At lv 105 I am using this spell. I checked with and without to verify dmg. the difference is 12 damage between having and not having this buff up. I do have max DS AA ( Intense Hatred rank 27) as well as 48/35 Damage shielding Mod. ( Damage was 452 without and 464 with, so yeah...)
So not sure what is going on with this spell but the info here needs to be updated and The Devs prolly need to rebalance a few things lol.

The spell description is off. I'm 85 and mobs are taking 35 points of damage from this. I don't think there's a cap to it.
I would say check your total of damage shield on the stats tab. It sounds like you are doing 12 ds from this spell and 13 ds from your equipment.

Since the freeport revamp, i do not see this npc that sells it nor do i see the spell ANYWHERE for sale in EFP. This sucks since i play on progression
As of November 2nd 2005 Reaver Nydill does indeed sell this spell, bought it for 3pp and some change.

I am only really a level 4 but I dont get what this spell does... really what all does it do?
This spell will damage your opponent in melee combat everytime they land a hit.

So is it worth a Damn to a Necro? I'd think being a caster and getting beat on was a NO-NO. Are there any Necro 's Out there that use this spell for any thing other than farming greens? I bought it anyway formy Baby Necro just because I try to always get my spells regardless.

Yar, especially for us necros that enjoy good old fasshioned one on one time with reds and are trading hits with your dear pet. Poor pets don't always seem to know what hit 'em when being hit and thier taunting isn't quite addequite enough. That is what I will be using it for.
DS can be very effective for tanks. To an SK, even at 54, this can be useful since it adds DPS when a mob is hitting you. In addition, as the DS goes off it seems to add agro.

I believe it is of some use at the lower levels (16 to 26ish) as you want to get slapped around a little bit in order to develope your defensive skills. It is also nice to max out your offence, 1H blunt etc, but those are more fringe benefits.
In my mind, this spell is just extra damage (thus xp) while you are working on defence and dodge. Against rapid hitting mobs (like iksar bandits/manslayers in WW), the damage from this shield can really add up. Just be sure to have leach up ;)

are you yoking me? (i believe its joking, with a soft j) i tank everything at teen levels, maybe cause im a twink, but still i use my shaded dagger and my pet is just extra dps, any extra dps i can have is fine, because my health just doesnt go down, even when im killing reds i just lifetap it back up :P

Really with the way necro spells are set up, and skills at earlier levels, tanking and letting the pet add DPS is a lot more effective. I think it was around 30 I stopped tanking and swapped to fear kiting, and not until the 50s did I start agro kiting.

Why are they giving such a tiny spell to a level 54 SK? Yes every little bit helps but this is a pathetic spell for a high level char.

Isn't it an ADDITIONAL DS? as in stacks with regular thorns/spikes/etc and ranger one? so with all those, plus cleric reverse DS, thats a nice bit of damage especially if they arent slowed
On my necro at levels 16 and 17, damage is only 8 per shot.
Also sold in Cabilis East by Lord Vizaroth in the SK guild.

note that in the discription that it says increase damage shield by XX.... if grouprd with another class that can DS you, say a bard (who also adds to damage with both types they get) and a mage, druid or chanter this could get really big, especially at the level a SK gets it as you could be getting 25+ from base DS, another 18 or so from bard and 12 from yourself totaling around 45+ points a pop...

This spell does not stack with mage/druid ds's but does stack with protection line, druid line, cloak of akheva/luclin, baz's ring from chardok, 8th ring or better ds enhancement. So this is a regular ds not a ds enhancer..

This spell is a Damage sheild. it damages the enemy IF it's hitting you. does 8 damage at lvl 16. it lasts for around 4 mins at that lvl. it DOES need a regent to cast which is a pearl. it will NOT consume it when cast. this spell can be researched or bought. cost is 9pp with 65 Cha bought off Nydill in POK. Great spell just remember to cast it before engageing in battle.
This spell makes a sheild that when a mob hits you it will take damage.
You can also buy this spell of off Reaver Nydill in the SK section of the basement of the library!
