The Jaggedpine Forest made its debut on July 24, 2002. It is home to a clan of Darkpaw gnolls, visitors from Qeynos and Surefall, as well as a host of many animals, most of which are very aggressive and sometimes difficult to see in the thicker regions of the forest.

I have heard of this type of event happening in other zones but never really understood what was meant by a statement like this: "There is a war that can result in the town being occupied by Gnolls, so camp elsewhere"

Can someone please explain this to me?

I believe what is meant is do not assume that because there are guards that will protect you at an encampment for an extended period of time, and feel safe to log off there. When you log back on, you might find your 'safe spot' of friendlys replaced by unfriendlys who destroyed the previous occupants of the encampment. Where upon you may quickly find yourself near death with 5 mobs disliking you before you actually even get fully logged onto your chr.

A good example of a 'war' zone is Holloshade Moor in Luclin. There are 4 camps total there, each being periodically taken over by another. There is a Cat-people encampment there near the city zone that I have yet to see taken over, but i have heard that it does get taken over at some point. If any of the other 3 tribes (Grimling, Owlbear, Sonicwolves) were there on my return, it would pose an inconvenience.

it sounds like something similar to the hollowshade war, in which the owlbears, wolves, and grimlings can all take eachother's towns. not sure how it works or if it's like the rockhopper cave in dawnshroud, but i know it can happen.

IF you kill a named gnoll the fort will become occupied by gnolls. For how long I don't know.
What ranger would kill wolves, bears and panthers anyways(all con amiable).
To build some easy faction head over to the poacher camp and whoop up on some poachers. Cleared the camp 20 times or so and am no amaiable to the JP residents. I have heard to get your faction up higher you will need to kill Darkpaws as well.

My dark elf cleric wants to know, who got totally non kos in surefall and now has to do it again in this new zone (especially since they dumped 2 npcs in surefall evidently on jagged pine residents = ( )

Or can you never raise the bear, panther and wolf faction? Right now they are threaten which makes the zone hard to run around.

Oddly enough:

Treatns are dubious
Dryads are dubious

Anchorite of brell (brell gnolls) are apprehensive (same as for my woody druid)

Griff is threaten like druid (when not in wolf)
Npcs at the "town" are threaten.. but the guy at port in is dubious.

Potimieds are scowl.
This is all with dark elf cleric innoruk diety (of course ;) )
