I had MoBs still beating on me even after the fifth casting of this spell.
Not a fizz but 5 successful "You stop breathing" messages.
The 3 mobs were in Greigs, mangled clairvoyant, dark practitioner & a tormented pugilist.
Any ideas??

Edit...there was a melee message "your mind wanderers (sic) as you travel deeper into what seems to be a nightmare" & "a %t mindlessly pursues you" as i entered the room

Spell Fail ?

I got this spell for my 52 SK with the help of my Rogue, Aamdar. It took a few hours to get the Organs to drop, but the bile, saliva and blood dropped fairly quickly clearing the first cave as mentioned above. I cleared the cave a few times with my rogue and then soloed the mobs as they re-popped with my SK. I pulled the mobs when possible to the back wall of the cave to keep adds to a minimum.

Also, at 52 I got 1.5 AAs(without Lesson) on the quest hand in and I may have gotten some plat, not sure, but it seemed like I had more after hand in. Not a bad quest overall. Fun, the experience was good, although the mobs did hit fairly hard. A healer or merc and you should be ok. A druid came after a bit and we had a good run for a while.

Good luck!

I know with my monk, when I feign death and a spell caster is in the process of casting...the fd has no effect. You might need to either fd when they are not casting, or I usually run out of range, and then fd.

Probably the same issue.

What do you need to get? In nadox? Or what.

you need 1 of each:

Luggald Bile
Luggald Blood
Luggald Saliva

these may drop in nadox, but you don't need to hunt there to get them. can get them by hunting luggalds almost all the way back in the Luggald caves of Dulaks.

if you click on the links, you'll see various posters giving directions to where they drop.

good luck!

I'm lvl 53 ... gear is soso ... the organs dropped at the bridge. Just pull the 6 guys at each end of the T. For the bile/blood/saliva go past the bridge .. past that room .. past the rock staircase. Ok so you get to this big room and you can just aggro kite guys along the wall .. was pretty simple.

Yippie ...

1. The CORRECT place to get ALL Three required loots is the room on the main tunnel that is PAST teh Bridge. So go to bridge. Go PAST (read that to be AFTER, Beyond Farther than) The Bridge. Then turn to the Right. The room is down a aways. These mobs are much harder than the bridge and the first room (where Auspice drops are common). Typically it takes an hour or two to get all three. If you fight in the Main Tunnel it will take you 3 days. The Room at the end. There is a small safe are to camp on the far wall from where you come into the room. And look. Fizzle? This think worked so much better for me the FD it was laughable. Faster, no more fizzing for me and seems to actually work. Until you get to Death Peace this is a great spell.

I can confirm the extended fizzle rate on this spell versus Feighn Death, untill an Abjuration of 210+ is reached, after that it seems the fizzle rate drops signifigantly. I will say though, for some reason Comatose FAILS more often for me, than the good old FD does..fail being text:" **** has fallen to the ground ", even up to a point whr i decided, (being MP) to always have both memmed, and always try FD first. Not sure if i just have had bad luck, because i did read all over that the Comatose spell ought to be better than the old one..(by logic it should be, but knowing Soe's "logic"...hmm), or do we really pay the price for shorter recast time, in Fails now?

spent over 3 hours now doing this quest for my necro...so far ive looted 1 blood 5 salivas and not 1 bile..this is becoming very discouraging considering we ahve cleared the room at the end of the north tunnel numerous times now and the tunnels and the bridge multiple times and still havent recieved the organs yet...this is why i hate doing these stupid loy spell quests

huge upgrade to FD, even if you get it late at 58 or 59. it doesnt fail as much as FD in planes, and repops about 3x as FD. it likes to fizzle some if you don't have a high abj though, might want to know that ahead of time.

I got my blood/bila/saliva just after bridge, then right turn to dead end room. you can use invis to come here to set up your corpse, in back of room is safe spot. having a friend lvl60+ makes this quest real breeze.

Cleared room twice and got all 3 drops.(2Bloods, 2Biles, 1Saliva to be exact, didn't kill anymore after Saliva dropped)Blood looks like most common drop, then bile or saliva, but none seemed really rare in that room.

