Iceclad Ocean is where you'll find the Icy Fingers -- a chain of small iceberg islands, along with a massive ocean which separate the continent of Velious from the other continents of Norrath.

This area is home to a group of Gnome explorers from Ak'Anon; Tserrina's magnificent Tower of Frozen Shadow; a small representation of the Kromrif frost giants of Kael; and the Snowfangs, a clan of gnolls in constant battle with the turtles of the ocean, Lodizal and Coruduth.

Quad-Kiting
# Apr 27 2003 at 9:15 PM Rating: Default
I have heard from other sources on the internet that when you receive your first quad-kiting spell at 34, that quad-kiting cougars is a good place to fight. Do you think that quad-kiting these things right now is a good idea for me (it seems they have a low level range)? Or where else should I fight?

Thanks in advance.

I took my young druid here ar 34, but I didn't hunt cougars. On the island where you port in, exit the portal and head right to the ocean edge.
Turn right again and follow the edge until you reach a large iceberg to your left, with a large, open space on a hill to your right. The iceberg is a safe place to med, and at the top of the hill are dire wolves-a lot of them. I quadded these bad boys until level 42-snare, group them up, head to the ocean's edge and follow it, nuke until dead. If you get an add, root and snare it, you can come back for it later :)

what the hell happened to respecting peoples "camps". ok, technically there are no "camps" in EQ, but technically youre an *** if you jump someones "camp".

Stormfeather, as many of you know, spawns here occasionally. He is imo the WORST camp in EQ... he is a 19 hour + or - 2 hour window spawn, with a 60% "i dont feel like showing up" rate. So in english, he pops an average of 2 to 3 times a week.

let me reitterate, THIS CAMP SUCKS!!!! oh, so you camped raster? cry me a river bitz. atleast in LGuk noone tries to KS raster. as of right now, i have been KSed 4 times on stormfeather. this is rediculous.

i actually caught one out , where in /tell he admitted that he and his 3 lvl 60+ friends had infact come to KS me, and i reported and petitioned immediately, and the guide seemed willing to help.... well the guide got there too late, and bumped the petition up to a gm. i was told to keep re-petitioning it. about a week later, this worthless GM admin prick tells me "well there is really nothing i can do. if i had proof (jackass i sent in report and petition)
i could take the item away from them, but since you didnt actually kill the mob, i can not give you the map piece"

MOTHER OF GOD!!! if they hadent manaburned and had a lvl 60+ rogue and war beat the **** out of it, id hope a lvl 55+ SK could take on a lvl 34 bird.

so the point of this caffiene induced rant is this: to KS is wrong and is even said so by GMs between their coffee brakes and incessant "we cant help you because we suck" speaches, but show some goddamned respect. if someone has taken many many hours to camp a mob, dont think youre someone special and therefore deserve it more. get in line azz.

Not that I don't agree with you. But the Enchanter Epic mobs in Cabilis, Neriak 3rd Gate, and Fear are some of the longest camps in the game 2-7 Day(at least 2 days up to 7 last I heard. spawns. And they are ksed. Not to mention the SK epic hide from hate which is something like 1 in 400 or maybe its a 1 in 200 drop.
30 druid killing cougars?

Would a 30 druid be able to kill cougars here? How about with KEI? My wisdom is pretty good, 208 I think. I've tried a lot of other places to solo, Gnolls in SK, crazed goblins in BB, and I was wondering if this might be a good place to try and solo

Kromrif Wolves - BAD DOG! - No treat for you!
# Oct 03 2002 at 9:15 PM Rating: Decent
Well, I learned the hard way to check out this Beastie Guide occasionally today. Level 55 Druid now and had not been in IC for some time (may have been 2 months?) and decided to pop back in for a look see this morning (of course when I only have 20 minutes for a quick hunt).

I assumed all would be green but lo and behold tracking showed 2 DB mobs I’d not seen before. Kromriff tracking wolves. Hmmm, me thinks, wolves – easy pickins for a druid, no?

After killing the obligatory number of darned dervishes that aggroed me just looking for the wolves I saw what I thought was one in the distance near the bridge to EW. Time to die puppy, Snare and Fear loaded and I’m ready to kick wolfy butt! What a nasty surprise!

As mentioned below, no snare, no root and I was down to 30% by the time I knew what hit me. I’ve got 2 very angry doggies right in my face and they are chewing me up so fast I decide I need to run as I won’t last long enough to cast a fear (which I read would have been useless anyway). Chased me clear down to Tower of shadow island. I got enough distance between us to cast gate (which was unstable and collapsed thank you very much). Out onto the ice flows where the Snowfangs (who I KNEW did not like wolves) join in. One gets in a lucky stun hit and that allows the Kroms to close for the kill. Fortunately the body was actually on a little iceberg and not under water.

As mentioned elsewhere the wolves seemed to remain with the body – still there when I got back. I’ve wondered about this as some mobs seem to just track back to wherever and others remain. These pups appear to guard their kills. I don’t know if they can see through camo but I was able to inch in enough to retrieve and pull corpse away. They were still there after my rez (thank Tunare there was a level 60 cleric up the hill camping Lodizal).

Think I’ll steer clear of these pups in the future.

As a side note: Am I just experiencing this phenomena for the first time because it is only higher level MOBs or have movement spells been nerfed? I seem to be encountering more immune to snare and root spell MOBs (Potamieds in Jagged Pine and 2 different Named Poachers – 1 in Tox and 1 in EK) in addition to these “wonder dogs”.

