I don't think the amount of faction gained is accurate, or perhaps wind instruments do NOT increase the faction gained. My bard had just made Warmly to a faction, singing this song with 160% wind instument mod, he was STILl only Warmly. He's lvl 78 by the way, even without the mod according to the faction gain he should have bumped up to Ally? Anyone have any more accurate info on this song?

Not necessarily. Your character will have modifiers due to race/religion with certain factions. For example, nearly all (if not all) of the Cabilis factions have heavy negative modifiers to all non-iksar. What this means (and, please, if I am mistaken, somebody please correct me) is that the maximum that you can possibly get your faction to with them is very possibly LESS than Ally. That is, from wherever your faction starts with a given group, you can only raise it so far from that starting point. I don't know how many faction hits this is... maybe 1000??? In any event, if, for sake of argument, let's say your race/religion starts off with a -500 faction modifier with a given group. Then no matter what you do, the maximum you can get your faction to with that group is 500 less than max. ally.

Again, I might be wrong on this, but I think this is how faction works.

If your bard wants to try it out, do this: go kill some more mobs that produce positive faction hits with the group with whom you just recently made Warmly. Do this until you get the message: "Your faction with <xxxx> could not possibly get any better!". Then, go /con a member of that faction (without singing the faction-increasing song) and see if they still only con Warmly. If this is the case, then you have your answer.

Similiar situation but not using this song. I was max faction possible for OT as a Tunare Woodelf . Which is indifferent. I used the clickie that has the enchanter spellon it https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=5695 . This song at the lowest lvl is 20 more faction that the previous item mentioned .so he might be right. I went from Indifferent to Amiable and was able to get my OT hammer.

As of July 2006 this song can no longer be used on any NPC merchants I have tried in various cities. It appears to only work on SOME Quest NPCs. I have no idea what the reasoning was for this aside from nerfing a Bard's ability to USE one of their songs for anything practical.

I believe this was a side effect of them making a whole bunch of guild leaders, merchents and certain quest npcs 100% non-agro. The idea, I believe, was to stop folks from accidentally attacking them and getting either themselves killed, or the npc killed/displaced resulting in yet more people complaining they aren't able to find them. Sony probably made the change, listened to which of the newly affected npcs needed to be agro some reason, and then manually changed those ones one by one. Consequently there are lots of fun and useful tricks you can't use any more. For example rooting two npcs by a forge while you tradeskill, training a banker to the zone out so so your kos buddies can bank, and of course using the faction spells on vendors.

can this affect members of your group or only the faction vs the playing bard?
How good?

How much faction is needed per level of increase?? IF this does 710 at 70, lets say 650 at lvl 65. So 650*4.0(decent wind instrument with IIM)= 2600 extra faction... not bad.
wind can be singing

All bard songs you get can be used by singing... Any instruments are able to be replaced by singing...

Not true, the invis song, and higher level Occlusion of sound songs MUST have an instrument equipped... probably a few more, but this isnt one of them.

Absolutely right.

Shauri's Sonorous Clouding is listed as using a flute as a reagent (Allakhazam's way of saying you require a wind instrument to play it).

my questions ?__?|||
# Jan 09 2004 at 12:03 AM Rating: Decent

for years i'd used this song ONLY when i bought from NPC merchants and dealt with certain quest-givers. i was SO WRONG! it deserved better. a guildie just showed me how to play it to the mobs expecting us after we zoned into Grieg's End so that they wouldn't aggro on us.

She couldn't even say for sure whether all mobs in GE belonged to the same faction, but her song worked very well. and, seemingly, every mob conned "ready to attack" in the first place became "dubiously" in one tick. impressive.

We arrived at the intended camp spot safe n' sound.

now the questions:

as far as i can remember, if you keep moving away from your target after activating the carillon, you will be told that the target is out of range, and the charismatic effect gone. does that mean i have to re-play the song as many times as it takes when passing by multiple mobs (even if they're on the same faction)?

and how does it work in zones other than GE?

ANY related info will be highly appreciated. thanks.

I played it when I first entered Katta (at 16!), and went from indiff to amiable. Played Selo's went around town - and was still amiable, yay!