If your Int is Low it will cause you to fizzle
RE: YOu got the fizzles
# Oct 28 2004 at 10:42 PM Rating: Decent
*cough *********

Things that affect fizzle rates are :
i) your skill (abjuration for this one)
ii) the spells fizzle adjustment - 5 for this spell according to Lucy

Int has zero to do with fizzles - try it yourself if you really need proof. Load up on neg int gear (jesters helm etc) and cast a few - then load up on int gear + kei and try - no difference.
RE: YOu got the fizzles
# Feb 04 2005 at 10:04 PM Rating: Decent
actually int does play a part in fizzles, my 53 shaman fizzles more after a death and waiting for rez then he does when he has his wisdom maxed.
this may not affect int casters, haven't tested it o my necro. just thought i'd throw that in there

What does the 54 limit mean?
# Apr 12 2004 at 8:34 PM Rating: Default
Ok, this is my first time posting to Allakhazam mainly because this is the first time I have had something constructive to say. :) The 54 limit is the level of the mob I believe. It sounds strange, but I was in PoN soloing and I successfully casted comatose multiple times but the level 55 mobs did not even blink. Why they would limit it like this, I do not know.

Test it out and let me know what you find. Thanks.

I'm not sure where you see the lvl 54 limit. I have this spell used by my 53 sk, and it successfully works against mobs red to her. Used in Nadox, PoSky, the Hole and PoN... could've just been a bad day. Smiley: boozing

Good Spell
# Nov 18 2003 at 4:03 PM Rating: Decent
I have been trying to solo my way through those caves and get the spell and have been fairly successfull at soloing, but it sure gets rough near the back of the cave. I personally dont think you can solo to the back with anything less than having emmissary of thule for a pet. You can root rot and possibly get back in a ways, but he will have taken a serious beating and most likely you will have to FD and summon new pets over and over again with anything less than EoT.

I am using EoT and it is still very difficult. I use shadowbond on the pet and VM on the mob to try and keep up with the beating my pet is taking, but even then it sometimes gets to be a downhill battle with the mobs on the other side of the bridge. They are much rougher than the ones on the harbor side.

The blood, saliva, and bile too seem to be much rarer than the organs, because I get organs all the time (for auspice) but have yet to get the components for this spell.

I suggest root rotting each mob until he breaks root and then sending in pet to minimize dmg. Good luck. This seems to be a nice upgrade to FD.
54 second duration
# Nov 10 2003 at 6:45 PM Rating: Default
Now I know that our pets are uber and all....but doesn't the 54 second timer mean that you have 54 seconds from the time you FD until your pet thinks that you really have died, and therefore kills itself in an act of loyalty?

(Try it with normal FD... have a pet up, FD, wait a few....pet goes poof)
Good spell
# Jul 22 2003 at 8:16 AM Rating: Excellent
This spell is a reward from a quest that starts with an erudite named Cedric Tallons who is to the east of the docks that zone to Gunthak. All parts of the quest (2 Luggald organs, blood, bile, and saliva [one of each]) can be found in the secret tunnel to the left hand side of Dulak after you zone in from Gunthak, the secret entrance is in a wooden wall, just run into it blindly and you'll find it. The organs drop off of lower level Luggalds it seems, these guys are before the bridge section. After getting 2 organs give to Cedric and he gives Necros the spell Auspice which is a Lifetap/Dot over time that heals 30 HPs a tick to your group for 54? second or 9 ticks. At first I thought it sucked ... but in a situation where your entire group is taking damage casting this spell heals for a grand total of 1620 in a full group. Yeah it's not a Word of (Cleric word here) but it's certainly welcome to have a 1620 heal for just 300 mana (That's a 5.4 damage healed for every 1 point of mana). SKs get the spell Blood of Pain which I believe is a fire based dot that does 30 damage every tick for 54 seconds ... it's like the necro spell without the healing. Then again I'm not a SK and I don't really know.

The 2nd part of the quest requires you get a Luggald blood, bile, and saliva. All three drop off of harder mobs after the bridge. Both Necros and SKs get the spell comatose which is a 1.5 second, 80 mana FD with a recast time of about 8 second, which is twice as fast as it takes FD to pop. This spell is a welcomed upgrade to FD in my opinion. eq.castersrealm.com is incorrect by saying this spell has a 54 second max limit, you can feign til the cows come home with this spell.

I got all components by calling my guild together and completely annilating the tunnels with a 65 Pally, 54 Cleric, 55 Druid, 58 Necro, and 54 necro (me). It however was complete over kill and all mobs died in less than 10 seconds with the pally, 2 pets, and 4 nukers blasting away. Pally used pacify to split mobs and we never had to fight more than 2.

