The guy below who got the lute on his 3rd kill was lucky. Took about 25 kills for me. Fortunately In Torgiran a human miner was found, the third one I tracked and that part went quick. There is big aggro range here since another miner aggro from across the large room involved.

All in all both Aria quests are easy and the songs are essential in TLP so recommend every bard get them.

level 69. from the guildhall, i went and zoned into dulak's harbor and ran around town tracking the treasure sorters. on the third kill i got the lute, time spent: 5 minutes. then i ran around looking for the torgiran mines. time spent: 2 minutes. finally zoned in, ran north while tracking for crazed miners. found one, clicked off invis, /con was indifferent. hailed and went through the words (are you -name-?) (why did you go mad ?) then i turned in the lute, he despawned and gave me a note. time spent, 30 seconds. i used my Overthere Hammer to get back to civilization, took the qeynos stone in pok, ran to Jusean outside the bard hall and hailed him. he said something about watch reports, so i decided to just demand to know who his father is, a la the quest walkthrough. then i turned in the note and got the song.

total time, 15 minutes, less if guild chat hadn't disrupted my questing. don't bother going to qeynos first if you're in a hurry, or don't care about the lore.
that may possibly be the last time i step foot in the lands of Ykesha.
not sure, but

I charmed the first crazed miner I came to.. gave him the loot... and he just stood there and gawked at me.. so evidentally you can't just walk up to any crazed miner and just do a charm hand in.. I guess the people that did get it to work either charmed the correct one or just got luckey. Shrug.. I had to go out and start killing all over again for the lute and beleive me I think it's worth the wait for the correct crazed miner spawn because the lute was a pain in the butt to get.

This Quest starts in Qeynos <The City of Man>(first hint). This quest is given to you by a human (second hint).

Only one Crazed miner cons indif to you with out invis, and its HUMAN.

BTW, sorry ya lost your quest piece.
Lute? Wind?

Anyone else find it odd that this song is listed as wind, but uses a lute in the quest?

The lute was not impossible to get as a 50 Bard, solo, I sat at the back of the warehouse and lulled, then charmed one mob into attacking the treasure sorter and slowed the shady treasure sorter - the slow was enough to cause it to lose (with one recharm) and then I managed to mez the winner.

I looted the lute and got lost leaving the zone. The mob broke mez when I was out of range, and brought all its friends. I died, but I had the lute on my body. I had bound in the lighthouse, and I had a spare flute in the bank. As you come in to the zone, go straight down the main street (angle slight left), and the shady treasure sorter with the lute was in the back of the last warehouse on the right before you got back to the ships, in the back.

The turn in was a totally different issue. I scouted the mines with a friend, playing on my minotaur horn all the time, and decided to not risk breaking invis. The indiff miner (human pattern) was simply not to be found. My guild put together an uber party, warrior, cleric, druid, monk, and chanter and me, all of them were high 50's and we hit the mines and killed all the crazed and everything else in front of us. We moved in between the two areas that had crazed in them. (The one at the loc mentioned above and the area with all the crazed). We did this for a couple hours straight before the indiff human popped. It popped in the area with all the crazed, and not in the room with the rockpecker.

I walked up to the miner and started the conversation - I figured after all that, the people in the group deserved a show, so I was going to go through all the responses. The warrior attacked the CM while I was talking to him. By that time, he was an automatic killing machine. See a mob, kill it.

I backed off and my third charm landed (the druid was considering a succor to break aggro). After I explained the issue, I did the turn in and it worked. Doing the turn in caused the CM to depop.

The other night, I was trucking through North Ro and I hear, OOC, "How can you cure a curse?"

Some random person responds, "You can't: You have to wait for it to wear off."

I respond, "Of course you can, there is a Level 52 quested bard song that removes curses. Where are you?"

Yep, another party opened the wrong chest and they were glued to the ground in North Ro. I have decursed people who were walking on the ground at half normal walk speed at the adventurer's camp and who were crying for help. These between 4 and 6 pulses to cure them depending on how close they were to the chest. I have decursed people in PoK - and those people donated all the plat they had on them without being asked, they were real tired of moving at half walk speed. I have seen people barely able to move in an adventurer's camp and just played the song at them without asking - it does have cool effects. And they were pleased to be rid of their curse.

