plain for them to pull them too.
Like we ALWAYS ask, PLEASE higher levels, take your pulls to a SAFER area for ALL your level or BELOW.
I didn't bother to watch or anything, just saw the "elder shard wurm" and zoned into the city.

Just a curious question. What is your definition of 'lower levels' and if they are as low as I think you mean (ie 20s and below) what are you doing there? It's like me zoning into Sol B at 20th and expecting to live.
Dire Wolves
# Dec 07 2000 at 4:25 PM Rating: Default
FIRST be VERY careful to kill ONLY the WILD ones, and NOT the ones with a Dwarven handler. The Coldain Wolves WILL give bad faction in the new city, PLUS the handlers are WAY red (to a level 31 Mage, and I rather think red to MANY others). Of significant note, the pelts are MAGIC ITEMS, it remains to be seen what these pelts will make when tailored. I would like to see if they make magical armor, and is the quality of the pelt determinate of the stats they give when tailored.

i was here on my way to the city, but i was with a 40 wiz and others, we took down a few giants. the scouts were red with an occasional yellow at 32, but all blue at 40. They drop Velium weapons (like FS but supposidly dissapear when you leave velious) They have about the same stats as FS but proc Velium Shards, which is a 12-14DD spell. the one i got was the spear, it is 6 27. It sold for 4pp and change at the dwarf town (they con apprehensivly, forgot to try with sneak on).

Fennin Ro Server here, Level 31 Mage, and Level 30 Druid. These CAN and have been brought down by small parties of LOW 30's. Velium Weapons DO NOT, I repeat NOT disappear upon leaving the frozen lands. I took mine and "tested" it on a few WC spiders, I logged there and hunted a bit(tailoring supplies and the like) the next day, the Scimitar AND the morning star were well and truely there WITH the effect.
The area I hunted also had Dire wolves(NOT the city one, those have BAD city faction with them) that were undercons, BUT were good xp and first DAY dropped a pelt with EACH kill and a uncommon drop of armor(a belt in particular) with magical stats.

Green to a 50th, but has well over 20k HPs. I nuked and nuked and nuked. Team of 3 warrior types on him for over 10min straight. Dropped some crappy 7/30 claws/1h slash item. It was dropped by his un-named cave kodiaks around him. Had a "bloody gnome" near him that is under the iceclad pirates faction.

OK, not to add anything earth shattering but I was in a group a 43 monk, a 43 cleric, a 40 pally, a 42 wizzie, and myself a 36 warrior. Shortly after the battle started, the Pally went LD. I tanked, the monk and I melee'd, the cleric healed me when needed, the wizze mana dumped. Eventually the Pally logged back in and rejoined the fight (after reboot!). Total time was 15 mins for us to kill it (mostly through melee). It wants to run at 1/3 HP. We could also get no response from the bloody gnome captive. But boy did the monk and I have fun whacking it for 15 mins. I had turned 36 shortly before the battle and managed to max most of my stats...:) In group chat we were "counting" down the letters in Bloodmaw....."We're to the d! Yay!". All kinds of group banter. Basically a group that had met just for experience bonded durring the fight.

Would be nice if he dropped something, but lets wait to see what the darn quest is for.

Agreed. No regen. We let it sit since it appeared to get stuck in the wall in the hopes it would come out to attack us and not disappear in the wall at death. It was not regen any quicker then anything else I have seen.

Killed him solo with a 50 Necro. My pet bashed him into a wall and he did "try" to run at 1/3 rd health. He is not able to move though. Took me 20 minutes and 2 pets to kill him. Hits in the 80's and I would guess at 20k hps. He drops nothing (or did not for me). The BLoody Gnome Captive is part of a quest I am sure. I am going to check with the Pirates and see if they have any missing persons on their milk cartons.

he won't attack as long as you don't melee so sit back and keep nuking...he didn't drop anything either and the gnome just sits there....

A friend and I were exploring (56 and 57 Necro) and we came across these two (Bloodmwa & Bloody Gnome Captive).

We couldn't get the Gnome to talk so we killed Bloodmaw... he only hit max for around 80 (which seems low compared to the other greenies heh). We casually dotted him for 12k and pets tanked for 5-6 minutes... roughly doing 28-30k of damage. He didn't drop anything. =/

Gnome still wouldn't talk after, so we killed him (he has less then 88hp :p), and he gave us bad pirate faction.

Definatly not a monster regen, my group meleed him to death after the wizzy and the mage ran oom after mana dumping him. Let him sit a bit to try and pull him out of the wall, but his hp's barely moved. Hes kinda like that named turtle corodoth or something in iceclad.
Bloodmaw DOES have that many HPs

With multiple folks dotting, nuking, and pets whacking, HPs were steadily going down, but very, very slowly. It's not regen, it's HPs. Definitely.