A few side notes ... we got all the way to the end of the tunnels and there's this "important" looking room with statues and a fountain in the center and it's jambed packed with luggalds. Does anybody have any idea if anything interesting spawns there? We cleared the room 3 times but got nothing. ALSO, geez I almost forgot to mention this, the Luggalds pathing is broken when they run away ... they run straight through walls and are still targetable but the corpse is lost when you nuke, so make sure you have a snarer or you'll lose potential drops.

Minor correction:

Cedric TRALLUS, and he is located in a camp if Indifferent NPCs near -4431, -3419.

Just before you get to the bridge, you can take a right turn. That is where the organs drop. We were there an hour or so and got 3 of them.

The bridge and beyond is where the blood and saliva drop. I haven't found any bile yet, but will go back to the bridge.

54 sec duration?
# Apr 27 2003 at 3:15 PM Rating: Decent
Casters realm indicates that there is a max duration of 54 sec for this spell. Someone posted on that site that this is incorrect. If anyone has this spell, please confirm whether this is true. If so, the only real use for it that I can see would be for FD pulling and use it for "pop-and-drop", and you'd still need to also have regular FD memmed for mobs that don't lose interest quickly. Also, if you have this spell, any info on the quest to get it would be appreciated. :)
RE: 54 sec duration?

This is incorrect info. You can feign forever with this spell, it also seems to work more often (especially in the planes where normal FD is well ... shaky)

Feign Death
20% Server Check Failure Rate
Slow recast timer

Comatose
10% Server Check Failure Rate
Faster Recast timer

Death Peace
5% Server Check Failure Rate
Fastest Recast time
RE: 54 sec duration?

I still havent done quest - still using the lvl 16 FD spell at level 53 so I don't know about Comatose and Death Peace, but I can tell you that my failure rate w/ the lvl 16 FD is not anywhere near 20%.

By failure rate I mean when you get the message - "So-and-So has fallen to the ground." This is the same message Monks get when their FD skill fails.

Fizzles and spell interrupts from getting hit are based on your channeling and abjuration skills (and of course, how badlly your getting hit :)). These failures are not "FD failures."

For monks, skill failures are based on the FD skill. However, the spell based FD that Necs and SKs get has no "skill" associated with it. There has been much discussion on what determines the spell based FD failure rate on the necro boards and noone has come up with a concrete answer.

Some people think the "skill" failures are related to channeling and abjuration skills and others think its a fixed % based on the spell with the higher level spells having lower % failure rates, some people think its a bit of both (a % figure modified by your casting skills).

Whatever determines the rate, I can tell you for sure that the level 16 spell does not fail anywhere near 20% of the time. Thats 1 in 5 times - my rate is much, much better than that.

I think when they say 20% failure rate that means that you have a 20% chance of failing, not that you fail 20% of the time. IE: you roll a die and 1-4 is a success, 5 is a fail, 6 is a reroll that is what they mean. This means that you would never fail 20% of the time.
RE: 54 sec duration?
# Jan 16 2006 at 4:30 AM Rating: Decent
Uh...huh?

Statistically, it's the same thing. There's no difference between failing 20% of the time and having a 20% chance to fail. EQ doesn't use D6s to decide stuff, either. :p

If you blow the numbers up to make it easier...
20% chance of failing:
1-20: Fail. 21-100: Succeed.
Fail 20% of the time:
1-20: Fail. 21-100: Succeed.

It's the same damn thing. :p

Hoewever, I will aggree that FD doesn't have that bad of a failure rate. However, that could be EQ's NOTORIOUSLY shoddy Random Number Generator at work - making it entirely possible that FD has a 20% chance to fail. /shrug

After one of the last patches I finally got the components to drop. The bile/blood/saliva all dropped in the Dulak caverns in the cave just past the 3-way bridge. You need to have the auspice spell already for the quest to work. As far as I can see the 54 second thing was an error on castersrealm, I stay FD with it for as long as I tried.

This spell is obtained through a quest.

The quest starts in Stoneburnt Mountains with Cedric Tallons (sp), found in the tents to the east of the boat to Gunthak.

Upon completion of the intial quest (level 45 spell, Auspice for me), he mentions another magic that they were able to learn from the study of the Luggalds. He asks you to bring Luggald blood, bile, and saliva.
