Use your Illusioins on pet
# May 30 2009 at 7:55 PM Rating: Decent
If I am in a group with a tank I cast Werewolf (Boon of the Garou) on the tank and Imp on pet. If I am soloing with pet or in group where pets are tanks I cast Werewolf on my pet. Nice Lifetap proc to help keep pet up, not counting the Wolfs buffs.

The other benifit is the pet then acts as normal pet with Attack, Guard, Back etc buttons. I have assist hotbutton with a /pet attack line that allows pet to attack automaticlly.

Pet's DPS
# Oct 19 2006 at 1:51 AM Rating: Default
Long word short---pet's DPS is 48.5...
I am still surprised with noone else post this pet damage output so far.
I usually 3-box with Ranger+ENC+CLE,and pet is always behind the mob to get its full power melee.I record about 30 mins of foghts with those 65 Murkglider in WoS.Ranger tanks and pet hit from behind. The only buff pet get is ENC Haste.Parse the log using EQCompanion,it turn out this pet's DPS is around 48.5.Not great but still some damage
buffs

When I use my pets, I treat them like a group member, mainly b/c I duel box, but even in a full group I buff it up too. Some mobs have DS and that can kill a pet or hurt it so it dies on enrage. So a pet with ConV, DS, and regen can be a lot more helpful than many of you give it credit for (naked buffs).

With Synapsis Spasm and slow, it also reduces the damage the pet will take if it gets aggro. I usually try to get hit once (thank you Ethereal Rune) in order to engage pet since I don't have the AA's yet. That is easy if you use root aggro, or have a tank that can steal aggro real fast and knows you want to be hit, so you go up and tash mob and sit at his feet, then tank takes over.

I do this many times and usually do not even loose my rune since the mob is crippled and slowed, I get hit just once, and not full force. I only have it tank briefly if tank has to back off for a heal due to low hp.

I drives me nuts when I play a healer and the enc in the group does not have a pet up. It can mean the difference of getting a fast heal to land in time or not, if the pet stalls the mob for even one hit. Enc that under estimate their pets die more often IMO, and make it harder for the group healer to save them.
Chanter pets
# Oct 04 2005 at 9:21 PM Rating: Decent
Chanter pets are indeed useful. Just out questing about, doing epic crap, i used mine all the time. Keep something like bedlam or uproar loaded to prolong his invisible, pointy-headed little life, haste him up (I just happen to be married to a lvl 65 shammy who comes with me everywhere I go, so that kind of helps), and between him and arcane rune, you're going to live alot longer, and do alot more damage. Invisible dude being up can be the difference between you living and being able to gate out, and your untimely demise at the hands of a gang of brigands who just love to stun. Now if I only had Animation Empathy...

And because Xaanru has deemed it so , from this day forward a 7.8k tank is never to be called weak again.

Why do you people make stupid comments that really have nothing to do with the post in such a manner that even sony programmers take a back seat to your extensive uber everquest knowledge and tactics.

The pet is great , I found him really good for tanking old world mobs and most importantly he looks fun
You cleric was fine, ive seen the exact same thing in alot of omens of war zones, sometimes its not just all about hit points.

Vs. Charm
# Jan 11 2005 at 12:10 PM Rating: Decent
I'm curious as to why we still dont get any decent buffs for our animations. Haste is ok, but even the mage wants us to cast it on HIS pet. Where is our burnout-esque pet buffs. I would totally give up charm for a pet I can buff myself. Charming on a PvP server anyway is a no-no. One Cancel magic and you WILL get eaten by your pet and the mob you were killing with it.
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 10 2004 at 5:50 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i like the level62 pet better guys.. this pet is worthless... he hits for 75.. OMG woohoo 75 whole points of damage dont waste a rune on this worthless pet please.
RE: dude
# Mar 13 2005 at 11:27 PM Rating: Default
Cloud of Indifference, Synapsis Spasm are not worthless. Well... The Synapsis Spasm might be. I wouldn't use it in a group, even with my SCS3. I would on a raid though and that's what counts eh. Point being is you gotta use the runes to get to those spells. But to be honest I like the new pet. I'm sure if I parsed it, the results would show the thing has a higher atk rating as well. I was looking at it with haste on. Seems my pet can crit for 183. Now with 75 being the highest damage with the haste on why is it like that? 20% of 150 is 30 so add them together you get 180. IF that crit rate increase does in fact increase damage as well we are still missing 3 damage. Took me 3 days of xping to get all the spells without buying from bazaar, what's the big deal?

