Cleric Pet Hammer... think of it as a automatic stun. It is not really intended for major dps. I use it soloing undead mobs ... light blue to my lvl 72 cleric. If I aggro more than one mob, it will attack the second or third mob that has hit me. If nothing else has hit me, it will despawn. The pet hammer will remain up as long as I can chain pull and keep myself healed with the HoTime. /Shrug ... it does a good job for what it is intended for.. an animated stun. By the way, with a bit of practice, you can buff it to keep it going for a bit longer if you need time to loose aggro.
Damage...

As of the date of this posting, can anyone give me any updated information on this pet? Like max damage, double attack, bash, etc.? Just curious if any of it has gone up. Thanks.

In reference to the post near the bottom of this thread:

So you're going to DUMP the puller to save 175 mana per pull? Can you bend over? I've got a pencil I need to sharpen. I'm joking, but seriously - you should really lighten up a bit there.

Clerics Pets are like a DoT Spell

The most useful insight I ever got into the cleric pet was a posting suggesting clerics to think of their pet as a DoT (Damage Over Time) spell instead of a "Pet." If you think of it as a DoT - then the DPS it does over the course of a fight is usually very mana efficient. If you think of it in terms of pet class Pets (Necro, Mage, or even Chanter) then you might feel disappointed.

Just look at the DPS return for the mana cost & the lifespan of the mobs once they are in camp & being whacked. It usually makes this an efficient way to add DPS to the party, unless you in a very High DPS party.

Hope this helps.

What Lvl For 1st

At what Level do you get your 1st pet hammer

I don't think I'm posting any new news here but here goes...
My most recent strategy in the zones has been to do the following on incoming:
cast MotR, cast MoK, cast pet.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much damage this combination did the first time I used it, for a fraction of the cost of the lvl 67 DD spell that has virtually no effect on the higher end mobs. More helpful to the grp if you aren't wasting mana on nukes that do little damage.

Just my 2cp

Unswerving Hammer of Faith (the first pet spell) is a level 54 spell. You get it as a random reward from the spell turn in quest in Firiona Vie or the Overthere outpost. Here's a link.

ok... reproach is 3.318 dmg/mana so for the 175 mana that this pet takes you could have done 580 damage with a reproach. That's what, 6 hits by the hammer?

In low DPS groups the hammer is probably going to be the more mana efficient way to dps.

Just my 2cp.

Well, I've always been relatively happy with my old pet so what I'd really like to know is: How much more damage does this guy do? Is it enough to stop using my mana free clicky pet for this one?

hits MAX 92, double attacks(not very often), been testing it on greenies hits pretty often, but still swings as slow as the last one. going to test on 60+ mobs the next few days. only really good for group where the mobs dont die as fast.

#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 28 2004 at 11:34 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This pet blowz at lvl 70 its a blue con that hits for almost 100. It dies when the mob dies and it just sucks big time.
Hope its better pet
# Sep 27 2004 at 10:35 PM Rating: Default
No CLR dual weild or double atk or high skill caps this should at least do some dmg and hope it has more then 10HP. The last hammer pet absolutly sucked. 50dmg woot (Not) it missed all the time and by the time the mob dies it did about 500 DMG total.
better pet?

Does this pet disappear after every kill like the last one does?
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 02 2004 at 2:43 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yay! Maybe this one won't suck balls and be worthless like the current cleric pet. ^_^

#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 09 2004 at 3:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) When you finally get out of Kunark and into zones like Riftseekers, tell me how effective your uber pet that hits for 53 does against mobs that can 1-round a 10K tank.

Well, I have logged several fights in WoS and MPG using my pet, and while it certainly doesn't compare with the damage output of a real pet, or with melee dps, I have logged over 3k damage from one pet, in a single fight. mybe its just me, but 3k damage for 175 mana seems pretty decent.

No it won't turn the fight, but it speeds up the grind a tad.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 15 2004 at 8:30 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well that's the problem isn't it? You almost have to have a mob on deck for every one you pull. I agree with you on the premise, but fact is most pullers have a mob in camp *at best* a few seconds after the first mob is dead, and by that time, the hammer has poofed.
RE: New pet?
# Sep 24 2004 at 5:24 AM Rating: Decent
First, make sure you tell the puller that you want the new MOB to arrive while the first one is still alive so you can take a hit to keep your pet hammer alive. A lot of Clerics don't routinely use their pet hammers (at least that I have seen), so you can't really assume that the puller will know that you are going to. If your pullers can't manage that for you on a steady basis if you are specifically ASKING them to do it, then you need to re-train your puller. Either that, or dump 'em for a new one.

My wife and I used to routinely team my Chanter and her Cleric with a fellow who was 3-boxing a Shammy, Druid and Monk. He would gague the rate the MOB was dying against how far he'd need to go to pull the next target, and would head off to grab it while we finished the first one off, and could almost always (barring a lucky crit on a nuke or a string of pet crits) get it back in time for her to take a whack in the head to **** off that hammer.

It's all a matter of practice, training, and letting your teammates know what you want from them. :)

if you have the right people you can. I know my brother (he is a ranger) does it many times over on me. Though i don't mind it as much as i did back when i was lower lvls
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 01 2004 at 9:00 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I can't wait to get these new spells. :-)
