Is anyone other than me a little miffed that our highest dmg spell comes at lvl 66??? Why can't we at least get one that does 3k as a base dmg at lvl 70, that would be nice with all the ID V stuff OoW and DoN will give

Quick question, i have a mask from time that has Fury of Ro effect on it. Will that and my fabled robe of the ishva that has ID 4 on it, give this bolt the full effect? Also, can anyone tell me where i can get a mana pres item that will work for the bolt. I dont feel like putting on the summon new earring and looseing 100mana.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 09 2005 at 2:07 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) There are upper lvl items from DoN that have a 50% ID effect on em. Add that in with the 25% bard enhancement. Now if it is calculated as 50% + base dmg you get 4126.5, and the 25% mod is an additional 687.75. Now you add the 2 together, and you get 4814 (rounded down).

50% ID cap gone?
# Feb 08 2005 at 10:47 PM Rating: Default
I'm a little confused... I thought cap on ID was 50%... if it is, then max crit should be 6877, but I've seen mages in the 7k range already.

What gives?

Heart of Flames = 90second 50% ID. Stacks with other ID and with crits

With 25% ID facemask and HoF, I nuke for 5k and crit for 7.5k

With 50% ID it should be quite a bit higher . . I have also heard rumor that there is a 60% ID item out there some where too
Nice Crits!

I have all of my Crit aa's and destructive fury 3. I also have Time dropped item with Wrath of Ro(35% dmg mod). My max crit with bard singing Echo(25% dmg mod) has been 7789 so far. Not bad :) With Discordant gear (45%) ,we'll crit over 8k easy.

High resists
# Oct 19 2004 at 3:10 PM Rating: Decent
Also wanted to post that as with all bolt type spells we get, this one is no exception in the resist category. Deffinetly worth debuffing the mob before you nuke him with this or you will find it gets partially or fully resisted more then you would like to see. On the other hand, after mage debuff, I have never seen a full or partial resist on this spell yet.

SK's have always had a powerfull HT, thats just been the way of things. But you cant really put our spell up against that when they can only use it once an EQ day, where we can cast ours once every 7 seconds without mods.
This spell rocks

Ok so for those of you who want to trash the spell, just did a crit last night for 6128. That was with ID5 but still, just goes to show you this spell kicks ***!

Oh and the ID5 item is fairly easy to obtain, can get a mask with it and there are a few other items with it, cant remember names sorry. Point being that its well worth it. Only 3 runes into level 66 too

Tiny correction. This is actually the fourth spell we receive, assuming the list on Alla's is in the correct order.

Summoned goods
Pet
Damage shield
This spell.
Bolts = good

I know bolts get trashed for their LoS thing but I'd just like to make a comment on that. I'm an evocation mage (no type) because I) bolts are great mana ratio's II) looks good to groups and III) better dps than our DD nukes, and I don't know when the last time you guys used bolt was but they hardly ever miss. And when I say hardly I mean you may miss once every couple months under weird conditions. LoS is a bunch of BS now because I have done specific tests 1. Fired a bolt -directly- through 3 mobs and 3 PC ogres just to see if I could, had them all in line, and bam hit the target. 2. I stood at the bottom of a cliff and fired a bolt at a mob on top, bam it connected 3. In CoM when I did my epic, I used a bolt to pull Neh'Ashirr or who ever to the ground from that little room a mile overhead, when it said my DD 'couldn't see the target'. Thats right, the DD said I couldn't see target and the bolt worked! Looking at this info, yeah i'm an Evo. mage, I nuke all the time in battle and all I use conjuration for is summoning utilities (pets/pet toys/ect), which 99% of the time you can do before fight and once it's done is done, or to heal when I solo but I group so much more than I solo stuff that my pet needs real heals it's pointless to specialize for that, and on that note I dont know about you but I like to preserve my mana during fights, with the best DPS I can put out. The only time a bolt ever misses is when the mob is in a wall or manages to run a few rooms away, which is always bad and should never happen anyway, and even when the mob is in the wall the bolt 'sits' by the mob, so as soon as the mob leaves the wall the bolt will connect (done this many times). So thats why I Evo. specialize and anyone that trashes bolts for their LoS needs to actually try one.

PS. With the ring of bloodcalling from WoS (25% focus I believe) and -nothing- else i was doing normal nukes for up to 3400 and crits up to 6200.

Ever since the DX9 patch bolts have rocked. Basicly there are almost no real LoS checks. Prior to the DX9 patch however they missed on a regular basis and were damn near impossible to use in many raid situations.

There are a few places they dont' work at all, mostly becuase of bugs. In the lower rear levels of Kranors Castle bolts don't work at all. I have no idea why but they just don't. But unless you spend alot of time down there I really wouldn't worry about it :P

Would'nt this spell require ID5 considering ID4 only works on spells up to lvl 65 and this is a lvl 66 spell? Of course by the time you obtain this scroll you would have all the lvl 66 mage focus effect items so you could use your bracer for the ID5 focus. I have seen a nice mask that drops off common mobs in wos that has good stats and focus effect of ID5 but i lost on roll =/

It doens't nessisarily NEED ID5. They changed focus items reciently to work beyond their designed level range. Basicly for every level beyond their range they decrese in effectiveness by 10% before they stop functioning completely after 5 levels. Basicly ID4 or a similar focus would be 90% effective at 66 and would increase damage by 18% insted of 20%.

Even better though, items with Fury of XXXXX or Wrath of XXXX (such as Fury of Ro) from PoP - GoD era items have had their effective level increased to 67 and would be 100% effective on this spell.

The original damage on this nuke was 2600, interestingly it was RAISED, not nerfed like everything else they touch... That puts the mana/damage ratio at a hair over 4.4. Not too bad

wow imagine how much we can crit for with this ...
did the math so far it looks like this
Firebolt of Talon is 2000 max
with ID4 its 2400 so ID4 adds about 20% dd crits landing max at 4000 with no ID4 and 4400 with ID4
since crits dont double spell damage after focus only before--aka regular damage...so my 2cents on Bolt of Jerikor is this--- 2600 regular so 2600 plus ID4 would equal 3120 so on crit it should look like 5720 on a crit..heck without a focus its still stands at a nice looking 5200 crit ;) and this is with only ID4 OoW promises 30% DD so you can look at we mages critting for as much as ..oh 5980 with bard song which adds another wopping 15% on top of 30% ( given you just are uber and raided the S#!t out of OoW and found a 30% focus) equals 45% thus yeilding 6,370 on a full crit with those areas of focus satisfied oh and to prove that bard song adds 15% for those newbs..ive critted for 4700 on fire bolt of talon..i know im only using ID4 but im not uber...thus making it 20%+15%.. but anyway i havent even done math with new bard song ..if any ( poor nerfed bards i doubt youll see many to group with anyway lol ) but yea this my 2 cents on this ala the math major lol

SoE has said that the damage on this spell should be going up with the next patch. It should hit for 2750, IIRC.