Not that it's releveant on this thread, but synapsis spasm in NOT worthless. Everything beating on the mob after casting SS on it will hit for more damage and more often.

We're crowd control, people. A GM once opined to me that the Enchanter is the hardest class to master and the most dependent on the group. Enchanters shine best in what we do FOR groups. Just because Shiny Bob is only negligibly improved with the use of this spell, it doesn't follow that the other members of the group don't appreciate hitting more often and with greater damage. Start thinking. Average group has what? Two to four melees beating on it? Each one being even slightly improved means a considerable improvement in DPS.

Are the Axes that good or what? I tried to give my 66 pet the Blade of Walnan. He ate them. No extra proc or anything. But the other day I gave him a sword from Dranik's Hollows and he could use it. What is up with that. Looking to try the new Dagger of the Deep from a 66 mage but I don't have too much hope that it will work. Any suggestions?

I think Pulasism may be a tad confused.
enchanter pet
# Sep 25 2004 at 12:16 AM Rating: Decent
Well, one thing for sure. If you summon your new pet (Knives), and have it raid buffed, its not a bad tank. Especially in Ldon's, buff it up fully and its not a bad match for normal mobs there. Wouldnt use it on GoD or Oow mobs though, they just hit too hard. Waiting for my enchanter lvl 70 charm, omg, stand bye Agnar, RZ, Bert,,,ect

Forgive my ignorance, but when people say quad hitting, does that mean 4 times a tick? And does this pet quad hit with our haste? Not bad, really. Since he doesn't get aggro over a PC, he becomes a nice little mana free DoT, up to 300 pts per tick or more if you cast NDT on it. A few of the pet AAs, such as the one that allows your pet to get group buffs when the clerics, the shammys and the chanters are tossing them out, and Animation Empathy so you get a pet that actually obeys commands, and he becomes a viable contribution to taking down a mob, even when the shammy is doing the slowing. Shiny Bob dishes out the damage, you can watch for adds. And throw in the occassional nuke (but wait until the mob is at 50% before you start nuking, so the tank doesn't have to pull the mob off you.

Personally, I think Dementia, with its recent revision, is the best nuke in the Enchanter line. It's a 4.5 second cast time, a 2.5 second recovery, comes with a one second stun (although most of the mobs you use it on will be immune to stun), and it's so easy on the mana that it can be chain cast. It practically becomes a DoT itself.
RE: max damage
# Jan 05 2006 at 11:24 PM Rating: Default
Insanity is the best nuke in our lineup due to the POP ornate silk gloves giving us a major mana preservation. The elemental POP silk gloves is even better than ornate. Mana to Damage Ratio using these gloves is sick. If you have too much mana the new nuke is fine, but for sustained dps and most bang for the mana, INSANITY.

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=3086
20% of 300 mana to start, then your aa stuff.
so base is 240 mana for 1100 damage before others.
With MP5 for 10% on the other nukes, they don't rate.
25% of 300 mana with Elemental silk glove to start, so base is 225 mana for 1100 damage.

4.56 damage 1 mana for 358.2 mana base on ancient neurosis with MP5
4.89 damage 1 mana for 325 mana base on Insanity with Elemental Silk Gloves.

not so useless
# Sep 15 2004 at 10:50 AM Rating: Decent
Dont know about the rest of you but i've seen my 62 pet win ldon's and save groups when the Mt goes down and everyone is oom with a named at 2% and just the lowly chanter pet smacking it for the occasional 60. Needless to say i'm going to give this one a try, but thats just me.
RE: not so useless
# Sep 22 2004 at 11:40 PM Rating: Default
I will accept the posibility that a lvl 62 chanter pet could finish off a mob in an LDoN zone when it is at 2% health, but never will I believe that this has happened to you more than once. The pet sucks, it couldn't tank against it's own master.
RE: not so useless
# Sep 24 2004 at 12:10 AM Rating: Decent
I'd have to say that if you allow for it doing it once, then you have to allow for it happening more than once.. /shrug..

I use the Aeldorb's Animation a lot, when I'm feeling lazy and don't want to go dancing with a CoD mob.. Its tanking abilities is nothing like a PC/NPC of the same level but it is significantly greater than you seem to think.