Kromrif dire wolves cannot see through camo. They hit VERY hard and fast. My 47 ranger zoned into Iceclad on the bridge to a pack of 4. Needless to say, I didn't last long (a few seconds). I returned to my corpse in about 15 minutes, and they were still hovered over the body.

One group of 55+ can easily take Lodizal, I have seen as little as 2 people take Lodizal down. And rumor is a Necro has been soloing him.

Lodizal hits for about 300, just slow him and he's turtle soup.

Just a FYI was told today the kromrif dire wolves pop as part of 8th shawl. have to escort some npc through zone and the kromrif dires are some of the mobs that pop. are in lvl 53-55 range. and yes they summon. had one summon me 8 times everytime was with int 2-3 steps of EW. it stayed on bridge at corpse for hours. however if have strong enough group. was told they can drop some really nice claws. are 10/20 10cha 10int 20hp 40 mana and a few other stats with prob wandering mind. is equipable by int casters, uber item but would hate to take on the wolf. for a "chance" at the claws

The Kromrif Tracking Wolves are level 51. The Kromrif Dire cons red at 51 as posted earier. Both types are immune to snare (immune not just resist) and panic animal. Also, if you cast on the Dire it triggers Tracking wolves to spawn on the bridge to EW. I saw about 4 of them spawn on the bridge as I was running from the Dire. The Tracking wolves hit me for max of 142. I didnt stick around to wait for higher, hehe. Dunno what they are for but they are pretty new. Good Luck if you wanna single pull them because they are also immune to Harmony. Ain't that a kick in the teeth.

Wanted to add that they also see through Superior Camo. I spent a while checking these guys out.

Campin Lodi with my 56 ranger, saw 'elder spearguard' on track; never seen him before. He was right near one of the 2 gnoll huts. Conned light blue. He had one of those little doll totem thingys in his hand.
Figured i didnt want to take a chance on him being a shaman, so i loggen in my 58 monk (was was parked at SF camp grrr) ran over and started beatin on him. He conned green to me at 58 and he had a TON of hp and/or high regeneration. It was a long fight (got 2 Thunderkicks in). The most he hit for was 80 and he cast no spells.

They're still there. I guess they decided to make my easy run from IC to EW more of a challenge. They are red to me at 39 (not surprising), started with 1 on track, by the time I came to the bridge, there was at least a dozen or so on track, barely made it to zone. So are these pleasent little guys here to stay, cause I sure hope not.

This wolf is yellow to a lv 53, so lv 54 or 55.
There are also 3 other named wolves at the bridge to ew, called Kromrif tracking wolves, all dark blue at lv 53.
They hit for 161 and are immune to changes in its running speed. Lv probably around lv 50.
All of them are were ready to attack. I guess they have same faction as the Kromrif.
They do not see through invisibility.

Human male, cons apprehensive and blue to 41 halfling druid.

Any ideas if he is for a quest or something? Couldn't get any further response from him.

Portals on the icebergs?
# Feb 25 2002 at 6:19 AM Rating: Default
was REALLY bored... so i decided to follow the chain of icebergs from the dock (with soulbinder) tonight. i ran and ran and ran, and finally came up to something that looked odd. it was just an outcropping of rocks, but my poor ole video card was having some probs, so it was flickering.

from a safe distance, i clicked on it, and it said 'you cant reach that, get closer.' i found two of these outcroppings on my lil journey, and was kinda afraid to get too close. i know EW has a portal to the sleepers tomb, and i didnt want to find out the hard way that no key is required on this one.

so i ran back to the dock, logged, and looked on the map here, but theres no mention of these...things.....whatever they were.

anyone have any clues?

#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 21 2002 at 9:53 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Dont go into It. It's a portal to veeshan at least it was for me. But I go into it being a currious monk. So I enter it and it loads me to ToV right infront of a big big big dragon I dont recall his name I was only alive for 10sec then dam it hits me for like 800 or something... and I was almost dead. then another hit for 200. So all I got to say is unless you want to go to ToV then dont do it.

How to kill the little turlte...
# Nov 10 2001 at 1:46 AM Rating: Default
It's easy to kill the little turtle...he's level 1 with a ton of hp and hits pretty hard.

Take your local necro to IC, have him summon a pet. Either have sow on or jboots work better because sow will not outlast the health of this thing.

Attack the little turtle with the necro and start running. For some reason he never aggros the pet.

If for some reason he depops, he has returned to the spot under the ice. Head back to him and he will still keep aggroing.

I found it's best to just run in big circles till the pet kills him off.

I think it took 45 minutes to finally kill him, and he dropped nothing. This was last spring when we did it, btw. Things with aggro may have changed on him since then.

I say a Turtle on an small piece of Ice in IC that conned green to me at 33. I think to myself, hey never saw this before, i should kill it :P. BTW it conned indifferent.

Well I start to hit it, and the next thing I know i have been hit 4 times for between 60 and 90 each, after one more round of quad hits i have yet to land a blow, so i fire up selos and run screaming to the GD Dragon bridge.

I never tried to use any of my damage songs (didn't think i would need them) so i am not sure of the MR on this thing, but i'd say he is definately underconned.

Can't remember the name but it was similiar to lodazil, but sice he is lvl 60 i doubt it was him.

Has anyone else ever seen this mob?

Doh! just found him on the beastiary.
