This is a stretch of frozen land which covers the northeastern part of Velious. In the east, a large ice bridge connects to the islands of Iceclad Ocean while in the northwest, a break in the mountains leads to the Great Divide. Kael Drakkel, the city of giants, sits in the southwest while a dragonhead portal to Sleeper's Tomb sits in the south.

Many factions have taken up residence here. There is a frost giant fort and a few Coldain outposts. As well, the Ry`Gorr orc clan is well-established here with a large fort (which also houses the entrance to the Crystal Caverns) and a few outlying camps. These are in addition to the area's wildlife: From the benign rhinos, mammoths, and snow bunnies to the highly aggressive griffins, manticores, and cougars; you'd best watch over your shoulder while hunting here.

There are changes brewing in EW, which I experienced first hand the other night.

Going to help friends kill Coldain, we went to teh Drummon Coldshanks camp. Lo and behold, Drummon is no longer there! In his hut are 4 bodyguards and a captain, all BLUE to me at 54!

This seems like good fun with a party level 51-54: 2 clerics, enchanter, warrior and me. So we pull.

Well, problem number 1 is that the captain and 1-2 of the bodyguards are immune to mez. Not just resisting, immune. Problem number 2 is that these guys have a ton of HP. Maybe not quite icewell keep level, but close.

Still we did OK. I kited a few around, rooted one, and we had the warrior on one with 2 clerics healing. Oh, and the chanter had 1 mezzed.

But as we started to run OOM, I decided it was time to be smart, and I kited the two that were following me to the giant fort. I am ally (maxed faction) to both Kromrif and Kromzek.

Imagine my surprise when the two Kromrif at the gate (ally to me) ignore the little buggers chasing me. It used to be that they would aggro on any Coldain. *Sigh* so I run inside the fort, to the building where the quest MOB for the Supply Delivery quest from Kael lives.

Ummm...guess what. The Krimrif Elites in this building are not ally to me -- they are KOS! WTF? So I now have a train of 2 Coldain and 4 Kromrif Elites on my tail.

I was able to make it to the GD zone, because the giants are (barely) slower than SoW. Three of my 4 friends ended up dying when mez broke and wouldn't stick back at the camp.

So, there is something really strange going on. New high level dwarves, Kromrif that are KOS to someody with ally Kromrif and Kromzek (and kindly Tormax) faction.

The key seems to be this NPC Peffin Ambersnow or whoever. She was in the building with the Kromrif Elites. Might be a developing plot here...