I'm looking forward to aquiring this spell and using it where and when appropriate, to the best of its abilities.

RE: not so useless
# Sep 24 2004 at 2:47 AM Rating: Decent
I use the lvl 62 pet everywhere I go unless there is a better alternative (a Dire Charm pet or something else) so I am very familiar with its capabilities. It sucks compared to a lvl 45 DCed pet, which can tank a dark blue con (at lvl 65) only if it is debuffed, slowed, and nuked continuously by the chanter. So to pretend that it has tanked anything is humorous.

I'm looking forward to getting this spell too, but I'm not in a fantasy world where I believe the chanter pet can win the LDoN becuase the tank died and its the next highest thing left on the mobs aggro list. I just want it cause there's nothing better to charm in the zone or I want to go afk for a while and I need something to beat down the greenies as I sit on my horse.
RE: Summoned pet
# Sep 14 2004 at 4:59 PM Rating: Decent
Haha, use this pet to tank? Are you crazy? He has like what, 500 hp? Yes, they are great to give you time to get off a mez or root, but so is Doppleganger. I surely hope they finally gave our pet some muscle. Yes, I like the power of charmed mobs, but if you play on a PvP server, you wouldn't dare use them because they just get dispelled, then you die.

This is true. There was a bug way back in the day whereby you could actually see a totally black humanoid form where this mob is (I saw it myself so I know its the case).

There must be an invisible modle on which they built the weapon placement and movement animations. For a while the animation had no graphic and looked like an all black huiman cartoon (sort of like a manequin with no real features but a distinct humanoid form).

#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 09 2004 at 1:36 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Wow...another summoned pet. Yet another spell that will never get used. I haven't used summoned pets since I learned to charm. Our summoned pets are good for nothing execpt farming greens somewhere. No hp, no real dps to speak of, and unless you want to waste a few AA on a pathetic pet, you have no control over it.

well may charm is not that great. so I do use the pet and I have a druid that heals it I have not got my 62 pet yet but the 55 quading at 55 is good enuff to take down lvl 58-59 mobs.

I use my summoned pet a LOT. It is a great little bit of extra DPS when charming is not an option and often pulls me out of a jam with the few seconds it can delay a mob that is aggroed. It is but another tool and with the tiny DPS afforded by a chanter that cannot charm in many siturations, every little bit helps. If you throw away the tools that are available, then sad for you and your group.
RE: summoned pet
# Jul 01 2004 at 3:33 AM Rating: Good
One phrase "Animation Empathy"

True, shiney bob will never be a main tank, oddly, neither will the average enchanter. But in many zones charm is no longer an option.

Shiney bob (level 62 version) however when hasted will hit for a solid 60 points per hit and hit so fast he is easily the cheapest and most effective DoT you could ask for.

As for the other issues, try this as a duo: Pull out shiney bob, have a druid partner pull with ensnare. Use the enchanter fear line to have the MoB flee and animation empathy to command your pet to attack. You'll find that your fear kiting in the out door zones of GoD and doing so very well.

Look at it this way, the 67th level pet means in LDoN's were all the mobs are flagged as uncharmable, you'll not only be able to add to the dps, you'll be able to do so very well.

RE: summoned pet
# Sep 19 2004 at 9:54 AM Rating: Good
Correct me if I'm wrong (because it's been forever since I tried to fear anything), but you need to pass me whatever you are smoking if you think you are going to fear kite in GoD zones. At least none that you will get any exp for. I believe anyt mob higher than lvl 55 is IMMUNE to fear. There may be a few mobs in the beginning GoD zones but none you are going to get any real exp out of. If you want to get exp, just get a ranger and a cleric and go to VXED / TIPT and get hella exp and drops with just the 3 of you. Plus you can farm some decent items.

/agree, fear kiting in GoD zones would be insane and a menace to the general public.

Wondering if he has really tried it, or just brainstorming in hopes some other moron will go first. You see a lot of blue-sky (airhead) thinking on these forums.

That said, I like to use my summoned pets where appropriate, for some cheap extra damage.

It should be noted that since these posts were written, the fear cap has been removed and mobs over 55 are indeed subject to fear spells.

If your in a situation where DC or CoD isn't really possible, Mr. Ginsu can tank for a few seconds when a mob pops ontop of you, or the 3rd mob on a pull splits ontop of you after the first mez.(Could happen pretty often with a slow WAR tanking and a monk pulling.)
