Song Question
# Jun 29 2004 at 8:32 PM Rating: Decent
With the lower level charm, level 27 Song of the Siren's, once you have the mob charmed, you can no longer sing the song on it, so you have to wait for charm to break to re-charm it. With this song, does anyone know if you can keep singing the song on the mob, even after it's made into a pet?

Thanks

Its a one minute duration with a magic resist check every tick. (charm is fairly hard to resist). If you are having early breaks with a particular type of mob, you need to equip a wind instrument when casting so when it does land (more likely to land with higher charisma), it will be more likely to survive the susbsequent resist checks because the magic resist debuff will have been higher because of the wind mod.

Level limit is your level with a max level of 51. Pretty big gap between this song and the 64 charm (that goes to lvl 57 mobs). A new charm song is slated for Omens that will charm mobs to 64 (current value on test), but with a reduced casting range to limit swarm kiting, I suppose. We will have to see what form it exists in in its final release.

You dont keeping singing the song on it. It remains your pet for much longer then your first song, but is still random length like other charm spells.

make sure that you pay attention to your mana usage on this one. it sucks to go oom when your shardwum-pet decides to bite the hand that feeds it.

55 is probably not correct as the level cap for this. I've been fighting in Natimbi and have had messages telling me that the dark blue mob I'm trying to charm is too high for me to charm. At level 53 that would mean the level cap is probably 50-52. Just fyi, I've gotten that message on dblue restless souls, warfiends, and the nok's (werewolf looking things).

***EDIT***
Oh, one more detail. At 52, some of the souls were white cons and I got the "too low to charm" message on MOST not all of them. Some were yellow cons and I got the message on ALL of those. I know, being a melee type character has some effect on what things con, but I'm not sure what's making some white cons low enough to charm and some too high to charm. They all seem to be melee npc's so it's not a class issue.

If I remember right, Solon's Bewitching Bravura [SBB] which lasts only 15 seconds (seemed I had to charm twice during one fight to keep the mob as a pet, will only effect mobs of level >=37.

When you get to your 39th string you have a spell which lasts an entire 18 seconds. *Wipes brow* Solon's Bewitching Bravura allows to charm up to >= 55 level mobs.

When you hit your 60th jam session, you'll start noticing that you can't charm much and will be handling mezzes. Of course, you don't want to be mezzing all the time, because you would rather be swinging your maces and swords around. Well, you're in luck, because at the same level Paladins begin to see they can no longer pacify. Bards end up being pullers in the high end with their Silent Song of Quellious [61 level song] which pacifies nearly all mobs up to 65. The only time you'll be mezzing is when you get a critical resist to your SSQ.

At 64 you can acquire a tune which will allow you to charm mobs =>67. This song is known as Call of the Banshee and can be found here, where the level of charm is still debated [https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=3371].

Enjoy your crowd control, and don't forget your riot gear.
