The nice thing about this spell is that in the mist of combat you don't have to take time casting your resist debuff on the mob. You can cast the trap while the mob(s) are being pulled (if in a party) or before you pull. I don't know about other shamans, but in combat I am non-stop casting and freeing up casting time is a plus for me.
The bad thing is it does not last very long. The trap auto triggers and eats up its charges quickly. So for long fights you would need to recast which means you don't really save that time, you just move it from the start of the fight to mid fight.

This spell works great for PLing casters.I go to CoM and find a clear area to camp.usually the skellys to the left as you head in.**** out and idol and pull like 10 mobs and have my caster cast AE spells on the mobs.Works like a charm.
Other than this use i have posted,there is no other use that i know of for this aura thats not really an aura.
I could complain more about it but:
A.Atleast we have one.a couple classes dont have one at all.Most likely due to the break neck speed in which they come out with new expansions,they didnt have time to finish it.
B.I have to laugh at the unintended result.
C.Does anyone read this stuff?
BTW.this idol has a limited number of casts.it casts every tick for like 10 ticks then poofs.I assume it only casts when something is in its range so if you fight a mob within its range you have to recast after every mob.I guess you could run out a bit and put it away from the camping area and have the puller pull thru it then to camp but anything that might wander by may catch its out range.Whew! that just seems like alot of work.

I played with the tiki looking spell today.
Basicly it as it says a trap, when activated it does an AE malo cast, which is half the distance of a normal cast.
In my group it worked well under controlled conditions (1 or 2 mobs) but when our SK pulled 4 they all agroed me and we wiped.
When your tank pulls and don't have agro on him/her and your idol trap AE malo the mob(s, they will agro onto you.
Note: Also when you /pet leader the tiki it tells you "I follow no one"

got this spell the other day for my shammy ... summons a small statue (idol) that when the mobs move into its range (havent figured out how large it is yet) they get malo'd. mission is given by the ghost lilthill'yan in the Ruins of Takish-Hiz quest is "chalice of life" reward is a belt for casters and cape for mele along with spell

Spell is from a Quest in the new zone off of south ro.
