Game Description

Afflicts your target with a hungry toxin that will cause @1 damage. The venom will attempt to absorb energy from the creatures that can sometimes be controlled to give a temporary increase to the power of your duration damage spells. However, there is also a chance that the energy will backfire and cause the power of your damage over time spells to drop for a short time.

Not worth keeping loaded, imho

I've been fiddling with this spell for the last few days.

The DD component is nice, but very spendy at 568 mana... 0.o

It is regularly resisted.

The recourse, though very nice and powerful, only pops in maybe 1 in 8 casts.

Overall, it is a net negative, imho. You can't rely on this spell and it is very mana inefficient.

Lasts for hits more often than fixed time

One thing people don't mention (unless it has changed recently or I'm totally wrong) is that the Chaotic Power recourse only lasts for 25 hits and not a fixed 60 seconds. So if you have 5 dots stacked and then you get the Chaotic Power, it will only last for 5 ticks. It will last for up to 10 ticks, so as long as you have 3 dots on a single mob you'll get the full effect.

Additionally, there is a spell level cap for Chaotic Power, tied to the level of the Blood spell that procs it. For example, Call for Blood's Chaotic Power begins to lose it's effectiveness on DoTs over level 70.
resists?

so how often does this resist ? worth even getting?
My observations

I just got this spell last night and after some limited testing in Tirranun's Delve, I observed the following:

1) You probably want to cast this AFTER you have stacked several dots on the mob. This maximizes the benefit of this spell.

2) I have some more testing to do, but I never got the effect to proc more than once on any 1 mob. Even with repeated (3-5) castings. As soon as I cast on a second mob, the effect proced.

3) Dot crits were up to 4k on dark nightmare, so DPS is noticeably improved.

This spell is obtained from a series of quests given by Jarzarrad the prophet in Undershores (DoD)

Any helpful location of spell would be much appreciated.
I love this spell

I thought this spell would be useless but I'm glad I got it and actually keep it in my spell gem at all times. It procs quite often and have only seen it backfire once. When it backfires it only lasts for 12 seconds (2 ticks) as opposed to a 1 minute duration when it works. The crits can be insanely high when the spell procs. It's definitely worth getting because it has the potential to increase dps substantially.
where do you get it

Why does this spell exist
# Sep 22 2005 at 6:41 AM Rating: Decent
What would make someone want to get or even use this spell over Acikin. It is more mana, less damage and same resist check but higher level so less focuses work for it hrmmm.
Not to mention its Evocation vs. alteration.

Why does this spell exist

This spell can hit harder than Acikin 5kish with the right aas ect If it does the recourse spell then some of your dots will do double damage 4500 for dread pyre for example
Dont know many Necros who use Acikin now except maybe Hanvar because spell is to slow
Reverse recourse is very rare

yes, this spell has nice recourse effect of damage increase, but also has the chance of making dots do less damage

Very handy for destroying mobs that CH. Nuke a couple times and pow, in your short term buff window get the magic dark heart. Watch dot damage go thru the roof. Seen mobs in the nest drop 20% in one tick w/ all dots on.