With LDoN, this is a VERY valuable song. I have maxed (class limit) pick lock, find trap, disarm trap, and I have a song set that I put up when I open a chest that includes both the arias. This somg and its mate have saved me and other party members many times.

The bard song isn't the only cure for curses. Priest classes get remove curse and other curse removing songs from ldon. The remove curse spell drops from the great saprophyte in echo caverns though. It is a rather rare drop though and sells for a rather high price.

Just got this song today...Lute dropped after 5 kills, from what i've read it seems to be rare, I must be lucky. I toke the lute into the Torigan mines and gave it to the craved miner. He wasn't hard to find since I can track. Gave him the lute, he de spawned and a subverted miners spawned in his place...Hit me for 68 and 77, which was np, turned and ran...lol...no sice in fighting him if ya don't have to. so i took the stained parchment to Jusean in S.Qeynos and Bam! got the song...hope this helps.

Right mob???

Ok, spent about 2 hours last night killing "Shady Treasure Sorters", but no lute. Is this the correct mob and the lute is a rare drop, or am I hunting the wrong mob?

shady treasure shorter
# Mar 08 2003 at 10:22 AM Rating: Decent
that is its named dont look for a regular treasure shorter you will never find one in that zone

BTW when you turn in the lute the guy turns into a subverted miner and attacks you so have a map and be ready to run or fight him I ran <shrugs>

so if the subverted miner is up mostlikely kill him to get crazed miner to spawn

How to get This Song
# Mar 04 2003 at 2:01 AM Rating: Excellent
I just did the quest tonight, GL getting it. I found this quest much easier than the other new song, completed this easily as a solo 54 bard.

1. Loot "An Old Waterlogged Lute" off of a 'Treasure sorter' (I believe that was the mob, I remember the word 'treasure' in the name) in the zone Dulak Docks.

2. Proceed to the Torigan Mines and track the very high lvl Crazed Miner. He is a male human with brown hair, and is located not far from the zone, just off one of the tunnels headed west (sorry, didn't get a loc). None of the mobs in the zone see through invis. Move against the wall so no other mobs agro, drop invis, and hand him the Old Waterlogged Lute. He will dissapear and give you a "Stained Parchment" with instructions to go seek out Jusean.

3. Go to the bard guild in South Qeynos and find Jusean outside the door to the bard building. Turn in the "Stained Parchment" to him and you will get back the song: "Aria of Innocence"!

Congratulations!

The spell effects on this song look AWESOME. I run around casting for no reason other than the look. Should prove to be very useful. This is a fairly simple quest, the only hard part is finding the lute in Dulak in the first place. Best of luck my fellow musicians! Happy questing!

Somethin in this zone does see invis. I went in with an IC Druid and the Forsaken Miner whacked me and of course yelled to his friends I was there.

Huge trains are fun!

Curses are a relatively new type of affliction introduced with Luclin - prior to that only Disease and Poison existed. The purpose of these Counters is to allow the effect to be removed with a specific "cure" spell. The higher the level of the affliction effect, the more Counters it adds. Similarly, the higher the level of the cure spell, the more counters it removes. When all counters are removed, the affliction effect is cured.

Using Poison as an example:

Feeble Poison, the effect from Spiderlings, adds 1 poison counter.
Strong Poison, the effect from Darkweed snakes and the like, adds 4 poison counters.

Cure Poison, the level 1 cleric spell, removes 1 poison counter. So one cast of this spell will cancel a Feeble Poison, but will require 4 casts to cancel Strong Poison.

Counteract Poison, the level 24 cleric spell, removes 8 poison counters, so would cure either of the two with a single cast.

Counters are also attached to other effects that aren't quite as tightly related to their results - for example, the Enchanter "Tash" spells (that reduce Magic Resistance) add Poison Counters - Cure/Counteract Poison will remove the effect. Similarly, the Shaman "Slow" spells add Disease Counters, so the effect can be removed with Cure/Counteract Disease.

The commonest Curse I have encountererd is the "Sun Revenant's Curse" in the Scarlet Desert of Luclin - but the DoT-type effects of most of Luclin's Boss Mobs are also Curses, and the "Remove Curse" spell, and its upgrade "Remove Greater Curse", are essential when tackling them. Incidentally, Druids, Shaman and Paladins can also cast these two spells in addition to Clerics.

Drowsy and Tash both have disease counters, not curse ones.

Malo can only be cured by Radiant Cure (or a similar AA) or Dispel.
