The Western Wastes make up the northwestern part of Velious and are one of the most dangerous parts of the continent. Enemies of the Claws of Veeshan are best off coming here with a decent-sized party as you'll have your hands full with the dozens of roaming dragons and dragonkin.

Guardian-Air elemental

The air elemental is for the fusability quest. He's on a 5 day spawn cycle. Look it up on www.graffe.com and then under quests if you like. Very nice shoulder item.
Guardian Kozzalym a lev 53 Air Elemental

We were down by the water waiting for more ppl to show up to kill Captain for Bracer of Benevolence quest. The 55 druid w/us was invis and told us he saw a huge elemental go wandering by. Said it came out of the water an went right up the side of the hill to the top an came back down. We went to investigate and saw nothing. Few minutes passed and it came back. It attacked me (60monk) so I figured what the heck an hit auto attack. Had 55druid, 56monk, 60monk (me)and 58 shaman. Shaman was able to slow it but it was hitting hard still. We were able to take it down to about 10% of its hps before I had to FD and let the other monk tank. The druid and shaman were OOM from heal'n and shaman was cann'n for more mana. We killed it but it's very tough. Didn't try snare/kiting but it might have been possible since slow was landed first try.

Okay, I wasn't seeing things when the other day OMW to ToV a huge Air Elemental flew by me...didnt get a chance to target it.

Anyone know what this thing is for? Quest? I heard it is KOS no matter what your faction is with CoV.

# Oct 06 2001 at 2:04 AM Rating: Default
Just wondering, if a lvl 54 ranger could by chance get here and find a safe spot to pull any animals to fear kite, just looking for quick exp, and its hard to find blue animals anywhere else!
RE: animals
# Oct 06 2001 at 2:10 AM Rating: Default
Go ahead and laugh at me if you want to but...I know a few rangers/druids who HAVE hunted here, killing the wolves and mastadons. Fear kite them to death. Of course they were upper 50s levels, and of course, you need to be at least dubious with CoV...but if you know what you are doing, it can be done.
Crowded

Is this zone crowded?

hmmmm..

I was thinking I can go in here, walk around, touch no dragons, but loot the no-drop talisman that people may left on the corpse. Think it's possible? ...

Dragon Sage
# Sep 11 2001 at 4:17 PM Rating: Default
I found an npc named the dragon sage in this zone. He gave me a long history on norrath and talked about Veeshan and the the age of scale, etc. I talked to him for a while and he told me about a plant that dragons fear, but he gave me a coin to give to a Giant Tomekeeper and that he would know more.

Crazy Idea
# Sep 08 2001 at 11:57 PM Rating: Default
For all the high level guilds that like to kill the dragons there i thought up a cool idea. Make a char or have someone in the guild get all the talisman's so that you can have like a trophy case :)

dragons in this zone...don't be stupid
# Aug 28 2001 at 3:23 AM Rating: Default
Common guys, if you took 5 seconds to read the story, velious was where Veeshan slashed the world with her claw.

the claw marks can be seen in the ground in western wastes.

Now if a big *** dragon slashed a zone with her claws, thus creating the world, wouldn't you think that their would be dragons of some sort hanging around that "sacred" place?

Yes, as of August it still does... when my super guild At Deaths Door on quellious was raiding WW, Scout charisa was on track near the Tunnel from SG
Hope this helps for ya, but i don't have much more info as i didn't see it up-close and we didn't fight it.

personally i think that these level estiamtes are insane. for instance when you go into the temple of veeshan beastiary, there is no way of telling whether these things are level 63 or level 80. A level 60 player character can only con something that is lvl 62 or lower. after that everything is red. the only other way to tell what level things are past 62 is to use spells. if a level 60 wizard casts ice comet on klandicar and it is not resisted yet klandicar still cons red its narrows its level slightly. we would then know that it is between level 63 and 67, and most of the time you wouldnt be able to do this because most things at that high of a level would most likely be completely magic resistant. im not quiet sure why i wrote this, but i was probably just sick of looking at beastiaries and seeing all this lvl 65 and lvl 70 bull sh*t. anyway it doesnt really matter when most people would be using at least 2 groups to take the "lvl 70" dragons down.

program showeq uses the files from the game to give stats on mobs and stuff. erm...and lvl 70 dragons require a lot more than just 2 groups to kill them with. =/

not all of the lvls are accurate, but most of the lvls here seem to be about right. gl in your gaming.

My guild has been raiding WW for awhile now we on ToV faction which means we can only kill a few dragons per raid then head to kael to fix it up. This is very handy seems to reduce adds significantly. We have a standing rule of kindly faction or better to attend these raids, no sense in taking unneeded faction hits. My advice here is make sure all groups have a druid/wiz with succor it lands you very close to the sg enterance. I worked with another druid charming dogs/mammoths so we pretty much had a pet at all times very effective to buying time or sending in to own a dragon. One mob that needs to be watched for is the ice burrower very nasty critter drops some nice monk armor though. Good luck taking him down he hits in the 500+ range destroyed my mammoth in melee round i didn't stay long after.
/agree if that ebay n00b knew anything about the high level end game camping is a huge part of it. Only reason you don't camp is to buy the clerics enough time to camp out first. You'll learn that when ya have your first 9 10 hour CR.

Other mobs

Some other mobs I saw in the zone not on this list.

The Dragon Sage - a very white high elf. Didn't respond to hails.

Gnomish pirates - on the shipwrecked gnome boat.

This is OVERKILL of the dragons. We don't want dragons anymore. We want crazy looking demons and medusa and 4 headed giants. Give the dragons a rest, they're getting old. They're all the same, and those talismans are such stupid loot for such high guys. BTW, these dragons look pretty dumb.
RE: Hoboy
# Nov 03 2001 at 9:05 AM Rating: Default
Dunno, I kind of like the zone... And the talismans are great loot.. Only need one group to kill 90% of the mobs in that zone so for how easy the zone is I'd say all of the loot that drops there is rather nice.

Questions
# May 22 2001 at 12:49 AM Rating: Default
Two quick questions:

1) Do they only AoE once they begin to melee, or can the AoE anytime after they've been aggroed, such as when you are pulling them?

2) Which mobs in this zone are faster than SoW?

Thanks. )
couple questions
# May 21 2001 at 7:02 AM Rating: Default
does anyone know if these dragons have the same type of regen that naggy, vox, and kunark dragons have I.E. 400-600 per tick?

Also, I see that they are not imune to magic, does that mean they can be slowed by a shaman/chanter?
